10 Must-Try San Antonio Food Trucks - Eater Austin

"Parked on the grounds of St. Mary’s sports bar El Buho, Katii Thai Food is a great option for bar-goers who want something a little more substantial to go with their cocktails. Katii offers ample servings of classic Thai noodle dishes, like pad se ew and pad Thai, with spice level options that range from mild to SOS hot. The mango sticky rice is a lighter option for those who want to end the night with something sweet." - Polly Anna Rocha

Google
I work late, and I am tapped out on fast food like Mcdonalds or Whataburger. I wanted something entirely different. I was looking for something and I thought why not food trucks. I also wasn't in the mood for Mexican either, so the first non mexican that popped up was this Ka - ti. I'm glad I found it because the food is freaking amazing. I love it!! 10/10. I give it infinity. ♾️

Google
Where else can you get some delicious thai food at night or afterhours? Here at this awesome little food truck is where! Their special on the menu I believe #12 really stood out. The fried bananas were legit as well. I highly recommend!

Google
Never disappointed with this mom & pop, a bonus is that they are at my favorite bar on the strip! Always stick with the combo pad thai & fried avocado, but finally tried the bananas and couldn’t get enough! Thank you for doing what y’all do and making me dream of the food!

Google
I love this food truck, I've been going here for years their quality and consistency is always on point. Speaking of which I think it's dinner time...

Google
We got into San Antonio late, but good thing this truck was open! It's located inside the El Buho gate area with another food truck. We got chicken pad thai, avocado fries, and pad see ew, and all three were delicious! The avocado fries in particular were really good. It was also cool that the truck was next to the bar bc we got drinks while we waited for our food. It's obviously a going out vibe, but it was still comfortable to sit, eat, and drink outside in one spot. Highly recommend!

Google
Such a great place! The food was amazing, fried avocado, crispy, warm and creamy. The Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) was so good! I highly encourage a drink at El Búho while you wait, try their Fruit Cup cocktail with an extra shot of the mango habanero infused whiskey.

Carolyn Thomas

Google
Wish they opened earlier but worth the wait. Great consistent fresh dishes. Love the green curry and the pad Thai. Got the pad woon sen for first time and it was delicious full of fresh veggies and yummy sauce.

Kimberly Palmer

Google
My fiancé and I absolutely loved it!!! I had the pad Thai comparable, and it was absolutely amazing out of this world! My fiancé wish he would’ve gotten it (i didn’t share that’s how good it was) Lmao!!😂. But potstickers to entrées to desserts; everything was incredible!! It is a must try.!! Please be kind and reach out!! I love all of y’all!

Yelp
For all my 210 people!!! Listen up!!! This food truck is right by @papertigersatx and is the perfect pre-concert bite. I ordered the 'My ka-tii' which is fried chicken with green curry served with noodles. This chicken was SO crisp even after pouring the curry all over it. They were almost like curry sponges, sopping up all of it but still staying intack. I don't know what witchcraft they used to make it, but I'm not questioning its goodness. The fried bananas were sweet and fun. Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. They came with honey but were great on their own as well. Overall, this place was quick, affordable, and in a nice location. ‍

Yelp
This place always does me justice. Hands down my favorite Thai food spot in all of San Antonio. I don't know what it is, maybe the magic of the surrounding St. Mary's St. atmosphere, maybe the fact that I come here somewhat buzzed on a warm Texas night, but either way, the food just hits again and again without fail. Made fresh to order, the love and passion contained within this small truck is leagues above what you would expect at first glance. The Pad Thai is my go-to; the smell, the look, the taste is intoxicating to say the least. My only regret is that it is only open during such a small window so late in the day, but perhaps the best things in life are not so readily available all the time. A+ from me all day, and I commend Katii for being a jewel within St. Mary's and the city at large.

Yelp
So good! We tried Katii for the first time recently and found the food to be fresh and delicious. We had the Pad Thai, Pad Woon Sen, spring rolls and coconut shrimp and loved it all! We will definitely be back. Perfect for takeout nights.

Yelp
I have been going here for a min but unfortunately found a whole string in my food. I choked on my birthday in front of my friends. Wasn't the best experience. I was pretty upset about the situation and while I was telling them about the incident, the cashier just smiled at me the whole time? It was weird but maybe she was just nervous. Won't be returning.
google avatar

Vivian L.

Yelp
For the price and quality of the food. It's alright. For having to get my ID checked because the food truck is inside the property of a bar? Meh... The wait for the food was a bit long but when I was ordering I already saw five or six food tickets hanging to be made. I witnessed a car get towed in one of the lots so I'm guessing y'all really need to be careful where you park - I did street parking. Overall, it's good if you're around the area and want something to eat while bar hopping. They're open late, so if you're visiting like I was, it's a good place to get food if nothing else is open or everything else seems to be very crowded.

