During Seattle Restaurant Week we enjoyed the featured large Meat and Veggie Sampler. Tasty and ample portions. The staff was friendly and provided gluten free options.

My new favorite Ethiopian restaurant. Flavor wise. Interior design wise, not so much. Regardless I see myself making this place my goto for ethiopean. The Food was cooked to perfection. Perfection. The flavors are so defined and refined. My order was absolutely cooked with love and many precision. I've had good lentils in my life but I didn't know they could be made so well with a great balance of texture and distinct flavor. Each lentil dish was completely different and hard to stop eating with every bite. Their meat was cooked as perfect as I've ever had. So tender and juicy and even cut into nice sizes. The only thing missing was the egg I'm used to in the combos. I'm curious how theirs would have tasted. The prices are appropriate for the proportions. I can't wait to share this place with others.

Probably the best Ethiopian food I have ever had. The vegetarian sampler and doro wat we’re just out of this world. The injera bread was perfectly moist and spongy, and all the veg sampler items were fantastic! We also had the chai and an Ethiopian coffee, and they were both great and it was fun to have the coffee served in the traditional jebena! Food was served very quickly and was toasty-hot and fresh! Our server was also very kind and attentive. :) 10/10 would recommend and hope to come back!!

I ate dinner with 5 other people. It's a small place but they do have room to handle larger parties I thought the food was excellent as was the service. I've had Ethiopian food a good number of times.

I tried to find a cafe place to work while waiting for my son in a class at Columbia city. Unfortunately most of the cafe around there closed at 6pm. Luckily I finally found this place, nice and quiet and exotic place, i can quietly work their and drinking coffee. Smell the food there i ended up order a plate to take home. We all love it, pretty good price and nutritional balanced. I am glad i found this place!

We went last night for restaurant week having never tried this spot before and it was SO worth it. You can do a combo with or without meat, we went meatless and it comes with tea. It was more than enough food for two people and all of the offerings tasted so good and fresh. The injera was really tasty, it had a warm subtle spice to it which was a nice vessel for all of these to make it to your mouth. The service was really quick and friendly. The place was very clean and offered more of an eating at someone's home vibe, with regulars enjoying beverages and conversation. It was really good and I would go back!

That's it, this is my new favorite Ethiopian restaurant in Seattle. I ordered the Kaffa combo and the vegetarian combo over Uber eats and it is a ginormous pile of food. The portions here are so generous and such good value I would definitely order again and I wouldn't have to cook for days because of the amount of leftovers. The flavors of all the dishes are so spot on and flavorful, and the spicy dishes pack a good punch. They are very generous with the injera as well and my favorite thing is when all the juices seep into the injera and it becomes super flavorful and soggy. I'm also so impressed with how thoughtfully everything is packaged! Usually, when I get Ethiopian for takeout, all the food is already just packed onto the injera, but here, they take the time to individually package each dish, and injera separately as well as a little container for the cottage cheese as well. This was so much appreciated and even though it's a bit more out-of-the-way for me to get to, I definitely will be a repeat customer.

Went here with a friend the other day and enjoyed the food. It wasn't as spicy as I had before (I had the lamb tibs) but it was still delicious. The service was excellent. They were friendly and attentive. Parking was easy. This place will stay in my books of Ethiopian restaurants when I get that craving again.

We had a phenomenal visit and experience here! We ordered the vegan sampler, which was so delicious and had such an abundant variety. I also really loved my iced latte, it was next level. The service we experienced was warm, helpful, and attentive. I look forward to the next time I get to stop by!

This place now become my favorite Ethiopian restaurant after coming twice and getting delicious (and economical) food each time. I got a Groupon for the Vegetarian Combo Platter + coffee or tea ($16.99, which also), and ordered the Lamb Wot (a little spicy, super favorful, so good!) and Beef Shiro (beef cubes in lentil sauce). The meat dishes are large in quantity. We had leftover for at least another meal for 2 people. I will be back to try the other meat dishes, like the Kitfo (minched raw beef).

