If I could give more stars for all the above, food, service and atmosphere, I would. I went in and ordered the spinach pie plate, everything was so good. The lady working the register saw my hands were full and so she brought me my food outside where I sat. Cool vibe inside the restaurant too. Please stop in and give them a try if you like Greek food. The menu is posted in a picture on google.

Google
It was clean inside and cashier was friendly. Food was mediocre. It's a step below tzikkis but more expensive. The lentil soup was the best thing we got as far as flavor. Lamb kabobs are more like a sausage, that was dry and flavorless. Would never get again! Not impressed

Google
The falafels were amazing! Probably some of the best falafels I've had! The grape leaves were equally amazing! Very happy with those two! The salmon salad special that I got wasn't bad, but I felt it was a little bit small for the price of $25. The tiramisu that we had was amazing! The atmosphere was relaxing, and the customer service was excellent! Overall, definitely recommend this place if you're in the mood for Mediterranean. 🙂

Google
We had the Chicken Gyro Sandwich and Falafel Sandwich with fries and the tomato soup - everything was delicious! Can’t miss the fries, they were sooo good. Service was fantastic and the space is really nice with a relaxing atmosphere. We will be back soon!

Google
This restaurant is one of the best in all of Nashville. I have eaten there for at least 25 years. My kids also love it and it is their favorite restaurant. They love the lamb and rice plate. The staff also is friendly and always remembers to get them a spoon for their rice. (The spoon isn’t included with the knife, fork, and napkin on the place setting) Anyways great restaurant and I highly recommend it

Google
Ok place to have a quick work lunch, but pretty westernized. It's all counter service so make sure you check for empty tables before ordering if you want to eat in.

Google
Good spot for Mediterranean food and a quick lunch. Used to go to the location in Brentwood and the food here tastes the same. Good lentil soup and hummus. Many gluten-free options to choose from including quinoa tabouleh.

Shauna Collins Shrum

Google
The tzatziki sauce tasted like mayonnaise. The grilled salmon tasted rotten. I couldn’t finish it bc I was afraid of food poisoning. The pita was tough bc it had been microwaved. The Greek salad was mostly lettuce, hardly any tomatoes or cucumbers. The stuffed grape leaves were served first in a bowl with tzatziki sauce as if it is a finger food. This was the worst lunch in Green Hills. This lunch cost $39.

Yelp
I was craving a gyro in Green Hills, and this place hit the spot! The seating area inside isn't anything fancy, so it's a great choice for carryout.

Yelp
Food was great. We stopped here before hitting the lantern festival in Centennial Park this past weekend. Kids had pita and hummus, we had gyro and sandwiches + Greek salad. Ambience was light, not a ton of people but the staff was awesome!!! Prices were similar to other Mediterranean places in the Green Hills area. We will likely go again.

Yelp
Such amazing food. So fresh and the best flavors. Love the salads, chicken kabob plate and the spinach pies. Great service and super friendly staff.

Yelp
Ordered pick up after leaving work and this is my first time eating at Kalamatas. Hummus & pita, gyro plate w/ rice & salad. I dug into the hummus before leaving the parking lot. It was very creamy and really good. Really hit the spot! Waited until I got home (30 min drive) before trying the Gyro Plate. The rice was sooo good. It's just basmati rice but the texture and flavor was perfect. The gyro meat was pretty traditional, not as full of spice as some places i've had, but no complaints. Greek salad - it's my favorite anywhere I go. I asked for extra feta and they accommodated. The dressing was a tangy, delicious somewhat creamy burst of flavor. So very good. Next time, I will opt to eat in and order a greek salad w/ protein and hummus! Total for the plate and hummus $24 (hummus & pita was $6 and the rest was the main course plus extra taziki)....enough food for me to have two meals so I can't complain. Service was quick and very friendly.

Yelp
What an amazing dinner! This was a spur of the moment find and wow we hit the jackpot. The grape leaves were my favorite. But everything was delicious. Flavorful we even put some Greek music on. The hummus had flavor and the pita was fresh and fluffy. The salad dressing was ON POINT! The soup was soul soothing and left overs were just as delicious.
google avatar

Giuseppe C.

