Kainos Coffee

came in the other morning and got the rise n shine with a bourbon maple latte. best breakfast sandwich i’ve ever had, brianna was the barista working and she was so nice. cant wait to come back in the winter and grab my favorite peppermint mocha!

my favorite place in southeast to grab a quick breakfast and a great coffee. (Also has a great pastry selection too!) Brianna makes the best mochas as well and they have peppermint for the holidays!

I stopped by for the first time the other day, and it was such a cozy spot with great vibes. My drink was perfect, and the barista, Brianna, was so friendly and helpful. Will definitely be coming back soon!

I love Kainos! I walk to this place at least once a week, and I love their coffee, bagels, and bagel sandwiches. It’s a chill ambiance, great for reading or socializing. And the service is great!

Perfect spot to get some work done, plenty of food and pastry options, and a lovely, frothy seasonal pumpkin latte!

The barista was super kind and pleasant. We stopped in for the first time got 2 lattes to go pretty speedy service also. Great coffee would visit again!

I’ve visited twice now. I experienced a delicious oat milk latte the first time and then I tried the drip coffee. It was flavorful and perfect strength. Staff are very friendly and the atmosphere has great energy. So glad they’ve moved into the neighborhood!

Really great intimate spot right in the heart of Powell. Owners and employees are super nice, a little neighborhood coffee shop on a busy street. Coffee and food are great, with an excellent pastry selection.

I've been working my way through experiencing different coffee shops around the neighborhood I'm staying in as I visit. This one came up and it was a lovely simple visit. I got an Oatmilk cappuccino to go so we were there long but the space is simple and sweet. WiFi, seating in and out, bathroom (one and all gender) pastries and little things to buy. The service was kind. And the coffee was good.

Sorry to say the last few times I've been here it's been awful. Truly no other word for it. The pastries are NOT fresh, there is no way they could be. On 2 separate visits the puff pastry had the classic day old softness and stale flavor. The coffee was really bad too. It was literally watery. Furthermore, they mixed it for you which I always a terrible way to go for a coffee shop. It's such a specific thing for people and for my taste they added way too much cream and sugar. Ruining anything morsel of redeem-ability of the already watery coffee. I wanted this place to work and be a great addition to Foster Rd but sadly that is not the case. I will not be returning and I don't recommend it!

I was in the area and needed a cup of coffee and decided to stop in at Kainos. There was a decent amount of street parking available in the surrounding area. I ordered a vanilla latte. The latte was ok. A regular latte was $5.50 and an extra $1 for house made flavoring. The flavoring wasn't very flavorful. It definitely had a sweetness but no vanilla flavor. The espresso that was used was a bit more acidic than I generally prefer as well. Service was friendly and plenty of seating at the coffee shop for you to relax and enjoy your drink. I will be back to try some of their other offerings!

overall: 4/5 drink: 3.5/5 service: 4/5 ambiance: 4/5 i've driven pass Kainos many times and have never stopped by until now! it was finals week at my school so i decided to check out the cafe. they only have street parking!! firstly, the exterior and interior are adorable. with ample seating to catch up with a friend or to get some work done. i didn't notice any outlets while i was studying here, but i enjoyed the aesthetics of the cafe. upon walking in, i was greeted by a kind woman who took my order: 16oz ice latte with honey syrup. i read from other reviews that they housemake all their syrups, and from the cup of coffee i had, i could definitely taste the quality of the syrup! so so yummy. only downsides: not much coffee taste (too milky), and they charge an extra $1 to substitute for alternative milks. i was able to get some studying done, which was pretty nice! i'd recommend stopping by to try drinks with their house made syrups if you're in the area.

