I had I high hopes for this place considering everything junya watanabe touches turns to gold but I was a bit disapointed. The food itself is quite good: everything from the rice to the nori and soy sauce was extremely high quality. The wasabi was also freshly grated and they offer an endless supply of ginger. My biggest gripe is their pricing and portion size. Each handroll was about a three biter and you can get five of those for 21 dollars. They had a two for one special that made it more affordable but honestly this is not the place to go for a satisfying lunch or dinner. I understand how high quality food comes at a price but considering the location and clientale this did not seem like a splurge worthy place. Nonetheless the food was great and if I was swimming in cash I would come here often.

What a CRAZY, OUTSTANDING experience!! Limp, soggy seaweed is NOT the way you eat a handroll, people! ALL my MAAAANY years of eating sushi/sashimi I have preached that you CANNOT order a handroll when you're sitting at a table, ONLY when you are at the sushi bar and it is handed to you as soon as it's made. No one listens and I watch handroll after handroll plated and delivered after it's been sitting. Even if it's "just" 30 seconds, that is 30 seconds too long. That will NOT be your experience at J/Wata! Order it, watch it made by a chef who cares, and see it handed to you as soon as the last turn of the roll is made. The result is EXACTLY what you should always get with a handroll - crispy, crunchy, fresh seaweed wrap and equally fresh fish. THIS, people, is a handroll. We look forward to becoming regulars here!

High quality, fresh temaki hand rolls! A great experience that you have to try at least once. The chefs hand craft each roll in front of you. Chic space and good ambiance. I would have taken a picture of the food but you have to enjoy it quickly. We'll be coming back!

I really enjoyed the food here. They were a bit backed up on orders when we got there and the was a piece of shell in my blue crab hand roll however I still really enjoyed it. Their salmon is extremely good and tastes really fresh that was my favorite by far.

They were open Easter Sunday so we decided to give it a shot. So happy we did. The food was amazing and amazing service. They were really busy and being Easter Sunday, they didn't have a full staff. But man, they handled it well. Everybody got their food in a timely manner. There was one really rude couple sitting at the bar who were complaining about the service.. But they got their food in order just like everybody else and we were all very happy. The sushi chef handled them with grace too. I will definitely be going back. Some of the best yellowtail I've ever had.. The dynamite was amazing too.

I remembered it was Sugar Fish? last year, so sad that I did not get a chance to try their omasake yet but looks like they completely changed the brand?? Anyways waiting for more info if this restaurant is still opening after the pandemic. We need good Japanese food!!!

I had the most wonderful experience! All the rolls and sushi is made in front of you fresh, the rice is warm, the fish is cold. You eat it right away. The price is great for what you are getting. I went here with my friend who has gone multiple times and loves it. I would highly recommend! The only problem is parking, but I think that is a normal issues around that area.

I am a fan of J Wata Temaki Bar! I was here for dinner one night and came back the next day for lunch with some coworkers. When empty, the overall experience was wonderful. We got a chance to talk to the chef and inquire more about the rolls. When busy, it's a little tougher. The place is small, and like any place, it can be understaffed sometimes. We waited 30+ minutes for our check so that was a little rough. Onto the good -- the hand rolls! They have predefined sets for lunch and dinner. During lunch, there are some lunch specials which are nice. I need 3 hand rolls to feel full, and it is nice to try the different ones available. My favorites are the blue crab, salmon, and some of the vegetarian rolls. If you're ordering anything to go, I do recommend just placing the order at the beginning of your meal depending on how busy the restaurant is. While there, I noticed that there were many people who did not remember what they ordered. Or the chef makes a handroll and hands it to someone, and they're like "I didn't order this." There seems to be a need for a system to keep track of the rolls where both the customer and chef know exactly what is meant to be made. I would hate to see rolls wasted just because it wasn't something someone ordered or wanted.

