Back in June of 2025, Dr. Yoo happen to be in the office for my first ENT scan, the same day she did my biopsy, then less than a few weeks later she did a surgical biopsy and the diagnosis was Advanced stage 3 Laryngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (throat cancer). I completed the required 7 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. On 12/31/2025 Dr. Yoo scoped me one more time and currently I am (cancer free). Dr. Yoo and all of the other providers and departments saved my life and for that I am forever grateful. I have been with Kaiser for over 35 years and I love the services that they provide.

The staff is very friendly and caring from those in front to the nurses and aides. All of the doctors I have had experience with in the ophthalmology department are great. They all are very professional, polite and explain things well. I always get the feeling that they really do care and have your best interest at heart.

I started at the beginning of 2026 with genuine optimism about the integrated care model. My first interaction with the system in late January involved lab work, which was handled efficiently. However, the clinical experience that followed — particularly my March 3 appointment with my primary physician, Shaminder Singh — left me deeply concerned about the quality of patient engagement and communication. After completing my lab work in January, I had to wait more than a month for the follow-up appointment on March 3 to actually discuss my diabetes management and next steps. For a chronic condition like diabetes, that is already a long and stressful wait to understand what treatment adjustments may be needed. During the January interaction, I had clearly informed the physician about the medication I was already taking. Yet when the March 3 appointment took place — which was effectively my first real clinical discussion about treatment — there was little to no continuity of that conversation. What followed was an interaction that felt dismissive and confusing rather than collaborative. I came to the appointment with a straightforward goal: to discuss how to improve my diabetes management based on what has previously worked for me. Instead of a thoughtful medical discussion, the interaction repeatedly felt rushed and transactional — almost as if the priority was to move through the visit rather than actually understand my health concerns. Several moments during the visit were particularly troubling: • I was told Kaiser “does not have newer medications,” which immediately made me question whether all treatment options were truly being considered. • When I asked about using a Continuous Glucose Monitor, the conversation abruptly shifted to insulin. That you can only have it if you have insulin. • Earlier in the same appointment I had been told insulin was not necessary, yet later it was suddenly presented as the path forward — particularly after I requested a referral. The inconsistency was confusing and concerning as a patient trying to understand a treatment plan. The tone of the conversation also became uncomfortable. At one point I was told that if I wanted certain options I should “go to a concierge doctor,” along with the comment that the physician was “not a concierge doctor.” That response felt dismissive and unnecessary for a patient simply trying to understand their health options. What was perhaps most concerning is that basic continuity-of-care questions were never asked. Despite the month-long gap between my lab work and this appointment, the physician did not ask whether I still had my medications, whether they had expired, or whether I had enough supply to continue treatment. I had to actively bring up medications myself and request discussion about them. Instead of a physician ensuring I had the treatment I needed during that long waiting period, the interaction gave the impression that the focus was on ending the conversation quickly. Another unusual aspect of the appointment was that the physician appeared to be recording the visit using a phone transcription tool, and repeatedly looked that everything was being transcribed. At several points it felt as though the concern was more about what was being captured in the transcript rather than ensuring a clear and supportive clinical discussion. He also ended it without consent and adruptly. Given that the conversation was transcribed, I sincerely hope Kaiser Permanente reviews the transcript of that interaction so that the facts of the conversation can be evaluated directly. By the end of the appointment I left feeling confused, dismissed, and genuinely worried about my treatment path. Managing diabetes requires clarity, partnership, and trust between a patient and physician. Instead, the experience felt rushed, inconsistent, and lacking in basic patient-centered care. I’m sharing this publicly because patients deserve better—and because I hope Kaiser takes patient experiences like this seriously and addresses them.

I was eight months pregnant when I was involved in an accident at the pedestrian crossing outside the Kaiser facility. The crosswalk markings were significantly faded, and the layout of the sidewalk created a hazardous condition. The painted crosswalk extends across an uneven step, giving pedestrians the impression that they are stepping onto a flat surface. As a result, my ankle twisted unexpectedly, causing me to fall forward and absorb the full impact to avoid hitting my face on the ground. While I was in visible pain, the staff assisted me; however, it appeared they were unsure how to properly handle the situation. I understand that this facility does not have an Emergency Room, but as a medical office, I expected a clearer emergency response protocol. I felt that I had to actively advocate for myself in order to receive attention and assistance. I was asked to move to a private room (which appeared to be a stock room) due to concerns about visible blood, even though my abrasions were relatively minor. Despite the size of the scrapes, I was experiencing significant body and hand pain from the impact. There were delays in receiving basic first aid supplies, such as gauze to clean my knees, and in contacting security. When we requested documentation of the incident to ensure that corrective action would be taken for public safety, we were told that such documentation was considered a legal matter and would need to be requested through the courts. This response felt unnecessarily defensive. Our primary concern was safety and preventing a similar incident from happening to someone else. To date, we have not received any follow-up communication or update regarding whether the hazardous area has been addressed. The design and maintenance of that crosswalk pose a real safety risk, especially to vulnerable individuals such as pregnant women, seniors, or those with mobility challenges. I strongly urge Kaiser to review and correct this issue promptly. Addressing the uneven step and refreshing the crosswalk markings would help prevent future injuries and demonstrate a commitment to patient and community safety.

