Seattle’s Hottest New Bars, Summer 2024

"Spot the water buffalo statue, and you’ll know you’re in the right place. Kalabaw is the newest hotspot for cocktails and small bites in Belltown, offering a harmonious blend of American, Thai, Filipino, and a well-selected range of other Southeast Asian flavors. There’s a ton of flavor (and Instagram-friendly color) here to choose from, but try the house Old Fashioned if you’re unsure where to begin. Toasted rice syrup adds a unique twist to the classic cocktail and it’s quite frankly divine." - Brianna Gunter

Okay, but no dishes were mindblowing, and several were underwhelming. The space is bright and sterile, and the service was very slow and curt. The Phnom Penh octopus was overcooked and way smaller and less appealing than the menu photo. The Tom Yom soup was non-traditional, in that it was over spiced. The Kalabaw noodles were good, nothing exceptional, but tasty and the chicken on the noodles was tender and well-prepared. I asked for a 3 spice level, but the dish came out not spicy at all. The chicken lettuce wraps were good. We were most impressed with the pad Thai — again, a slightly untraditional flavour, sweeter than I’m used to, but a good balance of the umami flavour and the sweetness. The crab fried rice was good. It took over and hour to get our food, and several appetizers came out later than the mains. The space was empty — we made a reservation for 8 for Friday night dinner, but there was plenty of seating available.

Most dishes were good, with great ambience but bad experience with service. Moody lighting, plush seating and good music. The Ube drink was so good, we were thinking of coming here regularly. The turmeric cauliflower, vegan noodles, papaya salad, sticky rice and kalabaw wings were awesome. The gyoza, mushrooms, chives cakes and pad kee mao were really bad. The Sentosa wings were flavorful but the wings were strangely thin and had no meat (I've eaten homegrown chicken that is understandably smaller... And this was not that). However, the service was awful and left us feeling super uncomfortable: - When we entered we requested shifting tables to a comfier non-high top table near the front since the restaurant was empty anyway, we got pushback from the host because our new table was bigger for all the dishes. The host was a little short with us, but we decided to let it be. - Ordering food and drinks went okay, but between receiving apps and our entree, we waited a long time, to the point we were hungry and had run out of water. - We tried to catch the eye of the person assigned to our table, but multiple times they saw us trying to get their attention, looked away and helped the two other tables in the restaurant. I gave up 5min later and tried to raise my hand in hopes it caught someone's eye. Another 5min, and the same behavior from different staff members. Our waiter served water to all other tables in the restaurant except ours during this time We finally had to ask a waiter not assigned to us to refill our waters. There was no obvious place to self serve water, so it did not feel right that we had to put in this much effort to get a glass of water. After all this, we were told the entrees would take 15-20min to make - 15min after we had ordered in an empty restaurant that doesn't have many doordash orders as far as we could tell. We have no idea whether this was just inexperienced staff, but this experience was not okay. - The papaya salad was marked vegetarian but definitely smelled of fish sauce. It was tasty but we had ordered this specifically because we had vegetarians in our group. I would not trust this restaurant's allergen and food group markings on the menu.

I can't say enough good things about this place. You won't find the same Thai options anywhere else in Seattle because Kalabaw specializes in Thai food outside of the standard Central Thai curries. This makes sense because it's run and owned by Chef Supanut, previously at Secret Savory in Ballard. The best thing is that the menu draws from across SE Asia. Filipino, Thai, Laotian, Cambodian, and Burmese are featured heavily since there's similar flavors in all of them. Everything here is good, but spiced slightly different from the stereotypical Thai dishes. Take a risk and order something new! We got the Shan curry, Tom Yum soup, pulled pork burger, and Halo Halo for dessert. Everything was flavorful, presented nicely, and reasonably priced given the location and niche. One good thing on the menu is that the spicy basil chicken actually comes with a fried egg, as the dish calls for, without having to pay an extra $4.50 the way a lot of Thai places started doing. Atmosphere and service were both pleasant. Will definitely be back.