Hands down some of the best ramen in SD! Being open late, they're our go-to after a night out if we're in the mood for something warm. I always always get their Red Edition Ramen: Jukusei Fermentation. It's literally comfort (with a bit of a kick) in a bowl! Amazingly decadent broth, springy and thick noodles, and tons of toppings (they're not shy about loading up your bowl). My favorite part has to be their thick garlic chips sprinkled on top. SOOO yummy! Absolutely worth having to deal with some gnarly breath afterwards.

Rakiraki Ramen is one of our go-to ramen locations in San Diego. It is always busy; however, the waits are short (if at all) and the service is fast. Parking can sometimes be challenging in the parking lot; however, there is a nice amount of additional parking on the side street. They have a nice variety of ramen and sushi choices. We have tried most items on the menu and have never been disappointed. The wife's favorite is the original tomcatsu with organic chicken. My favorite is the curry chicken ramen. We have been delighted with each dish ordered. The staff is attentive, friendly, and helpful. Stop by and enjoy the experience.

So I posted this to Google and I noticed my review wasn't posted when I had other people check it. But here is the honest truth about my experience. Great food ... crappy service. If you don't mind a server that rushes you to order and doesn't even give you a chance to speak or ask a question because she's too busy cutting you off all within 3 minutes then this is the place for you. Mind you she only had 4 tables with us included so I know it can't be because she was busy. And even so, making some kind of personable connection with your guest is kind of important in the restaurant/food industry.... coming from experience. And to top it off we weren't ready for the check but she said "here's your check because I have to clock off". Okaaaaay then pass us to the next server and they could get your tip. But I ended up paying and tipping because I was trying to literally be the bigger person here and not fly off the handle. But in the future there are other ways of delivering a check when you have to go, there are more polite ways for you to generally serve guests. I don't know if all your servers are like this but this one needs to be trained in hospitality big time! Everything we ordered was great, it tasted great. But it's not worth coming all the way out here for good food and ambiance when you have crappy service. We came in today around 4pm so figure out who the server is. Female with dark hair. She was the only one serving. I would give a name but she never introduced herself like you are suppose to. Hope you guys take this seriously.

Super yummy ramen!!! I got the spicy miso tonkotsu ramen and the spicy garlic edemame, and they were both delicious!!! The ramen noodles are very filling and don't feel too thin like other ramen places. The spicy garlic edemame was for sure spicy, but also super garlicky! Service was great, our waiter went by our table of 6 to check on us often and the food came out in a timely manner. The place is a bit small but they have plenty of tables. Parking does suck because of the area, so make sure you give yourself enough time for that. I found a spot on the street a few blocks down because their shared lot was packed.

We ordered Yokohama soyu ramen, it's yummy. And also the chicken karaage so flavorful. The staff are kind and attentive also knowledgeable because we ask for suggestions what people mostly order and his favorite. He's very helpful. The ambiance are so cozy, cute and aesthetic. Pricing a little high but worth it. Also they charge for hot tea, but they have beverages free when you check in Yelp. Hot tea not included but they willing to substitute with hot tea. Very nice thanks for the comp.

Haven't been here since 2014 where this was primarily just a ramen spot. I ordered the raki raki roll which has crab, shrimp, and cream cheese with unagi sauce and spicy mayo. The roll itself looked really nice with the green coated tempura, pieces looked big, but the portion was only 5 pieces! Price was a little less than $15. Yes I know prices have gone up for everything, but only serving 5 pieces is pretty crazy in my opinion. Taste I'll give a thumbs up and portions unfortunately a thumbs down.

My ultimate favorite ramen spot. I've been coming here since I was in high school and I don't think I've found a much better ramen shop. Although it can get a bit crowded and the space is pretty tight, the food will never disappoint. They've expanded quite a bit and so have their menu items! We recently visited and ordered the JCK's Chick-n-Chips for our starters and got it with mild sauce. It closely aligned with an Asian-style BBQ sauce if you were to get it from any chicken/wing place. The chicken itself was ginormous and very filling, I'd say this would be good for 2-3 people sharing as an appetizer. We also got the Black Edition Ramen and the regular Tonkotsu Ramen. The Black Edition Ramen has a fermented ingredient that slightly differentiates it from the regular Tonkotsu, but wasn't far off so if you've ever wanted to try it, please do! Their broth is so rich and never too salty, the chashu is charred to perfection and the mochi noodles are the star of the show!

