"Finding a casual, straightforward restaurant in South Beach that does one thing (and does it well) is always a struggle. This is why Kalamata should be on your radar. Maybe it’s not the place to celebrate a birthday, but it makes really good classic Turkish dishes. Start with the meze platter, and try to eat the baba ganoush and shakshuka before the rest of the table notices how good it is. For entrees, focus on lamb—particularly the lamb chops. End with baklava and a general feeling of gratitude that normal, consistent restaurants still exist this close to Ocean Drive." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo

"This South Beach spot makes very tasty Mediterranean food, including gyros. It’s a low-key place where you’ll probably see a bathroom door being propped open with a rusty kettlebell or drunk tourists on the hunt for something to eat. But what it lacks in looks, it makes up for in slow-turning, juicy beef. You’ll have a prime view as they shave off slices just for you. Just try not to look too creepy while you stare at it." - Ryan Pfeffer

By far the best mediterranean restaurant I tried in US!! The attention to detail in the menu is excellent. Everything is marked clearly. You can find tons of gluten free and dairy free meals. I have strict dietary restrictions and the chef was open to tons of modifications. Would definitely recommend. Everything we tried were super tasty!

Kalamata was a delightful surprise during our trip to Miami! We walked in and opted to sit inside, which had a lovely ambiance. The staff was thoughtfully attentive throughout our meal, and everything we ordered was exceptional. We started with the babaganoush and pita bread—an enormous, delicious portion. The octopus was a standout, perfectly tender with a satisfying crispness. We also shared the keftedes platter; the meat was tender, well-seasoned, and perfectly grilled, served alongside flavorful rice and a fresh, vibrant salad. To top off the meal, we indulged in the baklava, which was absolutely amazing. Honestly, there’s no room for improvement. This was the best meal we’ve had in Miami, and that’s saying something after visiting many trendy restaurants. We can’t recommend Kalamata enough!

AMAZING. Thats all I could say. Food was absolutely delicious. I did not expect the Gyro will be THAT GOOD. It was not dry, when you eat it, you definitely could tell it’s made of real meat. Very tasty but also balanced at the same time. Service was 100% up there. Everyone was nice and friendly. I did not expect this restaurant to be that good. 100% RECOMMENDED.

I recently visited Kalamata Mediterranean Cuisine and had a fantastic experience. I tried their Iskender and Adana, both of which were delicious and full of authentic flavors. While the Iskender wasn't quite the traditional Turkish version, the taste was still exceptional tender, flavorful meat with a great balance of spices and sauces. The Adana was also perfectly seasoned and grilled, showcasing the restaurant's dedication to quality. The outdoor seating area was a lovely touch, providing a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere to savor the meal. I also had raki , which was excellent, great variety and perfect for pairing with the food. Overall, Kalamata offers a wonderful dining experience with flavorful Mediterranean dishes, attentive service, and a cozy outdoor setting. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious meal and a great atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kalamata Mediterranean Restaurant in Miami, and it was an outstanding experience! From the moment we walked in, the welcoming ambiance and friendly staff set the tone for a wonderful meal. The menu offered a perfect balance of traditional Mediterranean dishes and modern twists, catering to a variety of tastes. The freshness of the ingredients was immediately evident, and every dish we tried was a celebration of flavors. The hummus was silky smooth, the lamb kebabs were cooked to perfection, and the baklava was the perfect sweet finish to an amazing meal. The attention to detail in both presentation and taste was impressive. What truly stood out was the staff’s attentiveness and knowledge—they made excellent recommendations and ensured our dining experience was seamless. Whether you’re a fan of Mediterranean cuisine or trying it for the first time, Kalamata is a must-visit spot in Miami. I’ll definitely be back and will be recommending it to everyone!

Tried out the İskender kebab here. And it was exceptional, tastes just like how it would be in Türkiye. Great service too, some of the waiters here are Turkish theirselves. They have basically all other Mediterranean cuisine too, from Turkish cuisine to Greek, Balkan, Middle Eastern, etc. They also got Turkish drinks such as the yogurt drink Ayran, Turkish tea, Turkish coffee, etc. Overall, great restaurant, I will definitely come back here. Update: Visited here at least 5 more times. The plain yogurt, Turkish coffee, and tzatziki sauce is so well made that it literally feels like you're in Türkiye or Greece. Homemade Gyro is original quality. Great and very friendly customer service and waiters. This restaurant became my favorite restaurant in Miami Beach. The place also has restrooms, and it's very clean along with the rest of the restaurant. Perfect ambiance with air conditioning and Turkish music.
