Where to eat and drink in Grand Rapids | Eater Detroit

"I found a Korean-owned cafe that pairs a wide selection of lattes, matcha teas, and espresso beverages with an impressive food menu — the bulgogi is a local favorite: thinly sliced marinated beef in a soy, onion, and ginger sauce topped with a fried egg, which I tried as a rice bowl, inside a burrito, and atop toasted Italian bread." - Serena Maria Daniels

My husband and I had dinner here and loved the food! We ordered the beef bulgogi ramen, chicken bulgogi burrito and the bbq dumplings. Everything was delicious. I really appreciated the little salad served with the dumplings. And we also had their seasonal blueberry crumble Chai and that was yummy, too. I highly recommend visiting. There was no street parking available when we arrived but we found a parking garage close by that was easy to use.

I rarely write reviews, but this gem deserves recognition for its friendly attentive staff, lightening fast service and high quality ingredients. I’m lucky to have stumbled across Kaffeine while visiting from Ann Arbor. The avocado toast was generously portioned, with red pepper flakes adding something new to the brunch staple on freshly baked bread, featuring a perfect crunch along the crust. The food was presented nicely even in a to go box. Kaffeine has a low-key vibe with great natural light and parking in front, a few feet from the door. The decor has a clean modern feel with concrete floors, open floor plan and patterned tile along the bar and half wall separating the kitchen area, while sharing it’s delicious smells. I removed a star for food because the taro bubble tea was lack luster and disappointing, and while I loved my spicy brunch, the avocado toast felt a bit too spicy for most. If you’re local and haven’t been to Kaffeine yet, you’ve been missing out. I anticipate visiting every time I’m in the area. - For any fellow Ann Arbor-ites, the quality of the avocado toast and staff were on par with Zingerman’s deli in Kerry town. Kaffeine shares the same high standards and quality service that is so rare today. Thank you Kaffeine! I look forward to returning soon.

It's a cute place to meet up for brunch. The drinks are tasty. I got the fruit tea without boba since they only had piping pearls or jelly and it wasn't sweetened but it wasn't bad. My husband got the hot ginger latte or something and it was very yummy. We ordered the army stew (5/10) and the beef bibimbap (7/10). It wasn't bad but it wasn't great and wasn't worth the price tag. I think the bibimbap was worth the price more than the army stew, but I wouldn't go again for the food. I would definitely stop by for another latte or coffee. It had a chill atmosphere with people coming in and out. I liked the vibes. It was clean, and the one worker was working really hard which is commendable. I can see the 2 chefs working constantly since they have a nice open kitchen concept.

Just had the most amazing ramen experience! The broth was incredibly tasty, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Every ingredient tasted super fresh, and the overall flavor was just outstanding. Plus, the indoor seating was really comfortable and added to the whole enjoyable vibe. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're a ramen lover!

I used to live near Kaffeine when it first opened and would get it all the time. I loved it! After moving away, I just came back this week and I’m so happy that it is as good as I remembered! Their spicy veggie ramen is absolutely perfect! It’s so flavorful, comforting, and packed with that same heat that I loved years ago. It’s rare to find a place that stays consistently great over time, but Kaffeine has definitely done it. (Forgot to take a pic before I started eating but here it is. So good!)

Kaffeine is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is so fun and vibrant, with great decor that adds to the experience. The staff was incredibly nice, making the visit even better. While it did take a bit for the food to come out, it was well worth the wait. The food was absolutely amazing—so flavorful and perfectly cooked. It was provided to me during a meeting a few weeks ago, and it stayed on my mind ever since! Let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint the second time around! If you’re craving incredible Korean food, this is the spot to check out. Highly recommend! Note, parking is located behind the building. Use the back entrance, go up the stairs, and it’s the door to the left. The door wasn’t clearly marked, so I wasn’t sure whether or not I was in the right place.

I visited Kaffeine Cafe twice. Since it’s owned by Koreans, I highly recommend their Korean dishes—they were really good! The coffee and drinks were decent. I love the location, but parking can be a bit tricky to find. Overall, it was a good experience!

My fiancee and I just had our first visit to this place, and it was phenomenal! Food was 10/10, atmosphere was quiet and cozy and comfortable, and the service was prompt and friendly. We both got coffee beverages as well as food, and presentation and taste were both incredible! They were also able to cater to my partners gluten allergy, which is a huge plus for us! Only slight downside is that it is rather pricy, but I am happy to support a small local business when I can afford to!