I've now gone here 4-5 times and enjoyed their food each time. While I've gone with groups and stuck to either the veggie combo or the meat/veggie combo plate, in the future I could see myself trying other items since these have tasted so good. If you haven't eaten Ethiopian food before, you might want to search online for "how to eat Ethiopian food" to get some tips on eating with injera. (Hint: no utensils involved.) Super easy and super fun at this place. Great food, good service, unpretentious location, fabulous prices. A family size combo plate will easily feed 4 (and possibly more depending on appetites). My group left the meal highly satisfied and quite full. So glad we live nearby and can visit again!

I've had a craving for Ethiopian food since I moved to Washington from DC, so of course, I went on TikTok to find some recommendations. I watched a video mentioning this place and I knew I had to try it. I tried the meal and veggie platter and it was delicious. So delicious that I went back a couple of days later with my parents to try the same thing, but a bigger platter. My dad who is so hard to please, and he loved it so much. Everything was full of flavor. Service was pretty spot on and the food is reasonably priced. I will definitely keep coming back.

Kaffa is one of the few coffee shops close to me that's open late. Great place to get some work done and enjoy coffee, cakes, snacks, and a delicious Ethiopian meal. I've never felt rushed here and usually stay at least 2-3 hours. Warm friendly service. Neighborhood gem. Had a slice of Pistachio ricotta cake - divine! Their mocha was lovely too. I've had their Ethiopian food and its great. Different from other coffee shops bc if you get hungrier there is filling food to get.

Nothing to complain about here. Went here with a friend and we both enjoyed our experience. No problems ordering. The place wasn't crowded or noisy. The food was excellent. Now I can't say I've had Ethiopian food before so take this with a grain of salt but I enjoyed everything I ate. The portions were large. I could have easily shared with another person. The bread was amazing. Check it if you're in the mood for something different.

I went here today with three angsty progressives who were wanting Ethiopian food but also from Tacoma so the southern location was more accessible to us! At first we weren't sure it was open and I think there is some cultural subtext/scheduling/meal timing we didn't understand but it all turned out great. The lovely cook clearly phoned a server who was very pleasant even though we suspect we interrupted her day... Thank you to the two lovely ladies who gave us this flavorful opportunity. We ordered shareable Vegan and Meat and Veggie Samplers and some lovely tea. Chai-like flavors with pre-warmed cups and a pitcher of frothy milk made the tea an experience as well. The platters came beautifully arranged on very large, round plates and several rolls of tasty injera. The Vegan plate included Misir Wot (spicy berbere lentils which was my favorite), Alicha Misir (garlic ginger lentils), Ater Kik (lemon yellow turmeric split peas), Gomen (stewed collards), Tikil Gomen (turmeric inflected cabbage, carrots and potatoes), some fantastic, spicy beets and a green bean dish. All were flavorful, a texture treat and pinching bites with the teff injera (like a very flexible, absorbent, buckwheat pancake) 'fed my soul' according to one of the angsty progressives who has fond memories of adventures in Africa. The meat and veggie platter has several of the same dishes plus chicken tibs (onion, tomato, garlic, jalapeño), Beef Wot (spicy, saucy, berbere stew), and another beef dish topped with crumbly cheese. Both included a nice romaine, tomato, onion salad with a peppery vinaigrette. We didn't get to try the Ful or Shiro, both of which are probably great. Or the Enqulal sils scrambled eggs... I'm pretty sure we'll be back...

I am SO GLAD I ordered dinner delivery via GrubHub from Kaffa Coffee. The veggie sampler arrived piping hot (I live about a mile away) and had plenty of injera with it. It was plenty enough food for two servings. The misir wot was by far my favorite item on the platter. The tikil gomen was also delicious and balanced the spice from the misir wot nicely. Proud to have this wonderful restaurant in my neighborhood. If a warm, delicious, plant-based rainbow sounds like something you would enjoy, get yourself over to Kaffa Coffee now!