Yelp
The food here was fantastic. The customer service was really great! I loved the open seating, and the nice music in the background; it gave a nice ambience!

Ken K.

Yelp
Have eaten here a few times, and have yet to be disappointed. The food is consistently good, and service is always friendly, The restaurant is very clean

Yelp
My favorite Greek food in Nashville! Such nice people and such amazing food! I have been going here for years and love this place! I usually get a traditional gyro or a gyro plate or salad. The hummus is so good! It is always so fresh and flavorful. I've never had a meal here I didn't love. Such a perfect spot for lunch or a quiet dinner. The guy who runs this place always greets me when I come in and asks me how I am doing. I love him!
google avatar

Joe N.

Yelp
Food was ok. I had the Lamb gyro. Was just ok, nothing special. Too much sauce. Mango tea was tasty. Service was fast and courteous. Restaurant was clean and well kept. I will not be returning. Scale of 1-5. Flat 3

Yelp
I've patronized this restaurant for years and have always been quite pleased with the quality of the food. Today, however, I went in and ordered spanakopita appetizer to take to my hairdresser so I could have lunch. I have never been served something called spinach pie or spanakopita that was nothing more than spinach stuffed into a piece of pita bread this is not spinach pie and I'm extremely disappointed that kalamatas would pull such a dirty trick. spinach pie is made with phyllo dough not pita bread. And I might add if I weren't so hungry I'd take it back and get my money back because it isn't good either. Certainly not worth $6. shame on you.... shame shame shame

Yelp
So glad we found this place while visiting, It was the perfect quiet relaxed setting that I needed after a long day of travel. The staff was so friendly and accommodating and the food was beyond delicious. Definitely try the Tiramisu as well, so good!! We almost ordered second plates to go to take back to the hotel. Keeping this place on my list to visit when we go back.

Lorraine V.

Yelp
Simple, clean, friendly and fresh. I made a modified dish since I didn't want bread and they were cool. What more can you ask for from a small business? Thank you for having good Mediterranean Food in Green Hills.

Chad J.

Yelp
Terrible takeout experience. Three of 4 family members threw it out after a single bite. Worst Greek I've ever had, no exaggeration.
google avatar

Elsa G.

Yelp
I was convinced this would be great because it's from the same owners as Epice and Lola, which are both fantastic. This was not good. The traditional gyro had meat that tasted frozen. Definitely not fresh gyro meat cut from a vertical slab, as it should be. It tasted a little bland and simply not what authentic gyro meat should taste like. The fries were crisp but had an oily flavor as opposed to actual potato. Not so good. The baklava was so bad I only took one bite and threw it out. Instead of that sweet syrup you expect, it tasted like pure salted butter. I've never had a worse baklava in my life. The baba ghanoush was actually very tasty. It wasn't chunky like an authentic baba ghanoush but the flavor was very much on point. For $7 it was extremely small so I probably won't go back for it. What a disappointment. I really wanted to find a good Greek spot but the owners clearly don't care about this spot as they do their other amazing restaurants.

Yelp
I was shopping in Green hill and wanted mediterranean food. I saw Kalamata's restaurant and pull in. I'll give this restaurant a five star it's small plane, excellent wait staff. Food to savior. I ordered Lentil soup, today's special which was my Mahi-Mahi made to order(When I order fish I asked for it to be a little less cooked) (there is nothing worse than over cooked fish ) Greek salad and a garlic knot. I asked for hot sauce for my soup. I'm addicted to spice. Kalamata make their own. It was so very good. If ever in green Hills area give this restaurant a try. You will savior the taste all day.

Yelp
Maybe I am spoiled by Greek food after vacationing in Greece and having some decent Greek options in DC. For fast casual cuisine that don't offer sides, I feel the prices are a bit inflated for what you get and for the quality of food. Now, if you're looking to get something to-go and aren't seeking the bells and whistles, Kalamatas will hit the spot. However, if you want something more in tune with the prices and quality - this isn't where you go. I say this without offering you an alternative, but... give me a little time and I will find it. Kalamatas, I am glad to have tried you, but I won't go out of my way to try you again. Parking sucks. Be prepared.
google avatar

Yelp
Been coming here since I was and kid. They've gone up on their prices by about 50% and decreased the size of portions by 40% just in the last 6 months or so. They've remodeled the place in the last few years to look like a Chipotle, and I guess that justifies the higher prices/smaller portions? What a joke. Very sad because this place holds a lot of memories. The Baklava was stale (half a portion of what it used to be), the chicken was so tough it literally broke the plastic knife trying to cut it, and our side of hummus came with literally one single piece of pita bread. Spent $60 for two people to eat. Will never be back. This is "New Nashville" crap, the LA tourists can have it.
google avatar

Dayana V.

