"A small family-run Afghan restaurant and market, seating is limited at Kabul Corner. Their spiced ground beef-stuffed mantou dumplings are adorned with freshly made yogurt. The bolani gandana turnovers are stuffed with leeks and herbs, served with yogurt and chutney. Their naan is baked fresh in their tandoor oven." - Jackie Tran

The food was delicious and served in generous portions. The staff was friendly and attentive. Each dish came with a salad and your choice of naan or rice. While the dishes were slightly on the pricey side, the seating area was quite casual, located next to a small grocery aisle.

Google
Highly recommend trying this place. The food is superb, and not something you can get anywhere else in town. In addition to the food, they have many items you can buy in the market area of the shop. We had the saffron tea which was delicious, and I would also recommend the beef boulani, teka kabob and the rice pudding for dessert. My friend had the dumplings and they were tasty and very tender as well. Everything was very fresh, and the value was very good.

Google
A friend recommended Kabul Corner to us, so we gave it a try. The staff are very friendly and polite. The inside is very clean. They have a market with lots of different rice and dessert for sale. The food is very tasty and fresh. The rice is something to write home about. They have vegetarian options also. We would definitely go back to this place

I’m torn about this place. I want all local businesses to thrive. I ordered the qubali palow, the menu said chunks of lamb. What I got was old lamb shank buried under rice with julienne carrots and raisins garnishing it. It was underwhelming. It was not what was stated on the menu, meaning they dumped leftovers on me. The second item was a chicken dish, can’t remember the name, it was coated with oil and the chicken was days old and dry. Maybe when it was made it was good, whenever that was. The salad that came with this was just cabbage, sliced tomato, lime wedge, and sliced cucumber(no dressing). Not sure what the intention of that was, definitely not a salad. I went to this restaurant at peak lunch time on a Saturday, and there were no customers. That should have been a red flag, but I had to try it out. I also tried an appetizer which was a thin dough filled with leeks, slightly spicy, grilled, browned in oil, came with a vinegar green sauce and yogurt sauce. It was okay. Also, some microwave heated days-old bread came with the meal, once it cooled down it was hard as a rock. Lastly, we ordered a dessert which was like a funnel cake, fried strands of wheat flour fried in oil then soaked in a rose water sugar syrup. They had this dessert pre-made in a deli case. I asked the proprietor if I ordered this would it be made fresh and fried to order, he said, yes. What we got was the pre-made item microwaved, lied to and disappointing. If I ever return here they need to really think about what they are serving. My food was days old and reheated. The place also was a store with retail goods and never understood why they mix the two, but the retail goods have been there a while. I was really hoping to get some extraordinary ethnic food. I don’t think I am returning to this restaurant because they won’t change their operations.

Google
Never had Afghan food before so I’m not sure on authenticity of dishes. However, the dishes were savory, fresh, and came in big portions. Prices are fair for quality of food. We had fantastic customer service and one on one attention. The place is very clean. The market within although small, has quite an amount of interesting products! It’s a small place so it’s easy to miss but it’s totally worth trying.

Google
Delicious! I had chicken kabobs, my friend the lamb ones. Tender, succulent, satisfying. Enough to take home for another meal. Served with rice, naan, and a tasty salad. Allow enough time to explore the little market there- lentils, spices, rice, tea, all sorts of nuts, and tempting sweets.

N'Dea Walker

Google
Excellent restaurant!!! The food is absolutely delicious. The service is quick, attentive, and wonderful. There’s a little marker in there that has a lot of cool ingredients and food. I got the dumplings and they were simply just perfect. I need to get some more soon! It was a cute little place. I wish it was busier because this place definitely deserves it.

Google
Deliciously seasoned meats and perfectly cooked rice with large portions per plate. The doogh is refreshing and the desserts are perfect to end the meal on. Attentive service and a very friendly atmosphere with an Afghan market as part of the restaurant.

Yelp
Amazing Service would recommend to anyone! I love the food, the most authentic afghan food you can find in Tucson!

Nelson H.

Yelp
One of the excellent kabob I've in town!!! Grilled chicken with yellow ginger power were tasty, crispy n delicious!!! It's an authentic kabob cuisine!!! Vegetables and green spicy sauce were so freshly and cold enough!!! I added some soda, it's a perfect match!!!

