Let me start by saying what a gorgeous interior!!! I love being able to throw my birthday celebration at Kama Bistro. I was able to have 25 - 30 individuals in the room (depending on the time of my party, 5-9 pm, and people coming in and out). It is a great space and is very cute. By arranging with the owner ahead of time, I could make a reservation for a private room on the left half of the restaurant. Other restaurant customers could stay in the main room instead, giving me the privacy to host and have activities in the secondary room. Eric, the restaurant owner, is a lovely gentleman. I've known his personality before Kama, and I can speak to his character and kindness in the other restaurants he was involved with. He listens to your requests. He tries to accommodate or exceed expectations, and his staff are the same. They are friendly and nice people. I was comfortable, and more importantly, my guests were comfortable. Thank you for allowing me to have a special and very memorable birthday. You deserve the best, and I wish you a lot of luck and prosperity in the new year... oh wait, it's more effective if I wish upon the lunar new year. Have a great week, guys!

New menu alert! Essentially a new restaurant so def try it out if you live in the area, for some fusion cuisine from a good hearted management :) Don’t be fooled by photos of their old menu, you won’t find anymore Japanese food including sushi here. They revamped their concept so 80% of the menu is new dishes, which are mostly creative, fusion dishes ranging from mac n cheese to loco moco to curry katsu. We tried the Scottish egg truffle fried rice and veggie ramen. Won’t give review here since we have feedback to the kitchen and I’m sure they will make improvements upon them. But will be back to try other dishes! One general suggestion would be to have more veggie options. They have affordable breakfast/brunch bentos as well! The management is so friendly, they manage the two DASH Japanese restaurants and this one is gonna be a different concept. Kudos to their courage and hard work for keeping this location alive!

Probably the best service I’ve ever had in the Bay Area. Incredibly sweet waitress, very attentive. The food was fresh and flavorful. The price was reasonable, even on the lower side compared to a lot of places. The hot sausage omelet was stuffed full of meat and grilled onions, definitely not a small portion so I will be having the second half for dinner this evening. I will be back to explore more of the menu, probably dinner next time which they just added.

This place is so good! They changed their name to Izakaya Dash. The staff were wonderful, the food was delicious, and the ambiance was great. The Bacon Mochi skewers were unique and yummy. We got bento box, chirashi don, and salmon tacos as well. Will return!

So happy that they have reopened! They have changed the name to Izakaya Dash due to some reshuffle of ownership, but glad to find out that the quality and taste remained the same. The only complaint is that with the new thick cushion, the bench along the wall becomes a bit too tall and awkward to sit in compared to the height of the table and the chair across the table.

Really great tasking food, very friendly staff and a sociable atmosphere. On top of that, the menu has a lot of variety and very interesting combinations of flavor. I'm super grateful that for their chicken ramen bowl, then gave us the choice of pork or soy broth since most places only offer the pork option. I'm definitely coming back again!

Great restaurant!! New and reinvented! Come get some good Asian fusion with an American eatery twist. Choices for everyone! I’m grateful this place is open so close to my home, even their cafe coffee items are great!

Newish brunch restaurant in Soma. We got rose latte and hot white chocolate, breakfast waffle, Loco Moco (a beef patty dish with egg and gravy over rice), and pork Katsu Curry with toast. It is my impression that the restaurant is understaffed. The service is painfully slow. It took us 15min before the waiter came to us to take our order, despite there were only 4 tables in the restaurant, and it takes a while every time we try to get their attention to help us. Service could be improved. The food is decent, overall it is a 7/10 for me: The waffle and Curry Katsu are pretty standard, 8/10 The beef patty with egg and gravy over rice dish is way too salty. It is an interesting combination but I don't think they quite work out the chemistry among the ingredients yet, the salty gravy kind of ruined it. It is a 5.5/10 for me.

