Portland Restaurant and Bar Closures to Know in January 2025 | Eater Portland

"Opened in September and shuttered just four months later, the Thai brunch-and-dinner spot closed after a brief run. The owners, who operate Somtum Thai Kitchen, wrote on Instagram: "Unfortunately, we faced substantial financial difficulties that compelled us to cease operations." Somtum, located inside the Portland State University campus, remains open." - Dianne de Guzman

We went there before a dance party in Montclair. This place has been on my list for a while so I was glad to try it out. I was able to make reservations through Google Assistant online which made the process much easier. We ordered a bunch of appetizers that our waitress recommended. We got the wings, roti with curry, shrimp with chili sauce, papaya and mango salads to start with. The wings were very flavorful. We got them with penang curry. The shrimp dish was okay but the sauce was yummy. The roti and the curry were delicious. My favorite were the two salads. They were very well spiced and very well balanced. We then ordered the fried whole fish with the basil and tamarind sauce. The extra sauce was an extra $7. The fish was room temperature by the time it arrived but the sauces were hot so I guess we were supposed to pour the sauces on top of the fish. I think the fish should have been hotter. We also ordered the whole chicken that came with its own sauces. Very good! I think I really enjoyed their sauces. We ordered two noodle dishes which could have had more flavor. But overall it was a great experience! I would highly recommend this place. I will definitely come back. The service was very friendly and helpful! Oh and they are BYOB which is always a good thing!

My husband and I were in the area and dropped into Kai Yang randomly for a bite to eat, deciding to take a wild risk by not even checking online reviews beforehand. In short, we had a decent if unspectacular meal. I was surprised at how small the serving our fried calamari starter was, which might have been a blessing in disguise since some of the pieces were a little tough. We experienced similar disappointment with the pad thai. Granted, I struggle with most pad thais since I find most to be either too sweet or too saucy. I found Kai Yang's to be both, but I acknowledge this is entirely a matter of personal preference. In contrast, the massaman curry is a triumph - hot, flavorful, with tender pieces of chicken and potatoes. Paired with rice, we made short work of this entree. If you're searching for dining vibes, look no further. Kai Yang is dressed to the nines, and we received incredibly warm service from start to finish.

Google
Authentic Thai cuisine. Friendly, well dressed and knowledgeable staff. Food was delicious and presentation was professional. The decor was colorful and there is an BYOB option and the best table faced the street and by the window. Few tables featured the outside dining experience. Dessert was available.

We got Chicken Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao takeout. They are both really delicious; even after our car ride home. I love how there are depths to the flavours and not just boring seasonings. I wish the waiter that took our calls didn’t ignore us for 3 times before they picked up. They also didn’t even notice us walking in the restaurant since they were busy talking and facing their backs against the entrance.

I visited this restaurant on a Friday afternoon shortly after it opened for the day and I was seated immediately. It was nice to enjoy the restaurant when it was nearly empty before the large crowds (and noise) arrived. The atmosphere was inviting and warm. The staff was excellent. Everyone was very friendly, attentive, and efficient. To start, I ordered the Mango Salad. It was fresh, crispy, filling and delicious. For my main, I ordered the Half Kai Yang (chicken) with Massaman Curry. The flavor the curry was delicious and the chicken was tender. The portion of the meal was very large - I had to take most of it home and then I was able to split it into two small meals. Definitely an excellent value for the money. Overall a very good experience!

They cater dietary restrictions and made us jain food (no onion, no garlic). The food is tasty and be sure to mention spice level. We had tom yum soup (yes JAIN), masaman red curry, drunken noodles and stir fry kro which was very tasty.

Google
In our quest for the best Thai cuisine in Montclair, this spot came up a few times. We decided to give it a shot, and it did not disappoint. The flavors were genuinely authentic and delicious! We ordered chicken satay, pad kee mao, and red curry with half chicken from their specials menu. While the pad kee-mow could've had a bit more flavor, overall, it was a fantastic experience. The staff is very friendly and attentive.