Jeff B.

Yelp
On Friday I got 2 takeout items & both were very disappointing w/very little taste. The eggplant was very bland & their pudding dessert was devoid of any flavor

Kimberley C.

Yelp
Food was very good! Made to order, great taste, and awesome service at pick up! They were out of french fries, but he gave us extra naan. I would order extra chutney next time because it was so good, but the little cup you get wasn't quite enough for me. Will order from here again!

Judy M.

Yelp
We got the chicken kabobs delivered this time. They are still excellent and highly recommended! There were several pieces of chicken, and lots and lots of rice, enough for a second round tomorrow. There was also a small salad and naan that came with the kabobs, rounding the meal out beautifully.

Mark A.

Yelp
Under the bright lights of a very clean store, there are tables and put on those tables is some of the best Middle Eastern food in town. It's down the street from home which is always a plus, first we had the Bolani Gandana a leek stuffed turnover which was amazing cooked perfectly and who doesn't love leeks. The Bajan Barani, which is eggplant cooked perfectly with naan, I could not stop eating, it was cooked to perfection and the oil was perfect for dipping. We also shared a chicken kebab and it was nice and tender. What was the best was that when I walked through the kitchen to the bathroom, the kitchen was so clean and the family working there were so nice. This is a place I can go back again and again and again!!!!

Bella G.

Yelp
Owner is incredibly kind and attentive. Tea was delicious. Fair price on tea and snacks. Food was also great! From the outside I could never tell there was a restaurant inside but very glad we tried it. We liked everything we got.

James B.

Yelp
I had dinner here last night with half a dozen friends. Two of us ordered a Qabuli Palow to share. Twenty minutes later, the server apologetically told us that they had run out of it and asked if a Mantou (Afghan dumplings) would be OK. We said yes. She brought each of us a full portion and didn't charge us for them, which is classy. I only paid for my Doogh (yogurt drink; $2.99). I enjoyed the Mantou as well as some tastes from my friends' plates. Service was friendly but slow enough that we almost were late for our movie. (The problem was with the kitchen, not the server.) I don't want to discourage people from trying this place; just leave extra time, as their kitchen couldn't handle even a half-full restaurant in a timely manner. In addition to the restaurant, there is a small market attached, full of interesting but expensive Asian foods.

Kristina K.

Yelp
I decided to try this place out with my friends last night and definitely had a great meal! The restaurant is very small, with a few tables, and is also a small market. Two of us ordered the Chicken Kabob, one person got the Teka Kabob (lamb) and one person got the Banjun Burani (fried eggplant). The portions are generous! The naan that came with our meals was a little dry for our liking, though we still ate it. However, the food itself was delicious! The chicken was perfectly tender and seasoned, and the rice had a great flavor! As the restaurant is more casual, and primarily about the food, the service is a little lacking. If you need more water or a box you will likely have to ask directly. Despite this, the food is great and I would definitely come back to try more!

Yelp
What a wonderful, locally owned, quaint little restaurant and market... with the friendliest, kind, and hard working owners and servers -- when I walked in for my first visit they treated me like an old friend! It may be useful for first-timers to know that this is indeed a little market & restaurant that's focused on very high quality food at very fair prices... it's by no means a formal or even semi-formal dining experience -- just a simple market ambiance with great people and fabulous food. I ordered a couple of entrees for take-out and it's true -- the portions are enormous(!!!), one could easily make two or maybe even three meals from the kebabs alone. I ordered one chicken and one teka (lamb) kebab and they were cooked and seasoned perfectly -- large tender pieces of chicken and lamb, melted in my mouth, small sides of sliced tomato and cucumber were fresh, ripe, and flavorful (it's more of a side to cleanse your pallet than it is a small salad, as a few other reviews have complained about). It's the kind of yummy goodness that you just want to keep eating even though you were full ten minutes ago! As for the market, it too is small but there are some excellent bagged spices that are much cheaper than you'd pay at a regular grocery store, and a nice selection of big bags of rice, steamers, tea pots, etc. If you like baklava, don't pass it up! Highly recommended and I plan on being a regular!

