Glazed doughnut with chocolate center was awesome. Doughnut was fresh and soft. The chocolate was ono, one of the best I’ve had. (Seemed like a little hint of coffee, but maybe my imagination…) Malasada was good, but not hot and crispy like when you get it fresh from the truck. Haven’t tried the other doughnuts yet so will provide update soon.

Came here for the first time in a looooong time. I always order the famous Poi Glazed donuts. It’s so good and delicious. The right amount of glazed sugar all over the fried malasada poi flavored donuts. They have many other varieties, but this is my favorite. Line can get long so you can also phone order. Staff are super friendly and fast. Lots of parking and surrounded by lots of good eats.

Best Bakery on Oahu — Worth the Drive! Kamehameha Bakery Inc is hands down the best bakery on Oahu! I drive all the way from Kailua just to get a bite of their incredible treats — and let me tell you, it’s always worth it. My absolute favorite is the poi donut with coconut filling — soft, flavorful, and unlike anything else you’ll find. This place is a must-visit if you’re ever in Hawaiʻi. Just make sure to go early because the lines can get long — it’s that popular and for good reason. The aunties behind the counter are sweet, welcoming, and clearly know what they’re doing. Every item I’ve tried is made with love and packed with flavor. Local, authentic, and consistently amazing — Kamehameha Bakery is a true island gem. 🌺🍩

The best bakery I’ve ever been to bar none. Every single little baked good is so amazing. Would recommend the poi glazed malasada. It’s literally insane.

Kamehameha Bakery is famous for a reason: their pastries are genuinely excellent. Items like their iconic poi glaze donuts are fresh, perfectly balanced in sweetness, and absolutely worth seeking out. The quality of the baking and the unique flavors are top-notch, easily deserving five stars purely on taste. However, the experience is significantly dampened by the incredibly long wait time. The line is often far too extended, especially during peak hours, turning a quick stop into a substantial time commitment. While the pastries are great, you have to really factor in the time cost for your sugary reward. Four stars, because the delicious payoff almost makes up for the lengthy queue.

Great bakery!!! Unfortunately I got there too late, everything I wanted was sold out. Most of all their products was sold out. The staff informed me that has never happen before early in the day. It was Mardi Gras- Fat Tuesday. In hawaii it's celebrated by buying Malasadas. They have such great pastries. Maybe next time I'm in the neighborhood. I'll go and get my favorites. Highly recommended.

The BEST place for pastries. Down to earth people, nothing fancy. They open very early so if you get a flight or early morning project site, they got your back! Poi donuts, undefeated!

The customer service at Kamehameha Bakery is great. I've only had the poi donuts. They taste like a regular donut to us. A fine donut, but nothing unique in taste and texture. They have a lot of glaze on them. Next time we'll go earlier and try to get the poi haupia and other items. The parking is easy and the service is quick.

Have eaten a ton of their poi donuts at various events but this was my first time visiting the bakery. Tried their poi haupia donut which had a decent amount of haupia in it. Also got to try the strawberry and orange donuts as well. Both had subtle fruit flavors. My favorite is the original poi donut though. Line was long but moved quickly.

The poi donuts here hit different. Super soft, fluffy, and light with just the right amount of sweetness. I usually air fry them when I get home and they taste even better warm. The regular malasadas are kinda mid, but the poi donuts are the real star. Go early because they sell out quick!

Go early for poi malasadas! We were late and they sold out by the time we could get here and try their unique malasadas. Ended up getting a few treats they still had available: large ensamada, cream cheese cinnamon roll, apple danish, and two donuts. The ensamada was lightly sweetened but soft yeast like bread. The cream cheese topped cinnamon roll was SSOOOOO GOOD. Oooey and gooey! I wasn't a fan of the apple danish since it just didn't compare to the other two. My kids enjoyed the chocolate covered donuts.

Love bringing people here because it's cheap and there are a lot of options. Personally I only like the cream cheese cinnamon rolls and apple fritter. Hard to justify recently though! As told by the workers, ownership is making them use bags for treats now under four count. Really ridiculous to be watching employees ruin multiple cinnamon rolls trying to stuff it into a bag instead of just giving me a small box for the one or two I want ahah. Lost more money dropping things than the likely cost, bad logistics. Typically a long ish line and better with cash, just be prepared with your order because it always feels rushed or judged for looking through the long case. The bad part about so many delicious options.

