We were overall disappointed with both the food and service during our visit to Jwala.
The experience started off on the wrong foot — we made a booking through the app, only to be informed a day later that table seating was unavailable and we would have to sit at the bar. This could have been better managed by not allowing bookings if the restaurant was already at full capacity. We ended up rescheduling the dinner a week later, which was frustrating, especially since it was meant to celebrate a birthday.
When we finally dined in, we ordered the Lamb Briyani, paneer, their signature artisanal bread, and butter chicken. However, dishes began arriving one after another without pause, and the birthday girl had to specifically ask the staff to slow down and serve the main course later. For a restaurant aspiring to Michelin star standards, I expected more thoughtful pacing — typically, courses should be served one at a time.
Service throughout the evening was inconsistent. We had to repeatedly call for water refills, and by 8:45 PM, the kitchen was already being cleaned. The dessert we wanted was unavailable, and we were instead told to order the panna cotta — a disappointing end to what should have been a special night.
Given the reputation and the price point, the overall experience — from booking to service to food — did not live up to expectations. Certainly not Michelin star standard in my view.
