"If we learnt anything from binge-watching The Affair and our secondary school debate team, it’s that there are two sides to every story. And that’s true for a lot of restaurants as well. For every tasty dish, there’s a waiter who seems to get their kicks from giving you the stink eye. For every shiny, charming setting, there’s a cocktail menu that reads like your shopping list the week you turned eighteen. And for every excellent, mop-clean Indian dish at Kama By Vineet there’s the fact that its setting causes a fair few problems. Just like our mothers taught us, we’ll start with the good things first. The things that make it the kind of place you countdown your return to like you’ve got a monumental crush on their chocomosa. Yes, a chocomosa. In case you’ve never had to decode a celebrity couple’s name, that’s a chocolate samosa. It’s great. But still not a touch on their savoury chickpea chaat samosa. Or the pistachio lamb chops that come with a saffron mash we’d ghost a spud for any day. It’s the kind of meal where you already want to make another booking before dessert even hits the table. And you should, because everything from the rich butter chicken to the creamy lemongrass prawns are the kind of keepers you’ll perform a seasonal Piccadilly line pilgrimage for when you remember just how good they are. photo credit: Giulia Verdinelli But. Yes, the inevitable but. And it’s a big one. Kama By Vineet is a little 26-seater next to a bunch of other mini restaurants inside Harrods’ dining hall. It’s like a millionaires market where the prices are high, the oysters are cold, and the jaw-dropper ceiling is more royal crypt than restaurant hall. It’s sophisticated and surprisingly intimate once you’re seated, but the dining hall closes when Harrods does - a PG, pre-watershed 9pm. How are you expected to finish work, three courses, and a bottle of Chablis before Channel 4’s even allowed to show a single nipple? Last orders are called for at 8.30, and if timing isn’t on your side, you can end up playing favourites between the last of your peshwari naan and your dessert. Plus, running two floors to the closest toilet whilst Hulk Hogan’s clone shouts that “the shop has already closed” makes for a pretty shit digestif. Now over to the defence. None of that would really matter if this was the kind of place that was easy to leave. But it isn’t. This is the kind of rich, pricey meal you want a solid, three hour sitting to celebrate, and then, fuck it, another mango lassi after that. You want to be able to enjoy it with zero pressure and no time limit over your head. You want to get comfy on the banquette seating and look like your own stomach is serenading you with Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien mid-biryani. Because that’s how tasty the food is. And if you come here for lunch, or can live with an early curfew because of that 7am jiu-jitsu class, you’ll have a fantastic meal. That’s not up for debate. Food Rundown photo credit: Giulia Verdinelli Samosa Chickpea Chaat When you first see this arrive on your table you might think, is this what it would look like if Frank Gehry designed samosas? But as soon as you try them you won’t care what they look like. Or that you can’t afford that lifesize polar bear on the toy floor. Or anything really. These are really excellent. Onion-Spinach-Cheese Bhaji We’re not proud of the way we pulled these apart like hyenas with a mozzarella fetish. But, importantly, we also don’t regret it. photo credit: Giulia Verdinelli Pistachio Lamb Chops, Saffron Mash, Pomegranate Kernels If this dish was a band, the lamb chops would definitely be their enigmatic frontman. But make no mistake, it wouldn’t be a hit without the back-up of the pomegranate, pistachio, and the absolute zesty goodness that is this saffron mash. A must-order. photo credit: Giulia Verdinelli Coconut-Lemongrass Prawns Bright enough to be seen from space. Tasty enough to be ordered by us every time we come here. Get it with the saffron pulao and you’ll have enough to share for two. Butter Chicken Smoother than Leonardo DiCaprio chatting up a supermodel on a yacht. Great for sharing and great for dipping some freshly baked naan in. photo credit: Giulia Verdinelli Lobster Chettinad Biryani The lobster, spices, and rice in this biryani are all doing good things for us, but at £48 we’d hoped there would be more to share. Honestly, catch us on a day where we skipped breakfast and we could happily eat this as a main in one sitting. Garlic Naan If you sit at the counter here you can watch the chefs bake some very decent peshwari naan, but its garlic sibling is hands down our favourite. photo credit: Giulia Verdinelli Original Chocomosa, Bebinca, Kapi Kulfi One of our favourite food mashups of all time. Shoutout to the Lego shaped bebinca too." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

