"If you’re looking for authentic Filipino comfort food and a stage to show off your voice, this is the spot! 🎤 The Dinuguan ,pakbet and so many food 😋 is savory and tender, and the open mic hours (11-4 Sat, 11-3 Sun) are perfect for a family day out. Highly recommend!" and many filipino that's super nice and very talented ,and the owner is awesome too.

Google
Such an authentic place! Wonderful Filipino food! The owner was the sweetest and so fun! She even gave my girlfriend a birthday shoutout in a video for me to send to her which my girlfriend is going to love! I wish I could've stayed here longer as it's the best hospitality and Filipino food!

Google
Kabayan Filipino Store & Cafe in Preston, Dallas is my go‑to Filipino spot now that the other two nearby have closed. It’s clean, friendly, and unique—a combined grocery and café where you can buy staples like polvoron, rice crackers, suka, kakanin, and genuine Goldilocks treats, then dine on authentic Filipino dishes. The food is reliably delicious, portions are generous, and they even offer kakanin and party trays. Located conveniently next to LBC, it’s quick to run errands too. They sometimes host live music or karaoke in the evenings, which adds such a fun, community feel. I rate it 5 out of 5—can't recommend it enough!

Google
The Halo-halo alone makes me want to come back every single day. I'm definitely going to come by on a Saturday to try the roasted Lechon, very exited for that. Besides that I tried their pancit palabok, great dish, and huge serving!

Google
Feels like home !! Great Filipino food, very good selection. Also, there's a mini grocery inside. Ordered Pancit (noodles), Halo-halo (Mix-Mix cold dessert) and rice with entre. The owners Chona and Piolo are very hospitable and always greets us whenever we go there. The staff are amazing.

Google
Kabayan Dallas Filipino Store and Cafe serves up a variety of flavorful dishes that will satisfy your taste buds. The food, service, and atmosphere provide a comfortable spot to dine in or carry out. I recommend you try the pork BBQ on skewers, Batangas Lomi, Pancit Palabok and Turon. These selections were a personal favorite and will keep me coming back for more.

Google
I visited this restaurant three times so far and was impressed with dishes like BBQ pork, pork bicol express, etc. The best part was all the dishes were not too salty. Also, after eating there I don't have the urge to guzzle down water because of msg. Employees were always friendly and very patient in explaining what each dishes ingredients to me. The restaurant was clean and neat. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
My sister and I ate here for lunch one day and we are glad we tried it. We weren't sure what to order and the man at the counter allowed us to sample some of the things that were on the display. Our foray into Filipino food is very basic so it was awesome to try some new things. A Filipino customer recommended trying a squid dish saying it was her favorite but it wasn't quite to our taste but if you like very acidic dishes, it may be for you. We ended up settling on getting adobo, menudo (a type of stew not to be confused with the Mexican one), a pork skewer, and kare kare. We also sampled dinuguan which is a stew made with blood which we actually really enjoyed. The kare kare was thick and delicious and super peanutty. There was crispy pork inside which was very good. The other dishes we ate were good as well. At the end we ordered a halo halo which had ube ice cream, flan, beans, shaved ice, and a bunch of other things. We would definitely come here again for Filipino food.

Yelp
Tucked away... weekend afternoon was busier than expected. There was someone singing karaoke. Nice but a little too loud. The menu is at the front. Average $15. Most people get the cafeteria style lunch with 2 or 3 entrees and rice. 2 entrees is $15. There is made to order items like noodles. Lechon is NOT included in the entrees and charged per pound! The workers patiently explained what each dish is in front of you. There are non pork dishes. Vegetarian options. Got the stir fried noodles with pork (either chicken pork or shrimp). It took a bit for it to be ready but not long of a wait. Big portion. Could split with someone else. They brought it out to me which was nice. There is cash discount. I recommend checking out if you want to try some Filipino food.

Yelp
I have been coming here (Preston Rd, Plano location) for several years and has got to know the GREAT people behind the Pinoy dishes I grew up loving. They are always welcoming and willing to explain the dishes to newcomers. Food is always fresh and delicious. Price is very reasonable, and the portion is very adequate. If you come near closing time, expect you will run out of the "turo-turo" options, so be there early when you can. I am so glad that we have them here in the North Dallas area! Kain na!
google avatar

Edie B.

Yelp
I really do love the food but when they start adding extra fee for the dish they call premium it becomes a turn off. ( Turo Turo style food ).

