We had reserved a table for New Year’s Eve. We had known the restaurant for years but never found the time to try it. When we received the confirmation for the table, and considering a price of €250 per person excluding drinks, we naturally had very high expectations.
We were four people, two of whom also come from fine dining. The welcome was still friendly, but from that point on everything went completely downhill. The table was set for only three people, the fourth place setting was different from the rest. No tablecloth, uneven tables, loud disco bass from Café del Mar, and the air conditioning set to 15 degrees.
It took 15 minutes until we received the first glass of water and 25 minutes until the first bottle was opened. The food was an absolute disaster as well. In the first course, part of the dish was missing, there was zero acidity in the dishes, food different from what was listed on the menu, the sushi rice was a disgrace, extra charges for wasabi, and so on.
If in a restaurant like this the sushi rice has absolutely no flavor and a temperature of no more than 7–8°C, then one really has to question oneself. We had a bill of over €1,200, and for the first time in my life, I did not leave a tip, because everything was so unbelievably bad that at times I honestly thought we were on a hidden camera show.
That this restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in 2024 remains, in my opinion, one of the greatest mysteries of mankind. There is an urgent need for improvement across all areas, from the kitchen to the service team
