We really enjoyed our trip to Tampa, the hotel is really well situated near the free trolley which goes from downtown Tampa to Ybor, also included in the daily destination fee, we utilised the pirate water taxi which was directly across from the hotel, just enquire with the concierge and they with give you a voucher. We took both routes the river and the island, really enjoyed both. With both these free transportations we got around real easy. Beacon rooftop is really nice, however even if you are a resident of the hotel make sure you make a booking in advance for outdoor seating. We got breakfast bits from the Market. Pool area was really nice and clean and quiet. Service we received all round was excellent. Our room was very comfortable, had a water view and the bathroom was really nice and well equipped. Really like the evening turn down service the room was keep well provided with complementary water.

Google
The best time ever! From the 700am daily workouts and gourmet daily breakfast to the customer service, attention to needs/details, and everyone working at the JW; every moment was priceless. Very clean and happy place to be. The food, drinks, and room service were superb. The pool is to die for! The yard was fun for families with kids. Conveniently close to everything we needed. I appreciate the app that helps us plan our days (cleaning services, spa, dinner reservations, etc) and stay in communication with the staff. We also enjoyed the spa and all of the restaurants on site. Opportunities: the pool bar and 1st floor market closed earlier than scheduled a few days during our stay.

Had a great stay. Rooms are clean. Food and service are great. Location is amazing. Valet is subpar. It is $50/ night. App to get car is "finicky". Was told my car was delivered after 30 minutes, only to see the keys were still hanging. Tried requesting in person and still took over 30 minutes, making us late to an event on multiple occasions. Highly recommend this location if you're not driving. If you plan to drive, it is very inconvenient due to poor and slow valet system.

Alejandra was absolutely exceptional throughout my entire stay at the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street. From the moment I arrived, she made me feel welcome and truly went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Her professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail stood out in every interaction. She anticipated my needs before I even had to ask and handled everything with genuine care and grace. Alejandra is a true asset to the hotel and played a huge part in making my experience unforgettable. I can’t thank her enough!

This hotel was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. So glad that the Florida Brewers Conference was held there this year. The staff rad amazing, the rooms were huge and spacious and everything was amazing. Would definitely go back and stay at this hotel in the future.

Google
Hotel was clean with convenient location and nice views. Parking is nonexistent, its either valet or public parking in a parking garage. The entryway gets very congested with cars as there is no designated valet parking entrance, so all incoming/outgoing guest car traffic gets stuck to one small and narrow drive. For such a big and busy hotel they only have 6 elevators; these work great as long as there isn't a convention or meeting going on, otherwise be ready to wait as hundreds of guests try to travel between almost 30 floors. On-site restaurants are great, Lona had high quality great tasting food and there's many walkable options if what the hotel offers isn't your vibe. The hotel is also within great walking distance to nearby convention centers and Amalie Arena for events. Overall great hotel but should be better equipped/organized considering the large volume of people it sees

Google
Great stay with amazing views on Amelia Arena. It's a pricey hotel and to be expected for a high end hotel. Great location right in downtown Tampa with easy access to the trolley (pulls up right across the street) and walking distance to so much to include Amelia Arena, Convention Center, all of Downtown Tampa, Channelside and more. Amazing staff. If valet is too expensive for you or not necessary, there is a paid lot right next door to save a few bucks. Would absolutely stay here again. Room was very modern and bed very comfortable.

Google
My family stayed at this hotel in December due to it's proximity to Amalie Arena, which is right next door. We were attending a hockey game that weekend and wanted to be close enough to walk to and from the game, which worked out nicely. We booked the breakfast-included option which specifically states breakfast buffet for two adults and children under 12 would be free. The offer on the site STILL shows this wording. However, when we ate there they only gave us a $35 per adult credit toward Driftlight and insisted that our children were not free. This was disappointing but truly our only sore spot of the trip. We were given a room that overlooked the arena, which made my kids happy. The hotel was clean. They had holiday events. My kids had hot chocolae & cookies with Santa one night. It was very tastefully decorated for the holidays as well! I would definitely stay here again and perhaps push the issue with included/free breakfast a bit more next time.

