"Tobiuo was originally established by chef Mike Lim, who left to open Kanau Sushi in Midtown." - Adele Chapin

"Opened this week by chef Mike Lim after pandemic-related delays, this new raw-fish destination launches with a soft opening and limited dinner reservations (including service for Friday, December 18). The restaurant occupies a 2,000-square-foot Midtown high-rise unit with a sophisticated sushi bar and minimalist, Japan-inspired decor, seating about 40–50 diners under socially distanced limits; reservations are required via Tock and takeout can be ordered by calling 832-879-2106. Sashimi is the centerpiece, featuring top-quality fish flown in from exotic locales and the chef’s distinctive presentations, alongside Korean-influenced cold dishes such as the Blood Moon (thinly sliced amberjack with yuzu-chile vinaigrette) and omakase-style offerings that build on the chef’s acclaim from his tenure at Katy’s Tobiuo." - Amy McCarthy