I had the Kalabaw Curry Bowl and Kalabaw Noodles with tofu, and also tried the Ube Milk Punch — everything was absolutely delicious! Each dish was packed with flavor and perfectly balanced. The curry was rich and comforting, the noodles had great texture, and the tofu was cooked just right. The Ube Milk Punch was a fun, flavorful drink that tied it all together. Highly recommend!

The fries, wings (wet and dry), the crab fried rice, and lobster roll were all delicious. The flavor profiles are well balanced. The restaurant itself was a little warm. Service comes as it is made, not all at once .

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality by the hostess. The service was great and the atmosphere was lively while giving space for my partner and I to just enjoy conversation. The pacing between meals was perfect as well! We ordered a Thai Iced Tea and another drink that I can’t remember the name of (it had pandan and candied galangan in it and was absolutely phenomenal), the Kalabaw Bibb Lettuce Wraps and Bangkok Chives Cake as shareables, and the Asian Lobster roll and Chiang Tung Khao Soi as entrees. For dessert, we ordered the Ube Sticky Rice, Sweet Mango, and Vanilla Ice Cream. The drinks were refreshing, the appetizers were flavorful and really opened us up, the entrees were nuanced and rich in flavor, and the dessert was the perfect way to wrap up the entire experience. The perfect amount of sweetness and texture while also very being flavorful. All in all, a great Southeast Asian restaurant that we just happened to stroll into. Definitely coming back!

As an Asian food lover, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try a variety of Asian dishes. The food here is incredibly creative and unique—it's not something you can find at other Asian restaurants in the area. I also really appreciate the excellent service as well. Though I usually avoid downtown because of the traffic, parking here is surprisingly easy to find, which makes it worth the visit. It’s a special spot for a memorable dinner. P.S. The buffalo out front adds a unique touch to this place!! You may get luck from it. :)

Google
Honestly, food was 11/10, and the wings were delicious. The noodles crazy good. I've been to a few Asian countries. Noodles were top 5 for sure. I got it without the nuts. Perfection 👌🏽

Yelp
Finally got a chance to check this gem of a unique restaurant out. I've been waiting for a multi cuisine restaurant that can do justice to Singaporean, Malaysian, Burmese, Thai and Indonesian cuisines to open up and this one came as close to perfect as one can expect. They have reservations available online as well! I tried their corn avocado salad, pad thai and their coconut corn tapioca pudding. Everything on the menu looked great and tasted even better. Service was super quick and the ambiance was beautiful. Highly recommend this new restaurant on the block!

Yelp
Good: A glass of champagne as a welcome drink was a night thought. The Chicken lettuce wraps were amazing! The cauli shareable was OK but the sauce it came with elevated the taste. Manager at the front was very accommodating. Meh: Cocktails were not bad; my wife's lychee based cocktail was good while my Kalabaw old fashioned was OK. Bad: we had our Valentine's Day dinner and started at about 6.30pm ish and the place filled up in no time. Service has a lot to be desired. There would be pockets of time where I felt like they completely forgot our table. We ordered an entree which took forever to come and finally after 30 mins, we just requested them to pack it up to-go. Our first table was near the doors and we couldn't stand the cold draft that kept creeping in when someone entered the door; so we decided to take one of the smaller tables on the side which ended up being even more uncomfortable for me (5'11" for context). Silverware was not entirely clean. Growing pains is how I would term my experience here.

Yelp
A group of friends and I came for happy hour. Between the 5 of us we ordered 5 dishes. My favorite dish was the chicken wings followed by the Cauliflower. I think the presentation of the dishes were great and the ambience is nice but the flavors could've been stronger for example the wings could've been slightly more spicy. Thai food is supposed to be more "pungent" with fish sauce, Thai basil, garlic, Thai chilies as a few of the key ingredients but the dishes were mild. Maybe there's the audience that theyre going for though. The one dish I probably wouldn't get again is the lychee dip - it wasn't that spicy and I couldn't taste too much lychee. Overall, good for groups and the happy hour pieces are fair so I can't complain! The lychee mule was pretty tasty.