Yelp
Excellent hotel. New, modern and outstanding service give this property an easy 5 stars. I enjoyed a a four night stay for a conference and was quite comfortable during the visit. I wished I had more time to enjoy all the hotel had to offer, but I did sit outside and enjoy the pool area for a bit, ate at the 6th floor restaurant and smashed a few at both the ground floor bar and the 6th. Room was modern, comfortable and clean. Housekeeping did an excellent job keeping my room clean and organized. Overall, a very nice property. 5 stars

Yelp
Beautiful hotel!! Starting at check in, service was amazing. Staff was consistently utilizing my name and took service to the next level. Everything was explained and offered so polite and professionally. Each day the hotel offers a free cocktail tasting which we stopped by "Six" to enjoy a Mai Tai after checking in. Everything was so clean in the lobby and common areas. When we got to the room, it was stunning. Perfectly clean and fresh. The bed was so comfortable and I really felt at home. We did not experience the dining options as we had dinner preplanned elsewhere. We did have a glass of wine and the welcome cocktail at Six. The hotel offered at least 3 dining choices, which there is a lobby bar and breakfast restaurant on the 1st floor and a rooftop bar as well. I wish we had more time to enjoy the rooftop bar, but will have to make that a stop another time. We departed in the morning and stopped for coffee at their cafe. Of course, everything is expensive as it was $20 for 2 coffee. But overall, enjoyed everything the hotel has to offer. Eve at departure. valet service was amazing. offering to hold my suit while waiting for the car to be pulled up. Highly recommend staying here!

Yelp
The JW Marriott offers an impressive experience with many highlights, making it a strong choice for a special occasion or getaway. Starting with the positives, the breakfast buffet was excellent, featuring made-to-order eggs, a charcuterie board, and a variety of fresh pastries. A standout for me was finally trying a cronut (croissant-donut), which was a delightful treat. Our room, a Superior Corner King, was spacious and comfortable. While we would have appreciated a bathtub and some bathroom ventilation, the comfortable bed made up for it. The staff added thoughtful touches, such as chocolate-covered strawberries and a personalized birthday card for my wife, which made the stay feel special. The integrated Netflix on the TV was a great bonus, allowing us to enjoy the Tyson fight from the comfort of our room. Liz at check-in was particularly helpful, and the front desk and bellhop staff were consistently attentive and understanding. The one major downside was the valet parking service, which fell short of the hotel's high standards. While it started well, the service deteriorated over the next few days. Using the text feature to request our car resulted in waits of over 20 minutes. To make matters worse, billing was mishandled, leaving the valet charge off our room folio. This was inconvenient, as we try to itemize expenses for tax purposes. When I paid separately for the valet, I was not given a receipt, adding further frustration. Despite these issues, the overall experience at the JW Marriott was fantastic. The hotel's amenities, comfort, and thoughtful service were highlights, though the valet service needs improvement to match the rest of the experience. I would happily stay here again but hope for smoother valet operations in the future.

Yelp
Spent the day at this relatively new hotel. They have a very nice outdoor pool area on the sixth floor roof. Two large pools, cabanas, and umbrellas and towels. There is bar service . A spa and restaurant are indoors on the same floor. The hotel offers Spa and day passes. We had lunch at the restaurant which provided excellent service and delicious food. We had Cuban sandwiches, bbq pork belly and beer. They have valet parking with a discount if dinning at their restaurants.

Yelp
This is a superb hotel for a conference which I attended in June 2024. It has lovely views of Tampa's waterway and has great service at check-in. Although I did not park a car here or use room service, the amenities were quite good including a spacious fitness center which overlooked a veranda. I must say the concierge was especially helpful in securing dinner reservation for a small group of colleagues and recommending whether to take a trolley or walk to the destination. One downside of this hotel is that it feels isolated from downtown Tampa, especially during the summer heat when walking outside was unpleasant. But overall, it's a superb venue for a small business conference.

