"Named after the Sanskrit word for fire, Jwala is famous for chargrilled dishes cooked in its custom-built tandoori oven. Familiar ingredients like chicken and lamb chop are presented alongside less common offerings such as croissant, cottage cheese and hamachi collar. Tandoori tiger prawns marinated in mustard oil, yoghurt and spices, in particular, boast deep, rich flavours. The knockout curries are seasoned with local fruits and herbs." - Michelin Inspector

We were overall disappointed with both the food and service during our visit to Jwala. The experience started off on the wrong foot — we made a booking through the app, only to be informed a day later that table seating was unavailable and we would have to sit at the bar. This could have been better managed by not allowing bookings if the restaurant was already at full capacity. We ended up rescheduling the dinner a week later, which was frustrating, especially since it was meant to celebrate a birthday. When we finally dined in, we ordered the Lamb Briyani, paneer, their signature artisanal bread, and butter chicken. However, dishes began arriving one after another without pause, and the birthday girl had to specifically ask the staff to slow down and serve the main course later. For a restaurant aspiring to Michelin star standards, I expected more thoughtful pacing — typically, courses should be served one at a time. Service throughout the evening was inconsistent. We had to repeatedly call for water refills, and by 8:45 PM, the kitchen was already being cleaned. The dessert we wanted was unavailable, and we were instead told to order the panna cotta — a disappointing end to what should have been a special night. Given the reputation and the price point, the overall experience — from booking to service to food — did not live up to expectations. Certainly not Michelin star standard in my view.

The food was very flavourful. I’d skip on the shish kebabs but everything else is special. Ruub, our server, was amazing as well and she catered to our wants. She saw that we really liked the papaya and the mint sauce and gave us bowls of them! It was my mums birthday and she sang with us and gave complimentary rice pudding. Really sweet, thank you! We went for lunch on Saturday, I don’t think you need to make a booking at this time.

If you are looking for an Indian restaurant with a nice atmosphere, give this place a try. In terms of food quality and taste, it’s on par with most of the well-known Indian restaurants in the KL area. What stands out here is the service. The waiters and managers were so friendly and attentive. The price is on the higher side, but the food and services justify it.

A beautiful restaurant with a see through kitchen exhibiting an even more impressive kitchen. Indeed all the food comes with a hefty price tag, but I really only find them averagely good. But the naan is outstandingly unforgettable 👍👍👍

Visited in Apr 2025 Jwala was previously recommended to me by a couple of KL chefs as one of the better Indian restaurants I should visit in KL. Therefore made it a point to visit during my recent trip there. There is an a-la-carte menu and a tasting menu. Since I was visiting alone, I decided to go with the tasting menu as it gave me the best option to try out multiple dishes without getting too full. The tasting menu comprised 8 courses (incl the palate cleanser dish) and is more than sufficient for a single diner. The quality of the food was quite good. I especially liked the lamb course. Their biriyani course was nice too. The fish course and the starting bites felt a little underwhelming to me, but all in all this was a good dinner. Service was fantastic. The restaurant staff constantly attended to me and even the head chef came out to greet and have a quick chat towards the end of the meal. Overall, this was a very good meal but I am not sure whether it’s the best Indian cuisine I’ve had in KL. Nadodi still takes the prize in my opinion as the best Indian/South Asian restaurant in KL.

1st time here. The ambience, service and food was great and nice. Had their tasting set menu. Love the prawn, lamb and briyani. Their flaky naan/pratha and dhall was superb. It is an add on to the set menu.
