Kaasbar Amsterdam

Ugh. What a let down. We were excited to come here and experience all the reviews made it out to be turns out, the ‘floating cheese bar’ was almost empty the majority of the night. We saw the same dishes pass by during our whole reservation. Sure; they put out a few new ones, which we took, and enjoyed. But the whole experience was meh. We ended up only eating 4 or so dishes from the bar and leaving to find a cheeseburger somewhere. Pretty sad unfortunately. We wouldn’t go back. Service was also mediocre at best, they upsold us with an amuse bouche + cava at 11.50€/ea, which isn’t really an amuse bouche now is it. It’s ok, we expect that, based on the conversation, though not explicitly defined. Waste of a good night in Amsterdam unfortunately.

We had a very nice time at Kaasbar! The menu offers a large choice of cheeses, each paired very delicately. Recommend sitting on the bar to take the most of the experience!!

Kaasbar is an absolute treasure of a place, so much so we came back twice during our 4-day trip to Amsterdam! On our first visit we had a reservation to try the cheese off the conveyor belt system; while the staff did explain how it works I wish they offered some suggestions. We liked the atmosphere so much we decided to come back on Christmas Day for a late fondue lunch and wow - 10/10. ​If you're in Amsterdam, this is a must-visit. Highly recommended for amazing cheese. We can't wait to come back!

Nice selection of cheeses, nice atmosphere. Rude service. I asked a simple question about the menu and was met with derision. Felt like I was being rushed out despite only having sat down for 30 minutes. Was upsold 2 overpriced profertjes.

Exciting and fresh experience! Almost cheese only menu, welcoming service and warm atmosphere. For the first visit try to get sitting on the bar - menu description is great, but seeing the plate is a part of the deal. If you do not know where to start - try number 4 (with strawberries). It worked for all our neighbors.

Such a nice place. We arrived early and got seats on the bar, picking amazing cheeses off the carousel. The staff were great fun, joking with us and telling us who would be made to clean the fondue pans. Lovely wines and atmosphere. Such a good time. We literally saw it on Instagram on the day we walked in. A short walk from the Rijksmuseum and Moco Museum.

This is such an interesting bar — they present cheese on a conveyor belt right in front of the guests. The whole place is filled with a rich cheese aroma, which will definitely make cheese lovers happy. It's a very popular place, recommend make a reservation before heading. There are so many varieties to choose from on the conveyor, including many rare ones I had never seen before. We tried Chèvre, Le Petite Doruvael Truffle, and Witte van Koning, paired with a glass of Pinot Noir. Each cheese had its own unique character, and they all went really well with the wine!

A bit disappointing. The whole place is not very stylish, with dirty cushions and chairs and super filthy menu cards. The cheeses are ok, but I was expecting much more from the way they would be served and the sauces/extras they would be served with. The service is great, though. Nice for a quick meal but generally I’d go somewhere else for dinner next time.