Yelp
Great hotel, and a great location. The room was great , and so was the staff I encountered. My only frustration was after I left I had a billing issue and it took me almost 3 weeks to get it corrected. Definitely check your bill before leaving.

Yelp
We are big fans of the JW Marriott brand and stay whenever we can. At a JW, you expect top notch service and this hotel delivered. Every staff member with whom we interacted was friendly, helpful, professional, and seemed to enjoy their job. Service was absolutely a 10 out of 10. We had a double queen room with a water view, which we absolutely loved. We stayed at this location for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. The location is very convenient to the rest of downtown and the Riverwalk. There are numerous options for eating and drinking. The hotel is not far from Sparksman Wharf, the aquarium, the Children's museum, and water taxis. It is also across the street from an arena for sports events. The hotel is only three years old so everything still feels relatively new and clean. We were able to take advantage of the Executive Lounge which offers a great selection of foods for breakfast in the morning, snacks and small plates around dinner time, and desserts in the evening. My one criticism, and it would not stop me from staying here again, is that the bathroom is rather dark, there is no fan, there is only one hook, the countertop is rather small, and the water pressure from the sink faucet was weak. There are two rooftop pools. One was heated, the other one seemed not to be heated. Valet was fast and efficient. The Concierge was helpful. The front desk was efficient and helpful. Really, the entire staff is there to serve and do it with a positive attitude. The people who work here make this hotel a wonderful experience. If we return to Tampa, this is where we are staying.

Yelp
My 5 star getaway for carefully concocted cocktails and an ambiance for days. In these times when good servers are hard to find, they have many. I wouldn't expect stat service for so many but it ain't too shabby. The food is great and it's perfect for those who don't venture out often and just want to get to the point: great drinks and food hangout. Look around. This place has redefined the Tampa skyline....i like it!

Roberta J.

Yelp
Oh my. This is not a typical JW Marriott experience. My entire 5 night stay was poor. The room needed attention; aged linens, pillows & towels, broken shower sprayer, tissue holder and lamps that did not work. Staff was not consistent, but I allowed for holidays and everyone wanting to finished their day. I would never stay at this one vs the Clearwater option.

Yelp
I was here for a convention. And it was during a busy weekend, but I was able to go on Hotels.com and get a room. The room had a beautiful view of the city, and I really loved the room

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Def a nice quick getaway. I was torn between JW and the new Edition and I'm glad that I made the choice that I did. I spent about an hour at the Edition down the street. While the location is great, it's legit a IG playground with groupies everywhere. Back to the JW. Room was great with a nice view of the bay. Hotel was very well maintained and service was friendly. Had a drink down at the bar and enjoyed my time spent there. Gym is nice too. Hotel is across the street from a free tram which I took a lot during my trip. Overall, a good value and I'd stay again. P.S. 2 pools on the rooftop. Service could be a bit better and more attentive. But water and view were nice.

Yelp
Ultimate luxury! Everything was perfection. IWould live there if I could. I loved everything about this hotel.

Yelp
We stayed in the StayWell room. The room smelled fresh and had an amazing view of the water. The StayWell rooms are provided with air purifiers, shower head filters, and sunrise clock. The beds Uber cozy and we slept wonderfully. The staff is very accommodating and helpful.

Yelp
Fantastic venue for any convention, vacation or just a weekend getaway. We were there for a convention in August and everything was perfect! It's a gorgeous hotel with all of the amenities, too many to mention. The staff is extremely attentive, the food is excellent and the rooms are extremely nice. I was able to visit my friend who had the Presidential suite in room 2651 - check out the amazing cudeos

Yelp
Manager on duty lied to me during Hurricane Milton aftermath, October 15th to be exact at 340pm. Promised she'd refund my points since I wasn't going to stay the night after hurricane issues resolved (nice gesture if completed). Issues with the system limited immediate resolution but promised it be back in 3-4 days max - Never Happened. Talked to hotel phone agent, Drew?, and his manager on Oct 31 and was promised resolution - never happened - corporate has no records of any efforts from JW to resolve either time! Please stop lying to my face, don't make promises you don't intend to deliver just to get me to go away. Hotel looks pretty, great location, horrible service across repeated interactions.