Yelp
Celebrated my birthday lunch here and it was good. Inside esthetics is nice and modern feeling, good place to host for an occasion. Food prices are pretty decent and they have happy hour everyday. Very good service and I liked how they incorporated different asian dishes from all over Southeast Asia.

Yelp
We just had dinner here. It was SO good!! I had the crab cakes - highly recommend. I also tried the Ube Milk Punch drink. It was 10/10, too! My family had the wet wings, Kalabaw noodles, and Tom yum soup. Everyone loved their meals. The service was excellent and the atmosphere is beautiful. This would be a perfect spot for a big party. A+++

Yelp
Dropped by for dessert (halo halo) and cocktails. The art deco decoration is unique and cool in seattle. Perfect date spot. The dessert and drinks were delicious. The Uber milk punch was unique and delicious. It had a perfect circular one piece of ice inside. I will definitely come by for dinner. The space is large and it wasn't too busy on Thursday nite so it will be a good space for a large group.

Yelp
We went on a Saturday night around 8:30 PM, place was pretty empty, which was weird, it was cold inside likely because the place wasn't very full, however, let me tell you, the six of us enjoy EVERY SINGLE SIP and BITE of everything we ordered. The cocktails are outstanding and very creative. We ordered the Uber milk drink, the spicy margarita, reclining Buddha, pad, Thai, Tommy, Yum soup, corn, and avocado salad, mushrooms, cauliflower, crab, and combo noodles. The portions are huge an even though I was hungry. We all took leftovers home. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to ensure everything was to our liking. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Came here for a no-frills Valentine's Day & honestly it exceeded my expectations. We got the Kalabaw burger and chicken pad see ew. I probably would've upped the spice level on the pad see ew but we were told it was "mild" as is. The burger was very delicious. We didn't love the salad but the fries were nice and crunchy. The lychee mule was also great & we enjoyed the Bellini. The kalabaw wings were surprisingly tasty too! (More like a chicken tender softened to it).

Yelp
One of the newer restaurants in Belltown, this one stands out as a hot and new restaurant in my books. I went here around 10:30pm for late night, which is good since they have happy hour daily from 10pm to close, on top of 4-6pm (except Sunday which is all day). There is currently a promotion in June for pride, so we opted to get charged regular pricing of items from the HH menu, since the promotion is buy 2 appetizers OR 1 entree and get a free drink (including cocktails on that list, which ranges $16-18), and happy hour is only a few dollars off the regular price. So effectively, you just "pay" $5-6 for a cocktail which is a good price. For cocktails, we got: - The ABG - apple, blueberry, gin. Sweet and intoxicating just like the real deal. - Singapore Sling - tropical vibes from the pineapple, fairly strong - Chiang Mai Shuffle - blue drink, very herby For food, we got: - Kalabaw Wings - fried wings garnished with lemongrass, my favorite herb, served with coconut galangal sauce. I love that this place serves galangal since it is not that widely found around here. - Chives Cake - love the chewiness to this dish, along with the chili sweet ginger soy sauce - Ginger Truffle Fries - nothing special but still delicious, good to fill up a meal - Papaya Salad - also nothing out of the ordinary but prepared freshly and still very delicious - Chicken Kalabaw Noodles - lots of mushrooms with chicken in the noodles, and the noodles are cooked fairly al dente and soaks up the soy sauce. Service was good as water refills are present (though usually on request), and food is brought out in a timely manner. Also, the host was willing to accommodate us in the dining room table adjacent to the bar, since they initially said to sit at the bar since dining room is closed at that hour, but the bar was full. This just implies they want to serve people in one area of the restaurant since they are closing soon for the day, and I am glad they gave us that flexibility.

Yelp
Attended this new restaurant in Belltown for their grand opening. We enjoyed happy hour items along with a couple of things from the main menu. Of all the items we ordered, the standouts for me were the turmeric golden cauliflower and the Hung Lae Curry with flavorful, fork tender pork belly, which comes with either jasmine rice or roti. We opted for the roti since we were also ordering the crab fried rice. Because I'm developing my spice level, we ordered everything 3 stars. Either I'm tolerating more heat or it didn't taste 3 star spicy to me. We topped off our meal with the mango sticky rice. We were given cute and tiny spoons to enjoy our dessert, but it was not conducive to eating the mango pieces nor did it prevent us from finishing our dessert. I was going to ask for a fork, but we were deep into it by then. Service was very friendly and attentive. Kalabaw is a nice addition to the Belltown neighborhood.