Google
Best Thailand cuisine in the town! Great and very authentic flavors, reasonable prices and very easy going service. The only downside on it is dark interior circumstances and no kids menu, not friendly to family with kids, only personal experience. But we will come back again for food!

Yelp
What a fantastic first visit I had at this casual, colorful, Thai restaurant on Bloomfield Ave! We went on a Sunday afternoon, and we were warmly greeted when we arrived. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, and helpful with our choices. They are known for their Marinated Chicken served on the bone, so I knew that I wanted to try this. I ordered half a chicken with Massaman Curry. The portion was enormous! Beautiful, vibrant red curry, with vegetables and the chicken and served with a portion of white rice. The chicken was tender and flavorful on its own, but the heavenly curry brought the dish to another level. One of the best Thai curries that I've ever tasted. Paired with a delicious Thai Iced Tea, it was a perfect meal. I will definitely return to Kai Yang. I can't wait to try more of the menu!

Yelp
Small place and a little dark but great service- our waitress was exceptional- she guided our order Veggie curry puffs, pad see ew, the salmon were yummy A little pricey but worth it

Yelp
The food was excellent, the chicken was perfectly seasoned. The red curry was some of the best I've ever had. Everything was hot fresh and delicious. I would absolutely come back.

Yelp
Best pad thai I've ever had in my life. Great attentive service and wonderful employees. Always a great pick me up spot.

Yelp
We were off to try something new on a cold rainy afternoon so we picked this place. It was empty when we got there with a bold and refreshing decor. The wait was longer than expected considering that we were the only customers. The food looked amazing but it lacked flavor. I want to believe that someone simply forgot to add some seasoning to the fish. We couldn't finish it all because the taste was too bland. We didn't bother to express this to the waiter because the food had taken such a long time to come out and once the food came out, the waiter was no where to be found for a long while. At the point where the waiter showed up to check on us, we had decided to wrap things up and ask for the check, which took a long time to make it back to our table.

Yelp
Great place, friendly staff...amazing food!....everything we had was delish! Great prices!

Yelp
I don't have Thai food often so my rating could be off just because I'm not used to these flavors. I had the Tom Yum and Veggie Curry Puffs and they were both okay. I didn't love them or have the feeling I would want to order it again, but as mentioned it might just because this cuisine is not as familiar to my palate. The inside was very nice and so was the service. Prices were very fair. If you're a big Thai lover I suspect this quality of this food is up there.

Yelp
A group of us were visiting town for a work trip and onenofnojr colleagues recommended Kai Yang. Upon arrival and as we were sat, we noticed the set up and details for how the restaurant was designed. Even the bathroom had a nice vibe. It took a little bit for our order to be taken and I wish there was more papaya for the papaya salad. The fried calamari was seasoned well, didn't have too much beading and two different dipping sauces. The tom yum and grilled Salmon, which I ordered for my meal, were tasty and pretty healthy sized portions. I didn't try the curries or fried rice personally but my colleagues raved it was delicious.

Yelp
Food, service, and vibes are 10/10 here. Get their Thai tea!! So delish and perfect to pair with the dishes especially if you get any spice to them. They also gave us fried bananas on the house which were tasty and so crunchy.