Dr. Binh Luu is amazing! He spent time reviewing my MRI Images with me and explaining the findings. He performed a gentle physical exam. Then, he thoroughly explained my treatment options. I’m grateful for his expertise. Clearly, he has honed his doctoring skills over decades and is a master of his craft.

I had a very positive experience with Dr. Chang at Kaiser, Union City, CA. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and took the time to listen to my concerns without rushing. He explained everything clearly and made sure I understood my treatment options. I felt respected, reassured, and confident in the care I received. Thank you for providing such excellent care.

I enjoy being able to schedule a lab appointment time. I was in and out so quickly. Plus during the short wait I suddenly had a video appointment with a doctor who was following up for my doctor from the visit I had with her last week. Dr Singh was on vacation and asked this doctor to see how I was doing. A nurse came into the lab waiting area calling my name to take the call from a portable cart. Apparently there was some kind of flag to connect when I came in. I was shocked and impressed.

Dr. Phan consistently takes action to address my medical needs and concerns, and his responsiveness over email is truly exceptional. I always leave his office feeling reassured, well cared for, and completely at ease. He is a wonderful example of the high-quality care Kaiser strives to provide.

I'm used to the usual questions during the pre-interview before your doctor sees you, do you drink, do you smoke, do you exercise etc etc, but at the end they added a new question, are things in your home okay? Is there anyone that lives through that may hurt you? I appreciate this as abuse behind closed doors is hard to know. Whether it's child abuse or elder abuse or other, the doctors can report it to the authorities.

I think out of all the neighboring KP, the Union city KP is the most efficient when it comes to Optometry and Opthamology. While I find them to always be busy and full of patients, I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes to be called back. The nurses and doctors are quick, and I'm usually in and out within 30 minutes. The receptionists are nice as well and not cranky, so that's a plus. I find my opthamologist to be very attentive to my questions and patient when I need better explanation on what's going on. Though, the waiting room is a bit small for the volume of people they see, I guess I can't tell them they need more chairs since they won't fit anyways!

The staff for TB testing are really nice and quick. Walk in was about a 15 minute wait

That type of care that was provided was Pain Management class the care quality was magnificent the instructors get straight to the point they help you guide you so you can have a nice session and my office experience was great. Staff was alert and ready to go. It's kind of slow today in there Not too busy but new student in the class happy Friday.

My health provider. They have the best of everying. Only 10% of MD that applied for a job in Kaiser get hired

The new medical help is now ZOOM. Doctor refers me to Zoom classes for heart disease ,prediabetes, overweight, and bladder problems. What next? I see empty offices in Union City Kaiser. Yes I have to pay for dermatologist go to Utube for physical therapy. I'm guessing in three years there will be more empty spaces at Kaiser.

Occupational health department is rubbish. I caution any person injured to receive care at this location the doctors do not care about your injuries or health they only care about what will cost workers comp less. They want you back at work ASAP. Physical therapist don't know what they are doing, are inexperience. Please beware.

Today was try to book an appointment, in person , in building B , on the 3rd floor , the the unit assistant was very unhelpful , to see my regular doctor she only gave me 3 choices, and said any thing after 4/22/25 , she couldn't book any thing , I was to to call , but when I called I was on hold for an hour to a telephone computer, and I never got a phone call back , then I was to to email my doctor , but app is not very helpful either, you have to have the top new phone , for the app to work correctly, why is every thing , phone call appointments only , and the time you set , you usually not the time the person calls you back it's like 45 minutes later , people have jobs and lives and kids . we cannot be beneficial on kaisers time for there employees, my time is just as important as there time .

I really like this Kaiser location. It feels more personable than other locations in the Bay Area. Plenty of parking and easy to navigate between buildings A, B, and C. This location has a lot of specialist doctors and they are all amazing. The staff here are always so nice and genuinely always willing to help. Their pharmacy here is huge. There's also optometry. Very clean location. Highly recommend. Cheers!