Absolutely love that Kamehameha bakery is open early in the morning! They're one of the few places open at ridiculously early hours so that you can pick up donuts to go unit the office early 4 am or an early morning flight!!! Their donuts are also amazing even the regular glaze donuts! Hidden fav - banana fritter give it a try!!! Although never had a bad donut from them yet! They alss have a rewards program that gives $3 credits quite often so ask the cashier to put in your number, Thank you to Kamehameha bakery for being open early!!

Happy National Donut Day!! Donut say it but you know you want one and for me it had to be one of the local fave Poi Glaze here at Kamehameha Bakery. Every culture proudly has its own to be so proud of whether it's masalsadas, andagi or even a mochi donut as it comes in all shapes and sizes...sweet or savory these treats makes up the start of our day or after dinner dessert. Here at Kamehameha Bakery they have a lot to choose from and the service and vibe here is always so friendly but be prepared to wait in line as inside there only space for just a few but it moves fast as I got my fix in a jiffy or you can totally call in your order to expedite it but I do love to share this sweet reward and celebrate the donut. Thank you dough!

This small bakery is only 15 minutes walk away from Nico's. So we come here to pick up some breakfast or snack sometimes. Everything is cheap and tasty. Ambiance- 1/5. No ambience. They do have a bench to sit inside, but that's it. It not a place for you to dine. Service - 3/5. They are nice enough to ask if it's okay to charge a credit card service fee. Pastries - 4/5. If you like 85°c, you might like this small local bakery. Please keep in mind that it's a small local bakery so the selection isn't as much as 85. Everything we've tried was pretty good. It's nothing like you'd come all the way to try, but come support local business if you are in the area. If you are ubering from downtown Waikīkī, the ride is about $23-$30 one way.

The best place for baked goods! I love their strawberry & poi malasadas. The best place to go to for malasadas!!! My go to bakery for baked goods in general. The lines are always long, but the service is very fast. You will get through it very fast!! Can't eat inside. No restrooms inside. Very good customer service.

Update on Kam Bakery still good and they open early if you're looking to bring pastries to the office . Service is fast and friendly even if there's a line . I like their coconut Haupia filling roll look at my pics. Also poi donuts cannot go wrong support local

A+++++ Came at 6:30am on a weekday, not much of a line, plenty staff to service customers and they move really quick. So pleasant and willing to help... not to mention they pack my boxes so neat and made a great presentation. I ended up getting 53 items, filling 3 boxes for my husband's office (plus a few for the road). See photos of the 3 boxes, packed so nicely! I included my receipt to see their great prices... still best in the island. When we took the pastries to the office, everyone immediately said, "Oooh Kam Bakery!!" having recognized some of their signature items. EVERYBODY SWARMED. By noon, nothing was left! I feel I got all the popular items (that was in stock that day)... whereas even the person who got the last pastry, was gonna get something GOOD! This will always be my go-to bakery!!

Kam Bakery is a community legend. Ask any local about their favorite bakery on the island, and there's a good chance they'll point you straight here. Not exactly sure what took me so long, but I finally decided to visit after all these years. I went with a few of their specialties, as well as a couple other items that caught my eye: Glazed donut: A solid, well-executed raised donut. When things go wrong, yeast donuts can go one of two ways: A) airy and extremely dry, or B) far too bready and/or dense. This one was the right amount of fluffy, while still maintaining a good amount of moisture. Decent start. Poi donut: this was pleasant as well, more or less. It had a nice crisp bite on the outside that gave way to a soft, pillowy interior, with a balanced sweetness. Not too much in the way of poi flavor, though, if that's what you're after, but enjoyable nonetheless. Glazed croissant: Here's where things started to go south. The croissant was pretty underbaked, with a good amount of raw puff pastry (see attached). It ended up just tasting like straight sugar, with not a lot of that trademark butteriness that a good croissant has. Apple fritter: Also not quite successful. While fried nicely on the outside, it did not have a whole lot of apple or cinnamon flavor... and really didn't have many apples, period. I think I counted five little pieces total in the entire thing, not an exaggeration. It essentially read like a large, puffy frybread with a bit of sugar. While there is certainly nothing wrong with that, you're definitely hoping for a more powerful flavor profile when it comes to apple fritters. Not exactly what I was looking for. Banana roll: I was probably most excited to try this one in particular, but I ended up kind of disappointed. It really didn't taste all that banana-y, and the cream didn't really add much to the table. Overall impression: no frills and no nonsense, just the way I like it. Maybe not quite a transcendent experience, but that's ok. I would, however, like to point out the prompt and friendly service. It's clear that everyone here works extremely hard (plus they start so early in the morning!); I can see why Kam has become so beloved by so many. Places like this are part of the identity of the community, and it is important to preserve that legacy -- now more than ever. Definitely stop by with your support.