Yelp
Love getting their chicken kabob plate. Everything that comes with the plate is so good. Their steak kabob is also a great choice. Meat melts in your mouth. The place is always packed, for good reason. I've had their Greek salad once and it was really good as well. I've tried two of their soups (tortellini and a beef stew). Tortellini was better than the stew. If you like Mediterranean food, this is a good stop
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
The remodel - when they enclosed the kitchen they turned an open friendly place into a cold, sterile experience. Wally was great, made you feel at home and made sure your order was correct. Now, Wally's gone and it's different. I loved watching the kitchen work. They were so friendly and fun. Also, they seem to get the dine-in orders right but if you order to go you better look it over before you leave. Just sayin'. I think they closed the kitchen off so you can't see their staff, they replaced their flat ware and plates with awkward, trendy dishes and three tined forks, (not so good for salad.) raised the prices significantly and reduced the portions. It IS good food and always has been. There is no better hummus in Nashville, the vinaigrette is spectacular, the salad greens are fresh, the garlic knots alone are worth the trip. Everyone loves the stuffed salmon. But it feels like they're daring their patrons to keep eating there, I'm not going as often and that is sad. It was such a go-to meal for so many years. I definitely will go back, I'm getting hungry now writing about it. I just wish it hadn't changed.

Yelp
Loved, loved, loved this place! Spinach pie and hummus appetizers were wonderful! The tomato basil Florentine soup was out of this world (especially when enjoyed with a garlic knot). Friends really enjoyed the traditional and chicken gyros while I sat in reverent bliss savoring the obvious and subtle flavors of a Persian lamb kabob on a green salad. Outstanding! The last pieces of our feast were the chocolate mousse, tiramisu and baklava which we paired with fresh, strong coffee. I was surprised that we ordered at the counter; but, everything was brought out to the table to us. Customer service was welcoming, attentive and informative. Everything about our experience was terrific - just great.

Nancy B.

Yelp
Very disappointed in the baklava I had today...I've been a customer for years; never leave without baklava & have always loved it...not today- it was stale & dry.
google avatar

Mony S.

Yelp
Place was renovated, people still nice and friendly but portions were reduced and prices were increased. I think it is not good business, the owner should remember this is an area where University students, teachers, high school students go to eat. Owner's pricing the place like he has a five star restaurant! (not really)so he needs to get down from his cloud or he's going to lose customers. We ordered grilled salmon fillet, usually it's a thick healthy fillet, this time it was thinned out in 1/2, but overpriced $18 @ lunch.
google avatar

Christian S.

Yelp
Kalamatas recently changed their menu, which appears to be mostly just a raise in their prices. And while it's still very affordable ($9 for a grilled chicken pita instead of $5.95), it seems like their tactic for justifying the increase is providing a side of rice, which I didn't ask for, and was also pretty bland. The new in-restaurant menu doesn't designate side items like the old one did. The website menu appears to still offer side Greek salads (one of my favorites), but since I didn't see it in person, I didn't order. Next time, I'll ask. Still has the best Greek dressing in town...
google avatar

Peggy O.

Yelp
This is our go to restaurant prior to the movies at green hills. However, it had been awhile since we visited and tonight it was an incredibly pleasant surprise. Grilled shrimp salad delish. The lettuce extremely crisp and fresh and the salad dressing was the perfect compliment. My hubby had the other special which was a lamb Kebob. Surprisingly, it was so much thicker than the typical kebob, making it cooked to perfection. A solid medium rare and amazingly tender. Forgot to order the garlic knots - that is the best way to go with the bread.
google avatar

Not A.