Yelp
Great hotel the staff has been wonderful the bars or nice the food is nice overall grade hotel we're here for a conference and everything has been good. The restaurant on the six floor six is just OK. The food was decent. Very small menu not much to pick from the staff was a little rude.

Yelp
My review is solely on The Beacon on the 27th floor. A group of friends and I went their last night and for a Wednesday the place was crowded. Ambience a 5 Visuals a 5 But the service, drinks and food? 3. $17 for a glass of sangria spritz is a bit steep for cocktails when The Edison is right next door. All drinks seem to be $17. The choices of cocktails tried to be edgy but failed to deliver. service: our waitress while very friendly, forgot orders completely or forgot to place orders until we reminded her. rarely came by to check on us. Food: Nice presentation but that's where the excitement ends. not much on the menu for a bar/lounge vibe. Mini angus or kobe burgers or truffle fries would be good additions. we ordered hummus with carrots which were undercooked i.e hard had to cut with a knife. hummus was delish. no bread/naan or pita just hummus and carrots. we also ordered a potato snack with caviar. ok it came room temp. nothing to rave about. The view is non-pareil. Freaking awesome at nightime and I guarantee blown away at sunset. Tip: go for the view and atmosphere. eat before you go and stick to your known cocktails.

Yelp
Gorgeous hotel. Like a Modern Ritz Very urban, lots of glass, very open. Escalators and elevators Connected by skyway to Marriott across the street Very pricey, came over here to eat and use their market They have coffee and a bar at the entrance lobby Lots of conference rooms upstairs with glass and steel. Spacious and very high ceilings give you lots of breathing room Great for meetings, you don't feel stuck in a small business and banquet room A breath of fresh air to hang here. You can also see the hustle and bustle of the convention hall and spot the cruise ships down the opposite side of the street Beautiful area next to the electric free trolley too! Plenty of scooters to borrow in the streets

Yelp
4.5- Great location. Have traveled here a few times now for work, so can fairly say service has been consistent. Location: walking distance to many companies, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and of course the water as well as water and land trolly. Amenities: To be fair, haven't had a chance to use the pool, but the overall amenities are great- bar, restaurant, coffee station, gym. Room: Great views of the water and stadium as well as downtown. Comfortable bed, spacious space. Good closet space with a full length mirror inside and tons of hangers (I hang everything so this is a plus). Safe in the drawer, mini fridge. Bathroom: Has always been clean and nice. Only downside is that the lighting in the bathroom is dim, I have to move a light over by holding it closer to the mirror. My last room at least had a makeup mirror with light, but this time there was not one. Shower pressure is great, hot water.

Yelp
Great location and pool, the restaurants are also good. It's walkable distance from restaurants and businesses. The rooms are small but nice.

Yelp
Staying here was a special occasion for my husband and I. We are both educators and as such do not make tons of money, but this was our 30th wedding anniversary, so we wanted one special night together to celebrate. The front desk staff and almost everyone was very nice. The hotel was luxurious, and the water facing room was spot on. However, the steakhouse was closed on Monday night. A staff member told us we could not go to the 27th floor bar unless we were dressed in "cocktail attire," but we asked another staff member later to go up and he said "yes of course." Many people up there like ourselves simply had jeans and nice shirts on. After spending $75 for 2 drinks each(!!) and not even sitting outside, we still had fun anyway. But the let down was at check out. We had prepaid for parking. The parking attendant demanded to see our receipt and implied we would have to pay for parking again ($45). She was very rude. We had to go back inside to get a receipt as it wouldn't pull up on our phone. We ultimately walked across the street to the other Marriott to get our car! It put a damper on the whole occasion! All in all, I would probably stay at the other Marriott as it seemed nicer, but this one dropped the ball on service.