The Kamehameha Bakery update, 2024. This bakery is special to me because they were the location for the very first Dash for da Donuts UYE 9 years ago. Their bakery products were delicious when they were located on School Street and they are still delicious today. They got through the pandemic so the ohana could still get their sugar fix. So what are some favorites? Chocolate glazed donuts, Malasadas, the danish selections and their snowball cookies. Just a plain glazed donut still warm really hits the spot with a cup of coffee really hits the spot. They offer a lot of other selections but these happen tobe my favorites. If you're in Kalihi, a nice option when your sweet tooth is calling.

Love this bakery! And I LOVE the hours! Open at 2am, I can get early morning treats for my class whenever I feel like surprising them. The baked goods are so fresh and appealing every time I enter, and the customer service is great. Everyone greets me with a happy smile and the prices really are not too bad. Personal favorites: - Cronut (croissant + donut) so well baked and fluffy! Amazing flavor - Poi and orange malasadas, they are so unique and have a yummy glaze on them - Spanish rolls, always a classic! Large and buttery, you cannot go wrong - Cream cheese topped donut, I usually take a knife and spread the cream cheese across the whole thing when I get home so every bite is filled with it. TIPS & TRICKS: * There are so many items to choose, I really have never had a bad thing! So on top of getting your favorites.. be sure to try something new every time you come through their door.

5/5 stars just for the service! We were greeted with very friendly employees right from the beginning. They were patient with our questions and didn't mind explaining the menu and specials. Poi donut is a hit! The haupia bun was also really good. The bread was not too sweet and the coconut filling was just slightly sweet, which I enjoyed. Oftentimes fillings are too sweet but this one was just right! The Chantilly roll was a special new item that we tried. I really liked the brown sugar filling. Also got the croissant which was highly recommended. Haven't tried it yet but had to leave this review right away!!

Go get your poi malasadas. We arrived around 6am on Friday and there was a line inside the store. Seemed they were short 1 person working the counter. But the 2 aunties were friendly and efficient. We waited about 20 minutes. Store is clean and pastries are displayed nicely. Just wished there were labels so you know what the other pastries are. The malasadas and danish did not disappoint. Every bite was delicious. Enjoy one with coffee!

Some friends who frequently visit Oahu almost every year, asked us if we've "had a Poi Donut from Kamehameha Bakery?" We said no. They said, "you have to go!" So, we went! I walked into this rustic, yet simple, mom & pop bakery and was politely greeted by the owner's daughter. As my eyes were scanning the two display cases full of their baked goods, everything looked so good! But I was on a mission for their poi donuts only. I needed to stay on course. I finally saw what I was looking for. They were all lined up neatly. The glaze on these donuts were so inviting, I mean they looked so good! I bought one. I walked out with my prize and returned to the car. After taking my pics, my wife eagerly dug into it. She kept saying this isn't like any poi I've tasted. Mmmm. I had to remind her that the whole donut wasn't all hers. We were sharing it and I wanted my half! Wow, thank you B&P for that info. It was fluffy, soft, and the sugar glaze wasn't overly sweet. You can easily devour 2-3 of them before you can blink an eye. We will be back! Support your local business!

Poi malasadas are a MUST whenever I'm on island. They are truly one of a kind. I feel like the purple color isn't as vibrant as in past years, not sure if they used to put food coloring in it? Another piece of feedback would be for the shop to put labels with the names and prices of the baked goods. It's hard to identify what's what & I heard multiple people on line being confused on what things are.