Please read and share Around late 2018, I seek help from kaiser mental health in union city. I actually had call them and go through a telephone interview first: ***Warning below contains sensitive information regarding sexual assaults and suicided*** After I explain my situation to a Kaiser mental health rep that my sister attempted suicide and that she informed me that she was raped on several occasions. --Kaiser rep next questions was: do you have access or have a gun. I responded 'NO' This occurred five more times, twice by phone, twice by online questioner, and once by in-person. -I had to response NO five times, and each time I had to explain my situation with sister over and over again. There was No empathy, no advance warning(or the reason why) regarding the gun question. Kaiser offered me NO condolence or Advices. I felt so humiliated from my experiences with Kaiser. I absolutely feel that if I was a white woman or man, I would not be treated this way. I absolutely feel if I was a white woman Kaiser would not ask me if I have a gun. I never felt so degraded by any person or entity than Kaiser. I not give up on this as I am thinking going to a news agency next, follow by the better business bureau.

My 700th review goes to the Kaiser Physical Therapy facility here in the Union City medical offices! My primary care is at the San Leandro branch, and when I started having knee and shin problems that would not go away for a couple of months whenever I did squats, I got assigned to Dr Joel Anthony de Guzman at the Union City office. There's plenty of parking spaces, and I've never had trouble navigating to this office. Dr Joel has been absolutely wonderful as a physical therapist, prescribing me different exercises, and monitoring my movements in the exercise space with all the gym equipment. When he was out of town over the holidays, he let me see his colleague, Dr Nam, who is also a very wonderful and caring physical therapist. I started seeing them in early October, and we saw great progress and improvement for the next two months, that around Christmas/New Year's, I was deemed as no longer needing physical therapy. Woohoo! My knee has definitely felt much better, and they have done such a fantastic job taking care of me and prescribing daily exercises for me. Health is DEFINITELY wealth!

Doctors will treat you like a drug seeker even if you have years of medical documentation advising why you need a particular medication. All the doctors at Kaiser adhere to a set of operating procedures that are handed down by a board. Doctors here don't make their own decisions for care but only follow a manuscript of allowable treatments. I am switching to Blue Shield as I'm having to pay out of pocket for a provider who will help me. The Kaiser insurance is useless to me at this point. BEWARE!

** Multiple Reviews ** OPTICAL CENTER: Absolutely wonderful experience in their optical center picking out frames for my new prescription. I was helped by Evelyn who was incredibly sweet, patient, friendly, and knowledgeable. She answered any questions I had and was also very reassuring during the process as I selected the best frames that fit my personal style/complexion/face shape. BLOOD LAB: I had a great experience at this location. You take a number from the machine upon arrival and they'll call your number when ready at the front desk to check you in. After that, your same number will be used to call you back to the lab. I didn't get the name of the woman who drew the blood, but she was so calm, comforting, and kind. I get very anxious with needles as I am very afraid of them and she knew exactly what to say and how to handle the situation. Practically painless besides the very quick pinching feeling as the needle was removed. Great experience! And this is coming from someone who cries at the sight of a needle. BATHROOMS: First floor woman's restroom in building B was very clean and very nicely updated as the sinks and lights are very modern.

This review is for my recent experience with Dr. CHEUNG, WINNIE WING-SHAN. Sad to say this was by far the worst gynecologist appointment I've ever had. I don't usually post reviews but I wanted to encourage everyone to please avoid this doctor. I came in for symptoms I'd had been struggling with. From the start of appointment she displayed a lack of professionalism and concern for any of the symptoms I shared. At one point she had rudely snatched the cloth I placed underneath my leg to further cover my self (before a prep smear was about to be performed) and said "Don't place that underneath you". Not once has this ever been an issue with any other doctor, and if so - there are much better ways to approach this. When obtaining the sample, she openly joked with the nurse beside her about my sample. She continued this even outside of the room right next to the door. Before leaving, I mentioned a small bump I had on the left lower side of my abdomen and asked "Is this normal?" To which she responded: "No magical cream is going to make your stretch marks disappear." I responded by letting her know that I wasn't asking about my stretch marks, I was asking if the bump was normal. She laughed at this and walked towards the door. My whole appointment was only ten minutes. I spent a solid five minutes with this doctor; she rushed through the entire appointment. I left feeling more worse than I had when I came in. This doctor managed to make a patient feel completely downgraded as it took courage to come in and share these symptoms (which I am still struggling with). She proceeded to have an attitude through our entire ten minute long appointment and dismiss any concerns I had. To her, my symptoms were a very funny joke to laugh at. Save yourself the headache and distress and avoid this doctor. I'm sure there are great doctors at this Kaiser location, please opt for them instead. It's also unfortunate to see that others have had the same if not worse interactions with this particular doctor.