Yelp
I visited this Filipino store and café and discovered delicious Filipino food here. I ordered the large two-entree plate with a generous portion of steamed rice, selecting the savory pork BBQ on a stick and a richly flavored tomato-based pork stew (I can't recall the exact name). The flavorful and tender pork BBQ, well-marinated, boasted a delicious balance of sweet and smoky char from the grill. A wealthy, tomato-based sauce of the stew complemented the single serving of steamed rice, creating a comforting, hearty meal. I enjoyed browsing the Filipino grocery items while waiting for my food because the store had a welcoming, no-frills atmosphere. This place is worth visiting for a good introduction to Filipino food.

Yelp
Its like being in the phillipines but in texas. 10/10. legit felt like being at a cookout. Karaoke the entire time. It felt very local and everyone knew each other. The cooks even shouted excitedly at the customer after us like "how you been" but in tagalong. Food was really good but hit or miss cuz some of it was out of my league. The chicken adobo, bbq, and the pork stew was 10/10. i had never tried kare-kare (a peanut buttery curry) and laing (taro leaf in coconut milk) before. I did not realize laing was made with dried fish. Its like the main thing. Way too authentic for me. But the halo halo was banger. Definitely get the halo halo. The Empanada was kinda just ok though. Could be more seasoned and the dough is a bit pasty.

Yelp
What a waste of money the food was bland and the lumpia was all wrapper I've definitely made a mistake eating here
google avatar

Yelp
An extension to their grocery store is Kabayan's casual dining area. Eye-catching cafeteria-style buffet. A wide variety of Filipino dishes offered. Wonderful counter server in describing what I was pointing at all through the line. As with all buffets, most appealing to me are the dishes fresh from the kitchen. Delicious were the choices made on this visit of "Pork Belly BBQ Stick" & "Chicken Curry". Ordering off their board, I also tried two mainstays of this particular cuisine. Minimal tasty filling in their crispy "Lumpia"; and, though there was still a big chunk of ice not crushed, lovely was the ube in K's delightful "Halo, Halo"! CHEERS!
google avatar

Danica A.

Yelp
Kabayan is such a great place to get some high quality authentic Filipino dishes. My personal favorite is the Inihaw ng Pusit ("Grilled Squid"). However, they got some classics if you want to just introduce yourself to this cuisine - chicken adobo, pork bbq sweker, & pancit - just to name a few! There is also another location in Lewisville if you're in that area or heading that direction Visit the.pikachew on Instagram & Mukbee for more awesome food pics

Yelp
Service was not friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere was unpleasant. Quite disappointed since I heard good things about this place. Will not be going back.

Yelp
Upon entering, I was immediately impressed with the vast amount of Filipino foods and goods they offered. There were pantry items, frozen, and refrigerated foods. The store was neat, clean and organized and I witnessed them restocking their shelves at the opening time I was there. I loved that they had a place for live music, the balikbayan box service to send good to the Philippines and then the hot foods they offered. Prices were fair and the service was great. I did not give a higher rating due to not trying the foods, just the goods available and the state of the store. All in all, I highly recommend.

Yelp
This place is delicious!!! My boyfriend and I aren't that familiar with Filipino food and we wanted to start branching out, then we drove by Kabayan! The lady behind the counter was very helpful and answered all our questions. The menu was a little confusing for me, so I ordered by pointing at the food. Luckily, she saw how confused we look and offered little sample cups to help with our decision. All the dishes taste SO GOOD with so much flavor and perfect spice level. I got a 2-entrées plate ($10), and my boyfriend got the 3-entrées ($12.50?). Each curry dish came in a styrofoam bowl which is perfect because each dish is unique and I didn't want them to mix together. The spicy chicken dish was creamy with a small kick. It was spicy when I taste test it alone, but it wasn't bad with the rice. The pork belly and pork skewer were surprisingly good! It wasn't dry and bland as I imagined, but juicy and the burnt char around it added even more flavors. We devoured our plates and still had 2 bowls of curry left as leftovers. I really liked the taste, price and service here. Their dine-in area is nice, but make sure to clean up after yourself. They also have a little store on the left side that sells like snacks if you wanted to try some.

Yelp
The made to order menu was delicious! The meat under the food warmer was just ok. Friendly, clean and entertaining.