Yelp
The food was delicious, with generous portions. The service was friendly. I'll be back!

Yelp
Kabul Corner is a market and restaurant. It is family run and operated too! The market is packed with Afghani goods- from dried fruits to chickpeas, snack foods, and more. They also have a baked goods section with a variety of cookies, cakes, and pastries. The owner Ritiek is super friendly and enthusiastic about her business. She gave us her personal recommendations on what to eat. So we ordered the Bolani Kacholo to start. They are called turnover but they resemble a thin dough almost like tortilla that is stuffed with potatoes. The yogurt and chutney were delicious! They make the yogurt fresh in house. The chutney was super flavorful. Qabuli Palow which is a lamb dish served with traditional Afghan rice sauteed carrots and raisins. And the Chicken kabob Which is also served with rice and chutney. Both entrees are served with cabbage and sliced tomatoes, which really didn't add much to the experience. The tomatoes were not ripe and the salad wasn't dressed. The portions of rice of enormous. They can fed 3 people. The lamb and were good. Next time I plan on trying the Mantou (dumpljngs).

Marcia M.

Yelp
I had seen the photographs of their meals on the window, but never had an opportunity to go in there until today. If you're looking for a great Turkish restaurant/grocery store, this is it. Broaden your horizons and try the mulberries or the rolled apricots that they sell. They've got teas and rices and spices. A good selection of entrées and appetizers. Chicken lamb, beef, and vegetarian. I had the Bolani Kacholo (turnover stuffed with a seasoned potatoes and served with chutney and yogurt). Excellent excellent appetizer. When they say a turnover, it looked more like a quesadilla sized entrée. But oh so delicious. I met with the owners and their son. The wife took the time to explain what the various snacks were. I highly recommend this establishment The venue was clean, well lit, with multiple tables.

Belle V.

Yelp
This is a small business and it's a market and has a tiny dining room area. They have products from Afghanistan which really look so good! They have cakes that look really amazing! I was not able to get one because they are huge and it's a commitment. Service was good, two men working the counter and one working the kitchen. Food is freshly cooked and very delicious!

Anne G.

Yelp
What a treasure!! I'd been wanting to come here, and while running errands today, I thought, why not? SO glad I did!! The food was excellent, service very attentive, and it's spotlessly clean. Wonderful photographs of Afghanistan and the people there on the walls, and a terrific market inside of the restaurant. I will definitely be back-and bring friends next time!

Betty S.

Yelp
What a great little restaurant! I had the eggplant Burani. So, so delicious! My wife had the chicken kabob which was so moist, tender and perfectly seasoned. The staff was very personable and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Jessika C.

Yelp
Kabul Corner is hidden behind the Sketchers store off of E. Fort Lowell and Campbell Ave. The manager of the store who served us was attentive and a delight. She's from Afghanistan and been in U.S. for 17 years. The chef escaped Afghanistan in 2021. This place is part restaurant and part market. I ordered the Teka kabob, which were two lamb kabobs. They could have been a bit more tender and seasoned, but overall they were still good. I liked the tomatillo & cilantro sauce, and I wanted to drown all my food in it. I wasn't expecting then bread to be as tough as it was, but I haven't had Afghan bread before, so maybe that's how it is. I liked rice the best as it was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The portion size was large and I couldn't finish. Afterwards, I spied the roht bread/cake behind the counter and added it to my purchase. The overall experience was great and I will revisit.

Shyma S.

Yelp
Awesome food and excellent customer service! Love the music and ambience ..authentic afghan food 5stars all the way

Steve S.

Yelp
The lamb flavor, spicing, value is outstanding. It was a leisurely lunch and we were in no hurry. Fresh brewed tea. Clean, bright, friendly. Will return

Ann P.

Yelp
This place is an absolute hidden gem of incredible food. Being vegetarian I was a little worried they only had two vegetarian meals but it does not matter one bit, once I had the Banjan Burani (eggplant dish) I have never looked back. This may be my favorite meal in tucson. (Also, I bet it could be made vegan if you didn't add the bit of yoghurt drizzled on top, but that's just a guess, you'd have to ask). It's so fresh and flavorful and warms you inside and out. My husband gets the Qubuli Palow (rice and lamb) and it is a monstrous meal. He raves about the juiciness of the lamb as him and our 3yr old devour the mountain of rice, raisins, carrots and lamb. (And that's saying a lot when you can get a picky toddler to eat a meal like that). In any case, don't let the bright lights or grocery store vibe put you off, this place is magical. (Also, the owner is very friendly and nice).

