I had an eye Dr appointment at the hospital that day at 7:30 am.
The past few days I had been occasionally having a very minor pain in my upper chest, so I decided to check it out since I was there anyway.
At that time it didn't hurt at all.
I went into the Urgent Care section of the hospital, where I had some tests done. (x-ray, blood,EKG)
Everything was normal. After waiting around Urgent Care for an hour, they told me I was going to be admitted for observation.
After about 2 more hours I finally got moved to a room. They said the next morning I would have a stress test done.
After the test in the morning, they initially said they didn't see anything wrong. They wanted me to stay another night for tests in the morning.
Since I was just going to the eye Dr, I was not prepared to stay overnight again, plus I had a host of family issues I needed to take care of.
They finally let me out after prescribing a medication and making me promise to come back for another test.
During my stay, I was talking to one of the nurse leaders. I told her that from the time that I was in the Urgent care, to when the nurses came around at night to take my vitals, the taking of my blood pressure was VERY inconsistent. I am aware of the proper way to take a blood pressure reading, and none of the nurses followed the correct procedure.
When being interviewed by doctors and nurses, they asked if they could use a dictation program on their phone.
I should have said NO!
After reading the summary of my visit, they got all of the information wrong & out of context. Now I have to go in and see if I can get my records corrected.
When the doctors came and let me know their findings, they just rambled on, reading from paper notes. I would like to be given a paper copy of the findings they were talking about. This way I could properly explain to my loved ones what's going on.
This was the first time staying in a hospital, and I hope it's the last!!
