The 20 Best Restaurants In South Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"Finding a casual, straightforward restaurant in South Beach that does one thing (and does it well) is always a struggle. This is why Kalamata should be on your radar. Maybe it’s not the place to celebrate a birthday, but it makes really good classic Turkish dishes. Start with the meze platter, and try to eat the baba ganoush and shakshuka before the rest of the table notices how good it is. For entrees, focus on lamb—particularly the lamb chops. End with baklava and a general feeling of gratitude that normal, consistent restaurants still exist this close to Ocean Drive." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo

Miami Mediterranean Cuisine Review - South Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"This South Beach spot makes very tasty Mediterranean food, including gyros. It’s a low-key place where you’ll probably see a bathroom door being propped open with a rusty kettlebell or drunk tourists on the hunt for something to eat. But what it lacks in looks, it makes up for in slow-turning, juicy beef. You’ll have a prime view as they shave off slices just for you. Just try not to look too creepy while you stare at it." - Ryan Pfeffer

As a Turkish person, also from Adana (kebab city in Turkey) I think they have the best kebabs in Miami. They serve Hummus from the house before main dish is served. Very juicy delicious kebabs. I recommend sashlik and Adana kebabs. Salads and deserts are also very good. Our waiters Yasin and Barış are great guys. Whenever we are in Miami, this is our number one choice. Finally Turkish Tea addicts will be very happy!

We visited Kalamata Restaurant and everything was absolutely perfect! 🌟 The service was outstanding and very attentive. The owner’s warmth and the atmosphere made me feel like I was back in Turkey, enjoying a seaside dinner with friends over rakı. 🥂 The flavors were simply beyond words — fresh, authentic, and unforgettable. I never imagined I could have such an experience in Miami. Definitely coming back! 🙌✨ and also Julia was a amazing waitress and huge thanks for her !

Google
Really delicious food & amazing service. We had the Adana Kebab & the lamb chops. Then the Almond pudding & baklava for dessert. We finished off with a complementary Turkish tea. Everything was amazing!!

Google
We went there to days in a row because the food is so fresh and delicious! Their Mediterranean salad is amazing, I also recommend the lamb chops and the falafel. The waitress is very nice and welcoming, Im definitely coming back more times!

We had an absolutely wonderful dinner experience! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm Turkish hospitality that made us feel right at home. The food was beyond delicious — every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. A special thank you to Yasin and Barış for their outstanding service and attention to detail. They truly went above and beyond to make our evening memorable. I can’t wait to come back for another dinner the next time I’m in Miami!

Google
The best Mediterranean restaurants we have been to. Food is outstanding and lots of vegetarian options. Home made Hummus was terrific. Very pleasant ambience. Baris the waiter was extremely efficient and pleasant. Very reasonably priced. This place had a European feeling. Try this place. You won’t be disappointed. Excellent wine selection.

Google
I recently had the pleasure of dining at a Kalamata restaurant. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for an enjoyable evening. The menu was extensive , showcasing a variety of dishes. We began our meal with a lentil soup, the soup was good. For the main dish we ordered iskender kebab and grilled salmon . Iskender was fresh and flavorful , with the balance of spices and textures. But my salmon was regular , nothing special , it was cooked good but not enough flavor , so I was disappointed. We had some drinks , they’re okay. The service throughout the evening was attentive and friendly, with the staff eager to share recommendations and ensure that we were enjoying our meal. I can recommend this place to visit ,but do not order grilled salmon , in overall I had a pleasant time dining there .

Yelp
During my 5-day stay in Miami, I've come back to this place THREE times solely for the Lamb Chop entree. It's THAT good. Medium-rare is cooked to perfection and it's supremely tender, juicy, smoky, and delicious! You HAVE to get the Lamb Chops here. The host recognized me after the first night and welcomed me back the subsequent times. Ambiance is great and service is prompt. Mix Meze Platter is also delicious.

Yelp
I was yet again having too much fun here that I forgot to take some pictures until dessert. The tahini martini is basically an espresso martini, but nonetheless, great! The baklava-- incredible! And for my entree, I got the steak (special)-- best part of the meal! For the appetizer, we got some seared garlic shrimp and hummus. The pita bread was soft, and fresh. The service was also very nice, but felt european. We had to wave down our server a few different times to pay. The mood lighting was perfect, and if it wasn't so hot, I may have sat outside. Although it sits on a kind of obscure street, so I take that back. Just eat in side if you can. It's cute!

