Absolutely loved my experience at Kaenkrung! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was the highlight — full of flavors, beautifully presented, and serve with fresh local ingredients. Will definitely be coming back soon!

The pork rinds here are a thing of beauty. It was great in my Luang Prabang som tum, and I’m sure it was great in the tomato relish dip dish that every other table seemed to be ordering. The assam river prawns reminded me of a dish that my grandma used to cook. And the sirloin skewers, despite not being charred enough, still managed to be wonderfully moreish and flavourful. I think this restaurant has lots of potential. Didn’t order much as I wasn’t very hungry that day, but I’ll be back soon to try more of their menu. Their focus on sourcing, from breeds of local pork for the sausages, down to the different kinds of rice, is admirable and something I wish we’d see more of in the context of casual restaurants like this.

Loved the food here. As a newbie to Thai cuisine, this was a great introduction to Isaan food. The hosts were very kind, the interior was cosy and the flavours were so balanced! The confit duck was my favourite.

Amazing food, great atmosphere, service was excellent, and the owners were very attentive and welcoming. We were visiting from out of country and found this experience delightful for our travels.

Recommend to make a reservation before go. The food is great. Homemade drinks are amazing.

It’s not that the food isn’t good—it’s just ordinary. I had high expectations because the restaurant presents itself as a local Isaan spot, but the Isaan dishes were underwhelming. The flavors were mild and middle-of-the-road, nothing that truly stood out. I ordered à la carte while running errands nearby, so it was a convenient stop. But if you’re planning a trip just to eat here, you might end up disappointed. I’m not sure if it was just the dishes I ordered, but my overall dining experience didn’t live up to what I expected. Don’t expect too much, and you might enjoy it more than I did.
