★★★★★ KAENKRUNG (แก่นกรุง) – Outstanding authentic Isan in West Bangkok (Michelin Guide 2026 mention-worthy!) We came to KAENKRUNG (แก่นกรุง) in West Bangkok after seeing it mentioned in the Michelin Guide 2026, and it absolutely delivered. What I loved most is that they don’t “soften” the food into a generic Thai profile—this is proudly Isan, with all its punchy, honest, authentic character. If you’re used to the more rounded mainstream Thai flavors, this feels like a real step closer to the roots. A special mention for the fermented elements: the house fermented rice drinks (sake-like) were genuinely incredible and added a unique, deeply local layer to the experience. You can feel the craft and care behind everything. Service was warm and attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere is relaxed but special. We left thrilled and will 100% be back. Highly recommended!

I wish I can give them 7 stars. Just amazing. The owner knows food so well. She gives the best recommendations according to your preferences. I tried somtum and hao dong with rice waffle. Perfect combo for an empty stomach 😋 I came here as soon as I landed, and it was the best choice I’ve made this year. For dessert, please please try the bael cake with ice cream. It’s one of the best desserts I’ve tried in Thailand!!! I wish they sell the ice cream separately. I have to come back here every time I visit BKK. Please try their food and leave good reviews, so that it will be here forever. Thank you.

We came here based on some random review I saw on ig and we wanted to have some real local food with local taste. We were very impressed already by the atmosphere of the space once we walked in. We have ordered 2 appetizer, 1 soup, 1 salad, 1 main dish and 2 different types of ice cream. The food is really tasty and flavorful and we were totally impressed. We are really picky Thais that do have pretty sensitive taste buds and therefore we tend to be critical at times. However Kaen Krung really impressed us with every single dish and we surely will come back again with more friends too !!! **I must say that some of dish even reminds me of the taste at Coda, the Thai cuisine that got Michelin 1 star... Strongly recommend to try

The pork rinds here are a thing of beauty. It was great in my Luang Prabang som tum, and I’m sure it was great in the tomato relish dip dish that every other table seemed to be ordering. The assam river prawns reminded me of a dish that my grandma used to cook. And the sirloin skewers, despite not being charred enough, still managed to be wonderfully moreish and flavourful. I think this restaurant has lots of potential. Didn’t order much as I wasn’t very hungry that day, but I’ll be back soon to try more of their menu. Their focus on sourcing, from breeds of local pork for the sausages, down to the different kinds of rice, is admirable and something I wish we’d see more of in the context of casual restaurants like this.

Great place - beautiful decor and food for a very reasonable price. A map on the restaurant wall shows where much of the produce comes from and the tastes are amazing. We'll definitely repeat.

Loved the food here. As a newbie to Thai cuisine, this was a great introduction to Isaan food. The hosts were very kind, the interior was cosy and the flavours were so balanced! The confit duck was my favourite.