Yelp
My new favorite Mediterranean place! The hummus was fresh and tasty. I also order a Gyro sandwich and it was delicious! Already thinking of coming back to try other dishes. Juli my server was very attentive, friendly and share many recommendations. 100% recommended

Yelp
We stopped for a quick dinner before an event at the nearby Jewish Museum. My husband arrive first and was offered a complimentary hummus plate. It was served just as I arrived. W very nice welcome with warm pita and a delicious bread. I chose the kiftedes or Greek burgers; he got the octopus. Both were delicious, each with a small side salad. These appetizers made meals for both of us. We sat outside and watched as the tables quickly filled. It seems to be a pretty popular place, especially with families. Perhpas we were the only Miami Beach residents that evening. Service was good considering the number of people at the restaurant. We'd go again.
google avatar

Diana L.

Yelp
Delicious! I really enjoyed everything I tried at Kalamata. The grilled octopus was tender and flavorful and the hummus was rich and creamy. I ordered the mixed platter to try all their different meats and I enjoyed everything, especially the lamb and gyro meat. The flavors were great and everything was cooked perfectly!

Yelp
What a great night to sit outside and enjoy a quiet meal. I started with the Greek salad. It was fresh and yummy. I could have used more Feta... but who couldn't? I had the chicken kabab with fries instead of a side salad. The chicken was so flavorful. My server was great. Overall I enjoyed a lovely meal.

Yelp
My Husband and I went for dinner last night. The food and service were all very good, but unfortunately I got severe food poisoning and ended up in the Emergency Room with incessant vomiting, the other thing that comes with food poisoning, and fever. Really unfortunate because it was a nice spot and the food was delicious, but I would never be able to go back. I have never been so ill from eating out.

Yelp
If you read my reviews cleanliness is my number 1 PRIORITY at an establishment. Everywhere in this restaurant spotless clean. Amazing location, great service and fantastic restaurant. It is bunch of restaurants on the block, you have options. There is Japanese, Italian, Burger joint and Mediterranean and Turkish. Very refreshing interior, have outdoor seating makes you very comfortable. I must say, its been a while didn't enjoy my dinner as much i did at Kalamata. Very accommodating. Great dishes, grilled octopus, crispy sigara borek, fresh Mediterranean salad. And then Organic Chicken kebab, and Lamb Adana Kebab. Never had a chicken kebab like this, are you kidding me? Then deserts, nice juicy watermelon and of course my almond pudding. Yummm!!! I am not a fan of lemon zest in the pudding, but this one was very light and refreshing. I must say it is a MUST to have that!! Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Racquel E.

Yelp
My family and I had a wonderful lunch at Kalamata Mediterranean Cuisine. We started with fresh hummus and warm pita, followed by lamb shish kebabs served with bulgur pilaf and a side salad. The lamb was cooked to perfection. For dessert, we enjoyed pistachio baklava paired with hot tea. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazingggg especially for South Beach standards! Decided to check this place out with my mom after having a nice Sunday walk in South Pointe, and it was an amazing end to our day. We sat outside, they also have a cute indoor area and it was packed. My mom and I shared the platter that they have which had a little bit of everything (lamb, chicken, beef, gyro) and came with rice and salad. For staters we also ordered the eggplant dip, and have to say all the flavors were perfect. Came with naan as well. At the end we got baklava which and in 4 pieces and of course some Turkish tea because you can't not get tea (which was complimentary). Our server was very attentive and the food came out pretty fast. Definitely will be back no doubt!

Yelp
Happened on this spot walking on Miami Beach neighborhood. There are plenty of options, lots of Greek , Italian , Cuban and Mexican. This restaurant had quite a few People there which is a fairly good indication food is good. We opted to sit outside since the weather was good and not humid. There are many options but we wanted to have standard quick sandwich type dishes. We had the grilled chicken in pita. This was chunks of chicken with lettuce and tomato. The gyro stuffed full with tzatziki sauce and fresh veggies. The most delicious was the falafel appetizer. The falafel was well cooked green in color and not dry at all. One of the best I've had. The hummus was fairly standard nothing special. Service was good. This spot is a great drop in restaurant. 82.55 that included gratuity. You have to check the bill in Miami 50% of restaurants include gratuity ... so be aware.
google avatar

Jeremy C.

Yelp
Pretty cute restaurant with attentive service and decent food. We enjoyed the falafel and hummus best, the gyros were good but a bit greasy. It's a nice place to sit outside and enjoy a meal, but it does comes with the South Beach prices.
google avatar

Brian W.

Yelp
Stopped for a quick bite and drink after the beach and this place was amazing! Reasonable prices, which are hard to find, great service, good selection and amazing food. This place checked all the boxes. If you are a fan of Mediterranean food, don't miss this place.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant is so cute inside and out! Our waitress was also so attentive and kind! She let me sample the house tea and it was delicious. It was served with honey. I also really enjoyed the yogurt drink which I never tried before and it went so well with the food! I was told it was Greek yogurt, with salt and a little water. Besides that, unlimited bread with your hummus! Yes, please! The food here is delicious. Give them a try!
google avatar

Yelp
I've always walked past this place during my visit to Miami but finally stopped today. My friend says his food was amazing. Mine was just OK. I ordered a salad that was kind of bland. The Mediterranean salad I believe the name of it was but it wasn't that great. I ate it anyway since it looked healthy. Our house was pretty cool. I forget his name.
google avatar

Ori R.