Yelp
We ordered the Bilao Platter for our family of 4 for lunch and enjoyed it. The BBQ stick and liempo were tender and had an amazing marinade and smokiness. Although, the karaoke singing throughout was nice, but it was a little too loud for us.

Ann B.

Yelp
I guess it's an ok store. I can find stuff I need especially Filipino grocery stuff. It's overpriced though. I just justified that maybe their overhead is high. But to continue to have customers they want value for their money. The only reason I went there is I can't find the spaghetti sauce I wanted anywhere and their price is $10 compared to $5.99 in another store but they're out of stock. Anyway, it is what it is.
google avatar

Elaine M.

Yelp
Came for the halo halo and even though the restaurant was going to close in 30 min, I was able to order the dessert! They only had bbq left and so I got 3 skewers of the pork belly. Man it was so good. $11.99 and let me tell ya, those skewers were stuffed. Flavor was really good. I'll be back (hopefully waaay before it closes) to get the Lechon, fish, or maybe the grilled squid. There grocery part is really tidy and clean! Lots of yummy asian snacks, ice cream, frozen foods to choose from.

Yelp
Please read before you order. I'm going to share the amazing things about this place first. THE BBQ sticks and Music! BBQ sticks are the only TRUE delicious thing here, in my opinion!!! Please before going all out to order anything else, do NOT have huge expectations. Here are my concerns: 2 beef sticks and rice is $12 (it's like $6 a stick). We were already eating there. To pay for 2 extra sticks should have been only $8. A small rice shouldn't be $4 added. Lumpia is a 1 star. Burnt, full of cabbage @ $4 for 2 tiny pieces. It's similar to Panda Express. Needs more carrot and celery. But the fact that it was Burnt and came out after we finished eating, was disappointing. Adobo is a 1 star missing the depth and all oil, no flavor. Flan is a very tiny piece for $5 The music in the background is 5 stars Didn't get full amount back for change, needed to send the lady to get my $10. Owners need to be more mindful when they ring up! It's not like a new cashier person's error. Plus, she isn't the nicest. Unappreciative it seems. I felt a little concerned about the change thing after reading that they add tip to the receipt on the other review, WHICH I already put a tip in the jar but not giving the right amount with my change, I felt she just felt ok to keep as a tip. Ask me first though. Don't use a credit card, they may put whatever they wish for tip!!! Again, read other reviews. The BBQ sticks were enjoyable at least. I'm thankful for that and that's why I didn't give a one star. Business practices should be evaluated. So much potential for this place! Just seems a little too hustly. And lady owner just should stay in the kitchen if she's having a bad day. She's too irritated. I hope she feels better. Lastly, I know times are tough. I don't want this review to dampened anyone's outlook. This review is an opportunity to make the situation better. That's all my intention is to bring back the fun and affordability to our culture. PS stop calling all the ladies "Ate"... please. For anyone that doesn't know what "Ate" means it means Old Sister. LOL

Yelp
I don't regularly visit places hosting food from the homeland--because mom's cooking is always the best, but every so often, the craving hits and the opportunity presents nearby to grab some Filipino food. Kabayan gets my favorites cooked up right: from the yummy pork liempo and crispy lechon kawali, to the decadent crispy pork sisig--breakfast elevated. I admit not every diner skews toward my protein preferences for anything pork belly and the "exotic" cuts; to them I say, dine adventurously. Other menu items: standard appetizers such as the pork BBQ skewers and eggrolls are pretty snackworthy. Bicol Express was overpowering in its use of coconut milk/cream which the spicy peppers helped to take the edge off, but I would have preferred a more balanced flavor. Pancit palabok was a little tame, I would have liked a stronger shrimp flavor and additional garnishes to liven up the dish. Kabayan's ginataang halo-halo is representative of the dessert, chock full of yams, tapioca and sticky rice balls. I'd order this again. Kabayan is a tasty experience worth repeating.
google avatar

Bay M.

Yelp
Their servings size are ridiculous. They only give you one scoop of rice not even a full scoop even if you order the supposedly "BIG" plate. They want you to buy it for $2.50. You know how the Filipinos eat rice, right? You have three different dishes and still only one rice. So stingy and yet they charge you crazy. Ambiance is clean. Service so-so as if they're doing you a favor by you dining there. No need to take a picture not picture worthy. Just telling the truth. Although I'd like to patronize the Filipino business. I would only eat here on an emergency basis.