Yelp
Came for a company dinner. The interior decoration of the spot was very cute and it was definitely giving date spot vibes. They have quite an extensive menu, and I decided on the Kalabaw Noodles and the Ube Milk Punch. The drink was 10/10, it was sweet but not too sweet and the ube flavor was addicting and refreshing. The noodles were good, but oversauced and a little on the salty side. Loved the tofu though. My biggest gripe with this spot was how incredibly slow the service was. I would say we waited about an hour for our food to come out, despite the restaurant not being very crowded. It was pretty hard to flag down the waiters, and an order of fried rice was forgotten. Our server was super friendly though, and very patient with our big group. Perhaps they were understaffed, but I was quite disappointed with the service we received. Had it not been for that, I would've considered coming back!

Yelp
The only item on this menu we liked was the lettuce bites. The legs took way too long to get to us and by the time they did the cheese was cold and hard, very disappointing. The roti pancakes were also very hard to eat and were nothing special.

Yelp
Hi, just asking if you can please tell the people who have a 7:00pm reservation on 3/7 if they can please change the phone number. They've been using it for years and I'm tired of it. I don't know how else to get them to stop. Apologies, you probably have great food but I've never been. 5 stars for the trouble.

Yelp
Kalabaw is a new restaurant that just opened today in Belltown, and it's a sister restaurant to Secret Savory in Ballard. I like soft openings and heard about it just yesterday, both in a community Discord and a foodies Facebook group. Coming in, the place looks really nice. Highlight in terms of appearance is probably the bar area. We talked to three different people (based on mannerisms I want to say two owners + our waiter) on what they recommended. All 3 said the Kalabaw Wings, 2 said Papaya Salad, 1 said Chives Cake, 1 said Kor-lae Chicken, and 1 said Kalabaw Bibb Lettuce Wraps. We ended up getting 2 orders of the wings (happy hour), the chives cake (happy hour), and the chicken. For dessert, we got the Taro Ball with Coconut Ice Cream. We loved the wings. The batter was crispy. The meat was also flavorful. The sauce was delicious. We wished there was a little more sauce, however. We both thought two orders might've been too much however. The chives cake was delicious. We finished that dish the fastest. My friend really liked the ginger chili soy sauce. The chicken was also really good. The marinade was tasty. Don't think the sweet chili sauce paired well with it so we just used a little bit of it on the veggies. The taro balls were also delicious. The taro balls were warm and the ice cream on top cooled it down a little bit. It was just subtly sweet making it easy to finish. I'm a huge fan of both taro and coconut so I loved the combination. They have a second floor that wasn't ready yet, but I was told that it'll eventually be a party room for group sizes up to 20 people. - Edited to remove hours since Yelp page updated.

Yelp
I came by to try this spot for brunch and I enjoyed the interior decor. My friend and I split the ginger truffles fries, papaya salad and the crispy chicken. Over the food was pretty decent but the fries tasted nothing like truffle. I would come back for happy hour or for a drink.

Yelp
The happy hour deals were good! Lots of options for food, especially for vegetarians or folks with other dietary restrictions. I didn't really see too much for vegans but perhaps you have to ask. The lumpiang and chive cakes were great starters and the Thai iced tea and coffee were both really well done. I'd give their cocktails a try next time, but wasn't feeling up to drinking with the heat. The crab fried rice was really good, especially with the spicy sauce! My partner liked their chicken a lot too. The portions are generous so we both also ended up with leftovers. The servers were attentive and kept waters full. The ambiance gave off kind of a great gatsby vibe, which was not what I would expect, but they're making it work with the Asian fusion modern approach. We would come back here again!

