Kalamaki Greek Review - Mid-Wilshire - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"You’ll need a moment to take in the decor at Kalamaki, a casual all-day Greek spot in Mid-Wilshire. It’s all very on the nose in an endearing way: Fake white and blue flowers dangle from the ceiling, prints of Santorini line the walls, and a fluorescent sign shouts, “Keep Calm and Go To Greece!!” Trust us, Kalamaki, we would if we could. But for now, we’ll take the solid souvlaki at this reliable lunch option. Previously a food truck, Kalamaki’s brick-and-mortar has an expanded menu that offers a bit of everything: generously stuffed gyros, big Greek salads, feta-topped “Greek fries” best enjoyed warm, and beef sandwiches on chewy vromiko bread (similar to a baguette). Everything is perfectly fine and lends itself to an easy midday meal. And as random as it sounds, Kalamaki also has really good frozen yogurt. It’s made with real Greek yogurt supposedly, and the nutty honey-tahini flavor is enough reason to ditch the Pinkberry down the street." - Sylvio Martins

Dinner here was the best meal we had in Athens. On Drakou Street, Kalamaki is one of the few good places in this area we wished we could return to. The staff is friendly and made some helpful suggestions. We had a terrific Greek salad of tomatoes and feta (IMO the Greek salad is a sign of how much care a restaurant takes) It was GOOD. The corn pita was superb, eaten too fast to photograph! The dish of olives was great, and we had a divine baked eggplant with diced bell peppers, wild rice, and souvlaki skewers of BBQ pork and chicken, perfectly cooked. The house red wine was good and reasonably priced. Kudos to the staff and chef, they do things right! PS, the bill for our feast was only 36 euros. Highly recommend.

Went in here for the fries before my flight and it was the perfect end to my Greece trip. Really nice staff, amazing food with so much flavor, and a great atmosphere away from the crowds. This is great for some sharing plates or a solo dine.

We went here our first night in Athens looking for some food. And let me tell you it was one of the best decisions we made in Athens !! The food was so amazing I can’t describe it, you’d have to taste it ❤️❤️❤️ I would’ve gone every night but we wanted to try other things since we were there for the weekend Their salads are from another planet ✨ and the skewers are divine!! Tzatziki and pita bread are a must

Great food and atmosphere. Came here on our first night in Athens. The servers are nice. When you walk up to the large menu, they will let you sit anywhere you’d like or accommodate you to your party size. The kalamaki bar salad was delicious. Also the sausage and the skewer meats were very tasty.

A nice, atmospheric bar with delicious food. The seafood, kebabs, and other grilled meats are delicious and juicy. The staff speaks English, and there's a menu in English. The prices are reasonable, and the restrooms are clean and smell nice. I highly recommend to try the Kalamaki salad.

We came across Kalamaki Bar by chance after reading some reviews. The place has a modern look and a pleasant atmosphere. The pork and chicken souvlaki were tasty, though surprisingly served without pita, and the buffalo burger was underwhelming. Service was a bit slow, and overall there are many better options if you want a more authentic Greek experience.

Brilliant place. T Bone veal for less than 20 euros! Food came out fast and delicious. Pita breads were warm and fries were delicious. Service great. Friendly atmosphere. Really impressed. Great value. Great place.

Superb restaurant with a wide variety of dishes. The Greek salad was delicious and the various kebab sticks were really great. The Halloumi kebab stick was also a personal favourite. The spicy feta dip also paired very well with olive oil and the bread. The olives are listed as ‘olive oil’ on the menu. The setting was nice with good outdoor/indoor seating. Really good service and would certainly return. It does get busy with locals (a good sign) and they offer a takeout service, if you would rather take something back to your hotel. Good beer menu.