Love this place! They did a menu refresh and have a Bistro menu of classic American and Japanese. From eggs , waffles , pancakes , BLT, burgers , Katsue, Loco MoCo, Territaki, Sweet Chili Chicken, Gyoza , Fried Oyster , Yaki Scallops ....latte and oak milk they have it . This place is a hybrid with the nicest servers. It's a small shop that also Cj's accommodate mid sized groups. This neighborhood food destination has a Japanese ambience and chill vibes which match the eclectic SOMA and right on Folsom Street! The word is out this place has good food and great for lunch or dinner! I ordered Chicken Katsu and Onion rings so why not . A great place to indulge your tastes buds!

Visited SF for our daughter's wedding last week. We stopped at KAMA for breakfast and what a great call that was!! First time there. Our waitress was one of the most amazing people we have met! When she learned about the wedding she brought out mimosas to celebrate! So attentive, thoughtful, and the food was delicious. The coffee was great, and it kept flowing. please visit this place keep it in business. It is truly awesome. Very thankful parents of the bride

Newish place? This restaurant is located in the same spot where the old Kama sushi was. Ordered take out in person, the servers were really friendly and gave me some hot tea while I waited. The menu looked pretty extensive and seem similar to the old Kama sushi one. They have lunch specials as well. I ordered 3 sushi rolls and the geso fries. - geso fries was tasty and came with a teriyaki sauce - august roll was good. The ikura on top was well seasoned but not too salty - also had the dragon and California rolls which good as well. Price was reasonable as well for SF and the Soma neighborhood. Will be back again

I got takeout delivered to me so I can't speak to ambience or service, but the sushi was solid. Not spectacular, but similar to my neighborhood local sushi place back home. Pretty good. I had the poke salad and a couple of rolls. Fish tasted fresh and some of the roll ingredients were interesting (but not mind blowing). I did feel like they were just a touch on the pricey side - one of the rolls I ordered was $20, and I'm used to rolls being more around the $15 mark. It may be unfair, but I was expecting sushi in SF to be better than what I can get in Austin, what with being a lot less landlocked and all - not what I experienced.

The ambience and service is great! We ordered the salmon steak, loco moco with beef, and butter scallops. Salmon was definitely packed with flavor and did not disappoint. The loco moco was a huge portion and had a runny egg. It tasted as great as it looked. The scallops might've been the best item we had. Lots of scallops with asparagus and guessing from the name a delicious butter based sauce. Our server was really attentive with water and checking in on us. Overall, really happy with our visit here and would definitely recommend it!

Amazing breakfast menu. I had the breakfast in a jar which consisted of 3 jars. One with a perfectly poached egg served over the creamiest mashed potatoes. 2nd jar, the tastiest buttered toast points and the 3rd was fresh fruit. There are so many more items I want to try. The neighborhood really needed a breakfast spot. They also have an incredible looking lunch menu.

Very pleasant late breakfast. They have a very broad menu beginning with Raman ending with Benedict eggs and anything in between. The fish was a little over cooked. Yes, it was delicious. Tea was very pleasant.

Super cute Japanese restaurant that has fantastic food and the best staff. Perfect for a cozy lowkey date night or a solo date!! They will have happy hour soon too!!! Can even bring large parties they have a separate section for big tables. Love this place :)

my friend had her birthday party at kama bistro. the staff was so nice and patient with us. I ordered Scotland egg with truffle fried rice and it tasted delicious. I love the smell of truffle with egg.

The fried pork sandwich was absolutely amazing, would highly recommend. Has a nice crisp friend texture with a sweet and creamy Cole slaw. The onion rings were friend in tempura batter and I don't think I'll ever want a 'traditional' onion ring again.

Service is really fast and accurate! Kimchi fried rice will be my go to for take out.

They are indeed open. We just had a terrific lunch. Breakfast and lunch open. Delicious fries!

Izakaya Dash is still Kama but 2.0 . We focus more on Japanese comfort foods like appetizers, curry rice ,ramenand bento boxes. Yet still keeping our customers favorite rolls from before . Please give us a try if you're in the neighborhood .

My first time here and it was a great experience. The food was really good and the employees were very attentive. The overall atmosphere was nice and comfy. This is one of my favorite places to eat at!

Place looked amazing BUT BE CAREFUL! they served me molded fruit on top of my whole meal and I didn't notice till I was basically done with my food