Few things since switching care from Fremont to here. This facility by far is the cleanest and friendliest facility I have gone to personally get health care. Every time I go to check in the OBGYN department it is always spotless clean and welcoming. The check in process is smooth, the medical assistants appear to appreciate their job. They are friendly and engaging. I am currently seeing KIM, WAN JOON (M.D.) for all my appts and he has been nothing but great. He answers all my questions and makes me feel comfortable. He is professional and I have had such a great experience with him. I highly recommend him. I do not even think I am empaneled with him but they let me request him every time so I am fortunate for that! Also want to thank Jessica Hernandez ? I think who did my ultrasound at 20 weeks. It was nerve wrecking for me my husband wasn't able to attend, but she gave us great pictures and also made me feel at ease during the procedure. The staff here at Union City really make it worth the drive.

Last time we visited this location was to do a drive thru flu shot. We of course wanted to make sure we were being safe and masked up. We had 3 people in the car needing a shot. So we drove to the facility, and just followed the arrows (they'll show you where to go!). It seemed a bit round-a-bout but I get it as I'm sure they had long lines and we lucked out and there was really only 2-3 cars in front of us. Have your photo ID and membership card ready, they grab it and check you in. Then they provide you with an information card with any shots or check ups you're due for just to remind you. Then you pull up to a station and everyone of course is masked up, make sure you're also masked up and they distribute the shots. Easy peasy and we drove away after they handed us back our cards. Thanks to Kaiser for providing this kind of drive thru flu shot option. It made us feel safe during COVID.

This Kaiser is in Union City - this location is not the closest one to me, but they have more availabilities for doctor appointments, as well as some departments that other locations do not have. There are multiple different buildings here, so make sure you check beforehand where the department for your appointment(s) are, so you are not running back and forth. I have been going here for many years - at least the past 8 years and I never had any major problems here. I usually do not review hospitals because I understand not everything is perfect, but I feel like the problem with this particular experience/visit could had been easily avoided. My mom and I both wasted energy, gas, money, and time coming here - my poor mom was breathless and stressed out having rushing back and forth between two of the buildings, as well as up and down all the stairs. She was just glad that I came with her, or she would had been lost and even more stressed out trying to figure everything out from what was going on to where everything was. On this particular visit, I was accompanying my mom to her doctor appointments. We had about 15 minutes before her appointment when we stopped by one of the front desks for Adult Medicine in Building B to check which floor her appointment/doctor was on, since they had multiple floors for Adult Medicine. We were told by the receptionist that she did not have an appointment here today and that her appointment is at OBGYN in 2 minutes and that we still had time to rush over to the next building over for her appointment in Building A. We rushed over to OBGYN, waited patiently in line just to be told by the receptionist there that my mom's appointment was not today, but at the end of the week. I told her that was what we thought, but the other receptionist in Adult Medicine told us to come over here because my mom had an appointment at OBGYN today. She told us that we did have an appointment at Adult Medicine not OBGYN today, and I let the receptionist know that the other receptionist in Adult Medicine told us we did not and did not give any other information regarding that, so she checked for us and asked if we cancelled the appointment with my mom's primary doctor, which we did not and we were confused on what had happened. We thanked her, since she was helpful, and we decided to go back to Adult Medicine to find out what was going on. The experience/visit at Adult Medicine deserves a 1 star, but the extra star is for the helpful receptionist at OBGYN and the friendly staff at the main front desk, who welcomes you in. We walked back over from Building A to Building B, and the receptionist who helped us earlier was talking to another employee, so we went to the next available staff member next to her. We told him what happened - that we were sent over to OBGYN by the other receptionist when she should had told us our appointment was not today, but at the end of the week and that she did not even mention that our appointment at their department - Adult Medicine was cancelled, but in fact we were told this information by another department that it was cancelled. He informed us at this time that the doctor called in sick - I asked him if there are any way to see any other doctor today, to which he responded that they were all booked. As a working student, I usually have to take time off in advance to accompany my mom to her appointments and she is still working, so she had to use her vacation time and request for her days off in advance as well. It is very inconvenient for us and many others that this may happen to as well, especially since we did not even get any sort of courtesy notification from a simple email, phone call, or text (or even telling us the first time we came around to their counter, but instead we were sent on our way to another department where we did not even have an appointment for at that time). He informed us that she called in less than 10 minutes ago and our appointment was supposed to be in 10 - 15 minutes. No apologies or even any sympathy, especially for those patients who have to make special accommodations to come here for their appointment and on top of that, we had to wake up early to drive 30 minutes in traffic to come here. Such unacceptable and unprofessional behavior.