Jennifer K.

Yelp
Excellent food! I had the do piazo (lamb stew), and hubby had mantou (dumplings filled with ground beef). Both were incredibly flavorful and delicious. Even the rice was exceptional! What struck us both was that in eating these foods for the first time, they felt like instant comfort food to us. The gentleman who helped us (I assume he was the owner) was extremely kind and welcoming. We couldn't have enjoyed our meal more and wish this amazing market/restaurant was in our neighborhood. If you're in the area, don't miss the opportunity to eat here! What a treat!

Chelsea J.

Yelp
I had read about this restaurant on Tucson Foodie and added it to my list of places to try. It's a very casual restaurant, there's a little open market beside tables and chairs for dining in. The owner was so incredibly nice and explained the menu. We were intrigued by the Doogh drink so she brought a sample. It was not good, very salty watery yogurt, so we were glad we didn't order it. We split the Shami Kabob which she said was medium spice and it was delicious. I loved the flavor of the meat and the rice that came with it was so so good. Even though we split it, that meal is good for one person. It looks like a lot because of the rice, but the portion of meat isn't filling for 2. The naan was dry and inedible. The owner said the chutney is her mom's recipe-made with tomatillos and cilantro. It was a great condiment for the meat and veggies. Prices are very reasonable. I can't wait to try more items on the menu.

Colin G.

Yelp
I'm so glad Tucson has an Afghan restaurant again! I would prefer it by the UA again (like Sultan Palace was), but I know rents have gotten ridiculous and it's hard enough to make it as a restaurant with a random cuisine. But I was a regular at Sultan Palace when they were open, and always loved going there for shola. I asked about it, and she said it would coming soon, so I'm following them on Instagram with the hopes of catching it. It's also a market though! And they have lots of delicious native Afghan foods like chickpea cookies, almond cookies, nuts, and even halal meat. Dessert was very good and came with free tea. You should try it!

Bianca A.

Yelp
While traveling through Tucson I found this place on Yelp. I got excited to try food I had not tried before. I was in for a great surprise. Kabul corner has Fresh and delicious food. Family style portions. The food was more than enough to feed a group of four. The chutney was delicious. The lamb was tender and juicy. I enjoyed the ferni topped with pistachio. Great service. I would definitely return.

Erika J.

Yelp
Food was incredibly tasty and the place had a relaxing atmosphere. The service was great and it was a pleasant surprise to find out the restaurant belongs to the family of one of my former students. Definitely recommend this place!

Sarah H.

Yelp
Got takeout tonight and it was excellent! Fast and friendly service and delicious food-- what more can you ask for? We tried the qabuli palow, bolani gandana, and the chicken kebabs. Portions were large and the flavor was excellent!

Kenneth W.

Yelp
The food reminds me of the Afghan cuisine I've had elsewhere, particularly in New York, which is to say it is delightful. Less spicy than Indian, Afghan food is one of my favorites. This strip mall shop is not particularly impressive in its decor, and the small range of market items available does little to add to the atmosphere. However, the staff are friendly and the service is outstanding. I do think a bit of music might help to make Kabul Corner seem more authentic. A bit larger menu would also be welcome, especially if it included stuffed nan options. And, please less coriander. I know it is a major herb in the Indo-Pak region, but many of us don't like it; perhaps the guests could be asked about their coriander (cilantro) preference. All that said, we will absolutely be back for another delicious meal.

Chris K.

Yelp
Large portions, reasonable price, food is good. The ambiance, well it's a grocery store with tables, so that could mean killer food. We ordered a lamb rice dish, a spicey kabab, and an app of a turnover stuffed with leaks. The rice dish was great, too sweet for me, buy my wife loved it. The lamb was fantastic and melted in your mouth. The turnover app was basically a large naan folder over some sparse ingredients, they did not hold up and wasn't that tasyt, however they made a great vehicle for the delicious chutney. The spicy kabab, wasn't spicy (they say you can request it to be spicier) and strange enough it came with a side fries. The kabab was moist and tasty, but I'm still confused by the fries. I think a more traditional Afghani side would be better. Oh the dishes came with a pointless salad (cabbage, tomato, cucumber, thats it) again a more authentic side would be appreciated. Give this place a shot, I sure am going to go again.