Yelp
Far too much tzatiki sauce, not enough meat. No sides, just the pita sandwich. Was it good, yes, but missing seasoning. I would go back and just order something else. They offer you tap water which is strange, instead of bottled. Parking is terrible, FYI.
google avatar

Jill-ann P.

Yelp
A solid 3 if 3 is meh. The chicken gyro sandwich was flavorless. Typically gyro meat (chicken or traditional) is cooked on a vertical rotisserie and carved off in thin slices. This had giant chunks of chicken meat which made for a different experience as the chicken to sauce/ingredient ratio was off, disturbingly so. They cut the top off the pita and stuffed it inside giving the impression of abundance. The lettuce and vegetables went in first with the meat on top. So after those first few bites you're left with just meh lettuce and veggies. They taziki was even flavorless...and I don't know how you accomplish that given the ingredients therein. The decor is rustic but nice for a fast-casual.
google avatar

James E.

Yelp
This is basically Green Hills in a nutshell. Overpriced and under delivered. The food is inauthentic and Americanized. I feel like I'm in a Greek Starbucks. Also the atmosphere feels like my grandma's house. The only people who eat here are yuppies and soccer moms who think they are cultured because they eat at the local Greek restaurant. Keep looking if you want real Mediterranean.
google avatar

Harmony C.

Yelp
Eh. That's how I felt about the food. Not delicious, but not terrible. The portions are huge, so you get what you pay for. The rice and salad were tasty but my chicken and potatoes shared the same seasoning and they were both over seasoned. The pita bread came out of a plastic bag so you had some grocery store pita on your plate. Eh. Still in the hunt for some good Greek!
google avatar

Amanda F.

Yelp
I have been going to Kalamata's for over 16 years. Food quality is indeed second to none. If you visited before the renovation, you remember the bustling place it once was. The food offerings ranged and there were more options. What you're reading about the redesign being cold and stagnant and smaller food portions are correct. The food is still amazing though. Definitely try the tomato soup, Greek salad, Tuna pita and chicken kabob place (my fave). You will need to request more taziki sauce. The portion of sauce is indeed very small.
google avatar

Amanda D.

Yelp
The website has barely any information on it- had to google a menu, which I found at viewmenu.com. Apparently that menu is about 4 years old. They still offer the same food, but the prices are A LOT higher now. So when I picked up the food I had to pay about $5 more than expected. I understand that the menu was not technically on their website- but I asked them about it, and they are aware of it- yet have not done anything to try and get it updated. She just said, "yeah I've been bugging my partner about it for awhile now". Super frustrating. I may work in green hills, but I can't afford to live here- which means paying $5 more than expected was a big deal to me. And they did nothing to try and make me feel better about it. Sorry- I'm not going to be eating there again..
google avatar

Kim H.

Yelp
Yum! I started with their lentil soup, which is vegan and DELICIOUS. I want it right now, actually. I got the tuna sandwich too, which was so good. It was different--not the usual heavy-mayo tuna salad. And it was served in a pita pocket. The side of basmati rice was surprisingly tasty. I got another sandwich to go--the falafel one--and ate that later. Also good! This would be a favorite of mine if I lived in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Kalamata's is a Greek and Mediterranean casual restaurant located near Green Hills mall. They have a good reputation for being a great place for a quick cheap bite. I prefer getting something here at Kalamata's over any other fast food, because Kalamata's is really just as fast and the food is infinitely better, and the same price! They have lunch specials that are really a bargain. I can't really comment on the authenticity, I've never been to Greece... but I think their food is full of flavor. I am a fan of the falafel here. That's what I always like to order. Get over to Kalamata's for lunch, try to come early or late to beat the rush though.
google avatar

Ben G.

Yelp
There are a few places I've been, where you can sense the owners presence. sometimes this can be a little creepy, sometimes it is Awesome! This is the latter type of place. Who knows if it was actually the owner, it doesn't matter, but their personality carries the place. Kalamatas had a line out the door when I visited for lunch. It didn't take long to see why. Great atmosphere, and fresh food being prepared behind a beautiful counter right before your eyes. And running the whole show a guy calling out orders for customers and staff..."no, no, pay me when you're done, Hey You what do you want??" the line moved quickly, the drink cases had unique beverages from around the world...and the food was Fantastic! I had grilled shrimp skewers on a fresh salad bed and a garlic knot. Definitely the freshest and best Mediterranean food I've had in town. More of a lunch joint than a nice sit down dinner spot but maybe they change that up and have table service after the rush.