Raki Raki @rakirakiramen Good Ramen! Although they recently changed vendors from the amazing mochi noodles they used to have, the noodles here are still damn delicious! I went for the Oxtail Ramen - Red Addition and I am so glad I did! The oxtail was fall-off-the-bone heaven and I can't wait to come back for more. So far my favorite Ramen bowl in San Diego! We also got the Karaage which was great! Pro tip - ask to get half extra spicy and half regular! The extra spicy reminded me of Korean fried chicken with some sweetness on the heat. Very satisfying! Wait time: I placed my order online on a Friday night around 8:30pm and it took about 50 mins. Services: the to go pick up area is in the back of the restaurant, there is a separate door on the side of the restaurant where you can directly enter that area. You can immediately tell they were super busy, there were very packed and there were a bunch of to go orders. The only thing I would say is call to double check your order is ready because I followed the tracker link that was sent to me and it said the food was ready but when I got there it wasn't yet. However their servers are very nice even though it was hectic. Food: I ordered the Spicy Miso Tonkotsu Ramen, Original Hakata Tonkotsu Tsukemen, and the Chicken Karaage. **FYI I ordered this to go so I can't accurately compare it to eating at the restaurant and it took me 15-20mins to get home to eat this. Spicy Miso Tonkotsu Ramen: this ramen included alot of different toppings like bamboo shoots, half a flavored egg, bean sprouts, and green onions. The broth itself had a good amount of spice and flavor but the soup wasn't sticking on to the noodles well. The fried garlic on top did taste kind of burnt to me as well. This ramen also included chasiu which was also a hit or miss depending on what slice was given. Hakata Tonkotsu Tsukemen: this is a dipping ramen. I really liked the texture of the noodles and the toppings that were included, the flavored egg was pretty tasty. However, in my opinion the soup was too watery for a dipping ramen which meant the soup was not sticking onto the noodles well. When I drank the broth on its own it was very concentrated but when paired with the noodles I could not taste it at all. The chasiu was more on the thick cut lean side which meant some of the cuts were softer than others. If I were to come back to this restaurant I would try something different. Chicken Karaage: this dish came with 3 pieces of chicken but they are fairly big. Mine didn't come with a dipping sauce but I believe it was supposed to. Personally I think it needed the dipping sauce because it was alittle bland. One positive note is that the chicken was still crispy after taken it home. Overall I would like to try this restaurant again but for dine in because to go can change the quality of the dish.

I've gone to 2 different locations of Rakiraki and have been pleasantly surprised both times. Recently took the family out and our usual Ramen spot and it was closed and figured it might be fun to try something different. What was unique to Rakiraki was the filtered water. It was mentioned in the menu a couple of times. But the water was truly delicious. Actually didn't even order a soda because it was that good. The kids all asked for refills as well. I really liked the presentation when the Ramen showed up. The Bowls were each covered with a wooden lid and when it was removed not only was it a fun reveal you could also start smelling the meal. I went with the spicy Ramen (Black edition Ramen) and they aren't messing around. It was super spicy. But what seemed kinda unique was the amount of meat that was added. I ordered the Chicken and I got a ton of it. There was also just enough noodles in the bowl. My wife went with the Chicken Ramen and it looked great. She seemed to enjoy it and shared it with the baby. My boys shared a Chicken Katsu Curry and they were part of the clean plate club. Overall a pretty fun experience. While it was busy the restaurant still felt pretty chill.

Went on a Sunday night and the parking lot was packed but we were seated promptly. I ordered the Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen and I really enjoyed the broth and garlic chips but it didn't come with an egg, corn, mushroom, etc that usually come with a tonkotsu ramen.