Yelp
on a 90 degree plus afternoon we decided to stop in. it was hot inside and the person who greeted us said they'd just turned on the ac but to be honest, over an hour later it was just as hot if not more so. not sure they have ac and this is the cause of the four star review. the food was very tasty, the service was fine but either get fans for the customers (since there were no windows that open onto 1st ave) or don't tell them the ac is on. it wasn't. we had non alcoholic beverages to counteract the heat and two starters, both of which were quite good: the som tom (papaya salad) we ordered four stars and it came out four stars. beware that if you're at all heat/spice intolerant, i would suggest you order 1-2 stars. u was impressed that the salad was spiced to my liking. the mandalay mushroom crunch was very good, with great texture. it was not oily or goopy from having been fried but it could have used a little bit of salt and what was described as a tangy/sweet plum sauce that comes with it took me time traveling back over 50 years to kindergarten or day care and the sweetened syrupy liquid that was in del monte fruit cups. one taste of the dipping sauce and i didn't revisit it. i enjoyed the crunchy mushrooms on their own. the main that we shared was the begawan curry. the presentation was lovely and it was a perfect quantity to split having previously had two appetizers. the shrimp were very well cooked, the actual curry flavor was deep and multilayered and the rice was served tucked into a folded banana leaf pocket. all in all, we liked all three of the dishes we ordered. this restaurant is much more upscale feeling than some of the other places along 1st ave and the other belltown food establishments. i didn't need it to have that ambiance to enjoy the food. i appreciated the pan asian breadth on the menu and the description of fusion dishes from across se asia. since we don't get sweltering heat that often, i can overlook the general temperature of the interior this afternoon and recommend this as a destination to explore lots of interesting flavor profiles. it was fun to explore a different menu with foods representative of many cultures that have centuries old traditions of food prep. the concept behind this place is worthy of people checking out.

Yelp
Beautiful ambiance, very nice for happy hour and good prices. The dishes are good for sharing and there is a lot of options. Got the chicken wings, lettuce cups, egg rolls and the Bellini. The Bellini was delicious and the Kalawan chicken wings were my favorite because they were so crispy.

Alaina C.

Yelp
Really was not good food. Not sure how it has all the 4 star reviews but here's what I got. The kalabaw wings were not good in terms of seasoning. The flavor was just kinda muddy, like couldnt make out anything specific about it. Also the wings were strangely long, like my first comment was, these chickens had some long legs huh? Idk what kinda chicken that was... Got the kalabaw curry with beef and the beef was tough, I don't think it was actually cooked in the curry just added after. The curry wasn't good and at that point I reached my limit and asked for it to be removed from my bill. I wont be back. I do see that they're starting to throw club parties here at night. I think thats a much better use of the space.

Yelp
I've been to Kalabaw twice and I will continue to bring my friends and family here. The ambiance in here is beautiful: warm brick, marble rounded edge tables, dinner by candlelight. Happy hour Monday - Friday 4:00 pm to 6pm and 10:00 to close! Amazing, but Sunday all day happy hour is awesome! Come check this HH menu y'all! Menu is a carefully curated and thoughtful menu of southeast Asian cuisine that is accessible and diverse. So far my favorites are: The chicken roti - 5 out of 5 stars. I eat fast and most food is forgettable but with this chicken roti I genuinely took my time savoring each bite. The gyoza is truly out of this world and packs a bit of spice! The lettuce wraps come savory with large lettuce leaves and at a quantity of 6 for an appetizer it's a great deal! The Austin Bell lobster roll comes with perfectly crunchy French fries with spices and a sprinkle of cheese. The lobster roll had the largest piece of east coast Maine lobster meat I've seen of any roll in town. Much appreciated and at a rate comparable to other lobster roll places in downtown Seattle. Now let's talk about the drinks. I favor gin and white rums and these are my favorite: 1) long walk in the woods - damn near colorless but full of flavor, balanced mint, Thai basil, lime and ginger 2) ABG - apple, blueberry and gin comes in a deep rich blue purple that almost rivals amethyst color. 3) truth or pear - so drinkable, so classy, a balance of pear brandy and sherry makes it sweet but not too sweet. The ambiance is amazing. Service is prompt and attentive for a relatively new space. Prices are totally appropriate for the craft and caliber of food that is presented in each dish. The care of the chef and the team clearly shows up in the presentation and the quality of the food. Most of all, this is a place that you can return multiple times and try a different set of appetizers or just stop in for some flawlessly prepared sticky rice. You'll be glad you did!