Yelp
Disappointed is an understatement. Came here for a lunch on a Saturday. Situated on the "main" street in Montclair, it was very aesthetically enticing. Sat down and was immediately greeted by the waiter. He was prompt in bringing water and asking if we needed and help/ were ready to order. Ordered the following: Thai Iced Tea x2: did not have the fragrant tea flavor or the sweet taste from condensed milk. Right in the middle and would be perfect for those who don't handle sweet foods very well. Daily special lettuce wrap: this was full of flavor but the execution was very disappointing. Placed on romaine lettuce so there was no natural cup to keep the toppings in place which meant that everything spilled as you tried to eat it. Iceberg lettuce would probably be a better choice here Daily special half chicken in yellow curry sauce: Curry was flavorful with a bit of a kick so be careful if you cannot handle spice too well. Carrots were good (except one which had a very weird soggy French fry texture) and potatoes were a nice touch as well. The chicken was... dry. Being a customer that comes relatively close to when the store opened, I thought I would be getting juicy chicken filled with flavor. I was wrong. Even the dark meat pieces were a bit tough. I asked the waiter if it was fresh chicken, which he answered affirmatively so that was even more concerning. Would not recommend. Chicken Pad See-Ew: everything about this was eh. There was a very strong soy sauce flavor with every bite so not sure if that is normal but it didn't sit well with me, especially since I ate the chicken curry first. Overall- would not recommend this place to someone looking for food in Montclair. This place has an amazing opportunity to do be a stand out restaurant in the community, but not in its current state.

Yelp
Yummy Thai food at very affordable price. The two noodle dishes were great. However, the chem special Kai Yang chicken was exceptional. It was tender, juicy and full of flavor.

Yelp
Amazing food and service! Dining in is a great atmosphere and picking up is super easy too. Delicious food, great potions and price. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Friendly and attentive service, with some great Thai food! The menu is simple, which I appreciate - it seems they are known for their rotisserie chicken, so we ordered the Half portion; you can also get it with curry. The chicken was juicy and soft, not dry or tough at all and the two sauces - one more sweet and one more spicy - complemented the chicken perfectly. The Pad Thai was a large portion, so this is great for sharing! Leaned more on the sweet than tangy side but still tasty!

Yelp
Was in the mood for some thai food and saw this place had lots of reviews so was very excited! I think the Kai Yang (chicken dish) was ok, not as juicy and not as much flavor which was disappointing since we were excited about this dish as it seemed to be the main dish. It was also more expensive than expected for the dish quality, so that is also why we would pass on this next time. We also ordered the massaman curry and pad kee mao. Massaman curry was different than others we've tried, but it was still good. The pad kee mao was full of flavor and super delicious, definitely our favorite dish. Overall, will probably come here again to fill my Thai food cravings, but will try some of their other dishes.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places in the neighborhood. The staff is great and the food is always so flavorful. My go to is the pad see ew, curry puffs, chicken rama, but wow the wings are something else! ALWAYA ORDER THE WINGS. I enjoyed their piquancy. Other than Egans these are the best around. If you're looking for great comfort food this is the place. One consideration, if you'll have. I'll put my two cents in. I'm not a big fan of the desert menu. I don't know if it's the batter of the fried ice cream but it's not my favorite batter and I don't care for the chocolate sauce on top. Also the sticky rice could be a little sweeter. But again all personal preference.

Yelp
A friend and I had dinner at Kai Yang. It was empty when we got there around 5pm on a Sunday but filled up quite a bit writhing the next two hours. We shared an order of spring rolls, which were tasty. I got the soup and my friend got pad Thai. We both had Thai iced tea. All solid choices!

Yelp
If you're on the hunt for great Thai food in Montclair, Kai Yang is definitely worth a visit. The flavors are authentic and delicious! We tried the chicken satay, pad kee mao, and the red curry with half chicken from their specials menu. The pad kee mao could've been a bit more flavorful, but overall, the meal was fantastic. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, perfect for a casual dinner. The staff is friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. Definitely a solid choice for Thai cuisine in Montclair!

Yelp
Ordered pineapple fried rice, shrimp pad thai and massaman chicken curry for pick up. I am truly sorry to say that the food wasn't tasty at all. The pad thai tasted sour - shrimp overcooked, pineapple fried rice had no flavor and massaman curry was very thick and tasted over powerful. I'm a local resident and usually order from Thai Elephant in Verona or Thai Essence in Nutley - both are on the top of my list. Maybe it was a bad night when I ordered? Will likely try again another day in hopes that it'll taste better. Two stares because they did give a fair amount of food.

Chia L.