I always wanted to give this Rakiraki location a try, I came in on a Wednesday after noon. I waited a bit for a host to seat me, it wasn't busy. The inside of the place is cute I had bar seating since I was alone. They have normal ramen shop choices, appetizers, ramen, rice plates and drinks. I saw that they had a lunch special where I can order a ramen and a rice bow which end at 4:30pm. My server took my order right before happy hour ended. I order a Lunch Tonkotsu ramen, with a beef rice bowl. I was not disappointed, the portion is perfect and both food choices were amazing. It was worth the little wait, and I'm glad I got to ask my server to get down my order. Ramen was creamy and had the perfect balance of pork flavor and cream. The rice bowl the meat was sweet and it was really delicious. Overall it was a good food experience the only thing that bugs me was the host taking awhile to seat. I would recommend this location. My server Angela was sweet.

Stopped in for a quick bite and immediately we were impressed with the friendly welcome we received. Our waitress was helpful with recommendations and despite being busy, was quick with service. We ordered their Rakiraki karaage fries and their gyoza. The chicken was crispy and perfectly cooked. The fries and the chicken were also well seasoned. All of the condiments just added depth of flavor; contrasting sweet with spicy. The gyoza was crispy, but still juicy. It was delicious. We paid $37.88 with tip. Definitely will be returning!

This place gets busy in the evening! And that's because the food is killer. They've got some absolutely delicious ramen, and some fantastic appetizers. Their karaage are pretty big and delicious. Don't forget to chase it down with a big beer!! This is a great spot to either come by yourself or even a party of I would say 6 is pretty manageable, although I'm sure they have room for more. While the restaurant isn't very large, you feel like you're in a large room with the echo of laughter and cheer from everyone enjoying their food and drinks. Also, if you like your ramen spicy you can always ask for extra spice on the side. The parking is far from desirable, the parking in the parking lot even has small spaces, so keep in mind you may need to drive a block or two away for a spot. I personally like a little walk before dinner anyways!

You'll get a decent bowl of ramen here. Good customer service and our food came out quick. Chashu pieces are bigger than most other places, but a bit on the tougher side. I like how the ramen is ran to your table with a lid on it. I imagine it's to keep it hot hot. If you can manage to find a parking spot, check em' out.

I was a party of 2 on a Thursday night and it was packed! Which was a good sign. There's actually 3 different eateries in one which means you can order from all three. My friend and I shared the tsukemen ramen, fried squid, and Tonkatsu Curry. Portions were huge and plenty to share. Tonkatsu was crispy and moist and the curry was flavorful. The noodles for the tsukemen were perfectly chewy, however the dipping broth didn't seem different from regular ramen. Tsukemen is usually thicker and more robust, but this one tasted like regular broth. It was still tasty though. I also loved the portion of meat and egg that came with it.

Kind of torn, to be honest. The place was cute, the servers were fine, and the food was delicious. Was a bit spendy for San Diego, but then again, you get what you pay for, and everything was tasty. Where I'm a bit torn is that after eating the ramen and the karaage, I felt SO bloated and full that I didn't eat again for like 24 hours, just felt 'off' - not sure if I just ate too much, or if something was a bit wrong that day, but I have to admit, it was tasty enough that I'll give it another shot, just in case it was all unrelated.

Late night ramen meet up that didn't disappoint. We came late...around 11:20. They close at midnight. We did not feel rushed at all. Joie explained the menu to us and we ordered. There was a misunderstanding as far as the proteins prices in one of our orders but it was fixed by the manager with a further explanation of how the add one worked so there will be no confusion next time. Food was delicious. We got Black Edition ramen with chicken and added ribs Another Black Edition ramen with chasiu and corn And the oxtail ramen. Everything was so good Was a little loud with a late night crowd but that's to be expected in that area

Go for the black ramen fermented broth. Sooo amazing! I wish I ordered this one instead of the kimchi. We went on a Wednesday night around 8:30pm. It was still popping when we left. Super popular and busy! We got the original, kimchi, fried chicken as appetizer and the black ramen. The kimchi one was a little spicy but it was till good. I should have got the original or black ramen because I like tasting the original broth. You get HUGE portions so you'll be full afterwards. Service was pretty good. No complaints. Seating- you're kinda on top of each other but for a popular place like this it's expected.