Owen W.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our experience at the JW Marriott Tampa. For starters service was excellent from the checkin to valet to housekeeping. The pool was very nice the temperature was fairly warm and the staff were serving ice cold lemon water. The staff a the barista was very kind and the coffee was fantastic. The elevators were very clean, fast and comfortable.

MoJo J.

Yelp
I'm not mad about paying $43 for a glass of wine and an Old Fashion. Want to play for to pay. But 1. Learn how to make a proper drink and 2. Have a personality and a clean uniform. This is specific to the lobby bar my past experiences at other bars and restaurants have been positive.

Yelp
Nice hotel. Not great. Much room to improve. The good: very friendly staff (with one noticeable exception), especially the concierge team that got me a Saturday night reservation at Berns and arranged our transportation to and from the Taylor Swift concert. Thanks SHAWNESSEY! Victor at the pool was terrific! Hotel is clean and rooms still seem fresh. Good location. Now the bad: Room service breakfast was not good (stale pastries), valet parking was a disaster due to a terrible system that leaves the poor valets panicked and the maid was very aggressive and scary. This review is mainly about a rude, lazy man named Andrew, who "checked" us in on our arrival on 4/14. Management should take note. I use the word "checked" loosely, as he doesn't think his job requires competence or pleasantries. No greeting, no welcome, just "name and ID", as if we were checking in for our flight. Then when I asked for a late checkout upon our departure, as a Bonvoy Gold Elite, he cut me off and just said "11:00, no exceptions. We're too busy". I think even Motel 6 let's you check out at noon. Then to top it off, he sends me to the wrong room. I had booked a large corner king. We were sent to a basic King room. It's possible he did it on purpose because he was mocking the guest who checked in before me and saw my look of disapproval. Either way, he should look for another job that doesn't require interaction with humans. Finally, we asked for late checkout and we got 2:00 pm! Thanks for nothing Andrew!

Yelp
I've stayed at several of the Marriott properties in downtown Tampa, and this one is my new favorite of the Bonvoy hotels. I stayed in a corner king room and then moved to a one-bedroom suite for my last night, and both were fabulous -- attractive, modern decor; beautiful bathrooms; comfortable beds; quiet, clean rooms. The customer service was exceptional from check in to check out, and Ziad is one of the most customer service oriented employees I've met at ALL the Bonvoy properties at which I've stayed over the years. Thanks for the help, Ziad! I nominate him for hotel manager in 5 years. The concierge lounge is spacious and allowed all of the guests lots of room to spread out. There was a really nice breakfast buffet with fresh fruit, sausage, eggs, bagels, etc. Service was very good. I didn't get to try the evening offerings due to work obligations, but I saw the set up (cheese, hors d'oeuvres, honor bar, etc.) and it looked inviting. The other hotel facilities are worth a visit, too. When we went to the pool area, it was a little chilly, but it will be a fun spot when the weather cooperates. My friend and I had massages at the spa and had a great experience there. There are some spaces for men and women to hang out together before or after treatments, which is nice, and we liked the ability to go outside and enjoy the large hot tub/jacuzzi area. The only gripe I had was that the gym seemed small for the size of the hotel, and it was HOT in there each time. It was crowded each of the three times I went, and it was tough to get a bench and other key equipment. We tried Six for lunch and sat outside -- very nice. I hear there is going to be another bar/restaurant opening on one of the top floors later. It's nice to have an additional Bonvoy choice in downtown Tampa. That area gets better and better each time I visit. Highly recommend!

Fe R.

Yelp
The Hotel staff were great. Room clean. Anita top notch. She is great. The bar attendant was very rude and often spoke out of line. He had a bad poker night and lashed out in a lazy, chauvinistic way. We may have an absolutely unpleasant visit and end upend with lash out unexpectedly. Gaslighting to be expected.