went to NP Elizabeth Smith for what I know now as small seizures with headaches . She told me I didn't know how to breathe and sent a referral to psych. After going week after to week to Smith I finally switched to Dr Christina Wu , who was no better. I continued to go week after week with the same symptoms, text book symptoms of small seizures. In my last appointment with her, She condescendingly asked if I wanted her to consult with a neurologist. After she spoke to the neurologist over the phone and the neurologist said if it would make me feel better to have the MRI then I could go but that they didnt feel it was necessary. They made me feel Like I was being a bother and that I was wasting their time, so I left. The next week I had a grand mal seizure, in the ER and they found a brain tumor the size of a baseball. After I was discharged, Christina Wu called me to apologize for not taking me seriously and doing what she should have done. Both of these woman still work for Kaiser and are allowed to have patients and this is after I've reached out to member services . Stay away from Dr Wu and NP smith!

I would give zero stars if I could.im speaking in behalf of my mom's healthcare. Recently noticed how badly my mom's health kept getting worse granted she is getting older nearing 67. Her diabetes had been poorly managed forever ten years and the data in her test results showedit. I went to advocate for her due to language language barriers etc. She had not received any medication to bring her aic or glucose down even though she did her best by excising five days . Long story short. Doctor Preeti Sharma told me that her diabetes was managed very well as her test results showed her at 6.4 and her fasting glucose at 137 . I asked why can't she be put on meds atleast some metformin. She if eomws me that they only use medication for diabetes at 8.0 . I told her that they were literally making her sick for over ten years. She has numerous health issues related to diabetes. She laughed at me and claimed she could not handle insulin. I had the same issue few years back and was able to bring it down with medication to norm.al levels. I was furious and told her I was done with her and we were going to need a new doctor. Apparently, I have been doing my best to explain and reach out for multiple weeks to other doctors for a second opinion. Either our appointments get cancelled or never doni get a written response back. I'm going on week three . I will have to see what will happen to my mom's health on our next appointment.i am so worried now. It feels literally like a gamble. I don't know why it is so damn complicated to take care of a simple diabetes diagnosis. These doctors are are either following a script or just overwhelmed. I have no idea. I am worried as hell about my mother. I will have to keep trying for her sake until I figure out plan b. Wish be luck . So far , I do not know where to go about even gaining support to complain for this situation file for grievance for a resolution.

My vision appointment and glasses fitting went really well. I've never worn glasses in my life but the experience was easy, educational and seamless. Theresa was really great and I appreciated her kindness to walk me through everything.

End of year 2022 update. Great speedy services for eye exams they are done rather quick. Building B actually has a cafeteria here like San Leandro does although not as spacious, but still they serve the same things as the San Leandro one does. Classic Cheeseburger $6.50 - Vending machines on site which takes credit cards for snacks - they authorize your card for $5 which drops off within a couple of days and the final amount settles.

If I can give zero stars I would, the phone clerk answering our call was professional until the end. Lady didn't give her name in the first place and then was laughing so unprofessional after making our appointment for an eye issue and after asking her was so funny she became quite and I said this isn't a laughing matter and she said oh gosh, yeah poor customer service I don't care if your on strike that kind of service shouldn't fly when it's a serious matter awful girl awful service RETRAIN YOUR STAFF ABOUT PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT!! And maybe hang up the phone before you laugh, cause bad timing leaves a sourness in your mouth.

I went to the Optometrist Department to get testing done. The Indian clerk Kanagalligam Kumuthini asked me if I was coming from Oakland for my testing. As a 59 year old Africa American, I felt that question was irrelevant and rude and a slight discriminating. I've lived in Hayward since 1980. My chart has my current address. My primary is Dr. Cualoping, whom I love dearly, and all of my services are at Union City. Why would she ask me that? If I were Asian, white, Indian, or Latina, would she have asked that same question? I'm not making this bigger than it is, but I felt very uncomfortable with her asking that question. Kaiser, please talk to this clerk regarding this matter!!! It definitely makes you wonder, like, why would she ask that? Every African American is not from Oakland!!!

Optometry is a separate operation than KP Vision Essentials which is in the same building. had i know sooner, i wouldn't have joined KP advantage Plus which lists optometry as an extra. optometry is part of the regular KP. Vision Essentials is extra, making the eyeware. Optometry department is one of the better runned offices, 3 check in associates.