Was craving some ramen while visiting San Diego and we decided to get to go the famous raki raki! Is is a popular ramen shop located in Kearny mesa. We ordered on grubhub and they sent the food pretty quickly. It was fast and efficient. I ended up ordering the tonkatsu ramen, and this was delicious and flavorful. There was two thick pieces of chashu with lots of toppings and crispy garlic as well. The portions were well and the noodles were nice and chewy. I enjoyed it but would definitely eat at the restaurant next time!

Rakiraki The place wasn't too busy for 1pm. It is pretty difficult to find parking tho due to all the nearby restaurants. Had to park in the other other parking lot over. Original Signature Chicken Ramen - Solid place for ramen. The noodle were bouncy and I plenty full. The decor was nice.

I came here once a few years ago and I remember really liking it. However, this time around, it wasn't good at all. I started with the Deluxe Jump Crispy Gyoza and I swear they forgot to add the filling because all I tasted was breading. I think they had been sitting under a heatlamp for a while because they looked very crispy, but they weren't at all. The texture was as if they had been reheated or something. I decided to try their Black Edition Ramen and that was also a huge disappointment. You would think something with with soo much garlic would taste more garlicy, but it somehow didn't. Honestly, the charcoal taste completely took over everything in this dish and the texture of the broth was very oily. I would give this place one star if I didn't like it when I came a few years ago. I won't be back again to see if it ever improves.

Hands down the best ramen I have ever had! I came here on a Sunday around noon as a group 4, and was lucky enough to be seated right away. Right after we got seated the line picked up, which is common because I know this place usually always packed. The place itself is cute and I love all the greenery! My group and I agreed that the ambiance of this place is somewhere in between casual dining and nice. Like it's nice enough for a date but also not super fancy. The service was great! Our server was very thorough and thoughtful with the recommendations she gave. Here is what we ordered: Chicken Karage - 11/10 YOU HAVE TO ORDER THIS. It was so good, I could have eaten the entire plate by myself. I loved the sauces it came with and the quality of the chicken seemed really good, especially compared to other places. So crispy and delicious. Original signature chicken ramen with short rib instead of chicken - 10/10 I added a spice ball and corn. The noodles were so chewy and perfect and I highly recommend getting this with the short rib instead of the chicken. It's so flavorful and well marinated. The broth was very delicious and I honestly can't find one thing I didn't like about this dish. Original signature chicken ramen with chicken - 9/10 just get it with short rib haha. One person in our group ordered a ramen bowl with ox tail and said the ox tail was delicious. He didn't leave a single piece of meat on the bone. Over all, I see why this place is so popular! They also have vegetarian options, which I didn't try but the waitress said they are good and considering she was right with all her other recommendations, I believe her. One thing I would be aware of is cross contamination between the meat dishes, for example if you don't eat pork there may be cross contamination between pork and chicken dishes.

First time trying the lunch special and highly recommend. You have 2 options of ramen, chicken or tonkatsu, plus a side dish.

Rakiraki is a great late night spot if you are looking for something to eat. The oxtail ramen is by far so delicious! We first ordered the fries and it was a lot of both of us to share. This is a great plate to order with a group of people. The vibe of the restaurant is always super busy and energetic. Everyone is always in a good mood and you make friends with the table next to you. Pretty fun experience that you meet random people next to you and you all do shots of Sake! Very cool place and I highly recommend not just for late night but for anytime of the day.

Food 3 / 5 quality of the Ramen has notably gone down over the years, matches the now down trending yelp reviews over the years. Quality is about 70% what it was in original early days when their Ramen was actually 5/5 an probably the best in SD. Service and Ambiance 4.5/5 however has stay remained good

I've visited Rakiraki several times since my original review and I have to admit they hit it out of the park each and every time. Hence, my increased rating from 4 stars to 5. Please do yourself a favor and order the Triple Tomato Ramen with the Black Edition. You won't regret it!

