Kamakura Prince

"How did it strike you on arrival? It's all about the views of Sagami Bay and Mount Fuji. It may not be the height of fashion that it was when it opened in 1995, but it's well-kept. What’s the crowd like?Convention-goers, wedding guests, and middle-aged to older couples. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Every single room has a view of the bay. Light sleepers beware: some are closer to the train tracks. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The beds are fine, if a little firm, but not the main draw. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?Lounge in your slippers and robe while you watch the sun set behind Mount Fuji! Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Big bathrooms with a separate shower and tub, and a fancy Japanese toilet. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Free and fast Room service: Worth it?With a pool, golf course, and three restaurants, this is the kind of hotel you never have to leave. For 2500JPY ($23), the breakfast buffet is pricey (especially when you can get a decent coffee and sandwich from a convenience store for less than $5), but maybe it's worth it to stay put and relax. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.Have I mentioned the view? What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?I mean, seriously, the view! A note about the pool: there's a strict no-tattoo policy to keep Yakuza from harassing guests and management, a real bummer if your tattoos can't be covered by a swim suit or rash guard. Bottom line: worth it, and why? In the off-season it feels like a bargain for such a stunning view, but high-season prices can seem to high for the outdated look." - Hannah Kirshner
