"Gone are the days when Vancouverites needed to drive across the Columbia for a cup of coffee a cut above the national chain brews. Seidy and Matthew Selivanow’s award winning bean offerings include Esther Short, a blend of beans from Latin American women farmers participating in the Café Femenino ethical sourcing program. Baristas brew those beans using a variety of different tools and contraptions, including V60 and Chemex pour over cones, syphons, and espresso. The smaller Coffee Lab on Esther Street offers jaffles (hot Australian pressed sandwiches) and pastries, while the Gastro Café on the scenic waterfront has a more expensive food menu of grain bowls, toasts, and flatbread pizzas. Both locations offer beer, wine, and cocktails." - Katrina Yentch, Nathan Williams

Google
This is a really nice place in Vancouver near the water. Staff is friendly and there's lots of seating. I ordered the breakfast burrito which you can customize and it was a good size and taste.

Google
Kafiex is my go-to coffee spot! Can I give 10 stars? 😂 They offer a fantastic selection for pour-overs and their cortados are top-notch. Plus, kudos for having juices on hand for the kiddos - really appreciate the extra thought!

Google
We were in Portland for a golf show and by happen stance found this sweet lil cafe. From the moment we stepped in the pastry windows drew me in and the kind greeting from the staff made us feel right at home. If you can, snag a seat at the sunshiny bar facing the river. It’s the perfect way to start the morning. The little bit of love with the coffee on way of a heart butter biscuit is the best. Ps. Their breakfast croissant is delish.

Google
Welcoming staff, delightful lattes, and delicious breakfast menu. Started our day here every morning during our Portland visit. The ten minute drive is was worth it. Great atmosphere with love river view.

I wanted to love this place, but I was pretty underwhelmed. I could have just ordered the wrong drink though. I got the iced strawberry matcha, and for $10.62 after tip and tax for a 12oz iced drink, I would have expected something good, if not exceptional. This drink was just okay, bordering on kind of bad. Maybe their coffee is much better (I am hopeful enough to come back and try a coffee drink), but I would not order matcha here again. It wasn’t vibrant - the matcha was more of a dull green color rather than the bright green I expect from a high quality, ceremonial grade matcha. The strawberry part of the drink was tasty but had to be mixed with a straw since it was dense (more like a jam?). Outside of the drink, the vibes and staff were wonderful!

Google
I have never seen such a beautifully crafted mocha before. Not only did it look wonderful, but it also tasted great, not too sweet or too bitter, nice flavor. It was quite busy this morning but we were able to find a nice spot to share this little treat. Bonus points on the location too, right near the waterfront.

Google
I recently discovered Kafiex Coffee in Vancouver, Washington, and it’s nice. Tucked away in a scenic spot, this charming coffee shop exudes a modern aesthetic that immediately caught my attention. The interior design is sleek and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and unwind. The real star of the show, however, is their exceptional coffee menu. I opted for the Gingerbread Iced Latte with rich, velvety espresso and infused with warm gingerbread spices. The flavors were perfectly balanced and delicious. Kafiex has a thoughtful selection of fresh pastries. Their display case is always stocked with an assortment of sweet and savory treats, carefully curated to complement their coffee offerings. While Kafiex doesn't offer in-house Wi-Fi, they provide a convenient solution by offering a nearby free public Wi-Fi connection. This thoughtful touch allows patrons to stay connected without compromising the cozy atmosphere. Recommendation: Try the Gingerbread Iced Latte and pair it with a fresh pastry for an unforgettable experience.

Google
What a fantastic place to grab a cup of coffee and a sweet treat. The food looks amazing! I had a vanilla latte. It was deep and rich in flavor. Next time you are at the waterfront stop in. Zach was phenomenal with great service and friendly. We will be coming back!

Whitney L.

Yelp
Such a cute place near the river! Great place to study or get work done!! I got the breakfast burrito and an Americano with vanilla and cinnamon! So good!

Risse P.

Yelp
I absolutely love coming here! Service is always fast and friendly, there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available, and all of their food and drinks have been delicious. I always go between their strawberry matcha and their cajeta latte. If you like caramel, try the alfajores- you can't go wrong. The cherry on top is the view of the waterfront.

Beth E.