The restaurant is located inside Harrods. It gets busy at times. We were seated promptly and menu provided instantly. They serve halal meat. The menu is nice and small. The customer service is fantastic. I mean they do charge 15% service charge so I did expect the service to be top notch. The food however was disappointing. I've definitely had better food at other restaurants. The seekh kebab was good but no wow factor. The chicken tikka was not soft enough. The butter chicken curry flavour was outstanding but the chicken pieces needed to be soft. I loved the fact that they used breast pieces throughout. The chai tea was good but you can clearly see its dark in colour and that is how they serve it. Overall, not worth the money at all and definitely won't be returning. Nothing special in all honesty. The wet wipes they provided at the end seemed like its from ebay. At least have a good branded one.

Agreed it's in Harrods, so was expected to be expensive to begin with. But once we got seated,.realized how the ambience was like within a food hall. Service was almost snooty, trying to vibe with the price points I guess. The food was very disappointing. The chicken tikka was 3 hard pieces of breast meat not well seasoned either. Worked out to almost 8 pounds per small piece. The butter chicken was not good or tasty either. The seekh was just about ok. The veg gravy dish was just as average. Overall for the price point, do yourself a favour and save the money. This is a rip off.

We visited Kama for dinner. The restaurant is located in the Harrods food court on GF. The ambience is nice, very lively and the food court itself is very impressive with decorated tiles. For food we had the samosa chickpea chaat, char-grilled mustard prawns, red pepper chicken tikka, and for mains we had the butter chicken, mushroom kofta-saag served with saffron pulao and naan bread. The food was very tasty and at a well cooked high. We were quite surprised reading some of the reviews which described the food here as ‘nothing special’ as we indeed found the food quite special. The prawns were probably the least impressive dish but were still good. The butter chicken and mushroom saag were just amazing and the naan bread was so so good. We generally found the whole experience really good, the staff that looked after us were polite and helpful. On reflection we are hesitant to give it 5stars based on the prices… The food was good-yes, but the prices are just very high… We would probably be back probably for a special occasion.

Delicous food and friendly staff. We got mango lassi, the chilli chicken (my fave), the thali, and also ordered some garlic butter tandoori naan bread which is made fresh in front of you. Great experience.

First of all for all the Vinnet Bhatia fans; this is not the exact place you would be eyeing if you have experienced his hospitality at Dubai, Mumbai or Riyadh. It’s in a corner of the giant food hall in HARRODS. A corner in one of the most luxurious shopping location. Fair enough. But then ambience is only a little part of dining experience. Coming to food - Chicken tikka and Anarkali chicken curry are absolutely recommended. Dal Makhni was genuine. Cheese Naan is worth trying- not regularly available at Indian outlets. Londoners and tourists coming to London definitely deserve a exclusive Vineet experience. The wait goes on…..

I had the Kama Thali. The chicken curry, dhaal and kebab were great, everything else was a bit mediocre unfortunately. The mango lasi, which cost around £7, wasn’t very good. Also, the food arrived warm, instead of piping hot! Service was fast and friendly, no complaints there.

Went for Lunch with my Wife and Sister. We loved the service and ambience. Special menu was suggested by chef and manager, being vegetarians. The starters were amazing and had authentic taste of Indian food and Spices. Main course had a variety of dishes from North and South India. Dal makhni and Cheese Naan is a must try. Dessert was Indian Kulfi server and decorated with berries. Chef Baskar, was very polite and visited our table to inquire about the taste and experience. We loved the overall experience. And it is a must try restaurant if you are living in or visiting London.

