A Diamond-Level Experience at KAE Sushi by Chef Landa
If I could give more than five stars, I would. We were visiting from Austin with time for one meal before our flight home. We picked KAE Sushi by Chef Landa in Coral Gables and it was the best decision of our Miami trip.
The fish was beyond fresh. We started with hamachi jalapeño appetizers and immediately ordered another round. The yellowtail was buttery with perfect heat from the jalapeño. The salmon tartare had incredible silky texture. Even the miso soup was exceptional.
We asked for Kirin Ichiban, our usual sushi beer, but they didn’t carry it. They recommended Belle Epoque 1900, a French beer, instead. We tried it and it was fantastic, pairing excellently with our food.
The Toro and Caviar Roll was phenomenally prepared with gold flakes and truffle oil. Every element balanced perfectly. The Miami Roll blew my mind with plantain on sushi. I’d never had it before and now I’m wishing for plantain on every roll. Chef Landa’s fusion of tropical sweetness with traditional sushi was genius.
My 10-year-old loves sushi and asked to sit at the counter to watch Chef Ibrahim work. Chef Ibrahim made special space for him and spent the entire meal teaching him about cuts and techniques. My son was over the moon watching the master at work.
Chef Ibrahim and his wife made us feel like family, but it wasn’t just them. The whole staff treated us like we belonged there. When my wife complimented our server’s perfume, the server brought over her personal bottle and shared a few spritzes with her. My wife was delighted. This genuine care for our experience that you rarely find anymore. This diamond-level service is what sets KAE apart.
We’re already planning our next Miami trip specifically to eat here again. To Chef Ibrahim, his wife, and the KAE team: thank you for making our Texas family’s last meal in Miami so special.
Go to KAE. You won’t regret it.