Yummy yummy in my tummy. I was craving ramen for soooo long and this was the perfect fix! I got the black edition ramen because I am a garlic fiend. The noodles were bouncy and the meat was tender. I was super surprised because usually when I come there is a long wait, but this time my party of 4 was seated immediately. There's a ton of food options here ranging from karaage to curry and ramen! Perfect for everybody's tastes. Will come again once I crave ramen again!

This is a classic staple of the Convoy area that specializes in ramen, but also serves a variety of Asian dishes such as Korean fried chicken, sushi, Japanese curry, and don rice bowls. It's a bit pricey but the food is always delicious and filling!

It's my first time coming to this store and I got to order two vegetarian/vegan noodles; tomato and tantan noodles! I prefer tomato based noodles because of the subtle sour and sweetness! The place is packed regardless of thanksgiving dinner time! Had a wonderful dinner with my friend! Definitely recommended! I like the Japanese restaurant vibe here! Keep up the good work and cheers

I didn't realize that 9pm was considered dinner time for half of the city! I came here after a Padres game thinking it would be a quick and easy meal post-game, but I was wrong. The entire parking lot was packed, but we lucked out and were able to snag a spot. We were tempted to try a different place out, but figured since we drove here might as well stay. My group of three waited around 20-30 minutes for a table, and honestly we were all pretty tired and just needed some type of food in our system. The pan fried jumbo gyozas were alright, I wish the filling was more juicy. I got the original chicken ramen to share and I thought it was average. It didn't blow me away in any way. I thought the noodles were fun to eat because of the bouncy texture, but it was just a meh experience. Our servers didn't come to fill up our water cups, and although every seat in the restaurant was occupied, they still had a bunch of people working. So there really is no reason for the lack of service. I think it's good, but if you're looking for the best bowl of ramen ever, this isn't the spot.

Located on Convoy St sharing a center with Formoosa, Tapioca Express, O'Brien's, Fire Spot, and other eateries. Tip: go early. Parking in the lot or on the street is often pretty rough after 11:30am. I've had to park as far as 2 full blocks away before for this center. Been here many times in the past. Never had a bad experience, but do be prepared for a wait as this location has always been popular. 4 out of 5 times, there is usually a line to get in. During my most recent trip, went at open and decided to get some Junya's Crispy Karaage togo and the chicken katsu curry. Curry and katsu were fantastic. Chicken I took home were a bit over but fire red sauce helped. Service was good. Met up with a buddy there who got tonkatsu curry and he said it was really good.

With all of the positive reviews I truly had hopes on this spot being super tasty. Ordered: *Spicy Miso Tonkotsu Ramen *Extra Crispy Gyoza *Rakiraki Roll *Original Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen Don't get me wrong, the broth isn't bad but I am just not a fan of the texture of the noodles which is what they are known for. The noodles are made out of mochi. So the noodles were thick and very firm. Too firm and thick for my liking. But people love this spot because you can see the line outside and even while sitting inside their phone kept ringing. They had people come consistently to pick up their pick up orders. Service was ok, not the absolute best but I firmly believe its because they were just too busy. So for a party of 4 on a Saturday night, the wait time was about 30-35 minutes so not absolutely the worst wait time. Would I crave this spot, the answer is no. Would I come back, the answer is also no. Would I recommend this spot? I say, if you haven't tried mochi noodle texture before then I say try it out if the wait time is reasonable. Tips: *Shared parking lot with other businesses. (The taco stand) *Credit card accepted. *They have another location in Mira Mesa. *Restroom available. *Alcohol served. *They have an IG Page. *Indoor/outdoor seating available. *They have chicken ramen.

Visited Raki Raki recently and it was a good time. This time I went with a party of 10. I recommend you make a reservation when going with big groups. They will accommodate and the wait won't be long at all. The bottled water they provide ( free of charge) is delicious! I ordered the ORIGINAL HAKATA TONKOTSU. The portion size is generous and the noodles are so filling. I ask for a spice ball on the side and add to my liking to make my ramen the right level of spiciness. The broth is soooooooooo delicious. The waiter provided good service. I will definitely return for more!

