NUTRITIOUS AND DELICIOUS! This place is amazing. Authentic Afghan food with a casual vibe. Everything on the menu is made fresh upon ordering. The service is excellent, the staff are welcoming and kind. We had this fresh made healthy lentil soup, mantoo dumplings and lambchops with fresh potato fries and salad. The lambchops were the most tender and tasty I've ever had anywhere and even the fries have a unique flavor! I highly recommend this restaurant. Wow. Everything on the menu is so good! Thank you!

Google
I asked for their special dish, and they recommended the Kabuli Pulao. The taste was absolutely amazing—rich, flavorful, and truly mouthwatering. The portion size is generous, almost too much for one person to finish. Highly recommended for anyone who loves great food!

I came for the dinner buffet, and it was awesome. Variety of food from Qabuli Ozbeki to fish soup and salad, beef and chicken Koobida, and Ferni. Truly enjoyed the atmosphere, and the staff are super friendly and hospital. Definitely come back, Inshah Allah. Recommend to anyone looking for authentic Afghani حلال food.

After driving from Los Angeles to San Diego we got hungry. Kabul Kabob House was recommended by one of our friends in San Diego. I love the food coz it remind me almost the same test as in Kabul. Kabuli Polaw and lamb chops were special. Thank you Kabul Kabob House for the smooth and quick service.

Google
Wow!!! A rare, small, find. Excellent service, casual dining and unbelievably tasty Afghani food. Small place, and out of the way, but definitely don't miss this opportunity for some rich traditional food. Bring a big group of friends too. Seating is plenty. We had the lamb shank with a traditional rice ( delicious raisin carrot seasoned rice). The lamb shank falling off the bone, tender. The meal came with a tiny bowel of traditional chicken and chickpea soup, a plate of sliced cucumber tomatoes sweet red onion and lettuce, and a little bowel of bean soup/stew. We also ordered the eggplant which was absolutely AMAZING, served with a seasoned sauce and yogurt sauce and a Giant. fresh made hot fluffy bread- kinda like a non-oily naan bread 3 x the size you get at a grocery store! You have to try this place and for those of you who prefer the unique flavors of Halal meat-- this place serves only Halal and advertised so on their building sign. Lots more on the menus for us to try . And we will!!! Did I say they had fantastic very friendly service?!?!

Google
Excellent food (I especially like the chicken kabob and the soup served at the beginning of the meal), and even better staff! Staff have been very kind and understanding during my visits. I've been there 5+ times and have had nothing but good experiences

Updating my review:- Today after long drive from SoCal , we come for Eftar to have Afghan food and from other hand support our Afghan restaurant business but unfortunately after long waiting to find someone to take and asking for service although all tables were reserved without any notice which was unacceptable and unexpected. We really disappointed for the first time see miss management.

Yelp
Is very nice place with very good customer service. Delicious food and nice test The price is good also.

Yelp
I've never been to Afghanistan , but coming here to Kabul Kabob House is like being in Afghanistan as I would see it on YouTube channels. The food is so fresh and so hot once it comes out. I ordered for 3 people and we got soooo much tasty fresh Afghan food. Please come here and experience what I just experienced. 10/10 words can't describe how everything is just remarkable.

Diner S.

Yelp
Overall a solid Afghan restaurant. The Kabuli palau was on point. Both the potato and the leek bolanis were perfectly cooked. The mantu and the lamb kabob could've been better. The owners are super nice and accommodating.

Yelp
Visited this restaurant yesterday we ordered 3 different dishes Qabeli, Mantu, Bulani The meat in qabeli was smelly lamb, the Mantu wasn't good too much meat in it and Bulani was too thin and over priced, So it was disappointing because we drove from Los Angeles there, if someone care about tasty food I don't recommend this place I gave them 2 stars because the waitress was nice

Yelp
Food is actually good. We had the ramadan buffet option, the kabul polo with lamb takes the crown. The chicken kabob, with special afghan red sauce was brilliant. However the beef was too dry. Sabji you can keep eating, but curries were not as brilliant. The nan was slightly stale (probably because it was part of the ramadan buffer package, as later i noticed patrons were getting fresh nan. The rice pudding was bad. But worst was they were not providing water for Ramadan breaking fast. Some good food, ambiance, there was none and service can be much better.
google avatar

Daniel R.