Dr. Hazra absolutely horrible didn't even take a full 6 minutes of an actual check up with me . After explaining my reason for the visit she was going to have me walk all across the hospital building while I had mentioned my lower back pain .. Dr. Hazra did NOT even offer any type of help or asked if I could walk by myself ok. Which due to my lower back pain at the moment it restrains me from doing certain things .I just wanted to find me a good Dr but with so many bad reviews I should've known better. I walked in with hopes of her helping me but she didn't. Now I'm trying to switch my work benefits medical coverage packet that I got so I can have something else besides Kiser Permanent The doctors here don't care about YOU they show NO empathy for your situation at least from my personal experience and from previous reviews I've read. Horrible experience.. sure they have a couple of good doctors but in my personal opinion I'm just saying skip Dr. HAZAR save your self the time and trouble.

I've never had such lousy, miserable service from any company in my 40 years of life. I've had better service from overseas scam callers. 90% of my time is wasted being pushed from one place to another, waiting on hold, or waiting for a response via secure messaging, if I get a response at all. Type in Kaiser on Yelp, and you'll find 95% of their locations are rated between 1-2 stars. They have most definitely earned this abysmal reputation and quality of service. If you hate someone, like, really really hate someone, sign them up with Kaiser.

Unlimited Accupuncture groups is why I am here. The doctors are super attentive, kind and accommodating to the groups. They make sure you are very comfortable, whether it's a foot stool, extra pillow, water or a cough drop.... they want to make sure your Accupuncture session is relaxing and enjoyable.

Always the RUDEST Lab employees. Every. Single. Time. From the front desk to the phlebotomists in the back. Always rude and condescending.

No one was at reception desk. People kept walking by no may I help you. No she will be back soon. No hello be right with you nothing. Rude!

Everyone here went from lazy to a sloth. You want to make an appointment? They'll tell you to call a number, then those people on the line tell you to bug the receptionist. You're running a little late since this is the nearest location to offer certain services, but you manage to check in before the 14 minute mark? You're going to have to reschedule. The service here isn't anything like a hospital. Kaiser has become another corporation. The quacks there will constantly harass you to get a seasonal flu shot, too. How about you mind your damn business Maria and Karen-putting my personal records out there like that

I've been going to Physical Therapy for pain and I've been paying at the front desk $20.00 each time thinking I don't have to worry about any other payments. Now after about 8-12 sessions of paying $20 each time, I'm surprised with a $400+ bill totalled from each of this Physical Therapy sessions. Front desk hasn't told me once that I owe anything or will be charged anything additional. This place was already a shitty place to go to for health care, now I have to worry about a secret bill of $427. Ridiculous. After two years of lily-padding from HMOs to PPOs to LMAOs, I have finally found my way home to Kaiser Permanente. After signing up through my employer, I was so glad to find out I could see my old physician from way back when. This place looks a little different than I remember! The parking spaces have overhangs now (did they always have those? I don't think so). The stand-up coffee shop is gone; it was replaced by a Christmas tree. Nice touch, but could use more caffeine. Lucky for me, my doctor still works in the same building, so I had no trouble getting to my appointment, and the check-in process was seamless. When inside, I found that the exam rooms might do well for a bit of upkeep -- maybe it's just the lighting. But enough of me being particular; I had an awesome, sentimental appointment with my physician. As it was a physical exam, and the only one I'll get to have for a nice long while (there are no Kaisers in Arizona), we got some blood work ordered, so I went to Building A to get that done. The laboratory was nice and empty, and getting my blood drawn was a breeze! Results pending. For me, especially now that I'm just a visitor to the Bay Area, I've got no complaints about this Kaiser. I'm sure for regulars, this place is a nightmare to get to and leave from, especially during rush hour. Yes, the Bay Area traffic is awful. But schedule your day carefully, get here with plenty of time to spare, and enjoy the quality health service this Kaiser and its staff has to offer. Cheers to good health! Until next time.

This used to be Kaiser I frequented as my PRP, Dr Choi and Nurse Practioner, Beth Tinder were at this location but since Dr Choi moved to San Leandro I had to follow as she's the best! And sadly but good for NP Tinder she retired 3 yrs ago so I come here mainly for lab work, optometry (Dr Vicki Hughes) and pharmacy pick ups...convenient, plenty of parking with Farmers Market Tuesday's

I absolutely adore this medical facility I will truly miss them provided that I moved further away and when I have to change my provider. They offer an array of unconventional treatment modalities such as acupuncture as well as referrals to other holistic services in the community.

