The 15 Essential Restaurants in Missoula, Home of the University of Montana

"Originally from Iraq, Ammar Omar and his family opened Ragheef and Kamoon food trucks in 2021 to serve the flavors of Arabia in Missoula. In addition to the trucks, they now have a small restaurant, which goes by the same two names at different hours. During the day, Ragheef serves manakeesh, flatbreads with a variety of toppings including meat, cheese, vegetables, cooked tomatoes, and piquant sauces and spices like pomegranate molasses and za’atar. Try the labneh and falafel man’oushe, one of Ragheef’s most popular items, or go sweeter with the cheese and honey flatbread. At dinnertime, Ragheef gives way to Kamoon, serving dishes like shawarma, kebabs, and baba ghanoush. Visit the restaurant space, open fall through spring, and find the food trucks at the Clark Fork Market and at community events in the summer." - Lotus Porte-Moyel

Google
We had an incredible experience at Kamoon Arabian Cuisine! From the moment we walked in, it was clear this is a family-run restaurant where pride and authenticity shine through in every dish. My husband, who has lived in the Middle East on and off since the mid-2000s, was especially impressed—he said the food brought back so many wonderful memories of his time there. We ordered more than we needed (knowing we’d happily enjoy it again for dinner!) and everything was absolutely delightful. The beef shawarma plate was tender and flavorful, the chicken kebab plate was perfectly seasoned and grilled, the baba ganoush was smoky and smooth, and the dolmas were fresh and delicious. Each bite brought a smile to my face with the richness of the flavors. Kamoon is a true gem, serving authentic dishes with love and care. We can’t wait to return to Missoula and try even more from their menu!

Oh man. Dreams do come true. I love this spot. The portions are gigantic, so share. Trust me. We had the beef kebabs, falafel plate, tabbouleh and the beef & cheese bread. So delicious.

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely unforgettable! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by warm smiles and an aroma that instantly transported us to the heart of the Middle East. The food here isn’t just delicious — it’s authentic, full-flavored, and clearly crafted with pride and care. Every bite was a joy: the shawarma was tender and perfectly seasoned, the falafel was crisp on the outside and soft, green, and herbaceous on the inside, the vine leaves stuffed with rice were beautifully balanced and comforting, and the rice itself felt truly authentic — fragrant, light, and exactly how it should be. The hummus deserves special praise for its beautifully detailed topping — silky smooth beneath, finished with olive oil, spices, and thoughtful garnishes. The amba sauce was bold, tangy, and addictive, and even the pickled cabbage stood out — bright, crunchy, and perfectly balanced, adding a fresh, punchy contrast to the meal. The portions were generous, the prices fantastic, and what truly stands out is the family-run warmth — you can feel the love in every dish and every interaction. We are visiting from Portland, Oregon, and we’re sure going to miss this place. ❤️

Google
The best Middle Eastern food in Missoula! Everything is very fresh and the restaurant is clean. The free sweet cardamom black tea is delicious! Plus, they let us order manakeesh off of the lunch menu.

Google
Very healthy fast casual eatery. Lunch was hummus and pita bread. I'm almost positive they make their own pita bread here. The hummus was gourmet with olive oil and herbs on top. My cardiologist will be happy when I tell her I had this healthy lunch.

Google
Great food, and coming from a picky eater i recommend the chicken kebab wrap super delicious, the employees were super friendly and even let us try their falafel which is easily the best ive had in town. Super clean looking kitchen as well which is always nice to see especially in missoula. HIGHLY recommend giving them a try

Yelp
I like a restaurant with a small menu -- I'd rather see a few things done very well than a slew of mediocre options. Kamoon is my kind of place. It's small and it's popular; I hope with continued success they'll be able to get a larger dining room in the future. While I waited for my dinner I watched the food being prepared in the kitchen. I was impressed by the portions, the individual care given to each dish, and the consistency. I ordered beef shawarma and a side of baba ghanoush. The flavors were excellent. I'm used to baba ghanoush that's a little more 'processed' but this was fresh and had chunks of eggplant in it. There was more of it than I could eat. As for the shawarma plate, everything was excellent and well balanced. The hummus, like the baba ghanoush, was fresh and had some whole chickpeas in it, which I liked more than I thought I would. They sent me off with no utensils in my bag, but I ate everything anyway, down to the last grain of rice. I probably could have found a plastic fork in the lobby of my hotel but I didn't want to wait to eat. My one complaint is that there was no lamb on the menu. I prefer lamb to beef, especially in Middle Eastern fare. Maybe there's a supply issue or maybe people around here just prefer beef -- either way, it's a small complaint. I will go back next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
I've been to the restaurant several times and had meals from the food truck as well. Excellent food with friendly service. The kebab plate is a huge meal with strong flavors and quality ingredients.

Yelp
I was so excited when I found this restaurant. I live in Kalispell, MT and this restaurant was worth the two plus hour trip. It's a small place packed with a wonderful selection of foods. Prices are very reasonable for the authentic quality and quantity you are getting. You will not go away hungry. I took my two adult children and we had a feast! I had the beef kabob plate, my son had chicken shawarma plate and my daughter had falafel wrap. We also got their sides of falafels and baba ghanoush. Absolutely the best Middle Eastern/Arabian food I've ever had. Better than the ones in Los Angeles for sure. Their flavors are tasty and beautifully complex melodies that make your taste buds sing. The falafels are soft and full of flavors. The best falafel ever! Compared to the big city restaurants. I even had to take home a beef kabob plate for my hubby back in Kalispell! The restaurant is actually two businesses, one is at lunchtime and Kamoon is at dinnertime. We went at dinnertime, but other customers were telling me the other business is just as delicious. The restaurant is very small. They have some bar seating along the windows. Because of the small space they can't handle large groups but they do to-go orders too. While I was there, the restaurant was steady with customers both sit down and to-gos orders. The owner was a lovely man and his family are amazing people. This restaurant is an absolute gem! I can't wait to come back. It's so worth it!!

Yelp
Great experience! Amazing food! Very polite and inviting atmosphere. Small yet cozy. Clean and comfortable. Hot and prompt. Not only did they provide a yummy dinner, they brought out samples of the other option we didn't select. Found a new favorite when we found this place!

Yelp
Everything is made in house. Family run restaurant and food trucks. Falafel is the best.

Yelp
Great food, great service. Nice vibe, excellent selection as well as a small Halal grocery. Food is so good, I wish I could eat there every day.

Yelp
Incredibly friendly and excellent food! Hands down the best hummus I've ever eaten. Have a glass of tea while you wait. :)

Yelp
The best Arabian food in town in my opinion. Not much room to eat in but takeout is an option

Yelp
Absolutely fabulous. I got the chicken kabob plate that came with yellow rice hummus cabbage and salad and every piece of it was incredible. The falafel was also amazing and fresh. Everyone in the restaurant was incredibly friendly. I can't wait to go back

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! We ordered and picked up to enjoy at Imagine Nation Brewery. Authentic food with a good variety of choices for different dietary needs and preferences. We loved it. Kiddos loved it. Will go here on repeat.

Yelp
Incredible falafel and shawarma. It's all delicious. They started out as a food truck and just opened the brick-and-mortar spot in January 2022. It's great to have an Arabic/Middle Eastern restaurant that is truly family-run!