Yelp
The food is horrible, cold and bland very small portions, they do not fire cook the kabobs instead they were boiled in water on the skewer it was absolutely nasty, these guys are a sorry excuse for kabob makers, save your money and time and go down the street there are plenty of other good places around, Kabul Kabob House SUCKS

Vijay A.

Yelp
The service was very prompt and friendly But the food took it to a whole different level The potato Bolani was out of this world good. The red kidney beans and sauce were delicious.
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
This is a review for their eggplant dish. It was outstanding and I also enjoyed it with their bread dipping it in the sauce. I requested the yogurt sauce on the side so I can't comment on it since I didn't try it but the eggplant was OMG. Trying to eat vegan, the eggplant was so light and moist. We are returning from the Laguna Mountains and happen to be passing by the area with young children, who are very hungry, so this was a good find.

Yelp
this place has the WORST customer service ever. Legit TRASH. I came in a couple weeks ago with my mom telling her how I tried the food here at a food festival and was SO EMBARRASSED bcuz of how much the service and workers here suck! We walked in and were confused at first bcuz we didnt know if its a place you seat yourself, or they seat you, so I asked the lady who was the cashier and she was like oh let me ask. She proceeds to ask and then comes back and was like oh there's gonna be a party here soon so idk if you can eat here. and we were like oh okay i guess we'll get take out then, and then she was like wait nvm you can grab a table. and then we picked a table, and she was like no no don't sit there, sit somewhere else. so we sat somewhere else and she legit got UPSET THAT WE SAT THERE?? LIKE LADY WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU, LITERAL PSYCHO I SWEAR. Like she told us to sit wherever we wanted and then got mad us for doing so LOL anyways my mom and i look at the menu and we go up to the counter to order, and half the stuff we wanted she said they don't have anymore, and then she proceeds to tell us "oh you can't sit here anymore and need to take the food to go now because of the party that's going to come". I was fed up and legit was like we're not ordering anymore and the lady really got upset that we didn't order after her horrific service. Like someone needs to come teach the workers here how customer service works bcuz its legit TRASH. I would never enter this establishment ever again just bcuz of the service alone.

Yelp
We ordered beef tikka and lamb tikka, the taste is terrible . It was poorly marinated . The taste of lamb is so strong and disgusting. Not fresh beef or lamb . Very small cubes. I will never eat here again
google avatar

Shekib O.

Yelp
This restaurant is the best Afghan food in San Diego Best lamb tikka Kabab- best Kabuli palaw best mantoo and more important the best customer service clean restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Ziad A.

Yelp
So my friend brought me here saying not many afghan options in San Diego but this was zabiha halal. We got here the place was very nice, not packed but that is ok. We got the menu and sat down. We ordered an afghan burger, one beef kabob with bread, chicken tikka kabob and chicken shaami kabob and chapli kabob and bolani and shamsi kabob as well. The bolani came after well at same time as main items but we were hoping it to come first as an appetizer, it was ok not the Best in terms of texture but it was flavored well, could have been a bit spicier. The rice in the dishes was not good at all for an afghan standard, I've had good afghan food in the Bay Area in NorCal so this was very dissapointing. The chicken kabobs were also not juicy and had a plastic ish look on them to describe it. The chapli kabob had no flavor and was like very similar to a shaami kabob. The fries were also soggy as well. Overall the afghan food standard is very low in San Diego and would recommend they (chefs) go up to NorCal and try out places like de afghanan in Fremont for comparison. For the prices they had the quality was not worth it. But atleast there was no music so 1 star for that. Hopefully they can fix the food quality asap.

Yelp
Amazing meal, I drove by on the way to the car wash and saw so many people out front. Came by 30 minutes later and saw on Yelp that they had very good ratings. Asked my buddy in NYC if he approves of the menu items which he did. LOL Ordered a few items and they came out in large family style portions! :-) lamb, beef, and chicken and mantoo with chicken curry. Way way too much food and ended up taking a lot home for leftovers. Great customer service, excellent and fresh tasting food. What is there not to like? For sure will return!
google avatar

Sage S.

Yelp
AFGANHAN foOd is super delicious and one of my top favorite foods now I TRIED THE WHOLE MENU The rice with rasin's is something I would of never had tried before trying other dishes and so good. Sweet and savory If you want a culinary treat.... try here Everything is bomb
google avatar

Tony A.