Post-COVID experience here was pleasant. Had to come in for a TB test (and then back again 48-72 hr later to get it checked) and noticed most of the entrances were blocked off. The one that was open had a station set up in front where the employees enforce face masks upon entering, take your temperature, and have you wash your hands at the portable sinks. The kind you have to pump the water out with a foot pedal, so it's hands-free. There were plexiglass dividers on the receptionist desks and most of the seats in the waiting areas were blocked off. I definitely felt safer with all the proper precautions they took.

Flu shot month - BOO! We come here every year to get our flu shots and it can get really packed. I suggest coming after 3pm to avoid long lines because people tend to come earlier in the morning especially during weekends. I'm terrified of needles but the nurses and the staff were constantly talking to me and one nurse even danced to distract me, haha! It went by super fast with no problem at all. My bf also comes here for his doctors appointment and it has always been empty around 4pm and everything is clean and tidy.

Chris in the Optical Department is awesome! He really takes the time to explain your plan to you and help you pick out frames that accentuate your face. Highly recommend!

i saw jodie duncan today nurse practioner. i give her 5 plus 5 more stars. she was simply amazing and kind and professional and smart. she answered all my questions and made me feel at ease. my primary was book so i saw np duncan. ive always had a wonderful professional experience with kaiser. i thank them so much for always being there for my health needs. kp union city you guys rock! i love san leandro kp as well but union city is close to where i live in hayward. 5 thats amazing for a jersey girl to give you 5 stars! you guys must really rock!!

Kaiser really has been going to town on phone calls lately - and its borderline harassment. A phone call for a flu shot. Then a phone call for sleep clinics. And on and on. I don't mind if you e mail me stuff as I can have it go straight to the spam folder but don't call me unless its a life and death situation. Kaiser needs to hire a communication specialist. Sometimes a phone call is appropriate if its time sensitive. Sometimes a text works... and other times an e mail is most appropriate. Perhaps tech workers and engineers are the same ones to create and implement communication policies. The real kicker is that they call you half the time from phone numbers that you can't call back on - a strange one way communication that probably mitigates their own personal liability but makes things worse and more dangerous for the patient. Carnival Cruise lines recently had a settlement for $300 per harassing phone call. IMHO I feel Kaiser is more aggressive with unwanted marketing efforts than Carnival ever was. Pushing their sleep clinics for extra profit like a used car salesman would push rust proofing or extra unnecessary warranties.

Primary care and optometry departments are wonderful and deserve their own review, but this one is specifically just optical sales. Do not purchase eyeglass frames here. Don't even bother walking in to the department. Falling behind with their orders is one thing but they absolutely fail at communicating with their customers. They never notify me about the status of my prescription glasses and I always find myself having to inquire about my order. Moreover, whenever I call, I tend to discover that nobody has even processed my order. What the hell?! If there is confusion about my order, call me! If you are unsure about a pair of glasses I purchased, call me! If for any reason, there is some event that delays my order, I freakin' implore you to give me a call! You at least owe me that. Plus, it's better than just hoping that the customer doesn't notice and that the problem just disappears.

Kaiser service is very poor at this point it, not what it use to be , to book an appointment I have book and wait , for three weeks to see a doctor, which is ridiculous , I was told to call every day to see if any canceled there appointment, a waste of my time , then I finally go to my appointment time which was 1:30 pm waiting for a UA to come back from lunch , so there was no UA at all , I had to lose my places in line , to go to another line in another department to see that UA , this is unacceptable , it was like a 35 minute wait just to get in , only reason I keep going here is my doctors they are nice and very caring. ,

I'm really disappointed with the service today in the Child Psychiatry Department. I called for help with my daughter, but instead I was treated by the Psychiatrist on call (Michael B) with no respect to my situation. He talked very fast and defensively. I felt very condescended to with no bedside manner. My daughter's medical doctor said they were aiming to be like Nordstrom, fat chance! They have a long way to go. I work at Nordstrom & I may not have a fancy degree on the wall, but I know how to treat people. I'm writing because this isn't the first time I've had a problem there. They are getting 2 stars bc my son's doctor (Seth) was very good. He listens and doesn't shift blame to you when the child is having issues. He has a bedside manner that other doctors should learn from. I'm going to look for help elsewhere.

I've never been one to go to the doctor or get checked. I recently went through some terrifying things in my life. But my doctors and friendly staff at Kaiser Permanente got me through. In this season of my life, I can honestly say that I made it through a lot of scary stuff. And it was all because of the help of my doctors and staff. I love this medical center. But, I love my doctors even more! My doctors are more than kind, they're considering, and care about me as an individual and do not look at me as just a patient, or a number, but as a person, like a family member. There are times I've been afraid, and my primary care physician has always been there to reassure me that everything is going to be okay. I personally want to thank Dr. Mark Warner, Dr. Deshpande, RN, Karen Forte, Alicia Yenny, Dr. Nandamuri, Andrea Limb, PT, Norman Yamada, the optical team Dr. Sally Lin. And many others that are part of my medical team. Karen, you are my angel. Thank you for the countless phone calls. thank you for always being there. And to you Dr. Warner, thank you for always checking in on me to make sure that I mentally stable. You all are so great! Thank you, Kaiser team for being so wonderful!