Yelp
I have stayed at this hotel on business several times. It was based on those positive experiences that I booked a stay at the hotel this weekend as a Valentine's Day gift for my wife. While our room at the hotel was fine, my experience with the valet service at checkout this morning ruined the entire experience. At 11:16 a.m. today I used the QR code on my valet ticket to text the hotel's valet service to have my car brought around. After several minutes of not receiving a response, I used the QR code to text the valet service again. This time, I received a response that, "The ticket was already requested." Assuming the car was enroute, I went down to the front door with my wife. After waiting about 15 minutes, a kind older gentleman who is part of the hotel's valet team came up to us and offered to check that are car was on the way. He returned a few moments later to let us know that the key was gone, and our car would be there any minute. After another 15 minutes of waiting, another member of the hotel's valet team, again, an older gentleman, came up to us and offered to check on the status of our car. Again, he returned a few moments later to inform us that the key was gone, and the car should be there. After another 10 minutes of waiting, I went to the valet office to inquire about the status of the car. They confirmed that the key was gone, and someone was retrieving the car (this is now 50 minutes after my original text using the valet ticket QR code). I was then approached by a rather rude manager who sort of apologized for the situation and offered to take the night's $45 fee for the valet service off my room charge. Within 5 minutes, my car arrived - 55 minutes after originally requesting the car. Let me add here that we never observed anyone having to wait more than a few minutes to receive their car. What's more, my wife and I also noticed that we never saw the kid who brought our car around in all the time that we were waiting (Did he take the key and go off somewhere? He offered no explanation for the delay and was not apologetic). The end result of all this is that we ended up arriving late for the Phillies spring training opening game, something we were looking forward to. What a disappointing end to the weekend and a half-hearted attempt at addressing the situation. Think twice before staying here!

Yelp
Wonderful hotel, located right next to Amalie Arena, across the street from the Garrison Channel. The service and amenities at this property are really top-notch, as one would expect from one of the Marriott flagship properties. The rooms are well appointed with beautiful views of the water and downtown; bathrooms (private and public) are modern, clean and spacious. Instead of the usual terrible single serve coffee machines (e.g., Keurig), these rooms are stocked with delicious Illy coffee and the higher-end coffee-maker allowed you to choose from espresso or Americano style. The executive lounge is open for breakfast and happy hour Mondays thru Fridays. The evening hors d'oeuvre selections were minimal (slim pickings with nuts, hummus, cheese and fruit) but breakfast was much, much better. The breakfast buffet included: bagel selection, lox platter, hot dishes such as eggs, bacon, oatmeal, plus fruits, cured meats, cheeses and assorted pastries. The best part of this hotel are the two saltwater pools on the 6th floor. There is plenty of room to stretch out between each guest and there is also live music on Saturday nights to keep you entertained.

Yelp
I have gone to the JW Marriott spa twice for massages and can't get enough! I have been getting massage treatments for years both in tampa and in other cities, and this one is by far one of the best I've had. I came in with really tight knots in my back and explained to my masseuse that I need very firm pressure, and got just that. Im normally not given enough pressure to fully release my tension, but this was EXACTLY what I was looking for! The customizable massage for 90 minutes let me fully relax and feel each knot melt away. The fact that you get access to a steam room, sauna, rooftop mini pool, and get complimentary snacks/teas/champagne flute are the cherry on top! This is my favorite place to treat myself to a luxe self care day. If you are familiar with massages, you can appreciate the level of professionalism and expert treatments that the Marriott spa gives.

Yelp
I travel frequently for work and I have never experienced such great hospitality and service. The hotel and rooms were very clean and updated. The pool area was beautiful and provided lounge chair food and beverage service. The staff from front desk, valet, housekeeping, and in room dining staff were all very friendly and helpful. They honor the privacy tags at the door. Plenty of USB and outlets in the room. They have slippers and mouthwash too if those matter to you (I certainly appreciate it) Basically everything you would anticipate in an upscale room. I even had daily maid service. That is hard to find these days and this hotel completely nailed it! I can't wait to return. PS: Make sure you aren't confusing it with the other Marriott hotel directly across the street from this one when making reservations and checking in.

