"Found in upcountry Kalaheo—not far from the 4,000-acre coffee farm where they source their specialty Kauai, Kona, and Hawaiian coffees—Kalaheo Café is a great choice for breakfast. We love their creative, locally inspired interpretations of classics, like their popular Bonzo breakfast burrito, house-made sausages (chicken, turkey, or Portuguese-style), as well as Belgian waffles and classic fluffy pancakes. For something lighter, try their Anahola granola or half-papaya with fresh fruit and yogurt. But don’t forget the coffee, a staple of this café-slash-coffee company: You can even buy a bag (or two) of Hawaiian-grown beans to bring home."

Google
I googled a breakfast restaurant not too far away from our hotel in Koloa and found this amazing cafe! Hubby and I loved our breakfasts so much on Mother’s Day (when it was majorly crowded) that we came back again a few days later. Our meals were absolutely delicious! My Cinnamon French Toast was the best ever!

Atifah Syed

Google
Recently stopped by for a quick coffee pickup. They've good a good selection of decaf and caf options. Also tried their pastries, knuckle was very sweet but good, macadamia brownie and cinnamon roll. All pastries were fresh and delicious.

Google
Very good and a cute little shop. One of the restaurants with Great customer service. The employees are so friendly and nice. I ordered a veggie bowl as my main meal, but my favorite item was the papaya which would've been plenty by itself! My husband got the french toast which was huge and fresh and delicious!!

Google
This restaurant offers a wide-ranging breakfast, lunch and diner menu, with food that's both fast and delicious. It's truly a perfect spot for breakfast, lunch, or even dinner. They also boast a great variety of coffees and pastries. With convenient parking out front and restrooms available, I highly recommend them!

Google
Great place to grab a quick breakfast Great food great atmosphere great service Definitely a must try on the island You will not be disappointed You have to try the corn muffin. My wife and I go to the cafe every time we go to Kauai. They open early and get busy parking is easy

Google
We went for breakfast and had a wonderful experience all around. Great staff! Awesome menu with tons of options. Fresh baked goods, and they also have amazing cakes. Great coffee ☕️ and cute suvineors(shirts, hats & other things) A must on the island 🏝 if you're looking for a good bite with an awesome atmosphere! 10 outta 10!!! Would definitely reccomend!!

Google
Kalaheo Café is a charming spot with a welcoming atmosphere and great coffee—strong and flavorful. Our breakfast was solid overall. I especially enjoyed the well-seared spam and the cornbread muffin, which had a nice texture and flavor. However, the eggs were a bit bland and could have used some seasoning. Still, it’s a good place for a casual breakfast with quality ingredients.

Google
I had the pleasure of dining at Kalaheo Cafe, and it was an exceptional experience! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel right at home. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with beautiful decor and a laid-back vibe that's perfect for both a casual meal or a special occasion. The food was absolutely delicious – I had the loco moco, and it was one of the best I've ever had. The portion sizes were generous, and everything was freshly prepared. My partner tried the pancakes, and they were light, fluffy, and topped with fresh fruit, which was a real treat. Service was attentive but not overbearing, and we never had to wait long for anything. They also have a great selection of local coffee, which paired perfectly with our meal. Overall, I highly recommend Kalaheo Cafe for anyone looking for great food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
We enjoyed the gourmet food with casual setting with a wide variety of choices appetizer shrimp, the true green salad with the delicious broccoli and cheese soup The steak was the best on the island Carrot cake was Devine Caroline was a great waitress

Yelp
The coffee was good. The breakfast menu was varied enough to satisfy the kaleidoscope of palates in our group. The fruit was fresh. The table service was spotty. The parking lot sucked. The outdoor seating was nice but a little too loud from the road traffic. TLDR; worth it if you sit inside and don't have a large group.

Yelp
A small gem worth going back to when we arrived too late on the first try, we enjoyed our lunch in the deck very much (despite traffic noise). I had the lunch special of Fresh Grilled Ahi on a buttered flatbread with melted shredded cheese, black bean corn salsa, chipotle aioli, lettuce and tomato. For my side I chose plain fries. With iced tea, it was a perfect lunch! You order inside, and the items are brought to your table. I found access quite easy with my Walker. And the restroom was spotless.