Yelp
29 March 2025: 1) papaya salad medium spicy 2) crispy whole fish with basil 3) pad see yew with chicken 4) half marinated chicken. The papaya salad is sour, fresh and authentic. The sauce is the best and we used it with the other dishes. Pad see yew is good. We should have asked for a recommendation for the sauce on the fish as the basil sauce is not spicy enough for us.

Yelp
Came here again with some friends. We decided to share everything family-style and would definitely recommend! We started with their special appetizer (coconut shrimp), it was just alright. It only came with 4 pieces for $12, which was not worth it in my opinion. The entrees we ordered made up for it, though. We ordered the Chicken Rama, pad kee-mow with chicken, kra-pow stir fry with chicken, and massaman curry with.. you guessed it, chicken! Everything was great! We especially like the curry and the kee-mow. The kra-pow stir fry was just ok, glad we tried it but wouldn't order again. It was a little too salty. Service was excellent and our waiter was very patient. Will bring more friends here! It's a great option for Thai in the area.

Yelp
I had Kai Yang bookmarked on Yelp for a while based on reviews. We finally went for dinner last night. The decor and lighting gave me NYC village vibes. We decided on spring rolls, vegetable drunken noodles spicy and the Signature Half Chicken. The spring rolls didn't have much filling inside. The drunken noodles good and made spicy as requested. The signature chicken was a HUGE disappointment! All parts of the chicken were DRY and lacked flavor. It seemed like chicken was reheated one too many times. The dipping sauces were mediocre. We had to use the extra hot sauce given with the drunken noodles to at least save the chicken. I had high hopes for Kai Yang. Although the drunken noodles were good, it's not enough to make me return. I would go to your local spots and skip this one.

Yelp
Came here with zero expectations as I prefer to give all restaurants a fair shot. Upon entering the restaurant the hostess immediately asked if I was here for take out without greeting or anything which was rude and off putting. Luckily my server redeemed on the service side. Now to the food. I ordered the chicken dumplings, TomYum soup, and drunken noodles (pad-ke-mow). All food was served hot. The dumplings were good although the plum dipping sauce lacked flavor. The tom yum soup was heavily based in lemon grass. An overwhelming lemon grass flavor, however, it was served hot with many vegetables and combined with the sticky rice it was not too bad. The drunken noodles had a good ratio of noodles and chicken but severely lacked flavor. I did suggest the hot sauce as another reviewing suggested and it did help but overall this place lacks in flavor. They achieve in delivering hot and ready to order food, however, the authentic thai flavor is missing. Ambience is nice, colorful, chill. I love Thai food and have tried many restaurants throughout and Overall I will not be returning as the food lacked significantly in taste.

Yelp
When you walk in you're immediately greeted by a friendly server and taken to your seat. Your mood will automatically improve by the cheery patterns and colors surrounding you. This place is a VIBE. Aside from being truly instagram worthy, the food is amazing. My significant other and I ordered the curry puffs to share and they were absolutely delectable. The plum sauce that it comes with perfectly offsets the richness of the curry and pastry. It wouldn't be a true experience for me without Thai iced tea, they served me the perfect proportions of cream and tea and the tea had a really nice deep flavor. It came pre-mixed which is fun because it's so pretty seeing the color slowly change. I am not a coffee drinker so I don't often get this small satisfying experience. For my entree I had the Pad Kee Mow (drunken noodle) one of my favorite Thai dishes. It was the perfect temperature and taste. We shared pineapple vegetable fried rice and while it wasn't the best I've ever had it was still really tasty and the portion size was more than generous. My fiance had the pineapple chicken which was crispy, tangy and spicy- super yum, I definitely picked off his plate more than a few times, luckily he doesn't mind! Overall a great experience, this was my second time here and is my favorite Thai restaurant.