Heather P.

Yelp
Best meal in Tucson. The Kabul Corner is an absolute delight. The food is indisscribley delicious!

Peter J.

Yelp
Wonderful menu freshly prepared and served with grace and a smile. The food is carefully prepared with fresh spices, with some interesting and tasty choices. Clean, bright and inviting.

Naqib S.

Yelp
Excellent food, superb service, generous portions, and reasonable prices. Good place for Afghan food in Tucson, Arizona.

M S.

Yelp
Do you love lamb? Then you are in luck. Fantastic lamb stew (which they split with another person in our party of 7). I tasted 2 other dishes (the Qabuli Palow is outstanding). Their food is delectable. Dinner is served on platters. Seriously, a platter of food. No one left hungry! Too bad we didn't have room left for Baklava. Complimentary cup of hot tea with an order. BTW, everyone working there had the most beautiful smile. Can't wait to go back!

Adel A.

Yelp
First time eating Afghan food. The ambiance is one third restaurant, one third bakery, one third grocery. They had some music that felt like the vibe i thought it would be. I had the Shami Kabob, Doogh drink, and bolani kacholo and a black tea after I finished eating. The Shami Kabob was amazing, I used the bolani kacholo which is like a potato inside a thin bread(looks like a tortilla), and put some of the ground meat kabob on it. I also dipped all the food in the green chutney and yogurt sauce. It really is delicious. Lots of good spice used in the food. The Doogh drink is like a cucumber mint type drink. Its a little thick, almost like a yogurt. If you want it to be a little sweet I ended up putting some sugar in it. It was really good either way. The hot black tea was very good if you are into tea. Lots of different spices in there. Good pick me up after pigging out. I like the fact that everything is made to order, and you can tell its family owned. They really care and you can tell. Ill be going back to try the lamb and chicken kabobs and maybe another type of appetizer.

Erin O.

Yelp
We got the mantou, quabuli palaw, and bolani gandana. All were amazing and unlike any food I have tried before. The lamb in the quabuli palaw fell right off the bone and the sauces that came with the bolani gandana were very good. The restaurant is located inside a store and is pretty casual. The service was amazing and the lady waiting on us helped us decide what to try and was incredibly friendly. We also brought home some baklava which was very good.

Wayno G.

Yelp
Like most Americans, Afghanistan is a corner of the world we aren't acquainted with. I heard about the restaurant from a segment on Kgun-9 and decided to try it out. My buddy Mark served in the Peace Corps in the 1970's in Afghanistan. He couldn't remember the name but he said it had rice, carrots, and raisins. It is Qabuli Palow: The National Dish of Afghanistan. That's what I ordered for lunch. The dish is kind of like Rice Pilaff (the nuts in the dish were pistachios or almonds). The rice hides the lamb shanks unseen the rice. It was a delight to the eyes, and the taste was outstanding. Gently blended spices, that produced a beautiful dish both visually and and tastefully. The prices are on the high side: $15-$25 range. Much of that is because the meat must be halal: permitted. The preparation is in accordance with Islamic beliefs. The staff was Dr and attentive and created a welcoming atmosphere. There is a small market there as well that sells Afghan foods. I will save that exploration for another day. They are very much a welcome addition to the Tucson gastronomy scene.

Jesse D.

Yelp
This place is a fantastic, family owned restaurant and shop. You want delicious chapli kebab? You want mandu? They've got you covered. You want to buy some halal meat or some spices? They've got it. The service is prompt, warm, and friendly, too. This place feels like home. Go. Now.

Yesenia Y.

Yelp
Great ambiance, excellent & friendly customer service. Food had such great flavor. Definitely recommend the chicken kabob, the nan was excellent. Definitely coming back again!

Viveck R.