Yelp
Great breakfast here on a late Sunday morning. Kind staff who are helpful with first timers. They have a very efficient system of ordering and helping you get a table. There are tables inside and outside. Be prepared to wait a bit but staff helped us get a table. Coffee and food were excellent. The pancake might have been the best I have ever had. Great flavor and fluffy! The egg, wrap with Portuguese sausage and Monterey Jack cheese was so good too! All food coming out from the kitchen looked good! Would come back to try more if we lived close by.

Yelp
Rating a diner-type restaurant a 5 is generous but this one is well deserved. A pleasant clean well-lit space with ample waitstaff. Ordering and paying at the counter is easy. The food is excellent. I loved the thick-cut bacon served with the eggs and hash browns. And the sticky buns, OMG! are amazing. Kalaheo is our favorite breakfast choice. Beware, parking can be challenging.

Yelp
A perfect place to fuel up on the way to Waimea Canyon!!! We thought we ate way too much but turns out the hike would take every bit of our energy. My husband had the Kahili breakfast and I ordered the loco moco, both paired with griddle corn muffins. If I were southern I'd be going "My word!" Both plates contained heaping portions of deliciousness. The corn muffin was halved and grilled, accentuating out the toasty corn flavor. His potatoes were topped with caramelized onions. My loco moco had the smoothest gravy; no soy sauce needed. Service was fast and friendly. Our empty plates were bused immediately. We also loved the relaxed family friendly ambiance. Many little kiddos (they provided booster seats). Unintrusive background music. We will be back!

Yelp
Came here for a random weekday breakfast and as expected, there was a line and parking is hard to come by. Once you get inside, the line did move fairly quickly as far as taking orders then it's another game trying to find a table. Luckily, there are also tables on the lanai if you want to enjoy your meal outside. The menu is absolutely incredible with selections for just about anybody as well as full coffee bar and then you'll get surprised you get closer to the cashier to notice the shelves and display cases of all the fresh pastries. This place did not disappoint and was absolutely amazing. No wonder there's a line.

Yelp
Always a must visit for breakfast during our vacation to Kauai! I typically get a Benedict from here, but I was wanting something sweet so I opted for the French toast. I am so grateful I did because it was so delicious, fluffy, and filling! I took a bite of my boyfriend's sandwich and it was delicious too! The coffee was perfect to sip along the French toast since it wasn't too sweet!
google avatar

Scott M.

Yelp
This place was a simple walk in, order at counter with swift service of food to your table. Typical laid back Hawaiian ambiance and the food was right on point! Highly recommend this local spot
google avatar

Gena M.

Yelp
I had the Smoked Salmon Benedict with brown rice. It was yummy and the perfect small portion. My husband got spam and eggs and he was satisfied. You order at the counter and then grab a seat. No server at the table. The employees are friendly, ordering went quick, and the food came out quick too. We sat outside, a little noisy from all the cars going by, but the temperature was perfect and it was relaxing.

Yelp
This might be the best breakfast place in the world. Honestly, it should be a Michelin winner because I would recommend driving from anywhere you are on the island to eat here. Worth it! Cinnamon roll: 10/10 KNUCKLE: 100/10 (Literal perfection. I have never had a better pastry than this. It might be worth a flight just for this. Just buy two. Trust me. You'll need it. Banana pancakes: 10/10 Waffle: 10/10 (again, best waffle I've ever had, and that's saying something.) Scrambled eggs/bacon: 10/10 Sausage: 5/10. ok Coffee: 8/10. good. LocoMoco: 10/10 (best I've ever had. normally sloppy and bland. Not this! and the grilled cornbread is DYNAMITE!) The staff is incredible and kind. Cool vibe and plenty of seating until it gets busy. Get there early if you can, and don't stay too long! So others can experience this place too.

Yelp
Great food and coffee! Plenty of tables inside and outside. FYI: Parking's somewhat limited because they're popular, so plan accordingly.
google avatar

Katie J.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot. Fast friendly and delicious. All the things I need to start the day off right. I had eggs, bacon, and a grilled corn bread. The pastry's looked delicious so I'll be returning for those.