Yelp
This spot has become our little Sunday morning treat spot. The drinks and food are excellent and the space is really beautiful. We love sitting by the big windows that overlook the water. After getting brunch we head over to the Sunday market for a stroll. There is parking in the big public parking lots really close by. The prices are higher that your average spot but fit the whole experience and prime location. Staff are friendly and helpful. I really love all their seasonal specials, especially the iced strawberry matcha! And the chipotle aioli on the burrito is to die for.

Emily H.

Yelp
Great customer service and very friendly staff the homemade pastries are all delicious and there is a great selection of breakfast menu options! I only wish the coffee came a little hotter when you get it....lukewarm lattes go cold fast :( Lots of indoor and outdoor seating and nice ambiance!

Michael W.

Yelp
This was really really good! I didn't listen to the reviews cause all the negative ones sounds like whiners.... They were. Food was amazing, staff was nice and coffee was legit!!

Jenna W.

Yelp
This review is based only on coming in to drink some coffee and read for a while. Yes it's bougie, but the staff was very friendly and helped me choose the cajeta latte, which is a Mexican Caramel Latte that's mildly sweet and still lets the espresso shine through. Sure it was $7 but this isn't something I'm going to stop in for every day. I can taste the quality and the care that went into making this drink.

Ola Z.

Yelp
Ordered ultimate breakfast sandwiches it came out with black avocado. We asked to remake it with fresh avocado but response by manager was that this is normal avocado . Rude . $15 for black avocado sandwich.

Jay M.

Yelp
Roasting beans in house so you know they're fresh. All those other places you really don't know how long ago they were roasted or if they were purchased in 1 ton barrels and you're getting the bottom of it. The flavor the aroma was on point.. coffee that was handcrafted with Care. The staff were very nice and very knowledgeable.. had my coffee from a siphon for the first time and was definitely a game changer. Went early, so it was not overly crowded.. had a few pastries that were very good. Wish I wasn't on a diet so I could've had some more.. next time I'm up in the area I will definitely go back.

Mary V.

Yelp
Come for the atmosphere not for the drinks. The ambiance of this place is quite beautiful and a good place to pop by to enjoy the view. I ordered a vanilla latte and it was horrible. I don't know if the beans used blonde roast but it was so sour and acidic. The price of the coffee was outrageous too but I suppose that's the price of a beautiful presentation.

Mac M.

Yelp
Clean space, great coffee. A good place to have a meeting or just hang out with friends.

Thomas M.

Yelp
I used to love getting coffee here while visiting the farmers market, I enjoyed the excellent quality drinks with a slightly pricey but worthwhile premium. After my experience today however, I will not be returning. The manager is not accommodating or pleasant and enforces policies that are simply extraordinarily greedy. We ordered two teas, and one cold brew, and a cup of ice water, totaling nearly 18 dollars, which is egregious enough, but the cherry on top was the manager refusing to provide a cup of ice water for my 2 year old daughter on a warm summer day. She said "I can give you ice, but I have to charge you for the cup, 2 dollars". She then offered to sell a bottle of Arrowhead water for 2 dollars as well, which is what we ended up purchasing. When the drinks were ready, the quality was about the level of a rushed mass produced drinks, but with tiny portions and maxed with ice. I don't know who the management thinks they are, but without some major changes they won't be seeing a dime from me or my family again.

Yelp
We stayed at a nearby hotel and wanted to try something new in the area. We noticed the "average" ratings posted online-because the photos of the food and menu looked good so we thought "sure, why not?" For $56, we got a dry and flavorless slice of zucchini bread, an-ok croissant, two avocado toasts with prosciutto and two coffee drinks. The bread on the toast was good and overall, up to par. We weren't huge fans of the drinks...but it might be because we don't have a sophisticated coffee pallet. The mexican chocolate mocha latte was really really bitter, and it felt like there was a spoonful of dirt in the drink and the matcha green latte kinda felt the same. With a bit of sweetener added, that helped make things better. Nice and clean inside and service was average.

Amanda F.

Yelp
Walking around the water front this was a cute coffee shop. Unfortunately there was no customer service at all. I wasn't acknowledged for several minutes despite there being a large team working and no other customers. Really ruins an experience, and the drinks were just okay.

Brian T.