Yelp
I've eaten here in person and got better service. I did their delivery service and look at this picture. They charge you more than $20. By the time you get your food you're spending 35 bucks for some rice. What looks like hamburger the whole thing is a joke I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Aryan K.

Yelp
The chapli kabob meat was raw and chicken curry was not even close to a curry. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Yoshie O.

Yelp
Delicious food and great customers service!! I had medical issue but now I can go there!! Thank you!!

dw s.

Yelp
Support your local family owned businesses. Came here for lunch and had the two skewer shish kabob plate with soup and salad rice and fresh bread.. Generous portions all around.... About $ 16.00 for more food than I could eat.... Do try them!
google avatar

Nidawi K.

Yelp
We came here to eat halal food but unfortunately it was not cooked well. They said chicken was grilled but when we got our order it looked and tasted boiled without much flavor and so does the rice which tasted bland . Although customer service was good, the food wasn't good enough for the price you pay. Definitely not coming back.

Yelp
My husband and I went to this restaurant last week and we both got severe Food Poisoning, I recovered in a couple days, my husband however had to stay in the emergency room for 3 days, we are currently taking legal action against this restaurant.

Jim J.

Yelp
I got food poisoning here tonight the food was extremely old, I should have known when it was served and it was cold, I will be reporting the restaurant to the health department, do yourself a favor and steer clear of the place
google avatar

Yelp
Mom and Pop shop located in El Cajon main street. This place only been open for a month. They follow all covid precautions. Sitting inside and out but limited. They are opening a market inside the store (it will be good). The lamb was good not gamey and juicy. The beef shami is ground beef in a kabob. This was flavorful and not dry. The Currys was good to mix with the rice. Tiny salads came with the meal. But the game changer was the Naan. This bread was good. When waiting for the food people were coming in for take out and ordering huge portions of Naan (taking 9 to 10 breads) I wish I took a picture on the size if the bread and it smelled amazing. A must try and if your shy to explore....cone for the bread Support your local mom pop shops

Yaseer H.

Yelp
Best food I have ever ate in a while 10 stars if I could, clean nice atmosphere and high quality service and great and amazing tasting food

Claire J.

Yelp
Went here on a whim. We ordered the qabili palaw and the chicken tikka kabob. The service was excellent, and the food came out very quickly. The chicken tikka was good but the palaw stole the show; the rice was well cooked and had a good flavor, and the lamb shank was so extremely tender and delicious. It's not a fancy restaurant but it's one you can feel very comfortable in. Would go back in a heartbeat

Mo A.

Yelp
great customer service. food was good. very clean. I live in the bay area, so their prices here were not too bad especially considering the big portions and inflation. We had a big order on the phone, and they prepared it without asking for advance/online payment. If I visit San Diego again, I would eat here again.
google avatar

Wais M.

Yelp
Coming to an Afghan restaurant as someone who grew up eating exclusively Afghan food cooked by amazing Afghan women, I am usually cautious about going to an Afghan restaurant. But let me tell you, Kabul Kabob is damn good compared to any Afghan food I have had. First, their menu surprised me because of the wide variety of food that was available. Next, the taste was great. I did not finish my plate because I wanted to take leftovers so my mom could try it and she was very happy also. If you want a real and genuine experience of Afghan food and hospitality, this is the place to go.
google avatar

Amir Y.

Yelp
Man, low expectations but did we walk out happy! We came here for an Iftar in the later days of Ramadan. The food was sooo good. The venue is unassuming, inside and out. The service was uninspired but reasonable. The food was like eating at a family house. Flavors were solid, even the most basic of items. Our favorite items were the spinach, chicken kababs, fish and samosas - the only things not on our list are things we didn't try . Looking forward to coming here again to try their menu and for Iftar in 2024.

Vintage M.

Yelp
Another great restaurant too bad they don't have a location in the OC area because I really enjoyed their food. Very clean, friendly staff, and good food.
google avatar

Shaista H.

Yelp
ZERO STAR TO BEGIN WITH!!!! This place is a disgrace to authentic Afghan food. Who the hell gave you the right to even think about opening a place in the name of Kabul and serve shit for food!!! I'm disgusted at the fact that not only the entire family meal with most of your meats and side dishes have ZERO flavor but are either over cooked or under cooked and completely not for humans to put in their mouths. Please!!!! I'm begging you to close your doors and go get a job else where to make a living. THIS IS NOT FOR YOU SIR!
google avatar

Daanyaal K.