Yelp
My friends and I came here on a Saturday night around 7pm for dinner. We were seated right away. We decided to get some apps and shared our entrees. We started with the calamari and vegetarian spring rolls. Both were very good. I really enjoyed the dipping sauce the calamari came with. For entrees we ordered pad thai with shrimp, pineapple fried rice with vegetables and pad kee-mow with shrimp. I loved the pad kee-mow! It was my first time trying it and it was delicious! It was everyone's favorite because it was all gone by the end of our meal. The pad thai was also very good. The pineapple fried rice was okay, I enjoyed the other dishes more. Their chili oil is really good, if you like spicy make sure to ask for some. The restaurant itself is very cozy and nicely decorated. Overall, we had a really great experience.
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
Food was delivered hot and on time. 4 Vegetarian Spring Rolls per order. They were fried to hard for my liking. Pad Kee-Mow and Kra-Prow spice level hot Not spicy at all. The entrees were flavorful but next time I'll request extra hot.
google avatar

Mecca M.

Yelp
Tried Thai food for the first time last week. The food at this restaurant was so good that I'm still thinking about it! I tried the pineapple fried rice and mango sticky rice. Both dishes were amazing. The spot itself is vibrant and cozy. The staff were really friendly, seemed to genuinely care about our dining experience. I will definitely be returning! (That's my spoon imprint in the rice )

Yelp
Interesting decor of neon lights and varying patterns. Ladies bathroom had some fun vintage style posters. Fast service. Food was average but enjoyable. Enjoyed curry puff, green chicken curry & pad Thai.
google avatar

Yelp
We enjoyed the Kai Yang chicken and the Drunken Noodles ( I was more a fan of the noodles and duck). My main dish was the duck with basil and it was splendid! I couldn't imagine anything tastier at that moment! I recommend the duck if you haven't tried it.

Yelp
Pretty authentic, cozy Thai outfit on the thoroughfare of Montclair! We had a show to attend to in the Wellmont so we stopped by for a quick bite - I was immediately taken by the warm & cozy vibe of the restaurant filled with happy diners on a Friday night. We initially had to sit at a table near the entrance as all other tables were filled, but upon request, they seated us at a booth when it vacated a little later. We wanted quick food as we had a little less than an hour to eat before the show, and our Red curry with shrimp and chicken pad see ew came out reasonably fast. Chicken Pad See Ew (Main, 5/5) - This was one of the best PSW I've had - the noodle was sublime in its chewiness & the flavor absorption. You know how some noodles are just covered in sauce/seasoning? This one was as if the noodles were marinated. Chicken was a bit tough, but overall it was quite enjoyable dish. Red Curry w/ Shrimp (Main, 4/5) - It was as good as other red curries I've had, but the shrimp was juicy, large & succulent - definitely not the frozen kind! I thought carrots were curiously largely-cut, but everything was well-cooked and it had just the right portion. Due to the time, we didn't have the chance to eat dessert, but looking around, the place was only getting busier with other diners streaming in and we left quite happy with our quick dinner. A solid Thai option if you're ever in the Montclair area!

Yelp
Ordered: Half Chicken (~$11): signature chicken marinated all day Pad Kee Maow with Shrimp (~$16): flat rice noodle, egg, green pepper, onion, carrot, basil Aya's take: Thai food usually hits the spot and that was the case at Kai Yang! We arrived a little bit before 6pm on a Saturday and most tables were already taken. Luckily, we were seated right away. The Half Chicken is loaded with flavor from the marinade including garlic, lemongrass, black peppercorn, palm sugar and coriander root. The skin was slightly crispy and flavorful, and the chicken was tender. My Pad Kee Maow with Shrimp was the real winner! The flat rice noodles were perfect, and believe it or not, the egg actually took this to the next level. The portion of shrimp was solid and I liked the slight pan-fry on them. Great meal and cute ambiance!