This was such a cute little store and the Ramen was really good. The environment is really chill and casual and this was my second time here overall definitely really recommend if you're in the area. The only thing is that the parking is really small and it gets super busy so definitely try to get there early, but there's a lot of other spots around so even if it's busy, you have a lot of options definitely one of the best Ramen spots in the area

Unique mochi ramen noodles! Very thick, chewy and squiggly. The tsukemen was a little sweet, probably from the black garlic. And not as thick or Rich as I am used to. The miso and spicy miso were savory and tasty. They do not skimp on the toppings either. Raki raki roll was tasty, they also have an impressive selection of vegan menu items here it's like three different restaurants Inside is nice and clean and large. Great for a group. Nice service.

It was ok...we went around 12pm. You have to go early to find decent parking and to not have to wait for hours. I ordered the OX tail ramen. The OX tail was NOT tender, it was very tough and hard to pull the meat off...I was very disappointed! The ramen broth was good, the ramen noodles was typical. I wasn't blown away by that dish. We also got a curry chicken rice bowl. The rice was mushy over cooked.

The ramen and sushi was very tasty. The service was on point, friendly and met our needs. The restaurant is nice and clean. Definitely recommend this place! Forgot sushi pics oops!!!

Love love love the food. The portions are amazing and the flavor is amazing. The service was great, but I feel it bit tight in there .

Tried this place recently based on all the great reviews but honestly was not impressed. The broth was almost devoid of flavor and while the fried gyozas were tasty (but a bit too crunchy for my liking), accompanying them with a dipping sauce would have greatly approved them. Service was great though and the atmosphere inviting.

My coworker and I were looking for a place to eat, and I saw good things about this restaurant. It's located next to Junya's Crispy Karaage fried chicken shop and RAKIRAKI Ramen & Tsukemen on Convoy Ct in Kearny Mesa. The parking situation was a NIGHTMARE. There's so many different shops around that are so popular that I can see it being terrible. But the lot was really difficult to drive through as there were barely any space around I got their Original Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen with aburi kurobuta underbelly. The broth was pretty good with the mochi noodles. It had a nice, deep umami flavor that wasn't too heavy. The downside was the oiliness of the broth. The noodles were very interesting as they had a bounce to them every time I bit into them. Very different but in a good way! I actually wished there were a lot more vegetables as I felt like there wasn't much balance with mainly the starch and protein. But aside from the oiliness and lack of vegetables, the ramen was quite good! I liked the ramen variety at this restaurant and would love to come back to try their Yokohama Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen as I recently found out about the history of it!

I was never the biggest fan of ramen until I tried the Yokohama Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen; it's the ramen of my dreams! The Jumbo Crispy Gyoza is also a must try - it's one of the reasons I always come back. I've come here a handful of times and the food always comes out quick which hungry me always appreciates and the staff is very attentive. Definitely, come early in the day if you can, there's usually long wait times if you're coming in for dinner. Overall, food, ambience, and service is good! Raki raki is a staple in my restaurant rotation.

I've heard really good things about Rakiraki and after my visit, I can see why it has loyalists. The restaurant, itself is really pretty and when I went, I was part of a group of four. For a Sunday night, we waited no more than 5 minutes and had our orders taken soon after. Our waiter was cool and attentive! For myself, I got the Vegetarian Miso Ramen with mochi noodles. Vegetarian Miso Ramen -- 9/10. Overall a very pleasant dish! I was given the option of choosing Rakiraki's classic mochi noodles or green noodles (I forgot what they were made of). Aside from what was already on my ramen, I got a pickled egg and red edition chili oil. The broth was good, the veggies were generously portioned and the mochi noodles were delightful! The only setback from this ramen was that it was just a tad too oily

Food was perfect. I went with the black edition ramen. Everything from the quick attentive service, to the perfect meal and relaxing environment. This location is VERY POPULAR and that being said is VERY BUSY! If you want to have a taste of their amazing cuisine, you best show up early (parking is difficult at peak hours). But 100% worth the "hunt" for a parking space. If you havent experienced the taste this establishment provides, go ahead and prove me wrong!

