Kachis Tacos and Cantina 🇲🇽

The food here is amazing! We ordered the molcajete which was outstanding and could easily feed three people. The sauce was very flavorful and had a nice amount of kick. The guacamole was delicious and very fresh and so was the salsa. The atmosphere is cute and the waitstaff responsive and very kind and outgoing. They also observed Covid protocols and kept patrons very safe. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

I had to restrain myself from eating all the tacos on the menu - each so good and thoughtfully prepared. Margaritas were solid too. Native Californian who is often disappointed with Mexican food on this coast, but very satisfied with this place. Go and enjoy!

The food and drinks here are so good! Definitely looking forward to returning and trying more of their tacos and drinks. We tried their lengua and birria tacos, and their strawberry/passion fruit mojitos. Love, love, love!

service was slow, margaritas came in paper Dixie cups… and the “queso” was DISGUSTING. The queso was straight up string cheese with spinach and mushrooms in it…. Like what. I will not be returning. The manager was nice tho & they took the queso off our bill.

What a gem in Adams Morgan! We’re always on the quest for the best taco and these so far are it in DC. But even better are the drinks! Perfectly created, beautifully served, not too sweet, this will be our new go to for margaritas and Mexican food.

The fajitas were excellent and the location provides a casual dining experience with all the flavor of Adams Morgan without the hustle and bustle found around 18th and Columbia Road.

Really nice addition to the neighborhood! Food and flavors are great and the margaritas are perfect. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming.

Stopped in a Saturday evening. We were walking to check out some new eateries. This place is on the lower level and you could easily walk past it. We sat at the bar downstairs. The large Margaritas were made with love! So good! Shrimp Ceviche : HUGE! Could have been shared with 3 people

If you are looking for a quick bite to eat or pass the time with a few margs, then this place is worth checking out. It was raining fairly heavy last week, and a friend and I were walking around Adams Morgan. We noticed the half off Margs deal; and man they did not disappoint! From the moment we entered, the two bartenders greeted us with exuberance. The bar area is a little small and tight, but you immediately forget that once you chat it up with the bartenders. If you like spice, and I mean REALLY like it, ask them to make the Reg. Marg with Chile del Arbol puree, with a candied Jalapeno. It's worth it. You get a balance of the sweet, spicy, and lime! As the night went on, we got treated to new flavors such as Hibiscus. We even got the rest of the customers in and these flavors and it was an awesome time! Don't stop at the drinks, try their tacos! They were very accommodating as my friend and I were vegetarians. We've ordered a trio; one with hibiscus, Nopal (Cactus), and just vegetarian. Nothing was lacking on flavor. Def worth checking out!

Perfectly situated right on the side walk of Adams Morgan! I loved the outdoor seating and our waiter was super kind. We started with the drinks and I highly recommend the Passion Fruit Mojito. Also, we ordered the loaded nachos and those are really filling so be sure to share or eat as an entrée. We got 3 different tacos- birria, barbacoa, and lengua. All of them were extremely flavorful and the meat was very tender and juicy. I really loved the lengua and birria. The lengua's meat quality was superb and I havent had any that good anywhere in the DMV yet. The birria taco was on point and met all of my expectations. Be sure to order the consume on the side, if you are ordering the quesobirria entrée. It was only $3.50 for the side on consume. I was super sad they were out of the tres leches cake, we were ready!!!!

Solid spot to grab Mexican food in Adams Morgan. We grabbed a seat outside. Service was a little slow but fine! The margarita was okay - it had a ton of ice that melted quickly. I had the burrito which was a decent size but the sauce was spicy! Like really really spicy! The meal was over a solid B+ and the meal came with free chips & delicious salsa. The restaurant is not accessible as there are stairs to go inside and outside. There is a curb you must step for the patio seating too.

I wanted tacos on a Friday night and this place was surprisingly empty for a warm Friday night. I got seated immediately and service was overall fast. I ordered two steak tacos and a chicken taco and they were pretty great. Very simple but good flavors and only $12. I tried their spicy margarita and it was also quite delicious. Overall, no complaints and would try their other tacos again!

Kachi's is the best spot to get tacos and margaritas especially on taco Tuesday! I came through for my birthday happy hour and we were seated immediately with my tables next to each other! The queso birria tacos are the best and also the carne Asada was so moist! If you get the passionfruit mojito make sure you get a pitcher because you are gonna keep wanting more! Definitely one of the best spots in Adam's Morgan.

These photos are from 2 visits here. I love coming here for lunch, the outdoor seating is great in warm weather and it's not crowded. Server is always nice. The margs are not my favorite (very sweet) but the food is great. Quesa birria is delicious and queso fundido is amazing.

Couldn't wait to try this place ... And wow ... what a disappointment ! Portion size was for a child's appetite ! Happy hour Margarita was a size of a Dixie cup ! And they added their Own tip ? Never again !