Laura T.

Yelp
Thank you so much for your discount to medical workers right now!! Incredibly generous of the company. It was our first time eating here. Chicken pocket was STUFFED and their zaatar fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Salad dressing incredibly flavorful! Will be back!
google avatar

Caroline G.

Yelp
I used to love this place and their prices. However, after the remodel I was very disappointed. The chicken plate was very overpriced and the chicken was just awful. I was unable to eat it. I've gotten it before but they clearly changed a lot. For 2 of us our meal was $40. We used to be able to eat here for $20. Won't be coming back unfortunately.
google avatar

Hannah L.

Yelp
Stopped in this afternoon for a quick lunch with my husband. We ordered the sampler and and a chicken gyro! This spot has by far the best hummus tabouleh, and grape leaves I've been able to find in Nashville!

Lauren N.

Yelp
Closing an hour early on a Saturday? Really, y'all? We weren't even given an explanation. Through the glass door, an employee simply made the slice-across-the-throat gesture, indicating it was a wrap for the night.
google avatar

Kina L.

Yelp
Definitely a fan of both the quality and service here! We have now been twice for a quick bite pre-Regals and have always been pleased with the speed of service and the quality of our food. I've tried both the chicken gyro and the traditional and every time am in shock at how much meat is in a $5.95 gyro. It definitely looks fresh and tastes amazing. The pita is always soft and fluffy and the veggies always crisp. Great for quick bite without sacrificing quality!
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
Hey Nashville you can have a fantastic meal. Prompt service and amazing food. A great choice for a great meal.
google avatar

Melody P.

Yelp
Had a falafel wrap here a few years ago. Not bad, so tried it again today. No flavor, except extreme saltiness! The falafels & pita = no flavor. I was hoping the tzatziki sauce would pull it all together, nope! It had no flavor either. It wasn't like the sauce you'd imagine, but more like a thin tasteless glue. Only good part about the wrap were the fresh diced cucumber & tomato, too bad that was underneath the icky white sauce that doesn't even deserve to be called tzatziki : (
google avatar

Veena M.

Yelp
Great service, excellent food! We were visiting Nashville and lucky to have found this place for lunch!
google avatar

Bernard M.

Yelp
As I've written before, my standards for Mediterranean food are high. This didn't come close to clearing the hurdle. Went here for lunch based on the reviews. I was disappointed with everything but the ice tea and the prices -- otherwise I would have given this just one star. Had the lamb gyros. "Meat" (if it was indeed meat) was mushy, unidentifiable and not very tasty. However the biggest disappointment was the tsaziki: flavorless. Also, the bathroom layout is a bit weird. Overall, not going back and cannot recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Ryan B.

Yelp
The food here is great. This is a wonderful gyro! The location is sub-par on decor though. It's very, very plain. With a little effort and a couple of hundred dollars, it could be brought up to par with the other restaurants in the area.
google avatar

Culver L.

Yelp
I think the place is pretty good. I got the lamb gyro sandwich, and it came in a fresh pita pocket that was puffy and lightly toasted. The lamb strips was plentiful and juicy, while there was an abundance of lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers. They added a good amount of sauce, enough that it definitely added a good flavor to the ingredients, but not too much that it was drowning the gyro. The sandwiches are pretty affordable for the quality they provide, around $6, but I do wish they were bigger. The plates are up at around $10, but they look well presented. Everything is made pretty quickly. If I find myself in the area again and need a quick lunch, I would consider returning.
google avatar