I've been in here a handful of times - and I'll be back, I'm sure. Espresso - it's good. Lattes have been ok to really good. Depends on the day. Overall, pretty solid. Service - it's decent. Everyone has been friendly, but if there is only one person behind the counter, which often is the case, it's painful. They do griddled sandwiches, which is cool. But hard for one person to make sandwiches, take orders, and make coffee. Stood in line for a solid 10 min without the ONLY person behind the counter realizing there were a few people in line. Never looked back once, completely in their own world making sandwiches. Which is cool, But maybe have someone who can handle taking orders? Point being, have 2 people working. Ambiance - it's so cute. Good vibes and is a good addition to the neighborhood. Definitely happy to come back and it be a regular rotating coffee shop I go to, with the potential to wait around a little longer than some places.

Coffee is great! Lids are TERRIBLE. I would knock off a star for the lids but the coffee was too good. Bring your own mug if taking to go. The space is really nice with a relaxing vibe and they have a nice looking patio away from traffic on Foster.

The bagel sandwiches are hot, fresh, and amazing! Service was quick and friendly. Lattes were excellent as well, awesome spot with a great vibe to sit and have a drink and breakfast :)

I love the food, I love the coffee, I love the employees there, I like how quiet the place is, since I would be able to be on my phone or whatever. However, I just wish that there was more running the place so I would be able to get to other places earlier, I would suggest hiring one person to take orders from customers and the other would work on making the food and coffee, but other then what I just mentioned, I love the place.

Great coffee and sandwiches. A lil pricey - priced at the Portland norm though. The bagels are good and staff are sweet

Such a cute addition to the neighborhood. They have an amazing aesthetic, amazing product, & the service was outstanding! 10/10 would recommend, & 100% will be back. Try their seasonal pumpkin spice latte, & their SE breakfast sandwich. Most of all, be kind, tip well!

Cute new coffee place on Foster! I tried one of their house-made syrups (pumpkin spice) because it was vegan and it was delicious. Lots of alt milk options too.

Visited Kainos when they were located on Sandy and was so very happy to find that they did not close, but only moved to this new, bigger and brighter location on Foster. The owners are absolute sweethearts and run the cage like their home, so please don't be in a rush as the coffee and food are made with care and love! Their house-made syrups are fantastic and bursting with flavor. For something special try one of the seasonal drinks: I tried the Eggnog latte which was like drinking pillows of eggnog, but not so oversweet that you could still taste the delicious coffee. Daughter's matcha latte with honey lavender was perfect! She had a maple scone that matched her matcha - lots of flavor! Now for my breakfast sammy... one of the BEST I've had in Portland! The everything bagel was toasted crispy but was soft enough to make my sandwich spot on! The egg was cooked soft, not runny, the right amount of cheese and the bacon just this side of crispy! Absolute perfection! Cameron the owner and his wife deserve kudos and lots of customers! Definitely recommend!

This place is GREAT! Beautiful space, great place to do focused work or hang with a friend. Delicious coffee & espresso drinks, made with care. Chatted with the owner and his wife for a minute - very kind and friendly. Majorly rooting for these folks - I hope they do well in this neighborhood!

This little coffee shop is great! The barista (maybe the owner too) was super kind and friendly! All of their syrups are made in house and unique but delicious. My partner got the bourbon maple syrup in a latte and it was great! They sell beans and baked goods/bagels too, and have a reward system for purchases. Cute plants, cute place! Definitely recommend.

I stopped by Kainos coffee because I needed a coffee shop to study at and Keepers coffee was way too busy, and I'm so glad I did. Kainos is a such a cute new coffee shop with cute plants, lights, comfy seats, and a funky mural. Only negative is that I only noticed one outlet to plug in devices, making this a difficult place to study at if it's really busy, but everything else was great :) I got a brown sugar cinnamon latte which is a seasonal drink, as per the recommendation of the barista and it was delicious (and not to mention reasonably priced). The barista was also really sweet and personable, I will definitely be coming back!

Cutest coffee shop on the block! It's so cute and colorful, the coffee is amazing and the owners are the coolest people around. The breakfast sandwiches are GOURMET, I order one pretty much every time I'm there, and you should definitely check it out if you're in the area!