Yelp
We chose the new JW as a place to kick off our 5 year wedding anniversary!! It was amazing. The hotel is not 100% open but we enjoyed the pool and Six bar. The rooms are spacious and modern and the location is right across from the Amalie arena. There's quite a bit in walking distance but so much is drivable. The staff was awesome. We can't wait to return!

Yelp
Probably one of the nicest hotels i've stayed in! Has everything including dinning, water front or indoor & 3 bars and plenty of attractions near by. Rooms are flawless everything 100% updated and modern. Beds and pillows are comfortable. Had a small miss hap with our room door when we arrived that would not open. Staff moved us instantly to a room on the 27th floor! TO THE TOP! That was pretty awesome and very nice of them. If I am staying in tampa this is the hotel i will be booking every time. If you are a member the perks are even better so sign on up!!! Big plus + walking distance from convention for events.

Yelp
I had an amazing experience and the Marriott for the Fourth of July! When we pulled up to the hotel it was easiest to valet your car since it is on the river walk there isn't a lot of Spence for parking. I got my room quickly and it was perfect as always, clean and organized. Then we headed up to the pool deck/bar and took two of the lay out chair spots and enjoyed the rest of our 4th pool side. Service at the bar was top notch and you can even have some of the menu delivered to your pool chair! I will be back!

Yelp
The hotel was clean, beautiful, comfortable and the front desk staff was the friendliest I have met. We really enjoyed interacting with Chiante. He was so kind to my elderly mother and recommended a few great places to us. There is a stop outside the hotel to the free trolley. You can take it to Historic Ybor area. And if you are a Bonvoy member the Executive lounge is fully stocked.

Yelp
Nice , clean, fancy, and a click or two better than usual Marriott. The staff were super friendly. The pools were clean and without any children to foul and cause kerfuffle. The lobby was admirable and sophisticated. It's a nice place to get a drink. They have massage services but--as you might imagine--expensive. There were restaurants on house. I'll write a review on those soon.

Yelp
The housekeeping people steal from the rooms here. Management is inept and dismissive in dealing with it. I have worked with their claims department only to be met with nasty tones and lack of follow up Which is not usually reflective of the Marriott brand. Lock your stuff up because they have a theft problem.

Yelp
I was super excited for my recent stay here. It's a newer Marriott in Tampa and very upscale. Before now I usually stayed at the Tampa Marriott Water Street directly across the street from the JW... I've always enjoyed my stays there but couldn't resist the up scale, luxury description on their website. Especially the spa, two pools, roof top bar, lobby bar and fine dining eateries on site. Sounds super impressive, right? While the Hotel is grande, modern and very pretty, the staff very professional and beyond polite and courteous, I was very quickly disappointed once inside my room. The deadbolt lock on my door was broken. I reported it and maintenance came immediately but unfortunately they could not fix it. I was offered another room but had already unpacked my things. When showering I found that the glass shower door was letting water out and leaking all over the floor. Mattress, pillows and comforter not comfy and cozy at all. My room service breakfast for one consisting of eggs and pancakes, coffee and tea which tasted average at best cost $90 and arrived NOT hot. My experience at the spa was very relaxing but the robes and towels are not large enough for all body types. The common lounge area was lack luster. Stained couches, food and crumb debris on seating and floor, hot water carafe for tea empty and toilets that wouldn't flush in the women's bathroom. As for my actual massage it was just ok. The steam room, sauna and outdoor spa pool were very nice and enjoyable. Again, entire staff is amazing, so nice, eager to help, professional and definitely strive to make your stay great. I also had a really good spicy Bloody Mary at the lobby bar. What I'm saying overall is that what it costs to stay here, eat here, drink here, spa here and indulge in all they have to offer does not add up. Lots of hype and high prices unjustified. I'm glad I tried it because now I know. If I want a real upscale and luxury experience while in Tampa I will stay at the The Edition, Marriott. I did not dine at any of the JW Marriott on-site restaurants so I cannot comment on them. I made my complaints known to management, and their remedy was free valet parking for the duration of my stay at $45/day. Not what I wanted but I accepted it as it did save me $135.00. I think they should have and could have done more. I am dissatisfied.