Excellent. Food and service were superb. Went there for a special occasion and we couldn't be more pleased when we left. Butternut chicken is a must, and the lamb chops with the saffron's mash blew my mind. A common dish as the samosa is unlike any other, so tasty with that sauce...And do not forget to try the King Cobra beer.

Yelp
I was visiting London and had to give Kama a try. Interestingly, Kama is owned by the world's first Michelin starred Indian chef, Vineet Bhatia. I found it to be very good. Menu had an array of different Indian entrees featuring traditional items like butter chicken. Also, they have anari chicken masala -- which tasted slightly spicy and featured pomegranate. My son said the mango lassi was very good as well. I would recommend Kama for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or have a memorable meal.

Yelp
Best Indian food we have ever had! My partner and I had just gotten to London, it was our first night there and I wanted to head to Harrod's for some light shopping and sightseeing. We were pretty hungry and I knew the food halls were legendary there so we checked it out. One of the staff let us know that there were different types of food and to just let the hostess know what we were in the mood for and we drifted towards the Indian food and I am so glad we did!!! We got the kefta starter, chicken biryani, and lamb korma. I also tried the lychee pomegranate mocktail which was sooo good. Every single item we ordered was so good!!! We were so full by the end of dinner we didn't even try any dessert, which I'm sure would've been phenomenal. If you can try this restaurant, please do! The staff were friendly and helpful with any questions we had, so a big thank you to them!

Yelp
We had a great quick lunch here last month. The cocktails are really quite nice (I had the Margarita and my wife had the Chennai-Tini). We split the Chaat, Bhaji and Tikka which were all great bites. Id highly recommend it for a quick Indian bite

Yelp
Expensive but excellent. See my food pics for more of my thoughts. If you can handle legit spicy you have to get the samosa! I didn't try it but the Biryani looked amazing and the person next to me said it was amazing

Yelp
Definitely has some of the "best I've ever had" foods, including: samosa chikpea chaat, Seekh Kabob, and Onion-Spinach bhaji (fritters). The chicken tikka is also delicious with the right amount of spice kick, and the drinks (Bombay Lemonade and Chennai-Tini) do a great job of cooking your mouth down.

Yelp
Harrods has greatly improved their dining experience after a long day of shopping and navigating around the confusion layout of harrods it's nice to know you now have a number of high end dining options to finish the day/evening. You always get a sense of grandeur but also comfort and top level of service and Kama by Vineet fits in well with the harrods brand. Having been to most of Vineet's restaurants and having the pleasure to meet in dubai (hope to meet again soon) it's always good to see a chef expand and do so well but also offer something different in each location. Food was fresh and good variety on the Thali. The Kebab was finely minced and hot and spicy so may not be to everyone's taste. There was not many mocktail options and something they may want to expand on in the future as well as maybe have more dessert options as well. Food was delicious but my concern is the cost as so many options available in Mayfair now which offer much better value and still at the top end with well known chefs. I think time's have changed and you need to show something such as a show or signature exclusive dishes and still offer value for money now to keep people coming in. But welcome an invite to review again. As consistently is so important these days in this industry.

Yelp
We visitef the one in Harrods! We had been looking forward to it for months! My god what a dissapointment! Ridiculously overpriced moderate food. Staff are rude. Three of us squeezed on a seat at a round table. Was uncomfortable. Jad the chicken tikka starter which was not good and with a tiny bot of mint sauce, when asked for more was said it will be an extra £1. Had to ask three times for water. Only one type of rice. Nothing for children. Food wasnt even piping hot. My mum had butter chicken which was spicy and she did not enjoy. Was honestly one of the worst meals. The manager walks around as miserable as anything. She knew we was not happy and not enjoying the meal but she couldnt care less. We asked for the service charge to be removed. I was strongly advise checkinng the menu if you are still considering dining here because it is very limited with mone if the favourites.