Yelp
We are so happy to have stopped at Kalaheo Cafe & Coffee for breakfast! The cafe is cozy and homestyle ambiance, with a grab a menu/order at counter type service. The servers were friendly and the food was timely. Ample setting indoors/outdoors even with the amount of patrons they attract at breakfast hours! Offering a tradtional American breakfast, the portions were quite substantial and could have been easily shared (though we didn't this time around!). Very vegetarian friendly, though it does not appear that their dinner menu is. They also had a few GF items in their bakery case which is always nice to see! I ordered the egg benny and my partner had the b-fast burrito. The benny was lovely and the English muffin was soft and fresh. It is certainly carb-o overload, but the best fuel for a day of swimming or hiking the island! Didn't get to try their coffee this time around, but would 1000% visit Kalaheo Cafe the next time we are on Kaua'i!

Yelp
Walk up and sit restaurant with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We sat indoors and there was a nice tradewinds keeping the area cool. Menu was diverse with lots of different options. Breakfast served until 11:30 and mostly grilled sandwiches and burgers for lunch. Food service was fast and food was delicious and came out hot. Best sandwich's we ate on the island. They also serve beer and spirits along with coffee.

Frances L.

Yelp
The absolute BEST breakfast! Would recommend stopping here. Not too much seating, but a great selection of breakfast items and reasonably priced! Also great coffee!
google avatar

Kyle F.

Yelp
The people working the register were so friendly and welcoming. You order the food first and then find a table. I ordered the French dip with fries while my companions ordered a burger with onion rings and the other had a salad with pasta. After a short wait our food came out hot and fast, and was delivered with a smile and a thank you. The fries were super crispy but fluffy on the inside. My sandwich came on soft ciabatta roll, which I'd never had a French dip on before, but it was so delicious! My table mates all raved about their food as well. We all left quite happy.

Yelp
Bustling place... we could barely park. In any case, we couldn't get a table so we took our coffee and breakfast burrito otuside and just sat on the porch and ate. The coffee was pretty below average, but that breakfast burrito was so very good. Just your friendly neighborhood breakfast hot spot...
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot for breakfast. Lots of menu options. We got the loco moco and paniolo breakfast. Both were fantastic. I really love when you ask for over easy eggs and they actually cook them right - super runny and gooey. Portion sizes were perfect. Enough for you to feel full but not so much you're left stuffed or with a bunch of leftovers. We didn't get any pastries but they all looked great, especially the massive cinnamon rolls. There's a decent amount of seating, but we got there at 8 and had a short wait. Parking can also be tough. Staff is friendly, service is fast, prices are reasonable.

Rachel T.

Yelp
Delicious for both breakfast and dinner! The staff are very friendly and attentive! It has been our favorite dinner on the island.
google avatar

Em S.

Yelp
I think 3.5 stars is a fair rating for this breakfast spot. We needed a place to grab breakfast at and because it is Sunday, many restaurants are closed in the area. Kalaheo looked appealing from the roadside. It appears new and well kept. The wait staff were friendly! The parking lot started to fill up as we wrapped up breakfast so we got there at a good time! It didn't take long for the food to come out. I went with the veggie sandwich in a tortilla. It was an adequate portion size. Despite having a colorful mix of vegetables (olives, onion, zucchini, etc.) and adding provolone cheese, the wrap lacked significant flavor. I would recommend they either season the vegetables or add a sauce to make the meal more enjoyable. My dad and I found the fresh fruit smoothie to be pretty good, so get that!
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
Great food and great prices. Also the location was super convenient on your way westward of the island. There are way more coffee options at the counter than what you see on the menu.
google avatar

Melody P.

Yelp
Excellent place to grab some breakfast and coffee. Came here twice. Well I came here 3 times but they were closed on Monday. Good service. Crowded on the weekend but good to come during a week day. I enjoyed my cappuccino and breakfast
google avatar

Kelli H.

Yelp
Delicious food! Their French toast is amazingly delicious. I love how it's almost a cinnamon roll but French toast. One order was big enough for my two daughters. I liked their buttermilk pancakes and my husband enjoyed his savory dish. Prices were a bit better than closer to the beach. What I didn't love was ordering at the counter but it wasn't that big of a deal. They also have signs asking people to not linger which just isn't my vibe but I don't really care. I'd rather be swimming than at a breakfast spot. Haha.
google avatar

Chad K.