Ordered a salad and not only was it very small but it definitely wasn't a taco salad or anything like that. The description also said cherry tomatoes, while these are just tomato slices. The salad consisted of only romaine, some onion, some radishes (very random for a taco place) and the tomato slices. I don't recall the description saying there was a dressing but it didn't come with some kind of ranch it was tossed in. The steak was actually good and the veggies were good/crisp, but for the size and simplicity of this salad i really don't think it was worth $16.50 plus tip. Skip the salads, try the tacos instead i guess

Okay service was extra slow. Three in the wait staff for 7 outside tables. Waited over 30 minutes for two tacos. Drinks took 10 minutes! Wow! Definitely not the place to go if you are pressed for time. I guess resturaunt policy is one bowl of chips and one basket of chips per customer! Margaritas were ok. But I cannot recommend this establishment at this time or In The foreseeable future. Please get your staff in the same sheet of music!

Food was really good. I ordered the octopus tostada and a side of chorizo queso. The queso is super thick because they use three different cheeses. Go gooey and yummy! I also ordered the peligrosa drink - super tasty. The manager also came out and made sure we were pleased. A lovely man with a warm personality. The food came quick too. Will definitely return.

A fairly new family business, think it opened during Covid late last year. My wife and I had an excellent experience, not just because of the very friendly hostess and server (even though we came in 30 min before closing) but also the wonderfully tasteful and ample food. Btw we also had a half pitcher of outstanding Margherita. Believe it was half price as a special but definitely worth the full price. I recommend the tacos -they have a 3 taco special- any really. Full of flavor. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. Highly recommended! Let's support local businesses!

Ok so I went to Kachis on a Saturday afternoon with nice weather. We were seated pretty quickly, and everyone was kind of spaced out outdoors. We ordered the half pitcher of margaritas, which imo weren't really all that great. As a matter of fact, taste-wise, none of the drinks were all that great. Not terribly strong either. The food was great though. The mole wings were seasoned well, and the camarones a la diabla (it was shrimp and rice with sides of tortillas and beans) were flavorful as well. The service could have been more attentive, but I won't dock them for it because the manager came and talked to us, so I assume the service is there as an establishment. The prices were pretty reasonable all things considered, though if I go again I'd pass on the drinks unless there was a special going on, which they seem to have regularly.

Margaritas are excellent and well-priced during happy hour at $6. Service was slow to start but improved throughout our meal. The nachos come with refried beans, queso, pico, and jalapeños. We added guac (for $3 dollars) and it was well worth it!

This cute DC spot is a vibe everyone! It's off of 18th Street and the location isn't even the best part about this place. They have an extensive menu full with tasty options to order. I ordered the birria tacos (not on the menu), rice & beans, a chicken quesadilla, steak tacos, and chicken tacos. Needless to say, they were all extremely delicious! The food came out promptly after the pitchers of margaritas I ordered, service was regular and all the people who work there are so hospitable and kind. Their alcoholic drinks are pretty looking, tasty, and pack a nice little punch. The atmosphere is very homey and culturally relevant. It's a great place to host small events or even parties. Im a young black woman and I had an amazing time dining there this past week (April 2021). Do yourself a favor and go enjoy their food!

Terrible customer service! Asked for a lid for my to go cup and was told they don't give out lids only to see other customers get lids for their cups. Speaks badly of me in Spanish not knowing I can understand them. Very rude. Had me waiting about 30 min for my taco order. They were very condescending and rude. First time there and never going back. All that for a Terrible meal too. Just not worth it in my opinion. I'm also guessing they're the kind that treat you good or bad depending on whether you tip them. I was waiting to tip after service because it's something I learned and started doing. It shows true character and customer service...because after all, that is what I'm tipping for, good customer service.

Stopped in on a Saturday evening (kinda late, around 10pm) and the host were outside but didn't look like host... then the host (super old guy, close to death if the sun was out too long) got an attitude and said "do you see these tables? Sit".. so my friend and I sat down after the not so warm welcoming and he (the host who is now the server I guess, slay) slams our water down and then is like what do you want... so I order a palomaso and he says "the 19 year old is drinking" mind you... I'm 23 and if it was a joke, that man's humor is dryer than the desert then proceeded to ask for my ID as he should but ask THREE different times and then says "you're still 19"... baby just save your coin and don't go here. The food is not good even if you were drunk and it's the last thing on earth and the service will make you want to bang your head in between two bricks.

What a new great gem in Adam's Morgan area. The food and drinks were unbelievable! Everything my group and I tried on the menu was very tasteful. We ordered pitchers for different alcoholic drinks, which is always a great option when dining with a group. The service was also great; our serve was super friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back again!