Sarrang P.

Yelp
Recently opened store in plano. Pretty small like the Lewisville location but there is enough seating. A small grocery store and a Cafe type restaurant connected. Its pretty straightforward and easy to order. If you don't know what something is, they are very nice and will explain it to you. Try the bbq pork skewer, halo halo, & chicken adobo!
google avatar

Yelp
I visited here today with a friend who lives in the area who highly recommended this place to me for authentic Filipino food. I don't understand all the negative reviews here as I did not experience any rude customer service. The lady who works here even remembered my friend from previous visits and her order. I ordered a fried tilapia from their food section, and honestly didn't know what to expect but I was really impressed with the taste and freshness. They made my fish to order, and it came as a whole fish rather than just a filet. For the price (I think around $8?) it was well worth it.

Winston C.

Yelp
Down home Filipino cooking at its finest. Desserts the very best! Try to go when they have Rossy Franciosi providing music on weekends. Outstanding performer

Ann Rose R.

Yelp
Good fresh Filipino cuisine, odered the lechon it was made to order, hot, crispy and delicious, Pancit and garlic fried rice also very tasty. Shopped at the store, they had a good selection of Filipino products u can't find at reg Asian store. The bonus was the karaoke singer! Greats songs! Will come again,
google avatar

Pysan Y.

Yelp
If the quality of the food wasn't so good, I wouldn't come here ever again: I took my family to this location and the immature girl at the register was TOTALLY DISRESPECTFUL and was rude when I had asked for more food. Although I'm half Filipino, I know well that your average Filipino person doesn't behave this way. On top of being rude and disrespectful to me, she was previously nastier to my wife. I thought I could have a nice, relaxing lunch with my wife and baby, and this girl almost totally ruined it (already was having a long day at work). When her credit card machine wasn't working, she grabbed my card right out of my hand and started trying to insert the chip, just as I had done... only to yank it out and tell me to swipe it, as if I'm some incapable adult. I was so close to calling her out right then, but I figured to let everyone know here that this girl is a recurring problem. Other than that, the curry chicken and the barbecue pork belly were unsurprisingly delicious. The food is the only thing that earned Kabayan on Preston Rd one star. Jollibee just a minute drive away always has better service, even if they're Filipino fast food.
google avatar

J C.

Yelp
Great Bbq and inihaw! Worth the trip whenever we have a craving for Filipino food! Plus the mini grocery is so convenient! Call in for special requests in case it's a specialty!

Victoria H.

Yelp
Delicious food and ample seating. I love the little grocery store next door and the karaoke singer on Sunday afternoon! Thanks for singing happy birthday to my daughter and to Chona for saving us a table for my family of 7!! Please open one in Frisco!! :)

Yelp
Not too many selections. Food was decent Barbecue Pork Belly was good . Although place is clean

Yelp
Good and fast food to order Awesome restaurant I hope I can order I wasn't able to order it's out of the range too bad.

Yelp
Stopped at the Peston Location. Had all this pretty good. Pancit it would have been good except for the very dry very old chicken that was unacceptable. I took the chicken back and encouraged them to not serve it with their good pancit. Fresh chicken isn't too much to ask. Egg rolls very good. He offered to make me some fresh and I said no one strike and that's it. No offer of. a refund. Probably not on our list to go to again. We really want to enjoy it we love Filipino food , when we lived in Lubbock I a Filipino nurse one of my colleagues just took a sound like family they are amazing people Probably not going back. We ate a lot of really good homemade Filipino food while living in Lubbock. This was mediocre at best. The desert coconut stuff is pretty good stew was pretty good the fried rice was pretty good. Lots of Filipinos eating in there. The live band was good enjoyed them Three star is generous

Yelp
This is a small Filipino convenience store located in North Dallas that also has a cafeteria-style restaurant inside (with very limited seating). It is located inside a strip mall with a decent sized parking lot. During my visit, I didn't buy anything from the convenience store but came strictly to try out the food. They had roughly 10-12 different entrees available. You can either order a combo plate or order a la carte. I tried the papaitan, pinakbet, adobong pusit, and bbq skewer. They all tasted fairly good but could use more flavor. In addition, the entree servings were a bit on the small side. Also, just FYI, there is an upcharge on certain items. And so, make sure you ask before placing your order. I know that Jollibee is just down the street from this place. But if you want Filipino food that is not fast-food, definitely come check this place out if you want some home-cooked Filipino cuisine!

