South Africa's Super Bloom Has Amazing Wildflower Views

"Offering unique lodging such as a cave suite with a private terrace, this reserve in the nearby mountains is popular for exceptional stargazing and for viewing ancient rock art dating back some 6,000 years created by early San and Khoikhoi peoples, combining natural spectacle with cultural heritage." - Greta Rybus

Kagga Kamma Nature Reserve | Best Spanish castles to stay in

"This spectacular nature reserve, three hours from Cape Town, is home to a unique spa resort and its ten unusual ‘cave suites’. Although the facades are man-made, the suites are cleverly integrated into the surrounding rock topography to be almost indistinguishable. Cave-like interiors and uninterrupted landscape views reconnect you with your primitive self. You can also opt for one of their two ‘open-air suites’, situated away from the main lodge for more privacy and utter tranquillity. Guests sleep out under a carpet of stars, and wake to sunrise and uninterrupted views of the bushveld. " - Matthew Roach

First I must comment on the food - WOW! The lamb chops in particular are just the best I’ve ever had. Honestly one of the best meals of my life. Especially when sitting outside by the huge fire of the boma under the stars. The location is of course beautiful. Stark and raw and natural - stunning and ethereal. The team went out of their way to make my stay a pleasure. Not only were they great, when I had a puncture on the road they arranged for my tire to be taken to town to get sorted out and arranged the whole thing for me. That’s really going the extra mile and I want to thank them all again for that. All in all, it’s a magical place. Do all the excursions, go spend time alone in the wilderness, chat to the strangers you’ll meet there and enjoy the silence. Thanks for an incredible stay!

Kagga Kamma Nature Reserve is more than a gem, it is an experience! From the dramatic rock formations, through to the ever changing geography and views - if you do the sunset cruise - you can see tomorrow on the horizon as the Karoo is spread out below you. Highly recommend the tours as their highly experienced guide eagerly shares so much information of the secrets nature holds. The accommodation was 100% in service, cleanliness, private, and comfortable. There are 2 swimming pools, one nestled in the rocks. One can do your own catering or visit the licensed restaurant where all meals are available - remember to book! Take your walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and definitely a camera along, it is suited to families or honeymoon couples - rooms are private. The staff excel in offering good service and information relating to the reserve. We will definitely go back - it is only 200km from Cape Town and great views on offer when you drive to the Reserve, so budget extra time and fill your tank at the last (very small) town: Oppie Berg. Just go!

The service sentric destination had all the hallmarks for a well run business emphsisingthe guest as king. the accommodation was first class and the staff really went out of their way to provide a warm welcome and continued service experience throughout the stay. The food offering was varied and delicious. Definitely going back. This out of the way destination allows you reconnect and lesson the issues we have in our busy lives these days.

Stay right in the heart of theunique Cederberg Mountains. Chizelda at reception did an excellent job with our booking and reception at Kagga Kamma. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food in the restaurant, woth the lodge being so remote. The activities on offer were great and os suitable for every age group. The Spa made the weekend extra relaxing. Dont miss the sunsets or star gazing at Kagga Kamma!

We were gifted a two night Cave suite stay at Kagga Kamma. The gravel road access was easy in our little 4x4 Fiat even though a massive storm had blown over just an hour earlier. The Cave suite is comfortable and the hikes are amazing. It was too cold for me to try the swimming pools but both pools did look inviting. The highlight of the whole trip was how incredibly helpful and respectfully attentive all the staff and personnel were. An asset to Kagga Kamma was DJ. He was delightful, knowledgeable and reassuringly competent as Field Guide. The Al a Carte menu has delicious, well priced options for both vegans and meat-eaters. Examples being the sticky pork ribs and novele mushroom pasta. Best EVER! A special thanks to Jean-Marie, Johannes, and Reyna. Their name tags identified them as "Waiters", but all three were competent Maitre 'd's. Kagga Kamma was wonderful, and we intend to go back for more hikes and a few spa treatments.

A unique experience. Preferable if you have an SUV or 4x4 or high clearance vehicle. Those last 37 kms, are a little challenging but lots of fun if you drive a 4 x 4 like we did, it was part of the adventure. The hotel resort site has cave rooms, and all the different packages available make it perfect for a lot of different styles of vacation. Cave suites, thatched hutts, high end family villas, isolated camp grounds, etc. The food was amazing. The entire staff from the bar man, reception and guides on the Star gazing or game drives are all kwoledgable, pleasant, and attetentive to our needs, safety, and comfort. We will go back again !

A hidden jewel, full of peace and tranquility. I had good sleep,I loved that there was no WiFi signal so I was able to switch off. We really enjoyed the meals, stargazing and hot chocolate, the nature hike and the historical insight shared by the respective guides. Restful and adventurous all in one.

What an incredible experience! This is a must visit area of our beautiful country, and such a lovely lodge! The staff are great, Gaby in particular went out her way to make everything as wonderful as it could be. The hiking is spectacular. The accomomodation very nice (whilst just falling short of luxury) and the food was lovely.