Yelp
Food was very tasty, staff was very friendly and was on it. My water never went below half not to mention they would always check on it. I swear at one point it felt like it was only us in the restaurant by how fast they were with everything being done in a very reasonably timely manner. Atmosphere here was great. A lot of different dishes to choose from and special ma weekly. If in the area and looking for a nice bite look not further this place will fill you up.

Kate W.

Yelp
Been coming here for a very long time, every time we visit the island. The vibe has changed. Focused on thru put, turning tables, speed.... Basically getting you out as quick as possible. Food isn't as good as it used to be. Basically nothing about it to make it worth the drive, sadly.
google avatar

Jean H.

Yelp
Been coming here since our first trip to Kauai in 1998, a local told us about this place and we have been going ever since. We love the breakfasts here as well the Cinnamon Knuckles. Massive portions, good coffee and make sure to take some treats home or to the canyon for a mid-hike snack! Very affordable spot, can't wait to go back! Food: *Paniolo Breakfast: 5/5 one of our favorites to order *Loco Moco: 5/5 *Cinnamon Bread French Toast: Generous portions, big enough to share 5/5 Ambiance: It's always packed so on the noisier side, tables outside and inside, wait in line while you order, classic mom and pop breakfast joint vibe, they are their merchandise out for purchase as well as take away goodies, pastries, cookies and cakes Service: Service is friendly, but quick as to make way for others who are ordering, the food comes out rather quickly usually
google avatar

Charlene L.

Yelp
This cafe was by far our favorite breakfast spot during our week in Kauai! We went at the beginning of our trip and then made sure we got breakfast there again before we left. Their coffees are great and they usually have 3 different options available. We loved their Prime Rib Loco Moco and it was our favorite loco moco among all the other spots we visited. I also tried their Cinnamon Bread French Toast (yum!) and their popular Knuckle (croissant cinnamon roll). Both were really solid and not overly sweet. They're busy but food comes out quick and there's plenty of seating. There's also a decent number of parking spots in their lot.
google avatar

Stephanie J.

Yelp
Tasty food and a gigantic 24-oz iced latte is the best way to start the day. And to top it off, avocado toast on gluten-free bread. Hubs had the Kalua Pork Benedict in an everything bagel with tomato salsa which looked super yummy, almost as good as my avocado toast and fruit. The baked goodies looked amazing but not gluten-free.
google avatar

Yelp
Aloha The food was real good today we got a cinnamon roll, and the south shore breakfast. However the customer service sucked the lady ringing us up in the take outline around 7:10am was extremely indifferent! She even had a smirk on her face for some weird reason , I told the cashier this is my friend's first time coming here. She wasn't sure what she wanted to drink. I'm not sure what happened to the friendly customer service but it's non existent here. Even the women that bring us our food wasn't so friendly! 2 , Southshore breakfast's 1, cinnamon roll One Pepsi One tea 43$ Not bad on price. We sat outside it as nice and cool listening to the birds enjoying conversation with my friend.
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
Amazing food, relaxed atmosphere, family friendly and a variety of options for all ages! Highly recommend!

Thomas S.

Yelp
Great food and service. It's the best breakfast place in the South side. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Karen C.

Yelp
This is a big YES!! One of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life! And their coffee is absolutely outstanding. It's just ever so slightly off the beaten path they wanna that a lot of people take and it's totally worth the trip super nice owners too!
google avatar

Lucy G.

Yelp
Pretty okay breakfast place. I got the paniolo platter, was just okay, honestly not worth $15 for 2 eggs and 3 slices of bacon, I got rice since I can't have potato but I felt like the rice didn't go with eggs and bacon for breakfast. The croissant sandwich was great! Probably our favorite out of all the dishes we ordered. And the burrito was just okay as well too many flavors combined together. Also tried the cinnamon roll and that was more like a fluffy bread with some icing on top and cinnamon sugar at the very bottom of it, not a typical cinnamon roll but still okay if you wanted something sweet after your meal.
google avatar

Robertta M.

