Kahawa Coffee House - Review - West End - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Kahawa’s tropical hut stands out from Vandy’s brick buildings and Asencion’s concrete fortress—this coffee house oasis serves rose and saffron-tinted espresso drinks along with Swahili street food. You’ll find golden-fried kaimati with different flavored dips, a variety of sambusas, and crispy spring rolls stuffed with spiced chicken and vegetables." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

First time here, I love it!! Amazing Coffee & Chill Vibes! This coffee shop is honestly one of the best I’ve been to. The staff is super friendly, the place feels cozy, and the service is always fast. Their coffee tastes fresh every single time, and the flavors are perfect—smooth, rich, and not too bitter. I also love how clean the place is and how you can actually relax or get work done without noise or pressure. If you’re looking for a spot to chill, study, or grab a great cup of coffee, this is the place. Highly recommend! ☕✨

I went in with zero expectations and got my go-to almond milk cappuccino…. BEST espresso I’ve had in Nashville. It was bold qnd smooth with a rice flavor. I sat for a while and explored the incredible African- inspired design. Before heading out I decided to try the saffron latte. Hands down… best latte I’ve ever had. Incredible on every layer. Also, it is women-immigrant owned and operated and she is simply the sweetest woman ever. HIGHLY recommend!!!

Everything about this place was pure perfection. I was traveling through from Atlanta and wish they were out towards that way! Very sweet family. The whole place looks beautiful like something you would see in a Pinterest board, the perfect atmosphere! Also I ordered the Sambusas; I tried all of them, except for the vegetable one and they were all delicious. I ordered a white mocha pistachio iced latte she was even sweet and said she was trying something new and added cold foam on the top for me and made it all cute With the drizzle and it was probably one of the best lattes I’ve had. Honestly, so very pleased with my experience here and highly would recommend

As a business owner, I truly appreciate quality, consistency, and great customer service—and KAHAWA Coffee delivers on all three. The coffee is excellent, the atmosphere is professional yet welcoming, and the Two Young Women Owners genuinely cares about their customers. It’s a great place to meet clients, get work done, or simply enjoy a well-crafted cup of coffee. Highly recommended.

This café is an absolute gem. The African safari inspired design is stunning and feels so intentional warm leather seating, natural wood tables, woven baskets, lush greenery, and unique decor that instantly transports you to another place. The atmosphere is cozy yet bold, perfect for relaxing, meeting friends, or just enjoying the vibe. Every detail feels curated, from the lighting to the textures and art on the walls. It’s not just a café, it’s an experience. If you love beautifully designed spaces with character and soul, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommend stopping by and taking it all in.

I have been in Nashville for six years, and I think I have found my favorite coffee shop! Not only is the African decor beautiful, but also the fountains and music are so tranquil and inviting. The staff is so friendly and recommended the Heaven Latte - a rose gold colored, insanely aromatic drink that is head and shoulders above your average latte. I tried the Kahawa roll and was blown away. The prices are incredibly reasonable as well. I will be back! Support small business!

The coffee here is bold, rich, and crafted with such unique flavors that every cup feels like an experience. This place has warm earthy tones, natural textures, and vibrant patterns creating an inviting African-inspired atmosphere that makes you want to sit down, slow down, and really enjoy your drink. It feels cozy yet full of character — perfect for both catching up with friends or spending some quiet time. If you’re looking for more than just your usual latte, Kahawa is the place. They’ve built something that feels authentic, welcoming, and memorable. Highly recommend for coffee lovers who want to try something different and truly delicious.

One of the coziest coffee shops I’ve ever been into. So exciting to come back home to Nashville and find a new place that is truly different. Super sweet folks working here! Great place to study!

