The 18 Best Dumplings In LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Little Tokyo’s Kaminari Gyoza specializes in Utsunomiya-style gyoza, delicate Japanese dumplings with paper-thin wrappers that can be ordered pan-fried or deep-fried (we prefer pan-fried) and fillings that include pork, chicken, shrimp or plant-based meat and vegetables. A 6-piece mix-and-match order of gyoza with their cilantro dipping sauce is a perfect midday snack, but if you want a proper lunch, get one of the fully loaded gyoza bentos packed with spaghetti, breakfast potatoes, a spring roll and pickles, among other goodies." - sylvio martins, garrett snyder, cathy park, andrew ryce

The restaurant had plenty of seats and seemed to have quick turnover of customers. Sat our family down on the tatami mats and started getting plate after plate of fresh gyoza that were both crispy and silky, with a good flavour. We were in and out in about 15 minutes!

Came here around 11:30am and there’s already a line outside which is a good sign, it’s a popular local restaurant among Japanese people. The line moves quickly though. There’s only one item on the menu and that’s pan fried gyozas, they’re delicious and once you’re seated they already serve your first plate of dumplings. Once you’re close to finishing they’ll ask if you want more. Each plate is ¥300 more, so fairly cheap. You can also order beer. Service is a bit rushed, so don’t sit around once you’re finished. Expect to be moved out quickly, overall a nice experience and worth trying.

A traditional Gyoza 🥟 place where you just keep on getting as many plates as you want for 300 yen. Getting them with a beer 🍺 is what the locals do, there are various sizes. You can sit at the center table or traditional floor style. For the price, it's worth the 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

good vibe, gyoza taste was expected, nothing too special, very cheap tho, but its kind of inconsistent as my first plate of gyoza was quite soggy but second plate was much better with crispy skin...

I heard this place is very famous but after I visited I know why it is. The dumplings 🥟 are really crispy & tasty! The staff is really quick to serve you another plate when they see your plate is empty 😂 The price is normal 1plate (5pcs) = 300¥ They serve beer & tea in a glass bottles which remind us Showa style izakaya 🏮

I had to come and try by myself this very famous gyoza joint to see what’s all the fuss about. I ended up with mixed feelings, as the overall experience was very interesting, but the core of it, the gyozas, were not that great – or at least to the point I was expecting. It is located only 5 minutes away from Kameido station, and you can find it easily as there is always people lining up outside. I knew that from the beginning, but fortunately I had read some reviews that the customer turnover was quite fast, so I queued without issue. As expected, in less than 10 minutes I was already inside and that’s were the experience started. There’s only one item in the menu, gyozas, and all they’ll ask you is for a drink. Be careful because I went into an unnecessary struggle while ordering and the woman, insisting for my answer, understood big beer instead of small beer. Suddenly an enormous bottle of beer came to me with my plate of gyozas. Similar to a Brazilian rodizio, all they will ask you is if you want more gyozas, and they’ll bring you a plate of 5 everytime you ask for more. If you think so, it is not expensive, as 15 gyozas turn out to be 900 yen, plus the drink. Also, if you don’t feel like drinking anything, just say you want water and you won’t be obliged to order anything else.

It is a no frill gyoza restaurant in Ikebukuro. I learnt that the food is taiwanese, very light soup stock, thicker gyoza wraps than the Japanese. We had gyoza, cracker dumplings made of moichi rice mixed with soy and pork, it was very interesting and ramen noodles. I found their old fashioned version of what we'd call uber eats very interesting. Food was put into a long narrow metal container with shelves, lid, slided down shut and off it went on a bicycle for delivery. I also watched the staff make fresh dumplings. The food was so cheap and a very interesting experience.

Quick and delicious crispy thin gyoza for 300 yen a plate. They only have drinks and gyoza in their menu and I think minimum order is 2 gyoza plates (don’t worry you can easily finish off 2 plates)
