12 ‘Hidden’ Montreal Bars To Know - Eater Montreal

"Not “hidden” per se, but subtly tucked alongside clubby Datcha, this cozy space serves as an espresso bar by day and a cocktail bar by night, boasting one of the best Moscow Mules in the city (partly thanks to fresh ginger). Prepare to rub elbows with other patrons at the bar as there is only one table in this snug abode. Note that later on some evenings" - Carla Bragagnolo

We had the most wonderful girls dinner here on Saturday evening. Our server Katherine was an absolute gem and really made the experience worthwhile with helpful suggestions and wine recommendations! The beef tartare was a standout, and the entire atmosphere of the place was wonderful. We then stayed for when it turns into a club and had a fantastic time! Would highly recommend!

A Hidden Gem That Just Keeps Getting Better! I recently went back to Kabinet in Montreal for the second time, now under new administration and new Executive Chef — and I have to say, I didn’t think it was possible, but the experience was even better than my first visit! The atmosphere remains as stylish and inviting as ever, but the new team has taken things to another level. The service was flawless, and the food… absolutely unforgettable. Highly recommend the salad (fresh, vibrant, perfectly balanced), the smoked trout (a standout—delicate and flavorful), and the asparagus (elevated to perfection) Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. If you haven’t been since the change in management, it’s time to go back. And if it’s your first time, you’re in for a treat

The duck breast was top notch. Medium rare, juicy, soaked in the pepper sauce. The marinated fennel in the center was a nice touch

We really enjoyed the place! We were sitting on “chef’s table”. Food was delicious. We had a great experience with staff, suggested bottle of wine was exactly as we requested. Ambiance was just perfect for our small date night.

The atmosphere and interior decor are amazing! The drinks are not bad. The food however, was not impressive. The Caesar salad was not good imo. Still a great place to catch up with friends over some wine, I would recommend !

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience at Kabinet. It is a small restaurant and we were seating at the "chef's table". The point of the chef's table is that you can engage and communicate with the chef about the food/ingredients and unfortunately again this was not the case for us. But I could see how you can have a different opinion, chef was very chatty and friendly with his acquaintances, talking about dishes and origin of ingredients he uses... Which is something that can clearly enhance the experience. The menu was limited, with a small bites section and a caviar section. There was not much of appeal to me but decided to try the bourgot which were served cold over leeks. Dish was not good. My friend had the snails and said it was ok, nothing special. Wine list is entirely natural and I had a great glass of red from côtes du Roussillon. Service from our waitress was nice but everything else was not worth me leaving my house.