Yelp
To whom this may concern: You should know that we are from California and your place of business was on our list of must try's! WHAT AN ABSOLUTE DISAPPOINTMENT! We arrived a little after 10a and no one was in line! BUT your cashier is RBF! Sorry but true! 1) The woman taking our order was not very attentive and literally had a NOT HAPPY face on! Rushed us thru the order and kept asking if I was ready! 2) A table opened and I asked my son to go grab the table so his disabled dad has a seat and immediately the young man behind the counter to whom we were not talking to popped up and said ... oh no you gotta order first ... Ok fine and then a Hauli man walked over and sat down, not one person working said a thing! I then asked that guy and he was dumbfounded, seemed shocked & just shook his shoulders, said ..."I don't know!" 3) Feeling rushed I just ordered the first thing I saw on the menu which was a South shore breakfast! It arrived with no meat, I asked what happened and the same woman says it didn't come with meat and that I can order something! Ordered spam and charged me $5.18! 4) A girl came out to deliver my husbands food which was a regular egg sandwich - eggs were hard when he asked for soft scramble & the toast was very hard that you could probably put a dent in a childs head, absolutely dry with no taste and no butter! Asked her for butter she went and came with an attitude? My husband then said to her that for $80 this should be better food and service was meh feeling rushed! You know what her response was? ... "oh you should have looked online for your order before you came in" ... WHAT? She kind of switched her attitude when I asked if she was a manager and said that the owner was inside! I was too upset to speak to this owner but he or she needs to do better! You do better and your employees will do better! 5) Table next to us they got they're order & their server gave them Double only to find out that order was for someone else and to the outside looking in, your rude server just said ... "yeah I take back"... and do what toss it? With Covid and all Just leave it and let them have that food you mistakenly gave them, apologize and leave the food they could have taken it free as it was your mistake! Oh she also said when arrived with their food ... HEY here you go ... WHAT THE HECK? 6) Same girl that rushed my order comes back and said here's your spam that $5.18! Your mistake and I pay? I don't really care about the money, it was the principle! 7) if that's how you want your business to be run, then put the menu on ur wall behind the register instead of menus! If you want menus, sit people down to READ your menu and decide like normal people not feeling rushed to order properly! If you want menus sit your customers otherwise put it on the wall and don't rush us! Unacceptable service and the food was NOT worth $80 and definitely didn't deserve a tip! But they got it! Should have I asked for the owner? Yes but we were too upset and didn't want to make a scene! Thinking of it now, I should have! You were on our list but not anymore and definitely no referrals! We've come there before with WHITE family and we weren't treated like today! Also if you're gonna keep your patio, you might wanna put a screen to keep the flies out! We hardly ate anything because flies landed on our food it was disgusting! Waste of money if you ask me! What a damn shame cause now my family won't come there anymore after our experience!

Yelp
Great food on the way to Waimea Canyon from Kapaa! Staff was friendly and there is a small gift shop/art gallery next door that has some nice local work.

Yelp
Again... we enjoyed my birthday breakfast! Roasted veggie on a bed of brown rice topped with two scrambled eggs. Delicious and just the right portion size. Hubby had a Lawai Omelette which was loaded with veggies, bacon and feta cheese, home fried potatoes and corn muffin. He thoroughly enjoyed it. And being a former breakfast cook he knows a good omelette and presentation! We have never been for lunch or dinner but every time we have been here for breakfast it has been enjoyable. They do a great job and have a very smooth running operation.... It can get very busy with a line but it seems to advance quickly. Semi - self serve. You place your order at a counter, grab a number and find your own table and grab a cup of their great coffee and water . The waitress finds your table, delivers your meal and brings your condiments and silverware to you. They did not check back on us, (no refilling coffee, water, or to see if we needed anything) but we were fine. If you have a hard time making a menu choice grab a menu inside, sit on the outside bench and decide. That way you won't feel pressured by the line that is forming behind you with hungry people. We sat on their patio, it was pleasant. We live in Hawaii and always have a problem with salt shakers and the humidity. Well they had a moisture proof salt and pepper shaker ( didn't even realize there was such a thing) that I ordered from Amazon while I was waiting for our food so a good meal and a problem solved We left for our day fueled with good food and another memory in the books!