Kamehameha Bakery Honolulu Hawaii Food: Poi Donuts are the stars here. If you like Krispy Kream's you're gonna go crazy over these delicious and warm donuts. Service: Great service, friendly staff. Ambiance: Plain decor, the most interesting thing is the assorted colorful donuts.

My brother Craig T. said that their haupia poi doughnut was good so we decided to pick some up and try um. Well we came home and did try um. Yes it was good the doughnut bun was soft and the filling was filled with haupia filling. Since I was there I decided to get the haupia doughnuts and a raisin snail and a apple turnover. We'll see tonight if the rest of the pastries are good as well.

Love this bakery!! Everything is baked fresh. I LOVE their poi haupia. That is the best thing they have. I'm coming from Sonoma county in CA and there is a lack of anything Asian or ube, so this is a treat! The poi haupia is an ube roll with coconut cream in the middle and it is to die for! It's not too heavy or too sweet. I also like their banana cream cheese roll. It's moist, and just the right amount of sweet. I recommend ordering ahead because I've heard they run out later on in the day. Just call ahead- the ladies that work there are so nice!

Today we had to order donuts for tomorrow's funeral services for a friend of the family.Order was very reasonable and cheap! Affordable! Which is why I am so glad they were available the day BEFORE! This place has been around for many many years and everyone knows that funerals have donuts and the best place is KAMEHAMEHA BAKERY! Also, never tried it before, but they have one of the best POI GLAZED DONUTS. We will have some for tomorrow.

I really wanted something sweet to eat and didn't want to go anywhere complicated. I knew where the bakery was, and I looked around the shopping center to see what else there was, but after looking this was the best choice. Lots to choose from! But I definitely wanted the poi haupia, my favorite, and then I got a strawberry and an orange one. The staff is so friendly! Some of the customers were amusing, especially the "oh so cool" couple who ordered separately. The woman spoke loudly and was definitely a tourist...LOL! Great place to come to! Mahalo Kamehameha!

Kamehameha Bakery's poi donuts are the real deal. With their deep purple color and thick glaze, they don't just look impressive... They deliver! Soft, dense, and packed with that distinct taro flavor, these donuts hit the perfect balance of sweet and satisfying. A solid pick for anyone who wants to taste a local classic done right... Yumm!

Always great and fast service. The ladies working the counter always have the best attitude even in the early mornings. Food is amazing, love the banana bread and the danish. So decadent and yummy. Very quiet and quick little place. The prices are amazing and walked out with a dozen poi donuts for less than $20. Highly recommend.

If I could order and try everything in the cases I totally would...twice! This store is a blast from the past where huge buttery ensamadas are spread in sugar, dinner rolls piled up in dishes, Chantelli cream dolloped on taro bun, poi mochi piled and displayed. Every traditional local pastry made with love and just memories of Hawaii. Sure there's no fancy cellophane wrapping. Just a paper box with a group of little old ladies waiting to help. The prices of the bakery items are sooo cheap and worth every penny. My favorite is the large snowflake cookie because it's not Christmas but we can still enjoy it with a hot drink. I hope this place can last forever and forever. This is something you want your kids to also enjoy as they get older and to say to their kids...my mom used to take me here. Parking is free but stalls are tight. Maybe park outside the strip mall if you worry about dinged doors.

an unassuming spot with great pastries! we had actually routed to the plaza due to another restaurant we were checking out and looking up this place on yelp. i love the friendly vibe of the bakery with all the different baked goods options. -their poi donut is really popular but i thought it was just ok. - banana roll: we had it many hours after getting it so it wasn't as moist as i would have wanted but it was still really yummy - pineapple banana bread was actually my favorite, i loved the twist on banana bread and it was really nice and moist

One word. BANANA ROLL. Run, don't walk... or maybe I shouldn't tell you how delicious it is?!? I'm not a fan of other people's banana bread because they are dry most times. This. Is. Not. They are also well know for their poi donuts that last a day or two.

We unfortunately didn't get there in time for their poi haupia but we got their poi glazed and it was SO GOOD. I loved seeing pieces of taro in the dough. The glaze was the perfect amount of sweetness for the bun. We also got another bun- it was not labelled but we decided to try it and that was our favourite. We cannot stop thinking about it! Really wanted to get their apple fritter as well but their desserts are quite sweet so we didn't. Really great and fast service, cheap prices, and an overall wonderful bakery!