Yelp
Luxury is connecting to who we are and not being a part of big aspirations, a global homogenize experience. The service I was brought to was unacceptable, especially at the bar. We are at this breaking point of big corporations, luxury should be tailored to the individual needs. It is over come by ostentatious interiors but little means to the guests. Luxury is catered to the "now" not the when. Luxury is about the experience, but what comes after? We need to connect more into service and the well-being of the traveler. Coming to the hotel I am empty handed, only bringing memories of home, this should be the moment where the hotel should show the true authenticity of the brand. I wish this location would work on the service aspect. Best, Daniel

Yelp
Great location- very walkable with lots of nearby restaurants. We were there for work and really enjoyed the vibe.

Yelp
I stayed at the Marriott for two nights here in Tampa and I guess my brain kept comparing it to the one I stayed at in San Diego a few months ago; I will say the one in San Diego has this one beat. Don't get me wrong it is a beautiful hotel. The gym is ample, the beds are comfortable, they have a keirig in every room, and I came for a conference and the food was decent; Maybe it's just the comparing thing. The staff is wonderful. The pool is beautiful with cabanas but you gotta rent them. Well I guess most people that stay at the JW have a little more money than the average person; however, this leaves me wanting a little more bang for the buck I'm paying. That is my opinion only. A lot of happy people... And one must really search for the self parking because I finally just valeted the car as I couldn't figure it out.

Yelp
I realize EVERYTHING is more expensive these days but $8 for a side order of French fries? Really? Come on, now! I don't even eat ketchup on my fries but I asked for some just to kind of get my money's worth! My room had a lovely view of the Bay, the climate of the room was good and cold and they had housekeeping staff to service rooms daily. All in all it was a good experience but I couldn't get past the $8 fries. I'm not talking about a basket of loaded fries, or a plate of steak fries. I'm talking about a McDonalds Happy Meal size.

Yelp
Fantastic stay here. Absolutely loved the rooftop pool and large gym. The rooms were quite comfy and had a great view of the city. The staff were very friendly and the commute to my office wasn't that bad. I love how close by this was to all the good restaurants and downtown.

Yelp
This hotel is beautiful and super convenient if you're in downtown Tampa. We had a lovely view of the water from our room and the ammenities were great, too. The trolley is right outside and we took that and walked everywhere we needed to go. The front desk staff was over-the-top friendly and helpful. Hot tip, after your team beats the Bucs (Go Bengals), get a pizza in the bar, it was delicious.

Yelp
I was here for a conference so I can't speak to the rooms but the conference was great. The hotel lobby and banquet areas are beautiful, the bathrooms were very clean. Would definitely stay here!

Yelp
Don't get lost visiting this location. There is a partner location called the Marriott across the street. We were attending a concert at the Amalie Arena, which is directly behind this hotel. There are multiple bars, dinner served after 11 and a lively atmosphere during your stay. This location offers great scenery, attentive staff and high end amenities. Tampa has plenty to offer.

Yelp
Absolutely stunning. Everything you would expect it to be-it is an absolute gem. First class everything, including service.

Yelp
I haven't stayed in a room so this review is strictly for the property itself and the restaurants and bars inside. JW Marriott brings a certain level of sophistication to Downtown Tampa that was needed before. Between the restaurant and bar on the first floor, side restaurant, and rooftop bar and pool (which you can buy a day pass to if you're not a guest and want to hangout), there is plenty to see here. The hotel opened in the middle of the pandemic or right before it, so people are still discovering it and I'm sure as Tampa keeps bouncing back from the initial pain of the pandemic it will keep growing. The lobby is always clean and the staff-friendly, throughout most of the pandemic their COVID protocols were also quite good as well. I like bringing people from out of town as well so they can see how Tampa is growing.