This review is specifically for the OBGYN Midwife department! I recently gave birth to my beautiful son & I had the pleasure of having Mary Ann Bloyer, certified nurse midwife, help me in clinic as well as deliver him at the San Leandro location. She was awesome from start to finish. So sweet, accommodating, thorough and most importantly made me & my hubby feel safe and well cared for. Nurse Tina (sorry didn't catch her last name!) Was also so great! Hopeful with my next pregnancy I'm able to work with Mary Ann again! So grateful & highly recommended!

I like this Kaiser. Its a low profile location. So its not as busy as other Kaiser locations. The Lab and the Pharmacy is pretty efficient.. My Doctor has her office there. Plenty of Whip parking..

This message is about Dr. Shuja Jafar-Ali from the Adult Mental Health department. Dr. Jafar-Ali continuously spoke condescendingly and disrespectfully for almost the 2 years I had him as my psychiatrist. This last interaction I had with him was the last straw. I spoke to him on the phone a few weeks ago because he called me multiple times in one day to speak to me about an email I sent him that same day, which was a request for an ADHD evaluation. He asked me if my mental health was stable, I said yes. He asks me to do a drug test that day, I say no because I have classwork as I am in college and it was finals week. I also live approximately 30 minutes away from Kaiser Union City and don't have a car so I have to depend on my family for rides. He asks if I can come in the next day and I tell him again that I have big workload with college finals until the end of May, even giving him the exact date my finals end. He immediately starts to complain and taunt me, telling me it'll only take 1 minute, so, again, I explain to him that it's finals week for me so I unfortunately can't. He IMMEDIATELY accuses me of being a drug addict and says that I don't want to take the test because I'm on drugs. Mind you, he never even mentioned that that was the reason for the urine test until after accusing me of such. I assumed the test was to check if I was taking my medication. I then ask for him to give me a different psychiatrist after this call because I was horrified with his attitude. Before he hangs up without notice, he yells at me and says he will leave a note for my next psychiatrist that says I didn't want to take the test because of drugs, which was not true whatsoever. After our call, I find out Dr. Jafar-Ali created a fake phone call appointment made on a date and time that we never spoke on. He also left an after visit note after our call saying that I was the one that accused him of calling me an addict. So, at this point he is lying about the interaction we had on the phone, about the date and time that he had called me, and about the reason as to why I couldn't make it to a urine test appointment. This man is a liar who does not have one ounce of compassion when it comes to his patients. He should not be able to work at Kaiser Union City, especially within the mental health department, as he will lie behind a patient's back and speak down to them as if they are unworthy of his presence. According to Google, I am not the first patient of his that has been verbally attacked as well as called a drug addict for no reason. If you are searching for a psychiatrist at Kaiser Union City, I urge you to stay far away from Dr. Jafar-Ali.

Garbage service. Doctors don't care about your health. If you're sick and make an appointment to see one of their doctors and the doctors don't care enough to really evaluate your condition and all they say (you're fine go home) really shows their lack of interest on their patience.

Went to this Kaiser for a lab draw that was ordered for my mom after her discharge. There was a miscommunication with whether this was a stat lab draw or routine. For those who are doing routine lab draws, this is the location but if you need a stat lab draw you need to go to the Hayward Kaiser. We needed to check my mother's labs (I'll spare you the shop talk) to see if she can continue a certain medication she had. The order was put in by the receptionist but a ball was dropped with it being a stat draw. Lab called the receptionist and referred us to my Mom's doctor. We went up the second floor to see her and had to write messages on a clipboard which her receptionist passed along to her. We waited a few minutes because there were other patients there but I'll have to give Doctor Agleham props for coming out to talk to us. Being the overbearing daughters that we were, the doctor listened to our concerns about the labs and she said she would have it expedited. I appreciate her coming out to talk to us, it's not often that I meet many doctors who will take the time to talk to family. 1 star less was because of the mishap. Actually I would still rate it at 4.85 because it's human error and that happens on occasion. At least my sister and I were there to check my mom's discharge instructions. This particular facility is busy, yet fairly effiicient. Just don't forget to grab a ticket, watch for your number to be called, and be there early.
