Chinese Noodles ROKU

"Ramen, soup and other Chinese foods are the soul of this ramen shop by Velrosier. The chef draws soup stock from bones of duck, chicken, venison and pork. Clear soup owes its depth to umami from a medley of dried foods; dried longan fruit, a Chinese medicinal herb, is a touch only a gourmet of Chinese cuisine would think of. The manifold layers of flavour derive from Roku’s ‘add-on’ approach to seasoning." - Michelin Inspector

It is my favorite noodle in Kyoto. The taste is so delicate and worth to eat. I love the richness of their soup. No wonder why they have been awarded Michelin Bib Gourmand. They deserve all the applause. I also love their simple but elegance atmosphere with the tree inside the restaurant. Thanks for making such a wonderful food.

This was definitely good, but I had higher expectations in light of the Klook reviews. When you arrive, you order on the screen and wait in line. We arrived at 7:45 pm and were not seated until 8:10 pm. To the restaurant’s credit, though, we received our food shortly after being seated. Each person is required to order RAMEN (not just something else). The restaurant is small. The ramen is good but again, not the best I’ve ever had. I would visit here again if needed.

I don’t understand how this restaurant doesn’t have a 5.0 rating. It was absolutely perfect. The food was the richest umami noodles you could ask for, and the staff? Oh you haven’t seen nice staff until you meet the lady working here.

The food was so tasty and the waitress was lovely. We ordered the schezwan ramen though and it did not taste at all of schezwan. What it did taste like though, was the best spaghetti bolognese ever! So, if you like bolognese go for that one. Maybe they should serve it with Parmesan.

So nice had to come twice 😄 I ordered the Szechuan ramen and then the traditional chinese ramen; both were absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the chicken ramen 2x and although he rarely finishes ramen broth, he finished it BOTH times! Order the wontons if they have them. We definitely missed them the 2nd time we came. I still dream about this ramen back home in NY.

A ramen gem hidden in Good Nature Hotel. Delicious ramen. Limited seats. The chicken ramen broth is thick and tasty. The 中华 ramen broth is as good but of a different flavor. You dont have many options, and you can't choose the hardness of the ramen. The chicken ramen turns out to be softer, and it is what i like. You need to order at least one ramen person. Simple but efficient restaurant operation. You order and pay from the machine, seated and food will beservede to you. If you need an appron, you can ask from the staff. The service is good.

A fancy looking shop that has limited seating! I got there 30 minutes before opening at night and there was a line starting to form already. I had the Sichuan pepper ramen and was disappointed, there was no spice! The broth was tasty but it did not taste of Sichuan pepper at all. I also had a small side rice plate that was good, and the atmosphere was amazing.

My favourite noodle place in Kyoto. The ambience is fantastic, food is great, and price is super reasonable. This is one restaurant I’d visit again and again when I am in Kyoto.