Yelp
Came across this place from tik tok one night and had to come try the next day. The entire vibe of the decor is what solidified my decision. Upon entry you'll pass outdoor seating with a few tables and chairs. On a pretty day this would be a great little meet up spot. When you enter in you're welcomed by art and artifacts of African culture, intimate lighting, and a semi safari experience. From the outside the space doesn't seem a big until you begin to wander. To the left you'll encounter safari like decor as if you were trekking through animal kingdom. To the right you'll come across a more open area with chairs and tables fit for your work+coffee shop day. They do offer free WiFi along with plenty of outlets for all of your electronic devices. Due to the intimacy of the area, be mindful of your volume when having conversations while others may be busy at work. Customer service is outstanding. I ordered the pink lady matcha which was GREAT. Along with the beef and chicken sambusas and Kahawa roll. I have absolutely No complaints. Ask for all 4 sauces to try with your sambusas and rolls. I will definitely be back. Be sure to go check them out. There is a sign posted to your left of the register which allows you to gauge your sweetness level for all of your beverage needs. Such a smart idea in my opinion to ensure each guest is accommodated adequately.

Yelp
I passed this coffee shop a few weeks ago and finally had time to swing by. I'm glad I did. They share a lot with Sitar and there is parking in the back. The patio is cute and will be a nice spot when it's warm. When you walk in, you're instantly transported to a very "African" place. It reminded me of the African land at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Overly themed and very busy. I'm a Disney person so that's not necessarily bad to me but I can definitely see it being overstimulating for others. I was not a fan of the animal heads in the hallway. Super creepy imo. Service was good. You order at the counter when you first walk in. The desserts in the case looked good but I wasn't in a mood for sweets. I ordered the Signature latte and my husband ordered a black drip. My latte was tasty but needed a touch more sugar and wasn't as hot as I like my drinks. Easy enough to fix for the next visit. We ordered 3 rolls. The Veggie, the Kahawa, and a roll with lamb and potatoes. The veggie was good but slightly bland. The hot honey sauce really helped it. The lamb and potato was good. But the Kahawa roll?? Amazing. Give me a whole plate full! I'm not a fan of mixing foods together but this was fantastic. It had beef, mac & cheese, and collard greens all in one roll. I was skeptical but now I want more. Prices were reasonable. Our two drinks and 3 rolls were under $25. Overall, I'll be back. I want to try the chai pot and check out some of the desserts.

Yelp
Such a great coffee shop. There are several different spaces to hang out and a nice outdoor area with chairs for when the weather is nice. The vibe is fantastic. I ordered a Turkish coffee. It didn't taste like any Turkish coffee I've had in the past but it was delicious and I still liked it

Yelp
So glad I checked this place out after driving by a couple of times and wondering what it was. Parking is behind the building, and they have a little outdoor patio in the front. Service at the counter was friendly and the Velvet Vanilla Dream Latte and Spanish Lattes were both sooo good. The African decor is eclectic and colorful, and there are two sitting rooms to choose from with different vibes. Will definitely be back to try some sambusas and more coffee!

Yelp
The vibe and decor here was really well done. I loved the eclectic furniture and Knick knacks plus they have free parking on site which is a huge plus. That's kind of where the pros end for me personally. My husband and I got two bottled waters and two iced coffees which came out to $26. I know Nashville is getting expensive but this felt like way too much money for what we got. My Spanish latte was okay, didn't really taste like much while I was drinking it even though it had a cold foam on top. My husband got the velvet vanilla latte and it tasted like bitter strawberry. We didn't get food but they do have a full food menu. They are open late so this will be a good spot for people who need to work or study late.

Yelp
I love the vibe and atmosphere! However, my matcha was disgusting. I am a big matcha person and it was so overly sweet with bits of matcha everywhere in the drink. The sambusa was good but everything together was so overpriced. I will definitely stick with the horn from now on

Yelp
The vibe is cool (1 star). The location is great (second star). I wondered why the place was completely empty given ample space and outlets for work/computers. Then we ordered. Very overpriced - just shy of $20 for one coffee and one matcha. It was a high ticket but my issue was that the matcha, though organic, was not good! I love matcha and am not turned-off at all by its gritty nature...typically. This matcha felt like I was doing a cinnamon challenge. I even brought it home and added honey to it. Ultimately I couldn't drink it and ended up pitching it. I can't ever remember doing that with a matcha. This is a one-and-done for me, sadly.