Simson Sam C.

Yelp
A friend and I recently had a fantastic time at Kalabaw in Belltown. We dove into their different curry dishes, which are perfect for vegans. The chef really knows how to bring out the complex flavors of Southeast Asia, and each dish was a hit. We also tried a deep-fried mushroom starter, and it was light, crisp, and super tasty. The portion was generous! I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu! Who knew vegan curry could be this good? I might just become a curry connoisseur!
google avatar

Nupoor B.

Yelp
Amazing ambience, lackluster food.... I was pretty disappointed with each item we ordered except for the Tom Yum noodle soup. The lemonade had no lemongrass flavor and was way too strong. The shan curry was superrr disappointing with its portion size, in the picture you can see the amount of rice vs amount of chicken- seemed more like an appetizer priced like an entree. The turmeric cauliflower was decent, lacked sauce- for the amount of cauliflower two dollops of sauce on the plate was not enough. The wontons were decent, same as the tom yum soup. Ambience was great, service was good too, food was disappointing.
google avatar

Yelp
So glad we tried Kalabaw on 1st. Such a beautiful space -obviously a lot of care and love has gone into the details and design. Then there's the food-oh my! We came in at happy hour and ordered the lumpiang and turmeric golden cauli. Both were nicely crispy and well cooked with perfect sauces. For entrees we each ordered one of the curries-the Kalabaw beef and the pork belly (Hung-Lae). They came in personal size fun dishes, although with 2 we shared both, one with roti and one with rice. The roti was flaky and delicious, but we definitely needed extra napkins. So many things to try so we will definitely be back!

Yelp
Food was good, but not amazing. Service was awful. I would say we felt mixed about it. While the food was good, I can't say it was worth the price. Not sure I would go back, but wouldn't say I wouldn't recommend it either.

Yelp
Absolutly Beautiful interior. The different options for seating (low tables, high tops, booths, and regular tables) always makes a space feel diverse and inclusive for all different bodies and needs. I love this. It's also just beautifully decorated--it's chic and feels luxurious, with lots of warm leather, marble tops, and gold with brick and lots of back lit walls just creates a sensual mood that would be great for a date or another special occasions. All of their food that I've tried has been amazing. From the crab legs, wet wings, tum yum soup, to the burger, the vegan curry and the lumpiang, and the lao sausage, all of it was great. Some of the happy hour items come a little spicier than what some people may like so make sure to ask. But id say only about a 3/5, not anything overwhelming. Oh and there are LOTS of options for someone doing low carb or keto diets. This was such a pleasant surprise! The menu really is so diverse--Lots of options for everyone!. I've been able to actually eat many things on the menu. But I also can't wait to come back when I can try all the other things I'm not eating now. The service has been great each time I've been and the happy hour is fantastic. I highly recommend.

Yelp
We came here on their soft opening and we were very pleased and happy with everything. To start off with the foods, we ordered the following items. Turmeric Golden Cauliflower--slightly batter but crispy and airy. *the house made turmeric coconut galangal dipping sauce was the game changer. It was rich, creamy and very flavorful Papaya salad- very refreshing with just the perfect amount of spiciness, sweetness, saltiness and sourness. Kalabaw wings- the wings are fried to perfection. Crispy yet airy ....yummm Service was impeccable, attentive and ultra friendly. We were greeted by the owner/chef Supanut Jirakaruen whom was so humble and down to earth. Found out that he is the mastermind behind Secret Savory as well. Also, shout out to our server Pat for her sweet and attentive service. Ambiance-- loved the decor. Definitely bringing you back to the Indochine era yet very sleek, chic and beautiful design. Thank you for making us feeling so welcome with your hospitality, warmth and friendly services. Thus, the foods were delicious with top notch quality. We definitely will be back very soon. FYI- they are still working on the signage just in case someone is having a hard time finding them.