Yelp
Super quick service! We got the Pad Thai and made it a little spicy and it was SO good!! A lot of places make super soggy and overly sweet Pad Thai, but this one was perfect! Been trying to find a good spot for Pad Thai, and this one is definitely at the top. We also got the Sweet and Sour Chicken and made it a bit spicy which made it just right!! We got the Spicy Chicken Potstickers as an appetizer and they come with this sweet sauce that balanced out the spicy, so that was good. We got a soda and a water and everything was about $29 so it wasn't bad price wise. The guy taking our order was super sweet and gave some recommendations. We didn't have too much trouble finding parking luckily, but if you go a little later at night, you might. The food truck is in a bar on St. Mary's street. Pretty smart if you ask me lol. Will definitely be coming back!!

Nathan B.

Yelp
Love this place! My favorite item to get is the sweet and sour chicken while also getting the spicy dumplings.
google avatar

Matthew C.

Yelp
In my opinion, this is the best Thai food in all of San Antonio. I always get the number 10 with combination meat and the side of white rice and it's my absolute favorite. I will always choose this place. If I am feeling Thai food, the service is amazing and the food truck is located in a very cool bar called El Buho, which has very nice ambience

Monica L.

Yelp
Delicious Thai food including green curry and fried avocado which satisfied late night craving.
google avatar

Gaby G.

Yelp
Hits EVERYTIME! The Katii special is the best. Go to late night spot. They are always friendly and get your food out as quick as possible, but there are drinks you can grab for the wait, el buho is very cute with outdoor seating
google avatar

Laura F.

Yelp
I went to El Búho just for this food truck because they have such great reviews. I definitely recommend getting there earlier so it's not as hectic since you're at a bar on the St. Mary's strip if you are just going for food. The food is worth it though, and you can call ahead and order so you don't have to wait as long. The drunken noodle and pot stickers were delicious. I highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Joseph H.

Yelp
My wife and I love Thai food and this small truck does the JOB! It's a Must Have. Please try it out.
google avatar

Micaela B.

Yelp
This truck is located in the front patio of El Búho on the St Mary's Strip. I'm so obsessed with this place that I went twice in the same night! They have amazing vegetarian options. I had the vegetable egg rolls the first time and pad Thai with mixed veggies and no meat the second time. But there are plenty of awesome things for meat lovers to eat too. Whatever the broth is that they cook the food in is to die for and I say this as someone who was not drunk. The people who run the truck are super nice. They won't shout your name out when your order is ready, they just poke their heads out and try to make eye contact with you. Super cute. Anyway, this is my new spot to hit up after a night out on the strip.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. It is hidden inside the entryway to a bar, and even though I have a lot of gray in my beard and said I was just going right over there to pick up food, I was carded at the front gate. So I guess don't plan on pick-up unless you're 21. That said, the food was so meh. I got the garlic dish with shrimp, and there was just no flavor. The sauce at the bottom of the tray was as runny as water and nothing had any discernable garlic flavor or any other flavor. No browning on any vegetables. Soy sauce could have at least given it some flavor if they included a packet for me. They could have sauteed a few cloves of garlic, put all that liquid in that pan and mixed it with a little corn starch slurry or something. Anything besides the flavorless water sauce I got. The only reason I'm not giving this 1 star is because it was a nice trailer and the service was very nice and friendly. I see lots of rave reviews and it's gotta be just drunk people. This not good Thai food at all, sorry. I read a review below that said this was somebody's first time trying Thai food and I felt bad for them. Virtually any Thai place in SA is better than this. Have y'all never been to Sawasdee for real Thai food?

AP V.

Yelp
A hidden gem of a food truck located inside El Buho bar and goodness they have one of the best Thai food in Texas!! And the prices are mostly just under $10/dish, such a steal for Thai cuisine! Had the green curry with chicken and the coconut broth was so bright & flavorful that I ended up ordering an extra portion to take back to Houston! Would I drive from Houston for the food?-no, but I wish I lived in San Antonio so I could frequent Katii! Highly recommended!!!

Victoria V.

Yelp
Found this place on Google at 12 am and immediately got out of bed due solely to the fact that it's Thai food served until late! Best decision made. The food was very fresh and the flavors were immaculate. Curry was perfect amount of spicy and sweet with the infused coconut milk. Try their fried bananas with honey! Such a delight.

Yelp
The most sought after food in the city. If you have the privilege of ordering from this humble truck, consider yourself grateful and worthy of the absolute best San Antonio has to offer. A lovely couple ensure you receive the best late night food this city has to offer. Don't Pass Up.
google avatar

Jay T.

Yelp
Spring rolls changed my life. The taste was immaculate!! Fresh food and friendly service, Katii is one of my top food truck picks in San Antonio.
google avatar

Jessica V.