Yelp
Came here for dinner last weekend and we were able to get a table fairly quickly. The ambience was nice and didn't feel too loud, even though it was a busy Friday night. Service was excellent. I got the pad Thai with chicken and mild spice. Overall it was a good dish and definitely not something I would have made at home. However I didn't feel that there was a lot of flavor to the dish, which may have been my fault since I asked for a lower spice level. I've heard amazing things about this restaurant so maybe I just didn't order the right thing. I'm definitely open to coming back and trying some of their other options!
google avatar

Nehal A.

Yelp
I have been meaning to visit Kai Yang for months, finally got a chance this weekend. This place is on busy street of 2, gets super busy in evening hours. But the inside of restaurant is so colorful, has great vibe and sense of Thai cuisine. We got to try almost all of their dishes. Mango salad is an excellent starter. Spring rolls are okay. The marinated whole chicken is good. Loved the thin glass noodles with chicken. Ted curry and fried rice were great too. I liked their Thai iced tea too. To my surprise, their kitchen is swift, items come out within minutes. All servers serve all tables, which makes it really convenient to keep ordering stuff. Really a great spot an amazing dinner with friends and family.

Yelp
Overall a good Thai option in Montclair. The service is excellent. Their restaurant is named "chicken" in Thai, so their chicken special is definitely something to order. Their dishes overall are large and tasty.

Yelp
Loved this place!! I came in with a group of 3 for dinner after we've been eyeing this place for a while and it did not disappoint. We went around 6:30pm and it wasn't busy but over the next few minutes, all the tables filled up really quickly. We were seated immediately and all the service was super fast. Our waiters were all so attentive and helpful. One of my friends is dairy-free and gluten-free and the menu was extremely accommodating (if you're curious, almost everything is already gluten free or can be made gluten free). We ordered the papaya salad, green curry with chicken, pad see ew with tofu, and pad ke mow with chicken. Everything was absolutely delicious and overflowing with flavors. Everything was also really well priced and worth it. I highly recommend checking out this place!!
google avatar

Shami L.

Yelp
Another great experience here! Stopped in when my family and I had the salmon smothered with the Tom ka sauce and some rice on the side. Yum yum yum all around. The slice of salmon is pretty large and portions are filling. The meal did not disappoint neither did the customer service. Montclair is a bit tough for parking esp on Bloomfield Ave but the surrounding streets have parking lots that are a short walk away. Give this spot a try!

Yelp
A lovely Thai restaurant in Montclair. We were the only ones dining in on a Saturday at 12.30pm. Service was really good but what makes this place awesome was the food. I am a big fan of Pad See Ew and this place serves one of the best pad see ew in NJ. You can taste the wok hei in the protein and noodles and i love the heat as well. For what it costs, they were generous with the amount of protein too. Highly recommended !
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
All the dishes we had were very flavorful. Tom kha soup was probably the most intense of its aroma from any place I could remember. The ingredients were ok. Not the highest quality. But for the price and location, it's understandable and acceptable. Our waiter was a little overwhelmed especially towards the end of the meal when the place was full. But he did nothing wrong. And definitely helpful.
google avatar

Marissa G.

Yelp
The one star is for the Thai tea. It was the only decent tasting item. The chicken fried rice had ZERO flavor! It wasn't even fried! It tasted like steamed rice, had a few pieces of chicken no onions so disappointed. I also ordered chicken pad Thai medium hot. I feel like I got the end of the night leftovers. The reviews were pretty good which is why I decided to order from here... smh never again

Yelp
Enjoyed this great spot before a concert at the Wellmont Theater, located across the street. The food was awesome and Erica, our server this evening, was a rock star!! She's super friendly, put our beers on ice for us (BYOB) and was great at helping with menu items. We started with the vegetable spring rolls and vegetarian curry puffs - both were great and came with a nice side of plum dipping sauce. Delicious! For entrees we both tried the Pad-Kee-Mow - mine a mix of veg and shrimp with a "heat factor" of 7 out of 10; my buddy went with the same dish, shrimp only, with a full heat factor of 10! Yeah baby - they were hot!! Woo! We enjoyed both with some Kane Brewery IPAs we picked up, which complemented the dishes perfectly! Highly recommend this great Thai restaurant when you're in this area of Montclair. Looking forward to trying their other dishes next time we're back at the Wellmont!

