This is a little gem of a restaurant. Calm, pleasing ambiance, our server was lovely and we had a great meal overall.
However, one thing jarred. The moriawase mixed sashimi platter that we ordered didn’t come with wasabi. I’ve never had that happen before. We asked for wasabi which then came but didn’t realise that it cost extra and ended up paying €12 for wasabi. I would mention that the wasabi was freshly grated which was special, but even so it should have come with the sashimi as standard.
Stand-out dishes were the ones that were more unique to the restaurant: the Hokkaido bread with tuna belly and the foie and smoked eel nigiri were exquisite. We also enjoyed the fried oyster.
We left wishing we ordered more of these unusual dishes rather than the sashimi and the salmon roll which were standard fare and just average, as was the beef noodles.
Drinks: decent alcohol free beers. I tried the wasabi martini which was on the too-sweet side and didn’t seem very alcoholic for a martini. However the Arcal 2 Jaen white wine was absolutely delicious.
