Takuto

We went there because it was recommended by Timeout but I had to say it was a let down. We went at around 18:30 and there were two chefs in total and one of them is completely new I think? We ordered a tofu salad(€8) which was made by him but he seemed not to have an idea of what he was doing and kept asking the other sushi chef what sauce goes in there. At one point the sushi chef was scrolling his phone screen and cutting fish right after without washing his hands… We ordered a chirashi bow, the quality of seafood was good but it was covered in a bunch of colourful sauces, and I feel like I was eating an overpriced poke. At one point the two chefs, one waitress and the manager (I think?) were all standing behind the sushi counter and chatting. After we finished our mains the waitress kept coming back to us seemed want to clean the table. So we left. We spent around €120. I’m sorry to say this but this experience was nothing but a disappointment.

Such a hidden treasure! It’s so hard to find truly fresh and delicious sushi in Paris, but Takuto absolutely delivers 🍣. The quality of the ingredients is outstanding - every bite feels like a treat. The experience is authentic and memorable. Just a heads up: the place is tiny and super popular, so make sure to book a table in advance. Totally worth it!

A tiny sushi spot with great quality products. Very good rice, seaweed salad, and chirashi bowls. Even the desserts are excellent.

My favorite casual sushi bar in Paris. The rice is exceptional and the weekly specials are prepared with attention to detail and plated beautifully. Service is extremely friendly.

The finger sushi rolls were phenomenal. The texture, flavor, and presentation were splendid. The rolls are made at the bar, visible and quickly! The price point for the roll combos was fair, though ordering each individual roll can be a pricey endeavor. The service was on the poor side but the food quality more than makes up for it.

I wouldn’t have done this review if the chef/owner was not an ex Michelin star (Jin, see review) and now at the Cheval Blanc. My background is that I’ve tried every Michelin star in Paris several times (and when I say Every single one of them, I say every, not a lot, most or a bunch) and every 3 Stars in France, and a lot more. You can follow me for all the reviews and updates. The fact: We ordered a delivery on a Sunday afternoon with vegetables, omelets, sushi and a dessert. The analysis: The usage of the vinagar was not appropriate in every dishes. Especially in the rice for the sushi, but also with the vegetables. Something may have been very wrong with it. It made the all order not enjoyable at all (and I’m trying to be nice) and stressed unpleasant flavors. I really think a better management of the acidity, in that case the vinegar could transform the experience, especially for this price point. The marketing stresses the link with the Michelin Star chef but I can assure you that what we had was very far from a Michelin Star level, and even a Michelin guide entry. It was below the level of your local sushi at the corner of the street (and way more expensive). It may be an irregularity, but what you want at this level (and price point) is regularity because you want to be sure you’ll have a good meal. We had something inedible. I hope this review will be taken as a feedback for improvement.

Possibly my favorite meal of our entire week in Paris. Warm & welcoming service — the staff saw us outside getting snowed on and invited us in from the cold, even though they weren’t even open yet. Fresh ingredients, perfectly crispy roasted nori, and interesting specials (including a fun tuna + white truffle nigiri). What a lovely break from all the classic French fare. Highly recommend!

Ordered the toro chirashi, quite the flavour I wanted. Service was really nice, and staff goes through the menu patiently and thoroughly. Slightly on the expensive side given the portion but I think it’s still worth it!