Yelp
I think this spot is a gem. We walked in and no one was inside.... However, this easily became one of the most delicious meals I've had in Seattle. Shawn was our bartender; he was so vibrant and really curated such a pleasant experience. Completely made our night. I highly recommend this place. I especially recommend getting a seat at the bar with Shawn. That man has great taste. 5 stars.

Yelp
Small portions however food is still very tasty and so are the drinks. Service is excellent here, will be back here again. Especially once they start serving brunch!

Yelp
Went to grab a bite to eat after some sightseeing. Stopped by here because they had some Laotian sausages. It was ok; missing some sort of dipping sauce to go with it. I wish they had sticky rice with it. It would've made the food so authentic so I just added a side of white rice to it. Our waiter was nice and it wasn't a long wait. Also the water tasted bad. Straight up tap water.

Yelp
Came here starving, leaving full and satisfied! It's a spacious restaurant with chill vibe. My bf and I enjoyed the service and food here. Food tasted delicious with generous amounts and I was surprised the bill is much lower than other restaurants I've been to and it didn't even taste as good as this one! We're definitely coming back to try other dishes next time.

Yelp
... So Far. Stopped by here for a few small bites on a warm evening. The cocktail menu is very interesting - lots of complex tastes are lurking in there. Too many toppings in the SmokeShow though - but nice flavor. I was hot & thirsty so went with the lemongrass lemonade. Refreshing & a great foil for the spicy (but not too spicy) food. 5 lettuce wraps. The mix of savory-spicy-sweet - really top notch. And a nice mix of textures as well. The Crab cakes - nicely crabby, gently crunchy breading, and the spicy/sour sauce - a great pairing. The menu is full of things I want to try. Familiar packages (lumpia/egg rolls, noodles, fried rice, soups etc.) but with flavors that are new to me. Will be back to work through this menu. There's a lot that looks worth trying. Décor-wise, not sure about how the LED light strips pair with the otherwise spare & interesting southeast Asian vibe (the treatment on the ceiling looks great BTW)

Yelp
Four stars because the service was great and everyone we interacted with was fantastic. But this falls into a category of paying for vibes. The restaurant is very nice, and the dishes are plated nicely too, but its food that I don't think is necessarily standout from other thai places that would charge a fraction of the price for more food that tastes just as good. The dishes here are "modern" but not in a way that sets it a part all too much. It's modern more in that things are small and there's a lot of cute little soup spoons involved with the plating of a bunch of the appetizers. The ube cocktail though was in fact quite good and I liked the chive pancake too - that one felt more truly uncommonly good to me, but still not convinced of the price tag for 4 bites of food. The dessert was also good but reminiscent of dessert soups that some cantonese restaurants would give for free at the end of a meal.

Yelp
We tried out this new spot today, and the food was amazing! Everything had such great flavor and just looked incredible. Leon, our server, did a fantastic job providing excellent customer service. He checked in many times to make sure we were happy with all of our choices. I would rate 10 stars if I could! Check it out. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place, I dragged my bf last night The decor and music got our attention right away. The service was a little slow for it not being a packed house. Everything we ordered was delicious, down to the drinks. We were a little disappointed that the surf & turf dish was unavailable, but hopefully we'll be able to get it the next time we come in!

Yelp
Highly recommend this new restaurant. I live in the Belltown area and saw the construction of this spot. I was happy when they finally opened. The service was great. The wait staff was attentive and polite. The food was great, but the drinks won me over! Stop in if you're in the area.