Yelp
My new go-to spot for Thai!! I had the Katiii special. The green curry was so delicious and was a great combo with the crispy chicken. Was packed perfectly for to-go and easy to mix together when I got home. The spice level was a little low, I ordered Thai hot. Next time I will add some extra chili oil. Quick and friendly service. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Kat C.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food! We stopped by late Sunday night and ordered the combination pad woon sen, My Ka-tii, and the fried bananas. Everything was perfectly balanced and fresh. The My Ka-tii dish was definitely the standout dish. If you're looking for an amazing meal come here! Bonus is they're open late and have an outdoor seating area (that was empty bc of the late hour which was perfect for us)
google avatar

Klaus T.

Yelp
The coconut Shrimp stayed crispy on this long 20 minute drive home !!!!!!!! The inside of the food truck was so clean . I'm extremely happy with all of my food purchases and I will be tipping 20 dollars the next time I come 10/10

LaJoi T.

Yelp
Best Thai food I ever had. Be mindful you will need to be 21 because the stall is located on the property of a bar. I've never had Pad Woon Sen but it was absolutely delicious. This is not the place to "play" with spice levels. Be prepared. Friendly and sweet staff. Went a little over a week ago and will probably go back tonight cause writing this review made me miss it.
google avatar

Lawson P.

Yelp
Food was sooooo good! Customer service was kind and cheerful. I am pretty sure that I'm obsessed with the flavor, quality, and overall experience of everything. Please do yourself a favor, and go try it out.
google avatar

Samantha C.

Yelp
One of the best Thai spots you can encounter, absolutely love the Drunken noodle, pad woon sen, pad se yui, coconut shrimp, spicy potstickers
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
the food is always fresh & amazing, and the service is outstanding! it's conveniently on the st marys strip, but i've gone out of my way to pick up food even when i'm not hanging out on the strip. the street parking can be tricky but it's worth it!!
google avatar

Darianne G.

Yelp
This is BY FAR my favorite Thai food in SA. Very nice people and very good food. Very consistent, I've never had a order that wasn't good. My favorite is the #8 pad see you with beef. It's also located right outside of a bar, before COVID we would always order and grab a drink while we waited. The vegetable rolls are also delicious!
google avatar

Mauricio A.

Yelp
Portion size for the price is pretty bad. Food quality was OK, I ordered the Pad Thai. Normally I would give them another shot but if the Thai place has bad Pad Thai, then I don't think so. The plus is that they are open till 2AM on Christmas Day, but I was all excited and then tried it and said Eeeh. I don't think I have a gave a bad review of anywhere, I'm usually pretty good at finding great places. I mean at least make the portions better for $11 a plate that comes with nothing extra. And I have to give it to them they're homemade hot sauce was pretty good
google avatar

Jocelyn T.

Yelp
I think this is my new favorite Thai spot. I'm on the strip a lot, vegan, & there's never anything really to eat. I had no clue this was right here! For the longest I thought it was another taco truck Lol oops! My bad. It's not. It's one of the best -if not the best Thai food places to eat at in San Antonio. So rich in flavor, not just noodles, it taste so fresh. Plenty of veggies since I didn't get meat, amazing sauce too, and lovely people! 10/10 great experience! I will be back for more! It was all great, even found a new favorite. I've never had fried bananas before but this was delish! Even tasted kind of brunch like. Thoroughly enjoyed. Can't wait to try the mango sticky rice when she has

Micah T.

Yelp
Amazing price and very fulfilling! I got N18 green curry w/ noodles & chicken, it had a tiny kick to it the kind you don't feel until later on while eating but you can still drink water without making the burn worse. Oooo and the hint of coconut was to die for, definitely my new go to for curry, and I'm super picky about my foods.
google avatar

Darya F.

Yelp
Green curry is beyond amazing and the fried rice is addicting! Thank you An for the amazing food&experience
google avatar

Charles M.

Yelp
Awesome food. Big fan of the pad Thai. Quick friendly service. Make sure to try the fried avocado ate them before I even got my order home

Brandon N.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. Their menu was easy to navigate and the prices are decent for the quantity of food. The quality was amazing! The fried rice was very tasty (we had chicken as our choice of meat). We also purchased coconut shrimp that came with a delicious sweet and spicy sauce. There are tables to sit at while you wait (not very long at all). We'll be here again.
google avatar

Roseanna C.

Yelp
5 STARS!!!!! SO DELICIOUS. WORTH EVERY PENNY. I would've provided pics but the food didn't last long enough for me to snap a photo. I HIGHLY recommend. EXCELLENT QUALITY. We ordered Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles, sooooo good!

America R.

