Montreal’s Best Chinese Restaurants | Eater Montreal

"Kanbai’s menu showcases dishes from Sichuan and Hunan, which are home to some of China’s hottest cuisines. Think: poached fish filet in hot chili soup or eggplant and minced pork with hot garlic sauce. For the spice-averse, there’s an extensive range of more seasonally focused Cantonese food as well." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

The Most Underrated, Hidden-Gem Restaurants in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Chinatown’s Kanbai’s menu showcases dishes from Sichuan and Hunan, home to some of China’s hottest cuisines. If you’re not a Chinese reader, look for translated key words “hot” and “chili,” ideally combined with “garlic” and “sauce” to find options like poached fish filet in hot chili soup or eggplant and minced pork with hot garlic sauce. For the spice-averse, there’s an extensive range of more seasonally focused Cantonese food." - JP Karwacki

We were searching around the area to eat, and suddenly we saw this place on google maps, and we gave it a try. This is our second time in this restaurant and it is AMAZING. The quality, the service, the food is fricking amazing. For me, it is one of the best chinese foods ever tried, we come from Spain and this place is AMAZING

A great spot for lunch-dinner. Pork belly cold rolls were delicious 🤤 Service was very polite, was going to the restroom and passed the kitchen, everything was clean and organized. Pleasure to see kitchens like this, especially when you work in the kitchen industry for 10+ years. The only thing, as we were not Asians, they gave as forks right away instead of chop sticks and reduced spiciness in the dish😅 But we do love eating with chop sticks and spicy food, that’s why we choose that resto. Anyway not a big deal.

Great food! We tried the wonton soup, beef and rice noodles and fried chicken with bone with salt and pepper and rice 🍚 Service was friendly and fast!

My favourite chinese restaurant in Montreal. Had a lot of beautiful memories with this restaurant. I used to order over 30 dishes from them for my party. Fabulous services. Missed them a lot after move out of QC.

I walked out of Kan Bei on a cloud of happiness 🤤🎏🎎🧧🪭Best Cantonese food in Montreal Canada 🇨🇦 Who knew, right? We ordered chicken and vegetables with the house fried rice. Outstanding service 😇 it was just the right meal we needed on a very cold winter night.

Came to Montreal on holidays but craving for Chinese food. The Sichuan dishes here lack of Mala flavor (numbing and spicy flavor) but I guess it’s adapted to local taste. Although not completed satisfied, it did give some sort of comfort to my cravings. Service here is slow and not excellent. Also they have two types of La Zi Ji ( spicy chili chicken) which I haven’t never seen in any restaurants, one with bones and the other without bones. The one without bones is actually not authentic at all, it’s just fried chicken with some chills, more catered for westerns. The one with bones? My advice is not to have La Zi Ji with bones as most authentic La Zi Ji dishes don’t come with bones.

Service is fast and efficient. The food is amazing! It feels very authentic, well presented with a lot of flavour! The portion size is decent, I really don't have anything negative to say about this restaurant. I had a great experience eating there and it wasn't very expensive.

Kan bei is THE BEST chinese restaurant I've been to in the one year that I've been living in Montreal. we ordered the chicken fried rice (#809) beef with satay sauce (#315) stir fried shrimps, spring roles and shrimp soup. All of them were absolutely delicious. Will definitely visit again. If you're looking for good portions, great prices, and a succulent chinese meal, Kan bei is the right place for you.
