How Netflix’s Hit Show ‘Mo’ Uses Houston’s Food Scene to Establish Identity - Eater Houston

"The comedian’s reverence and protectiveness toward hummus resurfaces in Mo when his character encounters a chocolate-flavored, 'shit emoji' hummus at a local grocery store after spending an evening at the now-closed Kaan Ya Makan hookah lounge with friends." - Brittany Britto Garley

Very nice hookah place. You will not be disappointed if you take friend here. I noticed there were sockets around the place for people who want to eat, drink tea or smooke hookah while working

My favorite place for hookah and an easy evening out with friends. Lots of space to spread out, good food and friendly staff. Excellent tea, hookah and Mediterranean food

The hookah is good, but the food was mediocre, cold, and extremely expensive. The service was extremely slow. Our waiter was lost and in a quick hurry. He almost left twice without us finishing our order. My table ordered spicy hummus and spicy fries (nothing was spicy and we were still charged for the spice amount). I wouldn't recommend anyone coming here. There are plenty of other places to hang out with better prices.

They have ZERO professionalism. No wonder if the owner himself is saying we opened this place to have fun. If you come nobody will sit you down but if you choose to sit anywhere you like they will tell you to get up cuz this table is reserved. The waiters will come to you whenever they feel like it. They only care about their regulars but if you are a new face they will just ignore you like you are not there. If you need a good customer service don't come to this place.

My last 3 visits here will be my last. I gave an excessive tip to the one serving me each time on TAKEOUT orders as a walkin & even brought a friend once to dine I hadn't seen in over 10 years. I'll just say the only person that made us feel welcome was the guy taking care of the charcoal. Oh yes and one waiter, when I had ordered something I order at every other Mediterranean food spot in the general vicinity, was kind when i apparently had ordered the "wrong" thing & needed to have the food taken back. I visit alone & become very sad when I spend money on food but don't feel welcome for some reason. The food is good. The female hostess/waitress was a bit snobbish looking at me up and down as if I weren't supposed to be there. Maybe she was having a bad day. Bless you all however & good luck in making this a great place. I will be waiting for more reviews genuinely 5 stars before returning.

Yassim's cafe and hookah lounge was a great experience. My friends and I ordered a wide variety of food and it was all delicious! (let's just say the bill was in the triple digits). Each dish was masterfully prepared and our needs were attended to like you would expect from a fine establishment, The staff was friendly, helpful, and courteous, and made us feel very welcome and relaxed to be ourselves. Reasonable hookah prices and great flavors. Used the special head (an orange) and the hit was so flavorful and smooth. Must have. Give this place a try the next time you're out. You won't be disappointed! ALSO, they're open super late (like,3AM). Party On :)

It’s hard for me to rate this place. That’s because their food is good (although VERY small portions). MJ is a good waiter. However, they have hidden fees and bill you an illegal sales tax rate. The sales tax rate in Texas is 8.25%. This restaurant billed me 12.5% sales Tax (this is illegal). Also, they add a 15% service charge to every order which you aren’t supposed to do in Texas. Overall, good food, but fees, fees, fees. That’s all I can say.