One simple suggestion for a great experience: GO EARLY! Basically go as early as you can because they have the most selection when they first open. [Handicap/Disabled] the parking is terrible. The stalls are narrow and because of how people park it can make getting in and out of your car difficult. There are no nearby handicap parking stalls though it would be greatly appreciated especially if they would put in stalls with access aisles.

Kamehameha Bakery is a must-visit every time I'm in Honolulu--or even when I'm not! Their taro sweet rolls and taro malasadas are legendary, and nothing compares to the fresh, pillowy texture and the subtle sweetness of that signature taro flavor. These treats are so good that whenever family or friends fly to visit in San Antonio, I ask them to bring over a half dozen of each. The taro malasadas are exceptional--perfectly fried with a light sugar coating, they practically melt in your mouth. And those taro sweet rolls? They're soft, flavorful, and make the perfect snack or dessert. Pro tip: Get there early because these gems sell out fast, and you'll want to stock up. Trust me, one or two won't be enough. Kamehameha Bakery is hands down the king of taro-based treats!

Yummy and light baked goods to scarf down at any time of the day (they open at 2am most days and close late afternoon)! The glazed poi wasn't as flavorful or poi forward as I hoped. While they were good as donuts I wouldn't necessarily crave the flavor again. What was special was the poi haupia. The haupia custard wasn't overfilling nor too much. The pastry was a little more bread like and not as fresh as I would've preferred, but that's alright! Affordable prices. They accept card with a relatively small processing fee. The staff are friendly, too! Parking lot is on the spacious side. You should be able to get a spot! We came midday so there was plenty of room.

If you're a tourist looking to blend in, just randomly say your "heading to Kam for poi glaze". You're welcome. But seriously, Kam has been a staple for years and continues to provide consistent donuts and great service. Get there early because they will run out of poi glaze.

So many favorites here! Haha! Long John's, twist glazed donuts, banana bread thing with frosting... Ladies are always nice a patient, the place is always clean. Decent prices. What more can we ask for?

Parking: Easy to find if you go early in the morning, but the parking spaces are quite tight. The lot is pretty small as well. Service: fast and efficient. You definitely need to know what you want before you get there though because there will be a lot of people and they will be busy. It kind of reminds me of Porto's in California - you walk in and you line up then an auntie from behind the counter will ask what you want and she packs all your goodies in a box and you're pau. Food: Definitely go for the poi donuts! I bought 2 dozen and they all went sooooo quick! It's a crowd favorite. Pro Tip: Cash is king... there is a fee for credit/debit cards 3%

There's something about their glazed donuts that folks at work couldn't get enough of. And don't get me wrong, their other pastries were good (I like the guava one or was it the chocolate filled one) but the glazed ones were hands down the winner. Little background about these bad boys. The best way I can describe them is they're hybrid donuts: they're fluffy like a raised but mini like the size of cake donuts. Pillowy soft. So much so that they squish a little if you hold them too tight. But it's the glaze that will get you hooked. Semi sweet. Sticky. And I swear there's a hint of coconut (but I think everything has a hint of coconut in Hawaii). Maybe there a smidge of vanilla? Who knows? But their glaze combined with that hybrid squishy, airy donuts all makes for one heck of a tasty treat.

Pretty good local bakery in the Kalihi area. It can get rather busy at times, but their unique pastries are all made in-house and are not too expensive either. I'm sure they sell out quickly too given how popular they tend to be.

We had a lovely experience at this little bakery. The poi mochi donut was amazing, still warm when we got them. A lot of other stuff looked amazing and the smells were great. The people working the counter were very quick and friendly.

Good malasadas, donuts and apple turnover. I don't know about the butter roll. My fav was the regular malasadas. You should for sure visit. Go early since we went late all the pastries were gone! But if you want slow times with no wait, go later. Great snack for breakfast or dessert. Pretty well made. They last awhile too. Service was efficient and the girl was sweet! Kam Bakery is the place to go for poi donuts. The haupia bun is also delicious. They provide great service. The place can get very crowded so please come early, if you can. The ambiance is that of a classic bakery, and the owners are very friendly. I hardly go because I don't feel safe in the area, and I work in law enforcement, so I am vigilant about not leaving my subsidized unmarked patrol car unattended. Otherwise, great bakery.