Yelp
I wanted to love this place but something about it just didn't sit well in my spirit, Ahahaha. All jokes aside, the food was hot and tasty but not fresh. That's a bummer for me. The shrimp I could tell were frozen shrimp and to be honest that's just lazy. Maybe I'll go back to try something that doesn't have seafood. Or maybe not. It's hard to compete when your competition is SLA which is in the Montclair area.

Yelp
I was attending a show at Wellmont and this place happened to be across the street from where I parked, about a block and a half from the theater. I checked the menu and it looked great so I went in. I asked my waitress for a suggestion and she said to try one of the stirfry dishes and so I did. She also asked me what level of spiciness which is great for those that want to control the heat. I decided on an order of spring rolls to start and the chicken KRA-PROW. All was excellent and the portion was perfect so I didn't have any leftovers sitting in the car. My server was so sweet and attendive and the decor is so adorable. This will definitely be a new spot before a show.

Yelp
Went here around 6:30PM with two other friends on a Sunday. We were seated right away! We decided to share vegetable pad see ew, shrimp green curry and half chicken. Each dish was so delicious and packed with a lot of flavor. Would def come again to this restaurant whenever Im around this area. Very happy with the service and food! This place is also BYOB! There's a liquor store nearby if you want to quickly buy a bottle of wine or beer :)

Yelp
We randomly decided to go out on a Friday night and came across this place. They only take reservations for parties of 5 or more but we were able to find a table right away when we went on a Friday evening. The interior is colorful and fun and has a very joyful vibe. The restaurant is BYOB and in case you forgot to bring a bottle there are places nearby you could pick a bottle of wine or beer. Coming to the food, it tastes flavorful and amazing. You can order food with varying levels of spice which is always a good thing. Once the food order is placed it does come out pretty quick which is always appreciated. We tried entrees with meat while our friends got vegetarian entrees and everything tasted great. This will now be my go to Thai restaurant when I'm in the area.

Yelp
Great Thai food. No beef in any options. Whole chicken is a little dry. We also got Shrimp pad Thai, pad see ew, panang curry and lots appetizers. Pad see ew is a little too salty for me. All are good and flavorful! Nice vibes by Montclair college

Yelp
Last time I came here and remember having a delicious meal, but forgetting to review so here we go. In my most recent visit. That still seems to be how they operate. This was some good Thai eating right here. First let's get to the appetizer, we got the Chicken Satay. Great, but the real star of that show is the peanut sauce. You can drizzle that on anything and it will make your meal and maybe your life overall better (sorry those who have a peanut allergy), That sauce is very good. Now I love me a good Drunken noodle, my favorite, so I went with something reminiscent of it - Pad Kee Mow. Delicious. The flavors and ingredients were popping. green pepper, onion, carrot, basil all in there. Best part. You can go half and half with the meat so I go chicken and shrimp! Sounds weird but so good and only $1 more. Did they skimp on the shrimp? Nope. I counted about 7 decent sized shrimp so they're good there. Waitstaff were nice and I love the setting and décor here. A very mosaic patterned design all around with nice lighting I found just dim enough to see everything well. Top Thai spot in the area for sure.

Yelp
This place was delicious! Kai Yang is a particular Thai marinated grilled chicken dish, and there were lots of pictures of chicken everywhere so we felt like we had to order chicken dishes. We had the chicken skewers which were flavorful and amazing. We also had the pineapple chicken which had a sweet vibrant flavor that kind of tasted like a Thai upgraded version of orange chicken. We also ordered pad thai and pad see ew, which are the dishes that we use as our barometer for Thai places. They both had the right flavor combination and tasted very good. The pad thai had a tiny little bit of spice in it but it elevated rather than overwhelmed the dish, and my wife ate a lot of it despite having a very low spice tolerance. We will likely be back.
