The 20 Best Restaurants In Amsterdam 2024

"While you can sample Dutch cheese at the open-air markets, take your time and share with friends at Kaasbar. Their wide selection of local cheeses is divided into white, red, hard, and blue types for a la carte sampling or as chef’s choice boards. Sprawl out on the terrace for prime people-watching or sit at the counter and choose off a conveyor belt. Each cheese comes with a paired garnish, so you could go with the Alphenaer with coffee grounds and honey, Brabants Blauw with mejdool date and hazelnuts, or an aged option with cumin that’s paired with curry mayo and lemon zest. They also come with a suggested wine pairing and optional charcuterie add-ons." - paolo espanola

Very good idea for cheese lovers! First seconds can be difficult due to smell of the cheeses, but you will not smell anything few minutes later. You need to make a reservation for bar. Fondue is very big,ask half portion even for 2 person. If you are not expert about the cheeses, better to order mix plates.

We were lucky enough to get a stool at the bar (which I strongly suggest) with no reservation and it was cheese lovers paradise. The variety of the cheeses that paraded in front of us was amazing. One better than the other. Wine list is also amazing and I would suggest you try the cheese house specials. Will definitely go back.

This is such an interesting bar — they present cheese on a conveyor belt right in front of the guests. The whole place is filled with a rich cheese aroma, which will definitely make cheese lovers happy. It's a very popular place, recommend make a reservation before heading. There are so many varieties to choose from on the conveyor, including many rare ones I had never seen before. We tried Chèvre, Le Petite Doruvael Truffle, and Witte van Koning, paired with a glass of Pinot Noir. Each cheese had its own unique character, and they all went really well with the wine!

Nice place with a huge variety of cheese made in the Netherlands. Waiters gladly help you with a choice of cheeses and wines that fit together best. The ones we got were delicious and absolutely fit our taste. If you want to sit at the cheese trail at the bar, I'd recommend asking about the seats there explicitly in advance upon making a reservation.

We had a nice evening with all the cheese options just coming by right in front of you. We tried 5 different cheeses and had some of the side dishes, overall really good. Sometimes the service could be a little bit quicker, we had to ask 3 times for our bottle of water to arrive and we didn’t get one of the side dishes we ordered. Nothing to stress about, so overall, it was a pleasant atmosphere and cool experience with the cheese train!

Amazing concept. About 40 cheeses to pick from. Four varieties - white, red, hard, blue. Loved the blue and red. Paired with nibbles. Very friendly service. Would like to return if I have time. Highly recommend to my fellow Canadian foodies if you are here.

This was such a great experience! I wanted to try this place for a long time and I finally went. I wasn’t disappointed and it exceeded my expectations. The choices of different cheeses are amazing but the unique and creative combinations are what makes this whole experience different. There’s a cheese for everyone’s tastes. The wine that was recommended paired well with the cheeses and so was the cocktail of the day. The staff is very friendly and the service is great! Can’t wait to visit again!

Highly recommend the cheese train, which a reservation is recommended. They do a great job with pairings, and overall was a fun experience seeing what cheeses were coming down the line and trying the ones we selected. We got a complementary plate of crackers, which we didnt even finish. The fig bread was also very good.
