Stopped by in Quebec City for dinner and was impressed for the most part. The restaurant itself is beautiful and is inside part of a larger upscale food hall.
We ordered the Omakase which included an incredible small plate that involved sweet potato puree and I can't remember what else (but it was delicious and I wanted to lick the plate), a beautifully plated sashimi course (the scallops and shrimp were unreal and among the best sashimi I've ever had), a nigiri course that included one piece topped with foie gras, which was insanely good and a brilliant French-Canadian twist, and a hot dish centered on smoked duck which was also delicious. The omakase finished with two different sushi rolls, both of which were good if not the same level as the dishes that came before.
Our waiter Julien was also a highlight of the night. He was very friendly and attentive and had fantastic wine recommendations. As my French is very limited he was great and accommodated us with English. The service here is most definitely 5 stars thanks to Julien.
The only misfire of the night was the dessert - a Japanese cheesecake with yuzu topping. The texture was horrible - more akin to stale bread than any cheesecake I have had before - and the yuzu flavor quite overpowering. We could not finish this and would not recommend it.
Because of the incredible sashimi I would highly recommend this restaurant and the omakase was certainly varied and filling if that is your thing. And ask for Julien for great service. I would just recommend going elsewhere for dessert.