Yelp
Visited this cute cafe & coffee shop on a recommendation from a friend and it was so worth the drive from Lihue where we are staying! Quick service, got right in on a weekday and you order as you walk in. Inside and outside dining but gets crowded. Great coffee choices, eggs, Hawaiian traditional favorites, pastries, French toast etc. they have lunch and dinner as well. I had the home made cinnamon French toast and my husband tried the loco moco breakfast special and both were so amazing and unique, fresh homemade taste. I also had a white mocha and the cream on top was next level! Rich creamy goodness! My husband had the regular coffee and there were 3 choices to choose from. Loved this place we will come again!
google avatar

Maxwell D.

Yelp
We had seen good reviews of this place so we decided to check it out for breakfast. We got there just after it opened at 7am when it was still quiet but it filled up quick and the parking lot isn't huge so if you can go early I'd suggest it. Well worth it though! Amazing quick service and everything we had was delicious. The French toast was thick cut and so moist. And the eggs Benedict was perfect too. Great hollandaise sauce and crispy hashbrowns on the side.
google avatar

Cleo C.

Yelp
Very good food. I thought it was a sit down restaurant, but you order at the counter and they bring it to you. We went on a Sunday but it wasn't that crowded. The food is very good. I loved the omelette that I could take home. It has vegetables and feta inside. The place is small inside. After you order, you pick a table. There is seating out on lanai too. The latte comes in big cup. That was nice!!
google avatar

Shawn R.

Yelp
Huge portions, everything we had here was fantastic. I like that you order then sit, instead of having a server. Super convenient spot between the south east and south west corners of the island.
google avatar

Martin G.

Yelp
So disappointing. Five minutes after "noon" and they won't service breakfast to someone - me - who asked politely, and mentioned I drove 30 minutes to come eat here for their well known Breakfast. How cold. 5 minutes. Customer service, especially in Kauai has gone considerably down hill. Friends recently returned from Kauai and mentioned how poorly they felt they'd been treated in the island. It is very apparent. And this little cafe is a perfect example of what's going wrong. Please have a heart to polite customers.

Troy W.

Yelp
Food and service is always the best. Family owned business - putting out incredible food - every day!

Yelp
Really good breakfast! Gluten free options, great service, fast, friendly, yummy! Definitely visit when in Poipu!

Yelp
Don't pass this up for your breakfast desire. Local, delicious and friendly staff. I enjoyed a make your own omelet with ham, onions and peppers and cheese, hash browns and a corn muffin. Took home a cinnamon roll and a coconut cake slice, fresh and delicious. The space is inviting and comfortable. A busy cafe

AnneMarie D.

Yelp
My first Hawaiian breakfast is always at Kalaheo Cafe. Farm fresh eggs are cooked to perfection regardless of cooking selection (my favorite is poached). The South Shore breakfast includes hash browns, a yummy selection of cut fruit and a choice of corn muffin or toasted home made bread. 10/10 for taste, food presentation & temperature. My travel companion selected the Paniolo breakfast 8/10 definitely better than average. Her order included over easy eggs, link sausage , hash browns & rye toast. She opted for Kauai Roasters Chocolate Macadamia coffee with cream. Coffee is divine whether it is a flavored pour or a special cappuccino or mocha. We also ordered a bakery treat to go; cinnamon bun & sticky bun respectfully. Consistently amazingly delicious! Service is friendly & efficient. Parking can be tricky unless you arrive early particularly on the weekend. I highly recommend Kalaheo Cafe; you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Bob T.

Yelp
Must be on your list of 10 places to eat. They make the cinnamon loaf there and create the best French toast ever. You know it's good when locals eat there. The secrete (must arrive before 9) Great quality, always friendly & fast service . This is a well oiled machine establishment.
google avatar

Karyn C.

Yelp
The cinnamon knuckles! So good! We split a chicken pesto sandwich on homemade bread and it was fabulous. A bit pricey but everything in Hawaii is. Don't miss out on the knuckles!
google avatar

Kanika D.

Yelp
Went there for breakfast. Food was yummy and service was good. Food was not overly priced :)