I haven't yet been in person to Kaffa, but found them on DoorDash as I was trying out various Ethiopian restaurants one at a time when I had the craving for it. Kaffa's food is AMAZING. All the spices make for a great meal, and it is spicy - so delicious. I ordered the gomen and misir wot, two dishes I absolutely love. I decided to try something new, and went for the kitfo - something a little bit out of my comfort zone (I like steak tartare but haven't had it much). If you're a meat eater, you have to try it! It comes with this homemade cheese which is so good I could eat it straight. I'm not sure if they generally package the injera separately from the entrée dishes, but I asked them to in the notes since I always end up w/ leftovers and other places put the food directly on the injera in the takeout containers (the traditional way of eating the food). Everything came very well-packaged. I found my favorite Ethiopian restaurant and can't wait to go in person to eat there when things are back to normal. Highly recommend ... and about to order some more when they open today (this was from two weeks ago).

My go-to Ethiopian food in Seattle. Most recently, had a big miscommunication with the woman answering the phones, though. Ended up with 2x as much food as intended. I've found it's easier to communicate with her in Spanish rather than English.

The food was incredible! The service impeccable! You can tel that this is hand crafted food by caring hands. I never expected it to be this good but it was so delicious. Highly recommend! Also very affordable and there's zero price gouging! 16$ for this giant plate of deliciousness and variety heck yeah!

Some of the best Ethiopian food that I have ever had. Very flavorful and spicy! Avoid if you can't handle a little heat. We order the veggie platter and foul. Generous servings and made fresh. Sooooo good.

I went in there for lunch, ordered the combo. It came with 6 dishes (4 veg, 2 non-veg) and some salad on top of Injir (thin spongy bread) and a side serving of same bread. It was more than enough for 2 people. Food tasted very much like Indian, not too spicy but flavourful, their bread is like a thicker Dosa. Everything tasted really good for my Indian tastebuds. Kind of reminded me of home food (weird, right!) Reason to ding a star: 1. couple of dishes were little too oily and oil actually dripped through the bread to bottom of plate. 2. Even thought the plate looks beautiful with the setup but the bread gets soggy by the end, so it might be better of they serve separately.

Delicious food, large portions, and reasonably priced, and the owner was incredibly friendly and helpful. I got the Kaffa Combo, which came with a nice mix of vegetarian and meat options on the platter, which is easily large enough to share with someone else. The flavors were incredible, with a nice bit of spice that wasn't overpowering.

I know the owners so my review could be biased... but if they didn't deserve 5 stars for great food I'd have "forgotten to leave one." Hah! Both the latte and the food were top notch and reasonably priced. Left full and happy! Will visit again next time we're in the Seattle area. :)

Well, that was a nice surprise! Realized that there were quite a few restaurants now offering delivery to our area, that weren't available before. Must be Covid related. Saw this place on UBer Eats, and checked out the yelp reviews before ordering. We did the large vegetarian sampler, and it was enough for 2 people. Very tasty, healthy and plenty of variation. We will definitely order again.

The best Ethiopian I've had in south Seattle. The combos are plentiful, flavorful and delicious and the service is top notch. Fast delivery!! Thank you for the wonderful food you serve this neighborhood.

We ordered the Vegetarian plate and a Lamb dish for our dinner last night. We were very impressed with the portion size and there was lots of injera. The food however, was undercooked. The yellow peas definitely needed more cooking, and if the lamb had cooked just a little longer, it would have been tender, not tough. I think they are used to people eating later than 5pm was all I could figure. It was delivered promptly and I was delighted to find that one of the veggies included were beets. I'm going to put the leftovers in the slowcooker this morning so it's ready for lunch.