Yelp
I came across a video that featured this restaurant, and it piqued my interest. My boyfriend and I came into this restaurant really hungry but excited to try the food. We ordered their chicken wings from the happy hour menu, he got the lobster with the noodles and I ordered the lobster soup. The chicken wings were good along with their curry dip sauce. My boyfriend got his plate first before mine. I had to wait almost 10 minutes for my plate. When I finally got my plate, a huge disappointment came across my face. Disappointment would be an understatement but there was literally NOTHING in my soup besides 2 skinny crab legs and just straight up broth with pieces of onions floating around. And I waited longer for my plate to recieve almost nothing. Nowhere have I thought that I would only received 2 crab legs and NOTHING ELSE. I really wish that I could be making this up but I'm not. And here's the kicker- the dish itself was $22. $22 for only two pieces of skinny crab legs??? That's a scam. The soup was on a higher spicier level despite it stated being spicey. It was just a lot spicer than I thought. Luckily, our server was the best. I requested the asian pull pork with fries to switch, and she was super sweet and understanding. 4/10 for food 10/10 for the service.

Yelp
Brand new Asian fusion restaurant in Belltown. Everything was delicious! We ordered the lettuce wraps (creative, tasted of Chinese hoisin sauce), beef curry (beautifully presented, very fusiony) and taro balls with coconut ice cream. I drank a nonalcoholic "Don't worry I'm driving" which balanced pungency and sweetness. Everything was portioned to share (rather than large entree). Still pretty empty (first weekend open), so the staff was very attentive and friendly. The space is gorgeous, gleaming but comfortable. We'll be bringing friends and family back here!

Yelp
My wife and I walked by here and decided to give them a try. We have officially found our new go to Thai Restaurant. The dishes came out and not only looked great but the taste and quality shined through in every bite. The server was very welcoming from the beginning and the owner even stopped by to ask us how we liked the food. The atmosphere is very modern and welcoming. Great for a date night or even just to swing in for great food. We will be back tomorrow for their grand opening and highly encourage people to come by and try it.

Yelp
Yummy. Was in need a night in and we ordered out from here. The avocado and sweet corn salad was so good I actually saved it for breakfast. The curry dishes we tried were also quite tasty. Food was nicely packed for travel.

Yelp
Ambiance: Gorgeous! Service: Excellent! Food: Delicious! This is a Thai restaurant with a touch of Filipino and Indian cuisine. This place just opened 6 months ago so come and support local business. Nicole was very attentive always filling up our cups with water. Whoever picked the glasses, cups, small eating utensils, tables, etc was very intentional. The water glasses were octagon shaped, the golden dessert spoons were perfect for sauces and sharing. The other drinks were served in copper glass. There were center pieces of silk flowers and real candles on the table. The table was not smooth but had ridges which gave it a nice texture. We ordered salad, a couple of noodles, halo halo. Dessert was different. It tasted good with lots of mini pearls/tapioca and an ice cream but definitely the halo halo Filipinos are expecting. I think what would make it more like Filipino halo-halo is to use ube ice cream. But hey, if you are wanting to eat true halo-halo then go to a Filipino restaurant. Kalabaw is an Asian fusion place. All I am saying is give this place a try.

Yelp
Service was great. Very friendly and attentive people. Unfortunately, the food was not very flavorful (Kalabaw noodles with tofu).

Yelp
The food at Kalabaw was delicious! * The Kalabaw Chicken Wings were fried to perfection and still juicy inside (my favorite) and the coconut galangal sauce was not for me but my friend LOVED IT! * Kalabaw Bibb Lettuce Wraps in little spoons (also my favorite)- so good spicy and sweet! Crab Fried Rice was very good and Avocado-Sweet Corn Salad was good. The food was exceptional, and the service was top-notch. Our server Kat was a delight, very friendly and attentive! Check it out- You will not be disappointed!

Yelp
Just had dinner here. The food was good. Chicken wings and papaya salad must try. The service was good. Fountain drinks I don't recommend . Save your money. Thank you for the free ice cream at the end.

Yelp
The decor is beautiful here, great place to take someone on a date! Had their lettuce wrap and it was delicious, a lil sweet, salty and the lettuce had a nice crunch to it. The server was friendly and attentive. Definitely coming back! The prices are very reasonable too!

Yelp
Really good! I went there on Thursday with two friends. We ordered tom yum soup, the mushroom appetizer, two curries, and two desserts. Their Roti is really soft and flavorful! Their desserts are clean and not too sweet! Service is on point too!
