The Best Restaurants in Montreal’s Shaughnessy Village - Eater Montreal

"Tucked inside the Kametsuru Japanese grocery store, the Ichifuku counter remains a draw in the quartier with their summer terrasse and winter takeaway option. Ramen lovers can select pork or chicken broth, add an egg (poached or marinated and boiled) or extra nori. There’s katsu, yakisoba, and chicken karaage to boot." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

This little super market is small but amazing. There are some sushi prepared with a good quality and reasonable price. My friend take me there once, and I would like to come back again😘😘😘

I used to come to this store every day to buy sushi and beverages because there was a tall and beautiful girl working here. As long as she was in the store, I would always come to buy things and talk to her for a bit. She made every visit memorable. Now this store has closed down completely. It reminds me of her every time I walk past here. I hope this store can reopen one day.

Let’s hope they reopen or relocate soon, I’m not from Montreal but I loved buying my Asian groceries there! The best part was their to-go menu, freshly made onigiri and even ramen (not instant noodles!!) for a really cheap price. I wish I had gone more often because it was the perfect meal for my bf and I.

Cute store, only thing they do not accept $50 bills. So I had to use my credit card for a drink....Seriously now!!!

GREAT spot for authentic japanese products in Montreal! I love to discover some new sweets and dry foods from here. Decent prices for pretty good quality, pleasant and courteous service. Place is small but clean and very well organized. It's also well located in downtown, near a metro station. Go check them out!

They do have the best donburi and the Curry Don is so good. The best Onigiri, infact its my favourite Onigiri because it tasted like back home , it really does. Unfortunately it would be my last because the store will closed. I will surely will miss this one i hope they will come back.

I used to go there back when the store was just a ramen restaurant, and I always loved it. The staff is super nice, and every time I go there's often new products on display! If you're looking for Japanese cooking ingrediants, snacks and meals, I recommend going there and encouraging this small business :) (You can also still order ramen from Ichifuku at a counter there, which I also recommend! Very yummy)

Love love love the Kaisen don! It is so delicious and savoury! For the price, they are giving you fresh fish and they prepare it the same day! I just wish they had a place to eat inside like Japanese convenience store (7/11, Lawson). They have so many choices inside the store and they really sell a lot of Japanese stuff that we don’t find it elsewhere (ie peach tea by Craftea/coca cola). I’ve tried to look in many Asian markets in Mtl and no luck. This store really pops out for me :)

Yelp
This is the new japanese grocery store that popped up inside ichifuku's dining area. You can still get ramen and other hot foods, since they still have the kitchen in the back. There are some rare japanese items I haven't seen much elsewhere, like fresh wasabi (!!!), shiso leaves, and wagyu beef. There is also a fine selection of snacks and specialty foods. Don't expect the prices to be low, they are specialty items after all. I bought a pack of shiso leaves (~10 leaves) for $3.99. A fresh wasabi plant will run you $25 (totally worth it tbh) I'd check it out if you're into japanese cooking or just love japanese snacks in general! The place is small but you could probably find what you need. They also had sittori chocolate in strawberry flavour aahhhhh.

Yelp
Kametsuru is a new Japanese concept grocery store inside of the Ichifuku restaurant. They have a wide range of snacks, exotic drinks, grocery products and ready to eat take-out food. For the ready to eat, they offer sushi, sashimi, takowasa and fresh wasabi. Their prices starts at 5.99$. For the grocery products, they have wagyu, many varieties of noodles, sauces and much more! The staff are very friendly and I would recommend everyone to check it out if you are in the area.