My absolute favorite restaurant in Seattle. Been ordering from here every week since we've been social distancing. Such incredible flavor & amazing variety. We order both the vegetarian combo & the meat tibbs, so we can mix it up. I no longer miss Indian food as the moderate levels of spice in the food here are more up my alley. The injera makes my day! The portions are excellent value for money.

Delicious! We have ordered delivery from here multiple times and it always has perfect flavor. It is just always very oily. I think it is only because it is in the boxes. I'm sure eating in the restaurant is better. But that is my only complaint because it really is delicious. Every single thing has such amazing flavor. Mmmmmmmm. Highly recommend!

This place is great! They have delicious coffee as well as Ethiopian/Eritrean dishes and of course wine and some spices and other food items to purchase as well. The staff was very kind and hospitable. Nice place to sit inside or outside.

Please don't spend your money on "Beef Tibs". It was the worst meal I had in a last year. I wanted to like this place so bad as I was very hungry after the work out. I ordered beef tibs via uberEats that arrived cold. First disappointment was when I saw plastic foam container that is just bad bad for the environment. When I opened it the thing did look tasty at all. My first beef bite was a big big mistake. It was so spicy, it maimed me cry for five minutes and nothing helped. The beef was very BAD. This shitty dinner had soggy vegetables and chewy meat and gloopy, saccharine sauce. They might have used the wrong cut for the stew.. as it came out very dry and felt like I was chewing rubber. I didn't even swollen it. The side salad was very salted and had just lettuce and onion.

Ordered takeout "Veggie Combo" and "Chicken tibs." I give 2 stars to the chicken, maybe 3 to the veggies. I love spice and dimensional flavors, which is why Ethiopian food is my favorite. I've eaten at lots of Ethiopian places in Seattle, and by comparison, I was just a little disappointed with the lack of spice in the food here tonight. There was nothing wrong with the veggie dish other than it being on the unseasoned side. The chicken tibs, however, tasted remarkably bland and dry, and didn't have any heat or tangy-ness like I'm used to. I would try again but maybe a different dish and hope for more excitement! I do appreciate you being open for takeout tonight and feeding me! Thank you thank you!

I'm going to be honest, I was really skeptical about this place at first. It's located in not the best corner of town, and also - coffee, wine, AND Ethiopian food? You can't be good at all these things. Plus, walking into this cafe was like walking into a sketchy bar filled with regulars, if these regulars were only all old Ethiopian men. As two girls who know nothing about Ethiopia, right when we entered into the place, groups of men all looked up, confused as to who invaded their territory. Lucky for us, the owner was INCREDIBLY nice, and showed us to a table immediately. We were out of place for sure, but quickly felt right at home. We came here after purchasing a Groupon - $9 for $15 worth of food. We spent this on the Kaffa Combo plate, which is their take on the traditional Ethiopian slaw of different dhals and vegetables on top of Injera bread. This was priced at $15.99, so using the Groupon for 2 people was an insanely good deal. This definitely serves 2-3 people. My friend and I were struggling to finish this at the end. Everything was so flavorful and uniquely spiced, the injera bread was spongy and soft. I honestly did not know what I was eating, but everything I dug my bread into was delicious. If the food didn't win you over, the service really will. Although getting my food took a while, especially since no one else was eating and the place was pretty empty on a Saturday night, the owner was so nice. He kept asking if everything was fine, and then offered to bring more bread or any of the dhals if we wanted more. What restaurant offers to bring more of their food that you like after you finished eating, free of charge??? This place is truly a hidden gem in Seattle, and considering how slow business was on Saturday night and the "customers" (more like people just hanging around) that were there, this place definitely deserves some praise. Mind you, this review is only for their Ethiopian food - I didn't try their coffee or wine. I did take a slice of their tiramisu to go, which was great, but it is not made in house. I will definitely be back soon and telling everyone I know to support this great, local business.