Hayde M.

Yelp
This was a very good restaurant. The food is delicious. They are very friendly And karaoke for everyone. Also clean and they have a grocery section
google avatar

Yelp
Best Filipino food in Dallas :) love the food here . I'm literally buying here every week or every other week . :)

Yelp
I loved everything I got here!! Their service and atmosphere here is so comforting and uplifting! They even had live music entertainment!!
google avatar

Yelp
1/18/2021- Monday@ 1329 Nearest Filipino store from where we live! Lots of Pinoy products. The "Chicken Curry" tasted awesome.
google avatar

Faith N.

Yelp
This location is smaller but still has the convenient store attached. No attendant so if you purchase anything you have to go to the food area to check out. Slim pickings when I came on a Wednesday lunch for to-go. Should definitely check your order before leaving because they forgot my lumpia order and didn't realize until I was home. The menudo was underwhelming. The pork bbq was okay. Lechon kawali was meh. Place is clean, staff friendly.
google avatar

Yelpe R.

Yelp
Purchased the Lomi. Very very salty!!!! Waste of my hard earned money! I don't plan to come back here anymore.
google avatar

Mavel F.

Yelp
Awesome food! Great service and very friendly staff. Answered all my questions and gave suggestions. Also the restaurant/store is kept clean.
google avatar

George W.

Yelp
We tried the Halo Halo, Chicken Adobo and Lechon. It all tasted great! The Halo halo had all the proper ingrediants. There is a Large seating area of 10 tables and they have a tv playing ABS-CBN news.

Jad G.

Yelp
Returning customer, as usual, great food! Thanks again, chris, leila, and kabayan dos.

Marc M.

Yelp
Shrimp Shabang looked good. Sauce was tasty but oversalted. Because heads and shells were on, none of that flavor reached the meat and it was very messy to eat. Further, the shrimp was rubbery, overcooked. See pics to see what you are getting here. Gut, shit and all. No lumpia on menu. Get real!
google avatar

Casey V.

Yelp
Wow! The food is just as good as the location in Lewisville! This place is a gem! Live music and yummy food.
google avatar

Luz W.

Yelp
Food serve are so delicious make me feel at home, the menudo is my favorite. My go to when I feel home sick for filipino food

Lyndon P.

Yelp
Too Salty Mediocre Filipino Food! I have ordered 4 dishes: Pansit Asado with Chicken, Adobong Chicken, Pampano Sinigang, and garlic rice. When I got home from the restaurant I was very excited and started eating the food. I found myself so disappointed about the food because the Pasit Asado was too salty and the chicken was very dry. The Pampano Sinigang was extremely salty that I had to do some adjustments and recooked it. I have added more eggplants, Dikon, and 5 1/2 cups of water so the soup can be diluted and can be eaten. The Chicken Adobo was ok but not great. The garlic rice was too salty too. I believe that your seasoning is too salty making the food unhealthy.
google avatar

Benjamin L.

Yelp
Regulars from their original store in Lewisville. Great stop for Filipino food. Owners are awesome!
google avatar

Anthony B.

Yelp
Been meaning to try this place out- it's definitely a small shop so it's probably easiest to do take out, especially during these covid times. I tried some pork belly and their egg rolls. The egg rolls are fried to order so they'll take a few minutes. The pork belly skewers were ok, a little heavy on the fat but the flavor was decent. The egg rolls weren't bad either, but nothing to shout home about. Service was ok. All in all, fairly average.
google avatar

Shaera H.

Yelp
These folks KNOW Filipino food!!! It is authentic. How do I know? Well, I am half Filipino and my mom cooked all that they offer. Plus the staff are super polite and have a great memory as they recalled me from their Lewisville location. You MUST try the BBQ kabob. IT IS THE BEST. Decent prices and a clean location. Love them. 5 stars hands down!!!
google avatar

Kristina H.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience at Kabayan! I was greeted by very nice employees and felt welcomed from the beginning. The food itself was delicious and reminded me of home. I'll be back!

Yelp
SO GOOD!! Love Filipino food so much!! My wife is Filipino and we went for lunch and it was beyond excellent. You will not be disappointed by this place. Don't know why people are so negative about the staff and food. We where greeted with friendly hellos and the gentleman taking our purser was super nice as well!
