Don't trust the 4 and 5-star reviews, they are by people who know nothing about Indian cuisine. But of course it's ok that they like it, whatever it is.
This may be some provincial take on standard Indian fare, if so it is not to our liking, after multiple tries and despite the curiously positive reviews.
As people who have had Indian food weekly for decades in different countries, we know a thing or two about that to expect. We truly do not get the 4- and 5-star ratings.
The Butter Chicken was literally like pasta sauce in looks and taste, no exaggeration, almost all tomato, no butter flavor, no spice, no spice flavor, and the cubed chicken was hard - it didn't taste anything like any Indian food we've ever had in the US, Asia, or India. Another reviewer mentioned something similar.
The Vindaloo was all potatoes, had gristly meat and very little of it, too sweet, and was not spicy at all - Vindaloo is among the most spicy of Indian curries, but theirs is so bland it was a chore to eat. Other dishes were ok but again too sweet and unremarkable and similar. In fact everything was too sweet and too tomato-y, and we actually like tomato-based curries. It could be that they are over-catering to the American palette, if so they are missing the mark.
Everything tasted the same, there was little-to-no variety in taste despite getting 4 different types of dishes.
Worth noting that on none of our visits were there any Indian customers, and some of the more negative reviews are from Indian people.
Seems each time we go the food gets worse. This time will be our last time. We wanted to like it as it is nearby. See our other reviews for some of our preferred alternatives, and stay tuned for more reviews of Indian other places we haven't had time to post a review of yet.