Yelp
Came here this past Monday evening on Labor Day and it was quite busy which was nice to see! We ordered Qabuli Pulao, Mantoo and Bolani which all came out within 15 mins time. The lamb shank in the Pulao was really good quality and not fatty compared to the Afghan spots that offer the same dish in SD. The Bolani was really authentic and the chutney really hit the spot. The Mantoo was fine, I was hoping it had lobia (beans) like other people had posted before. They also provided Chicken Korma which I believe came with one of the dishes which was really good and the Afghan bread was soft, fluffy and fresh.

Waleed W.

Yelp
The best food in el cajon and really good service Everyone must visit this an amazing restaurant and try this fo

James J.

Yelp
No Absolutely phenomenal experience! The flavors in each dish were authentic and rich, and the hospitality made us feel right at home. The kebabs were perfectly cooked, and the naan was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend this gem for anyone looking to enjoy genuine Afghan cuisine!"
google avatar

Hamid H.

Yelp
Food is ok not the best afghan food I had, people that work here are always in bad mood no customer service at all maybe when people walk in greet them with words like "Hello or how are you"maybe you have good food but customer service is very important.
google avatar

Royan K.

Yelp
Excellent quality, generous portions, and friendly service. Highly recommend for authentic, tasty food. Great for large dinners or family events.
google avatar

Melanie S.

Yelp
I come here so often for meetings that I should have given them a solid review long ago. The staff is always patient and friendly, and the food is delicious and fairly priced. Sometimes we just order bolani and drink tea, other times we have a table full of hunger boys ordering 1/2 the menu and grabbing sodas and energy drink out of their fridge. Either way the food is fresh, flavorful and we don't get tires of eating often.
google avatar

Katherine W.

Yelp
This new restaurant has original Afghan cuisine. Large orders. Easy to share. What was so touching was the sweet waiter we had. Just in America 5 months from Kabul. He loves being here! They were opening the larger dining area. All brand new and inviting. Food outstanding. Don't think there is alcohol served here. Worth the drive out to El Cajon for the food. An interesting people watching place too. I wish them such success. We'll be back!
google avatar

Mohammed N.

Yelp

Yelp
Amazing place. Had a great dinner here! Tried the mantu and Kabul pulav and kebab. Super friendly staff and tasty food. Will go back here...

Kathy V.

Yelp
So delicious! Had the chicken kabob plate and would definitely order it again. Generous portions too!
google avatar

Howie L.

Yelp
A not so hidden gem. The food transports you to another world. So many new flavors and nostalgic smells. Home cooking - no frills - delicious.

Wendy M.

Yelp
Kabul Kabob House has great food and service, I would definitely recommend it to friends.
google avatar

caleb c.

Yelp
The amazeballs of this place cannot be understated. Was sent here on recommendation via an Afghan friend. Had the Qabali lamb shank/rice dish and OMG SO GOOD. Comes with a side of chicken curry which is life changing good. Like I've never had a curry like this. Kinda tomatoey, kinda hearty, kinda chicken. Lamb shank is huge. Portion size is huge. Splittable between two. Only $15. Amazing first Afghan food visit. Will be back! Sooooo satisfying!!!

Asma J.

Yelp
Amazing food and service, the ambiance was nice as well. Reminded me of all the flavors of food at home

Hamed S.

Yelp
We ordered food and it arrived 2 hours later. They were missing some our order and we waited on that for another additional 20 mins. We mentioned that the food was late and the owner took the food back to the kitchen. Plus the bathroom was very dirty. DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Save your money and go somewhere better.
google avatar

Hank G.

Yelp
OMG! The best Afghani food I have had in San Diego!. Don't be fooled by the spartan strip mall look. This is fine dining quality. Got to come back and try more.
google avatar

Isra D.

Yelp
Literally amazed. I just had a wonderful meal of 2 lamb skewers, and 1 chicken skewer, with the most blissful rice, and 2 sides, for a super reasonable price. The food was flavorful and clean. This will definitely be my new go too! Thank you so much!
google avatar

Amynah N.

Yelp
The food is amazing here and the prices are reasonable. They are also very kind with great service and it's totally worth coming here

Yelp
The best restaurant in town.! The food was super delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Yummy food, good prices great service. I got the 2 beef kabob plate with a side of flat bread. It did not disappoint. I'll definitely be back.