Yelp
The food was excellent... the owner was very kind and helpful... great little grocery area attached which had some delicious nuts brought in from Afghanistan...we ended up getting a few boxes of those too

Ahmed A.

Yelp
Absolutely love this new little gem in Tucson. I invited a friend here and I got the Qabuli Palow while my friend got the Chicken Kabob plate. Both were delicious, with special shoutout to the Qabuli Palow's mix of aromatic spices (flavorful spicy, not hot spicy), and how the chicken in my friend's plate was juicy and excellently flavored. Also, the service was outstanding, the small family feel really comes through, and the owner and her husband are both very lovely. The ambiance is nice with no frills, conducive to both a peaceful meal or a conversational dinner with others. I have been in Tucson for 9 years and I'm so happy that Afghani cuisine has been added to the scene here!!! Must try!! (I never review anywhere but I loved this place so much I downloaded Yelp just to post this!!)

Tmnt F.

Yelp
This was my first time ordering Afghan food thanks a recent Uber driver's recommendation, and I was so pleased! I ordered the Qabuli Palow, which had juicy pieces of falling-off-the-bone lamb in tasty biryani rice, decked with veggies. Also tried the Bolani Gandana appetizer which was like a flatbread or pancake with a zesty vegetarian filling. Everything was super fresh and I have leftovers from the ample portions. The third-party delivery service was a little pricey, yet it arrived in a timely manner and I was able to spend more time enjoying my food rather than dealing with traffic on Campbell. Next time I order will be in person . Happy Eid tomorrow!

Hillary S.

Yelp
All dishes we tried were excellent! We know the food was cooked fresh because it took a bit of time. Casual ambiance. We will be back to try more items!

Hassan B.

Yelp
Excellent food tasting, great meat quality and lovely service. If you want to buy some oriental stuff there are some available. Highly recommended

Thom M.

Yelp
For years I have wanted to try this cuisine. I am sorry I have waited so long. My friend and I tried it for the first time together and at Kabul Corner. We were both very pleased with our experiences there. I had the Qabuli Palow, a wonderful lamb stew and Basmati rice dish. Don't think stew in the Western sense as it doesn't have a broth. But don't let that stop you, it is still so flavorful and the lamb is so tender. My friend had the Mantou, Afghan dumbplings stuffed with seasoned ground beef and topped with a garlic yogurt sauce. This was another great choice! We both really enjoyed this dish as well. We finished lunch off with small pastry typed desserts. Perfect ending to an excellent meal. I hope to try something different the next time, but I did love my dish!

Joy T.

Yelp
Delicious food and wonderful staff. Food taste very fresh. Having never had this type of cuisine I was happy the server could explain what each dish was. They may need a bit more staff to serve as when they get busy it takes a while to get your order. It might have just been an off day. Will surely return to support locally owned family businesses.

Andreas K.

Yelp
I have been to Kabul Corner multiple times with both family and with co-workers. I genuinely think that Kabul Corner has some of the best food I've had in my life. The service is extremely friendly and makes me want to come back every time! I would highly recommend the Montu dumplings. They are probably my favorite item on their menu and you will be blown away by the flavor.

James L.

Yelp
Great flavors. So happy we found it.the Owner is super friendly. We are excited to come back and try the other food in the menu

Kellie F.

Yelp
We came here for a late lunch. Two of us are gluten free and the owners explained what we can and can't eat. They had a lot of options. I got the Qabuli Palaw and the lamb literally falls off the bones. Then the raisins make the rice sweet and delicious. My husband got the Chapli Kabob. It looks like a big burger and tastes amazing. The seasoning is very good. I wish I knew what they used. It also came with a green sauce which my daughter feel in love with. Our daughter got the Do Piaza which had very moist lamb that had been stewed and the rice soaks up the stew giving it amazing flavor. Definitely will be back.

Bill L.

Yelp
An absolutely outstanding dining experience. The food is excellent the portions are large and everything is freshly prepared.

Mark B.

Yelp
Great addition to the area. The location doubles as a store selling Middle Eastern food items. Ordered Teka Kabob consisting of lamb. Flavors were there. Old Afghan war vets may be nostalgic but the bread is not the same and the lamb isn't grilled. Nevertheless, it is still good to have a diverse option here.