Raajaram G.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I decided to try Kalamata's last night at around 7:30. The guy at the counter asked us if we're ready to order even before we had the chance to look at the menu properly, not once but multiple times. We ordered 2 lamb gyros, a side order of roasted potatoes and the tabouleh. The potatoes came out extremely fast and were lukewarm at best. Either they were premade, and "microwaved to order" or were just sitting on a hot plate. Not something I'd expect from any restaurant. The tabouleh was SOUR - like salad dunked in a bottle of fish sauce sour. We decided to tell the guy upfront our issues with the tabouleh but all we got out of him was "This is our recipe. This is the way we make it. It's fine if you don't like it, but this is how we make it". I agree I have no idea what authentic tabouleh tastes like, or how to make it, but I have tasted GOOD tabouleh in the past, and this was far from it. I pity the people who've eaten tabouleh only at this establishment because they're really missing out. The gyros were pedestrian at best, under-seasoned and most of all under-sauced. The veggies were on one side of the pita, the meat on the other - so you'd never get a mouthful of veggies+meat and only one side of the pocket had the sauce. Suspecting another "This is how we sauce our gyros. This is our recipe" moment, we decided to finish our food ASAP. Finally, the worst offense was that the guy starts closing up shop while we're still eating. Really? I've no idea how this place got 4 stars on yelp, but there are way better restaurants in Nashville for Mediterranean food.
google avatar

Han S.

Yelp
Expensive but the food is not the best- the area is very clean though and the service nice. I think that if I was going to have a salad, then it shouldn't cost what it does here. The hummus is all right tho
google avatar

Nicholas B.

Yelp
I don't usually write reviews but Kalamatas really earned it. There are plunty of food options for mediteranian or gyro style food. Kalamatas is really over priced, the portion sizes are small, and they nickle and dime you for every little thing. Don't be surprised to come in next time and be charged for napkins! The food is just okay, I have been to both locations and the owners are complete jerks, my food came out burnt and they told me they didn't see anything wrong with it. Furthermore, from a customer service or satisfaction stand point at either their greenhills or brentwood location they don't care if you are happy with your food or experience, the response that I received was "you have choices go somewhere else, we have plunty of customers". They clearly do not care about customers, so SAVE YOURSELF TIME AND MONEY and go to any other gyro place. I recommend mediteranian cuisine in brentwood or Tazikies in greenhills, they take care of you and make sure you have a great dining experience.
google avatar

Shawn M.

Yelp
This place has gone way, way down the drain. Mainly due to poor management and staff. The food is overpriced and poor quality. There is way too much competition in Green Hills for this establishment to be serving sub-par food.

Dana B.

Yelp
I love this place!!! The food is great and the service is amazing. Thank you for going above and beyond Greg (my mother in law was so happy). We will definitely be ordering here again. Thank you again. Go here if you want great Greek food!!

Yelp
After a hard day of moving things into my new condo I wanted to pick something up. It had to be close and I wanted something different so I decided to give Kalamata's a try. I saw they had take out so I took off down the street to check it out. First off, probably a big mistake to roll up in there in my "moving clothes" on a Saturday night at about 630pm because the place was packed out with diners that were dining in. There was a guy playing guitar and tons of people hanging out, eating, and drinking wine. Note to self, they serve wine. To order you get in line and walk up to the counter where the workers are plating food. A little confusing as there was no menu before you get up there and since it was so packed the guys were a bit impatient. So I ordered on the fly since I already know what I like at Mediterranean restaurants. Lamb gyro plate with rice, a side order of hummus. Then you step aside and...wait? I wasn't sure where to stand. Was a free for all with people going to sit down, people loitering around, people everywhere. I perused the soda case and picked out a black cherry and a cream soda that looked great. Then I tried to stay out of the way. You pay after you eat, if you dine in, or....whenever you see your food come up if you are taking out? I saw some takeout things over by the register, so that's when I walked up to pay. There was no indication that it was mine, just thought it might be. Super confusing! But I paid and even threw in a piece of baklava for good measure. So the food! Hummus was good. Pita was fresh and tasty. Lamb was more in thick, small strips (someone said julienned, perhaps that's it) which was a bit weird but it had a good flavor. It didn't knock my socks off but definitely good although I think I like the place in the farmer's market a bit better for gyro. Rice was really good. And the greek salad was fresh and the dressing was very good and seemed homemade. The baklava was a sticky sweet treat - definitely add this on to your order when you pay! Overall a really good place for takeout. Perhaps now that I know what the ordering process is I will be more comfortable next time! And I will definitely try the falafel since everyone raves about it in their reviews!