I decided to give Kachis a second chance one evening when I was feeling lazy but wanting tacos. Again I had to call to order, which I don't love, but ok. Whoever answered phone was not friendly and seemed annoyed that I was bothering them. Maybe that should have been my first sign to change my plans, but I didn't listen. I ordered, and was told it would be about 15 minutes. Great. After 15 minutes I walked over to the restaurant. They still don't have great signage to tell you where to go in, so again I tried to go in upstairs first. Door was locked. I walked in downstairs to find a bartender and a few servers standing around. They all kind of just looked at me until I finally mentioned I was there to pick up an order. Supes awkward. More awkward, nobody knew what I was talking about. I had to wait another 20 minutes for my food to be ready, which was pretty annoying. Once I finally got home with my food, the disappointments continued. The food was ok, but definitely not worth the cost or the calories. I really wanted this place to succeed, but I don't see how it could as is. I won't be back.

Queso birria tacos are on point! The margarita pitcher special is clutch. It's hard to find a good Mexican restaurant in Adams Morgan, but they definitely hold the crown! Go check em out!

Just came for happy hour with SKOMPY and was so happy we happened upon this gem. They have the NICEST staff and are so accommodating. 10/10 recommend !!

Lovely outdoor seating on 18th. Very friendly staff and excellent food. Truly from the region and authentic. Decent prices. Try the hibiscus drinks!

Been here 2 times now. The food was great, drinks were strong, good and prices are fair. I recommend the Quesobirria tacos.

One of the best Mexican restaurants in admo. Absolutely loved the birria tacos - something very hard to find in DC. Margs are great too!

I was very disappointed in the customer service and the lack of hospitality I received on April 27th 2021. My friend and I heard good things about this restaurant and decided to check it out. We wasn't greeted had to sit ourselves. We sat at a table for more than 30 mins I had to get out my seat and find someone to take our order. Then a older Hispanic gentleman took our order come to find out he didn't work their he was a friend of the manager and just was helping out. The lady who was working that evening helped and talked to each table but our table. I guess we were stereotyped because we were black. We were finally given complimentary chips and dip after a hour of sitting and that's only because I asked were they complimentary because we seen them at all the other table. It was horrible and I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE EVER AGAIN HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

So so delicious. We went for lunch on a Saturday and all the food was amazing - you can tell it's all made in house! I wish I'd caught our waiter's name (maybe the owner?) but he was so attentive and enthusiastic. Highly recommend the queso fundido!

This place is so amazing. Drinks are amazing, food is amazing. For drinks I recommend the la peligrosa it's so refreshing and light. For food I recommend the barbacoa tacos. The atmosphere was amazing, the staff was amazing. I really enjoyed my time here when I went.

The food is "good". Service is mediocre. Here is what is so bad. I went for dinner with a friend. We had a pitcher of margarita (mostly ice), and some guacamole. Then we ordered entres and another pitcher. After all we ordered a Tres Leches cake to share for desert (didn't taste homemade). The total bill was $149. A bit pricey for what we received but it was what the menu said. My friend placed his credit card down for the $149 bill. When he got it back the card had been run for $191. Between giving us the bill and running the card, they added food tax, liquor tax, and a $23 "service charge". The majority of restaurants and bars include the food and liquor tax in the price of the item. Even if they didn't they should have included it when they gave use the bill, not after they run our credit card. Management was just full of excuses. It never mentions taxes and service charge added or not included ANYWHERE. DO NOT GO HERE. They will rob you blind.

Great dine in experience. The forte of this restaurant is definitely its spectacular food and it's traditional Mexican feel. The wait time was very short and the service was great. Location is perfect to take a stroll after eating such traditional Mexican delicacies. Kachis is a restaurant for the lovers of the extravagant and of great tasting food.

Amazing establishment... Great customer service. The owners (adan... "kachi" are amazing they sat down converted with us along with their niece although this is a new family establishment me and my boyfriend had a great night. Good Music , food (Mole Fry chicken wings) and drinks!!! Definitely coming back especially for Cinco de Mayo!!!!

Food was alright but not worth the price. Only go if you're not a POC . Service was terrible. My friends and I decided to try Kachis for dinner and drinks. We were seated and not 5 minutes in the waiter spilled a tray full of waters on us, we understood it was an accident and had no issue but it didn't take away from the fact that it was an inconvenience. My friend talked to the "manager" and explained what happened and he immediately started telling her that accidents happen, gaslighted her, and never apologized instead he just switched out our server which we never had a problem with. It was a red flag but we decided to stay. Horrible mistake. We ordered our food and appetizers as well as drinks. At around 10:30 our waiter asked if we were fine and I proceeded to ask about an order of loaded fries that I had ordered but never received. He told me that he brought those out a while ago and we had already ate them. I asked around my table to see if they had eaten them and everyone said no that we never got them. I let the server know and he insisted that the fries were brought out and he had taken the dirty baskets. The baskets were from the complimentary chips and sauce that they offer and we let him know but continued to insist that we had already ate the fries. He left and came back and told us he was going to show us the video of him bringing out the fries, accused us of lying. We agreed to see the video and told him that if we in the videoing showed him bringing the fries we'll pay him for 3x the amount of fries. We waited for the video which we never saw he continued stalling. We left at 11:50, 10 minutes before they closed because he kept insisting he was going to show us the video. We never saw it. Never coming back here again. Majority of the staff is racist and so is management.