Yelp
Came here all the way from Houston with my boyfriend and found this hidden gem. Open really late! This was our first time trying Thai and honestly I wasn't disappointed!!
google avatar

Jonathan M.

Yelp
Good taste and service. It might be small compared to other places but it's a big difference in service and taste.
google avatar

Klarissa R.

Yelp
Love this food truck it's one of my favorites. The pad Thai is great and the pot stickers are even better! The people are always super nice and only takes a few minutes for your food to be ready.

Tank C.

Yelp
Great service, food was well done, opened late, friendly staff.....couldn't ask for anything more. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Hailey B.

Yelp
The BEST Thai food. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. All the ingredients are so fresh and they have the kindest workers!

Jay L.

Yelp
They have their hours posted on Yelp, Facebook, Instagram, and their sign as 10:30 PM to 3:30 AM on Saturday. Went down on a Saturday at 3 AM, they were closed. If you want to leave whenever you want just post your hours like this: Fri-Sat 10:30 to close. It really sucks to drive all the way down there and find you not open during your posted hours. Extremely unprofessional.
google avatar

Jackie H.

Yelp
Superb Tai Food , ever since I discovered this late night healthy food option(open after 10pm-2am), I've been eating here weekly & I have to say everything I try is better than expected! It's centrally located off st Mary's st. /281 in between brass monkey and limelight. Although it's a good truck it seems like the Asian /Tai? Couple who are always here put a lot of heart into there authentic Food!

Jacob R.

Yelp
Best Thai you can get one the go or even when out drinking or having fun downtown late at night. You do need your ID since it's on the same grounds as el bujo bar (21+) and mask is required to order. Friendly workers and they even remembered my friend who was a regular in the nightlife of the area before covid.

Andrew B.

Yelp
I always love coming to this food truck. I can't get enough of the Pad Thai. And the chili oil that comes with it is just absolutely amazing. If you're looking for a quick bite this is the place to go. Seriously, I could eat here for every meal it's that good.

Samantha F.

Yelp
Katii is one of my favorite spots to grab a bite to eat. The wait isn't too long. The food never disappoints! My favorite is the ginger chicken and the glass noddle dish!
google avatar

Priscilla C.

Yelp
Really cool location, upbeat and fun. Love how late this place is open. My boyfriend and I got out of a late movie and wanted some food other than chain restaurants, and found this place. Food was pretty good, I would go back!

Ramos J.

Yelp
Best Thai food truck in San Antonio, I love this place and go every chance I can when I go out on St Mary's strip. Pad woodsen and the coconut shrimp are the best!

Dami D.

Yelp
Listen let's cut to the chase: this place is SO good, it was more than half of my decision when it came to renting a place off St. Mary's strip where they are located. Yes. You read that correctly: I MOVED TO THE STRIP just to be closer to Katii. When I say I love Thai food? I f@#*king l o v e Thai food. I've tried every Thai food spot in SA, every single one. This little food truck is BYYYY FARRRR the best and it blows my mind every single time. There are two things that I judge a Thai food spot by: 1) the spectrum of flavors AND textures in the food and how they complement or enhance each other. And 2) how authentic it is to REAL Thai food. Most locations in SA barely manage to capture the former, with most just throwing together Thai spices and expecting a result. And please don't even get me started on the latter, they just flat out have no idea how to capture authenticity. Katii, however, executes FLAWLESSLY on both metrics. Then stack them against the TRASH customer service you get at most places in SA, Katii is run and operated by the owners -- a couple who are simply some of the sweetest human beings on this planet. They always remember my order: spicy green chicken curry, chicken pad thai, spicy dumplings, with an extra side of white rice and some extra chili oil (which, btw, has to be the food equivalent of crack). And the ONE time they missed an item from my annoyingly complex order out of the 200+ times that I have been there, they REMEMBERED when I came back a week later and already took the difference out of my new order!!!!! Just phenomenal. I honestly can't say enough great things about them. DAMMIT, STOP SCROLLING THROUGH REVIEWS AND JUST GO TO KATII! They are truly food champions of San Antonio and anyone would be blessed to taste their creations. To Katii: THANK YOU for making food nights GREAT nights. Me and mine LOVE YOU FOREVER.

Jessica S.

Yelp
The food tasted good and the customer service was great but I got TERRIBLE FOOD POISONING from this place. I had to call into work these last two days, SO EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK. I got a clear noodle and veggie dish with chicken, I think it was called the pad woon sen.

Bread B.

Yelp
Doordashed this with some friends after a wedding and it was exactly what we needed. All of the food was excellent and had a nice kick without being too spicy! Kai katil was all of our favorite item.

Steph A.

Yelp
First time I tasted this food it took me back to Thailand!! So good you won't regret it!! When I'm in town I eat there more than anywhere else. To the person who claims to have gotten food poisoning it was probably the liquor dude