Yelp
This is the second time dining here and it's just as delicious and consistently tasty. The skirt steak is a must it melts in your mouth. I also personally recommend the tabouli salad, however, everything is delicious. Thank you to the chef and staff. Excellent service. Worth every penny. The ambiance is also great.

Yelp
Exceptional Experience! Everything about Kalamata was truly top-tier. The food was bursting with flavor, the staff was incredibly attentive, and the hospitality was unmatched. The owner, Elias, is hands-on and deeply invested in ensuring every guest has an outstanding dining experience. He personally engages with diners, adding a personal touch that elevates the atmosphere. Without a doubt, one of--if not my absolute favorite--restaurants in Miami! Highly recommended.

Carol A.

Yelp
The service and the food were really good. Our server was very hospitable and attentive
google avatar

Christos A.

Yelp
Overpriced tourist trap, you're paying restaurant prices for what's essentially turkish fast food. I had babaganush (tiny), falafels (good but not a lot of them), chicken shish (completely dried out, almost inedible) and meze platter (tiny portions). Taking the small portions into account and that the first ingredients they use are dirt cheap, the prices they charge defy belief. Skip it and go to Rice on Alton for great persian food that's half the price of Kalamata and tastes a lot better.
google avatar

Mary W.

Yelp
AMAZING! What a surprise and hidden gem in South Beach. The food here is amazing, as well as the staff. It's also very clean and adorable inside. We started out with an appetizer which included Shakashuka, Tabouleh, Babaganush, tzatziki, and hummus. It was bomb! I want more some right now! My chicken sandwich was also phenomenal and the grilled chicken salad my friend got was fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend this place to locals and tourists alike!
google avatar

Desiree D.

Yelp
We ordered to go from here one day for lunch. Our food was ready when I went to pick it up and the person who helped me was friendly. The hummus was tasty and the pita was warm. The chicken shish kebab was juicy and not overcooked and the rice was flavorful. A great to go experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Great service, excellent food. Perfectly priced for the portion. Beautiful outdoor section with umbrellas.

Yelp
Augustina was awesome. She made the perfect recommendations. Sit outside if you prefer to people watch. It's a whole vibe.
google avatar

Yelp
Very average food but the staff is friendly and the food hits the spot for south beach.
google avatar

Connie S.

Yelp
Kalamata is an excellent Mediterranean restaurant, my husband and I have been several times while staying in Miami Beach for the winter! Always get a great meal at a reasonable price with great service! Highly recommend
google avatar

Sindu K.

Yelp
Hands down, one of the best Mediterranean places I have been to. We drive all the way from Pompano beach to have dinner at this place and definitely not disappointed. The interiors are beautiful, they have seating both inside and outside. I ordered the chicken kebab which was delicious. The staff is very friendly too! Highly recommend this place. There is no designated parking, so finding street parking might be tricky
google avatar

Gisela N.

Yelp
The server was so nice! She came with a great vibes and a smile every time to the table! The food delicious!! And you can not leave without tasting the almond pudding!!! Best dessert ever!
google avatar

Emily A.

Yelp
We had a wonderful meal here. We sat at an outdoor table that was lovely and our waitress was very friendly. Got the food ordered quickly and fed my children and record time! The ambience was lovely being out in the street there and the street is really not very loud. we loved the hummus and vegetables and my children love their entrées. I think they got the salmon and the chicken kebabs. I got the falafel and it was great not too dry! I would definitely recommend.
google avatar

Alison C.

Yelp
Delicious food, great ambiance and friendly staff. I stopped by for a chicken gyro, Greek salad and hummus. But I stayed for the Turkish coffee and baklava. Everyone in the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The food had great flavor, it was exactly what I was craving. I will be coming back here.

Rick K.

Yelp
I have been going to Kalamata since it first open and the food and service only gets better. The artichoke salad is amazing. Not too mention the Adana and the lamb chops which are amazing. In addition the server Robin does an outstanding job. It is a must on the beach.

Daniel V.

Yelp
Food quality was atrocious ordered online through Instacart Instacart was totally disappointed. The food delivered was pathetic. It went into the trash, the Greek salad went into the trash, and the stale pita bread went into the trash too. $76 Kalamata food worth throw out . DvR
google avatar

Ronil S.

Yelp
Great place. The food was awesome. I tried the mix grilled platter as it had chicken, lamb and gyro. Service was fairly quick and ambiance was great
google avatar

Joe W.