Really good ramen. And I don't say that lightly. It is tough to find a good ramen that meets my dietary standard. I don't eat pork so I miss out on a lot of ramen dishes because they are made with tonkatsu (pork) broth. Still I like ramen a lot and I will look through menus before I visit a restaurant to make sure they have something for me. Here they serve a chicken ramen, with a chicken broth. The broth was light, refreshing, and salted just right. The chicken was tender and cooked to perfection. The noodles were ideally prepared- just a little al dente. Paired with chili oil, which the server offered me, made this dish the best ramen I have had in San Diego so far. I also really enjoyed the chicken karaage and would highly recommend them to anyone that wants an appetizer. Rakiraki has several house sauces that taste delicious with them too, so don't forget to ask for those on the side. The reason why I am not giving 5 stars is because I felt that the ramen was lacking toppings. Corn, mushrooms, bok choy etc all would have complemented this dish. Please add some toppings to the original signature chicken ramen! Additionally, I would only request that the kitchen serve bulgogi or brisket as an alternative protein for the ramen. I would also ask you to consider adding a beef ramen / spicy beef ramen dish.

When we arrived we got seated pretty quickly and only had to wait about 10 minutes with a party of of four. You enter the room with a welcome shout from the staff which is kinda neat. The reason I give this place 4 stars is based solely on my yummy food and the fast service. The waitress did give a vibe that she didn't want to be there but that didn't bother me too much. I came there for the food. We started off with an appetizer of octopus dipped in a breading and it was delicious with lots of flavor with a slight bit of mush that was kinda tasty. I ordered the oxtail soup with ramen. I was kinda surprised because it was like eating two types of soup at the same time. They put the oxtail separately from the ramen. The egg in the soup was creamy and the broth had a nutty taste to it. There wasn't a vast amount of flavor to the broth which did want me to add the sauces they had in the side of the bowl. I liked the hot sauce they gave with it because it wasn't overly spicy. I wasn't wowed with ramen but the oxtails were super tender and fall off the bone which is what made the ramen more enjoyable to eat. We also ordered the hot saki which was warm and nice for a cold night. I enjoyed my ramen very much but would I go back ...mmmmmm maybe if someone else was treating but not so much on my own and this is only because the total package wasn't quite there for me that night. Maybe if I go back it may end up being a different experience.

Great food and was very delicious. The waiter was kind and very nice.. good for family and friends. Good space and big tables for big groups of people.

I am not a big fan of ramen so I enjoyed they had rice dish options I could choose from. My favorite used to be the short rib with rice and radish however since getting rid of that dish there hasn't been anything on the menu that peaks my interest. They had been really busy in the evening each time I had gone so I recommend getting there earlier or just anticipate waiting a bit before being sat.

The dankest ramen your taste buds will ever have the pleasure of experiencing. When I tell you I never thought my ramen expectations would ever be exceeded, I was truly shocked in amazement by this place. Everything I tried was an 11/10 - Bao buns - The SAUCE - Brussels sprouts - Nice and crispy - Caterpillar roll - Perfect ratio of ingredients Saved the best for last: Spicy miso ramen with black garlic oil added, short ribs - Mochi noodles - The texture is incredible - Broth flavor, spice level, and creaminess - absolute perfection - Have never seen a place offer short ribs in ramen. Delicious flavor! Had to take out of bowl and cut on plate Parking - 0/10 even on a Sunday Hours open until 12am daily? Epic

Love the Ramen at Rakiraki. We had the lunch special which menu says 14.95. But when the bill came, it was actually 15.95.(I think they should update the prices on the menu and be a bit more upfront about the price.) the lunch special is chicken ramen, but you can choose tonkotsu. I added chili paste for $.2.00 and a slice of underbelly for 1.95. The special also comes with choice of small side. We got the fried gyoza dumplings and Rakiraki rolls. Very pleasant lunch. Ramen broth is really good!