Healthy, fast, inexpensive, and great for vegetarians. This place is steps away from our house so we eat here a lot when we can't cook. We always get the veggie combo which includes yellow split peas, collard greens, potatoes and carrots, red lentils, beets, other varieties of lentils, and sometimes salad. They give you a lot of injera (the sourdough flatbread you use to scoop everything up). It's very filling and perfect for 2 adults. If we're really hungry I get an extra order of the yellow split peas (yekik alicha) -- they are so smoky and delicious. Real comfort food, and cheap.

Love this place, their samplers are amazing, though just about everything is good. We have had a couple order snafus with their online system, they always double timed it to get my order ready and gave me free tea while I waited. Probably better to just call. Still, love the place!

Recently I ordered from this restaurant via Doordash. This was my first order which I'd placed after reading the reviews. As described the food arrived very well packaged. The portion was very generous and it took me 3 servings to completely finish the meal. This was my second time tasting Ethiopian cuisine, being Kenyan myself I found similarities in the staples and rich taste which brought nostalgia. The Kaffa combo is a great way to sample the various staples including the misir wot (lentil), ater kik (split pee stew) gomen (collard greens), tikil gomen (cabbage), chicken tibs (stir fry/stew) and beef wot (stew) with Injera (flat bread). The beef wot can be quite spicy however very flavorful! I would highly recommend this restaurant and specifically the Kaffa combo!

Visited a friends coffee bar with my 2 year old. Very inviting and comfortable; great ambiance. Rich drinks and deserts. Plan to return this weekend with the family to experience traditional ethiopian meal and coffee with my friend/owner and his wonderful wife. A definite must try! For anyone interested in experiencing different cultures.

Spent literally 4 hours here today just sitting in this comfy chair by the window working. The owner is kind and gracious and friendly. The service is quick and food delicious! I had the Ful with soft yummy bread & also the Ethiopian tea with cardamom and cloves. It's such a great place to get work done and relax, or also grab food with friends. Support local businesses!

My favorite delivery spot during Covid. I'm a meat lover veggie combo is next level (and can even be made vegan) and can feed two hungry people at an incredibly reasonable price! The Misir Wat has the perfect smoky spice

BLACK OWNED, delicious, and cozy! My partner and I came here because he's never had East African food. He loved it. I loved it as always. We ordered 3 different types of meat: Goat, Chicken, and Beef. This came with some yummy vegetables, and injera! It was delicious. The meat was SEASONED!! Marinated, and juicy! Also, if you like a little spice. Ask for the spice powder. They'll know what you're talking about. Its yummy!

Cute little place with wonderful service and great food. The service is really want impresses me. I took out my computer and without asking they brought me the WiFi information. They check in (without being annoying) to make sure everything is okay with the food and you don't need anything else. The patrons that stop by are also really friendly and welcoming. The inside is really nice, clean, seems new. I ordered the foul for breakfast. It was huge, and they brought both injera and french bread for me to try with it. The injera actually turned out to be the better option. The coffee is really good - smooth and flavorful. I thought the price was really good too. A very big meal for $10 This is a nice place to sit and hang out with a friend or to get a little work done. If I am in this area again I will definitely come back.

Delicious spot! No frills but still cute and different in its own way. There's coals burning so asthma folx be careful! Food was great, noticed a lot of reviews complained about the food for it being true Ethiopian food, please do not insult an entire cultures food because you personally can't handle something spicier than black peppercorn. Service was great and atmosphere was relaxing, would return here again.

We needed a quick delicious lunch, and this was perfect! Lovely staff, great food. On a rainy day this is great comfort food. The combo is a great mix of flavors (it's your own personal buffet). Some places might skimp on the food, and just fill you up on injera, but kaffa is generous with their portions...and there was enough injera left to eat for breakfast the next morning. My fingers are stained pink, and I can't wait to get back.

I have been ordering food from this restaurant and it was good at first but know it's becoming worse their food is too much spice and oil. I couldn't it it because of the oil at the bottom.