Yelp
Ordered this beautiful matcha drink recommended by the barista. Tasted terrible. Luke warm. They won't allow you to exchange for another drink. Barely took a sip and it's terrible.

Jenny X.

Yelp
Came here with a friend when I got into Portland! Good: - breakfast sandwich with croissant was amazing! I hung on every bite and it was so flakey and good. Fast service too! Bad: - Chai latte kind of tasted strange - perhaps it's the Oregon chai taste but I wasn't a huge fan and it had a bit of a bitter taste. Overall a pretty nice place to get breakfast and saw a fair amount of people working. Cute vibe and ambiance inside but wouldn't come again for the coffee. Breakfast is solid.

Eduardo J.

Yelp
Please read the reviews and the negative reviews are correct. Made the mistake to ignore the negative reviews and pay the price of $17 for this sad bowl. No flavor on eggs, undercooked potatoes, I pay full price for half of the ingredients, they didnt have microgreens and it was just pretty sad. How can you justify to charge this much for this bowl - absolutely horrible! You can come and you will regret it. $25 bill for breakfast and coffee, no flavor. Management take your reviews more serious or close down the shop. Oh and there is no wifi! Bad bad morning for me things to this awful so call coffee lab

Joan F.

Yelp
Quick stop for two iced lattes--we liked the friendly service and beautiful interior. The pastry case looked tempting. I wish we could have lingered on the sunny patio, but this was a rare day off, and we had tasks to complete in other parts of the 'Couv, which is becoming a go- to city for me. Now I know where to come for coffee when I'm in the area.

Carmin J.

Yelp
My favorite coffee shop is Kafiex Roasters! Their iced lattes are so delicious. I drink decaf so I love that they do the Swiss Water decaf process that is chemical free. It's the only place I can get a good cup of decaf coffee and not have a huge headache afterwards!

Patricia C.

Yelp
This is only place that I've found that serves a Blue matcha and it's become my favorite drink. Service is not great and prices are a little high but I like the drink.

Rachel D.

Yelp
Great space and location, not so great drinks. I was hoping the other reviews were just being a little harsh, but they were pretty accurate. We got the Blue Matcha (very aesthetically pleasing, not so palate pleasing) and the cajeta latte (goat milk caramel latte). Neither tasted like much. The blue matcha, presumably blue because of spirulina powder, had just the slightest hint of matcha flavor. The cajeta just tasted like a plain latte with a tiny but of sweetness. Pretty disappointing. I can't speak for the food, but the pastries don't look stunning. It is nice that you can get some real food but it's a bit pricy. The interior is great though. Very spacious and well designed with lots of seating, and many windows seats with charging stations underneath the table. So it's a pretty great place to study/work - except that they don't actually have their own wifi. You just log into a nearby public (?) wifi. Also, most of the staff was maskless despite the fact that the mask mandate had not ended.

Nikki S.

Yelp
expensive & very smallll drinks. this is an espresso martini & an iced chai tea which was almost $30. also questioning if there was any alcohol at all in the martini

Wendy F.

Yelp
Trendy new place I suppose. Avocado toast, omelette and mimosas were fantastic but in just ordering a couple items the bill was easy over $100 yikes I felt robbed after feeding myself here. Sadly overpriced.

Rashi T.

Yelp
Full points for location and aesthetics . Very spacious and minimalistic décor and to add to the beauty they also have patio seats overlooking the water. The coffee shop has plenty of seating and is well-lit and seems to be a popular spot for people to work . I haven't had real food here but I have visited with friends during brunch and the portion sizes seemed pretty small . I have had coffee and a few bakery items more than once and up till now everything has tasted good. The coffee is mediocre, but its caffeine and I accept it in its any and many forms.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Food and ambiance - 5 stars. I like the food options and what we all ordered was very good. The space is gorgeous. The prices are bad but you gotta help pay that Waterfront rent. Drinks - 3 stars. They were fine. Customer Service - 0 stars. Worst I've experienced in Vancouver. So bad that we were all uncomfortable with how rude one woman was. So... that's that. I'll make my avocado toast and overnight oats at home.

Dina V.

Yelp
The iced vanilla latte is my favorite. Perfect amount of sweetness and my go to at this coffee shop. I rarely leave reviews but wanted to recommend the shop in case anyone was looking for good coffee:)

Sophia Y.