Yelp
Had a great time! The server was very sweet and happy to answer our questions. We saw a drink on the menu called Gazoz, we had no idea what it was, but wanted to try it. She happily explained it to us and made recommendations on flavors. (it's a Turkish soft drink for those who haven't heard of it) She had some pita bread and hummus sent out to us, on the house, which was also very nice. I had the gyro, which I was expecting to be wrapped in pita bread. I was served a platter of lamb, rice, vegetable, and tzatziki. I was confused by this, but didn't say anything. Looking back I probably should have questioned it, but I figured that's just how they served it here. It was still very good and there was plenty leftovers to box up. Pricing was very reasonable for the area. I would recommend and gladly return next time I'm in Miami.
google avatar

Olga G.

Yelp
I love love love this place. It' serves traditional Turkish food with a traditional Turkish service and hospitality. I think all local Turkish community comes here for meals... amazing for both dinner and lunch.

Victoria G.

Yelp
Buena comida, buen servicio, buenos precios. Buen lugar para comer una rica comida mediterránea volveremos
google avatar

Nanou A.

Yelp
Absolutely poor service. They judge you based on the entourage. Came in one night with kids and service was good (she was Hispanic) Came back again 2 days later and the server didn't treat us well at all (Caucasian or Eastern European) Never offered the welcome bread/hummus, I had to ask for sugar and spoon for my tea. She put the spoon in the sugar box. Disgusting. She didn't check on us at but did for other tables. She was aggressive and rolled her eyes, I felt that I was bothering her. We would have loved to add additional tip but this woman didn't even deserve her mandatory tip gratuity! Food was good but not consistent as first visit. Fruit plate was not the same quality (same price) terrible service. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
google avatar

Mariam A.

Yelp
Best turkish place in miami. I absolutely enjoyed the iskender kabab and kunafa. Will definitely be back.

Marcela C.

Yelp
Kalamata is an excellent spot! Food is of upmost quality. I eat atleast 2-3x's/week from here. The owner is hardworking and very much involved in the day to day operation; thats his success!
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
Cute quaint place with authentic music playing makes you feel Greek.Oopa ! ! We started with babaganoush appetizer it was delicious and it had good garlicky flavor I love . i had the home made gyro dinner . you definitely can tell its home made by the texture and awesome flavor. It was thinly sliced and piled high . The wife had the Keftedes dinner which she said tased just like we were back in Greece! Both came with rice and a house salad. Just when we were happily stuffed to the gills the waitress asked about dessert , oh boy ! They had a pistachio baklava, sounded to good to pass-up and it was . Fabulous! The service was nice and friendly. Great time!
google avatar

Julian R.

Yelp
If I could put 6 stars I would. The service was fine. But the food was on another level. Immaculate dishes. I had some of the fish, some falafel, Turkish tea and finished it off with a Baklava. I almost shed a tear when I had that. It was excellent. Blessed with this experience
google avatar

Cohen A.

Yelp
Had lunch there today. There Atmosphere was upbeat, especially for lunch. The food was excellent. It was fresh the salad I had I could have fed a family of six. The coffee I had will keep me going for days and the Desserts were excellent. Had a fun time. All the people work in the area really sweet it's for lunch. It was perfect. P

Levent B.

Yelp
Tried out the İskender kebab here. And it was exceptional, tastes just like how it would be in Türkiye. Great service too, some of the waiters here are Turkish theirselves. They have basically all other Mediterranean cuisine too, from Turkish cuisine to Greek, Balkan, Middle Eastern, etc. They also got Turkish drinks such as the yogurt drink Ayran, Turkish tea, Turkish coffee, etc. Overall, great restaurant, I will definitely come back here. Update: Visited here at least 5 more times. The plain yogurt, Turkish coffee, and tzatziki sauce is so well made that it literally feels like you're in Türkiye or Greece. Homemade Gyro is original quality. Great and very friendly customer service and waiters. This restaurant became my favorite restaurant in Miami Beach. The place also has restrooms, and it's very clean along with the rest of the restaurant. Perfect ambiance with air conditioning and Turkish music.
google avatar

Sabra R.

Yelp
Very nice little place with both inside and sidewalk dining. Wait staff is friendly and efficient. Dodd was very good and reasonably priced. I had the Kafta - lamb Pattie's and my husband had gyro, Both dinners were tasty and filling! We also had appetizers and the awesome pistachio baklava!
google avatar

Pegah Y.

Yelp
I had beaf kabob which was one of the best I've had. For desert we had Baklava with Turkish coffee. Very nice staff and great warm service. They had outdoor setting that you can enjoy nice weather of Miami.
google avatar

Don S.

Yelp
The food is consistently yummy and the presentation is great. Don't miss the Lentil soup which is worth a visit for! The service is excellent and very attentive.
