5 Best Day Trips from Tokyo | Condé Nast Traveler

"A downright steal in the off-season, this hotel's biggest selling point is the wow-factor view of Sagami Bay and Mount Fuji. It may not be the height of fashion that it was when it opened in 1995, but it's well-kept. Every single room has a view of the bay, and with a pool, golf course, and three restaurants, this is the kind of hotel you never have to leave. Lounge in your slippers and robe while you watch the sun set behind Mount Fuji." - Brandon Presser

Kamakura Prince

"How did it strike you on arrival? It's all about the views of Sagami Bay and Mount Fuji. It may not be the height of fashion that it was when it opened in 1995, but it's well-kept. What’s the crowd like?Convention-goers, wedding guests, and middle-aged to older couples. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Every single room has a view of the bay. Light sleepers beware: some are closer to the train tracks. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The beds are fine, if a little firm, but not the main draw. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?Lounge in your slippers and robe while you watch the sun set behind Mount Fuji! Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Big bathrooms with a separate shower and tub, and a fancy Japanese toilet. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Free and fast Room service: Worth it?With a pool, golf course, and three restaurants, this is the kind of hotel you never have to leave. For 2500JPY ($23), the breakfast buffet is pricey (especially when you can get a decent coffee and sandwich from a convenience store for less than $5), but maybe it's worth it to stay put and relax. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.Have I mentioned the view? What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?I mean, seriously, the view! A note about the pool: there's a strict no-tattoo policy to keep Yakuza from harassing guests and management, a real bummer if your tattoos can't be covered by a swim suit or rash guard. Bottom line: worth it, and why? In the off-season it feels like a bargain for such a stunning view, but high-season prices can seem to high for the outdated look." - Hannah Kirshner

I woke up finding a bedbug on my bed. There’s rashes on my arm. The only thing the hotel offers was to Change my room. I asked them if they can get me medication for my rash, and clean the clothes in my luggage cause I don’t know whether it’s infected with the bugs, they said they can’t do that. Anyone that dealt with bedbug knows how scary that thing is and how hard it’s to get rid of them! I paid $480 for the room. And they only offer to refund 10k Japanese yen. Is this a joke? They said they have to do an investigate to see whether the bug is harmful in order to offer a refund. I’m disgusted. Does not recommend!

Quiet hotel with outstanding views of the bay, Enoshima Island, and Mt. Fuji. Rooms are quite spacious but are definitely dated. Would recommend if you're planning to visit Enoshima Island or Kamakura.

There's a shuttle from the station, but it's also close enough that you can walk. The walk is not bad either as you can see the enoden passing right next to you. If you're into trains, the railway crossing makes for a good picture. I got a bit annoyed by their pricing. Even if you book a room with them you'll have to pay 1000jpy per person per day to use the pool, and 1500jpy per hour for the umbrella, or 3500jpy for half a day.

The most amazing hotel I've ever been to in Japan. Fantastic view from the rooms, splendid service (all staff members are extremely helpful), etc. Very good breakfast and the cafe at lobby is open until the evening. At the lobby there is an interesting horizontal elevator into the beach direction — there are a chapel, conference halls and wedding space. The best place in Kamakura to relax.

Bad experience. The room has weird odor. The equipments are really old. The location is a bit away from the station. Btw we asked for the breakfast time was from 7-10, the reception did not tell us last enter time was 9.30. Indifferent service attitude, did not feel welcomed at all. Overpriced and low quality. Stay away.

I suspect that the staff at Kamakura Prince Hotel *stole* my sunglasses. I visited Kamakura from Tokyo for a weekend and I stayed at the Kamakura Prince Hotel for 1 night from Oct 19 to Oct 20 2024 (Reservation Number: 31483B0785951, Room #311) and it was a great hotel. However, one hour after I checked out, I realized I forgot my sunglasses in the hotel room. The lady at the reception was very kind and went to look for it but didn't find anything. I asked if I could go search the room myself and, while she let me, the room had already been cleaned. I asked if my partner could join us to search the room but we couldn't find the sunglasses. I asked if the staff could check the laundry basket or the trash and she said she cannot find anything. Near the end, I concluded that it was my fault for misplacing my sunglasses. On my way home to Tokyo, I remembered that I had taken a photo of the room just before checking out and saw that my sunglasses *were in the photo of the room just before I checked out, providing evidence that the sunglasses were indeed inside the room before the cleaning ladies came to clean the room*. I therefore believe that the sunglasses were taken by the staff member(s). In the picture below, the sunglasses are in a white case on the arm rest of the chair. I highly doubt that the staff believed this sunglasses case was trash and threw it out, leading me to believe that someone among the cleaning staff or the reception lady intentionally took them for themselves. A very disappointing experience for me - I hope that the hotel can investigate this and let me know how they can make it up to me.

We booked a couple room for 2 nights. The hotel is located a stone’s throw to the train station. There’s also a hotel shuttle that brings guest to/from the hotel to the train station. The hotel room has a picturesque view of the coast, where one can sit with a cuppa and let the hours pass by. The service was excellent and sound-proofing was excellent too - you can’t hear the traffic from the road nearby.

I had a lovely view from my room! The hotel's food has definitely gotten better, and I have to say the service was top-notch.