Yelp
Coffee was good, but they overcharge for everything. 1 shot of coffee instead of 2? That's an extra few dollars. You want a little extra sugar? That's an extra few dollars. The staff was irritated and short with us. I could get 2 meals at McDonald's and a coffee for this insane price. I shouldn't be paying over $10 for a small sized coffee. My mom could make me this at home for free.

Joey H.

Yelp
I enjoyed a vanilla latte and an alfajores pastry. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was excellent.

Naomi B.

Yelp
I was unlikely enough to be there when the owner was there. She spent the entire time belittling staff, being rude to customers and complaining how the government is out to get her. When she completely messed up my order, she blamed a staff member who was on break than proceeded to insult the person who taking a break. It's 2023. It's inexcusable for a business owner to harass staff for taking a legally required break.

Linda S.

Yelp
Great roaster great coffee excellent beans Been to both locations and they are bomb Try it out very good vibes

Vika S.

Yelp
Coffee is good but if you want to grab a bite don't waste your money. The chips/artichoke dip is a complete scam. First off there's only like 9 chips, and it's literally burnt/old, almost chewy. The artichoke dip is just regular something you can buy at Fred Meyers for no more than $3, even though they charge $15 for it. Go to Dosalas or Stack instead, they serve quality food that's worth the money, leaving you satisfied.

Tyler H.

Yelp
This place survives because it's the only coffee place on the promenade. Service is unfriendly and always SLOOOW, coffee is mediocre, and it's usually not very clean. The straws are fall-apart-in-your-beverage paper also, extremely over priced

Kin N.

Yelp
My lukewarm coffee tasted sour and the muffin rock hard. It is a shame with such a nice location on the water front.

Courtney C.

Yelp
The service was great and our drinks were delicious! And the view of the waterfront was nice. I keep seeing all the very negative reviews but we really enjoyed our experience and drinks. The blue matcha was delicious!

Rocky B.

Yelp
3 out of 3 times I've been here the service has put a big dent in the experience. Staff really need to focus on making and delivering drinks correctly and promptly BEFORE finishing their social conversations. Twice I've placed a drink order for in house, was given a number, and told they'd be brought out. The first time the drinks never showed- turned out they'd made them to-go and they sat on the counter until after our food arrived. Drinks weren't remade, just the now lukewarm cups brought over. Next time, the drink was never made at all. On another occasion, I ordered a straight espresso and watched it getting made: Staff chatter, staff chatter, shot pulled, another minute and a half of chatter, then drink delivered just before the crema broke. Good coffee, beautiful place, really want this place to succeed, but staff need to focus on why they're there more.

Brittni Z.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place because I do like thier coffee, but I will never go back. 60$ for two very boring and tiny breakfasts and lattes. Our " fall" lattes tasted like normal ass lattes, the chilaquiles was literally just chips, no egg, no micro greens on top as stated, wet chips w avo for 17$. I was baffled about that. The scramble with " crispy potatoes" tasted ok but the potatoes were barely cooked all the way let alone crispy and it was enough food for my 2 year old, for 17$ again. BOOOOO. Yes I know you're on the waterfront but if you're going to charge this much, it should be at least delicious. Also, counter workers, pretty rude.

Jason B.

Yelp
Great service and wonderful coffee!!! Loved the recommendation I received for my pour over. My kids got some fun coffee drinks as well and loved them. Also a fun environment. It was a bit hard to find because Apple Maps miss labels the location.

Mert M.

Yelp
The location and the view is nice , Chai latte and Latte are good , that's about it. Food is super expensive, 19 dollars for eggs and Chorizo. Croissants are less than average .

tkincalifornia k.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere and servers. Had Avo toast and coffee. Coffee was decent, the Avo toast was really poor. Hardly toasted (not sure would even call it toasted) no micro greens (price not reduced). Avo was ok.

Steve L.

Yelp
Amazing! Best breakfast and coffee I've had in a long time. Not sure why reviews are so low. So good and so happy we came here!

Linda L.

Yelp
Nice location and views of the water. Breakfast for 3 including tip was $95. I ordered the vege omelet. The eggs were undercooked and runny inside the omelet. I asked if they could put it in the microwave to finish cooking the eggs. They said no because I took a bite out of it that they couldn't heat it, they couldn't make me a new one because they were too busy and I couldn't get a refund on the one meal because the manager wasn't there to authorize the credit!!! The staff threw the undercooked omelet in a to go box and handed it to me. We will definitely be doing a charge back on the credit card for the meal and the 20% tip that was given in advance.

Donahue D.

Yelp
Ordered the yogurt and didn't get what was described in the menu. And when inquired was treated rudely. Lost a customer.

Maeve K.

Yelp
Great place!! Went for breakfast and bought the overnight oats, breakfast sandwich, and lemon tart pastry. All were delicious and filling. The crewed coffee and matcha latte were also very delicious! The coffee had a full bodied flavour without the bitterness. The Café has a nice indoor/outdoor with lots of seating, and staff was friendly, welcoming and very willing to help. The view of the waterfront was also amazing! I highly recommend Kafiex and would go again!

Amira B.

Yelp
I loved this little corner cafe! On the weekends it's poppin, which is fine because they have plenty of seating, including outdoor which is lovely on a sunny day. The baristas are patient and informative. I love a good cup of coffee but I'm not a connoisseur in any way, so I got whatever was recommended from the slow bar and a blue matcha latte. They do have a variety of options which is nice because I can always come back and try something new. I'll definitely be back because you can't beat the location. Their croissants looked extra good, can't wait to try them!

Areena M.

Yelp
I'm surprised by the lack of love for this place. I've only been once (today) for a business-related meeting. It's possible I'm not being as price sensitive as usual since I could expense the tab. However, while I was initially quite skeptical, I found the cajeta latte exceptional and zucchini bread good (both not too sweet, which might mean not sweet enough for people who frequent Starbucks). My guest also very much enjoyed his latte, and he's not much of a coffee drinker. I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, prices are high. So is the overhead if you're leasing waterfront property and paying the exorbitant wages necessary to attract staff these days. The prices would prevent this from being my daily coffee joint, but for a special treat or business meeting, it fits the bill quite nicely. One tip for staff: Know what other businesses are around you so you can make suggestions/provide some direction. I had a subsequent meeting at the Maryhill tasting room. I asked the barista if she knew where it was (I knew it was on the waterfront, but didn't know which direction). She was clueless, which was disappointing.

Kristin B.

Yelp
Nice stop on a walk along the river here. Delicious fresh muffins called Friand followed with an Americano coffee. Lovely to sit at the window bar and look out at the river. The only thing that was super annoying where these pesty flies. They need to do something to take care of that problem.

BigRed B.

Yelp
Large, welcoming Cafe. Wonderful staff, and plenty of them to keep things moving, orders delivered to tables, and tables cleaned. Very clean establishment. I enjoyed a vanilla latte and a breakfast sandwhich...which was large! I stayed so long, I ended up trying a drip coffee and a coffee cake muffin as well. I really enjoyed my time in this Cafe. WiFi, delicious coffee, and tasty food! What more could you ask for??

Loi T.

Yelp
This place has zero context of how to treat their customers. They have no line set up and they expect us to wait. I waited 5 minutes in line to be cut by someone who barely showed up and was serviced so I left. They acted like I didn't even exist and there was no awareness of the line whatsoever.

Nick T.

Yelp
Way way WAY overpriced. So been here a couple times. The food is okay tasting. The price is astronomical. $70plus for some coffees, a breakfast bowl, avocado toast, and maybe a croissant. No alcohol. Ever spent that amount at a coffee shop? Kids vanilla steamer is $4? Crazy. So I've been drinking this coffee since the coffee lab opened. Found out about this place and while it is nice, you will drop a dime here. Want to come for a coffee date? Easily over $10. While that may not seem like a lot to some, it will be for others. I was hoping this place would be my regular spot but cannot justify the prices. Honestly, I have always had a great time meeting the owner and all her staff. I have nothing but great things to say about them.

Glen W.

Yelp
Coffee place on the water front. Way over priced for size of drink. Ordered the Chai Latte. It was so bad that it was undrinkable. Took it back in and returned it. No offer of refund.

RJ D.

Yelp
Must try its a fantastic place. The spinage artichoke dip with fresh chips was great and the siphon coffee was so worth trying
