The 38 Best Restaurants in Osaka, Japan | Eater

"For almost 700 years, Kanbukuro has been producing a single sweet: kuromi mochi, or walnut rice cakes. The sticky, bite-sized balls are soaked in a green bean paste and topped with shaved ice in the summertime. While Kanbukuro’s sweets are not the most aesthetic, they have received rave reviews from figures like lord Toyotomi Hideyoshi and tea ceremony master Sen no Rikyū since Japan’s Feudal days. Best for: A quick sweet treat and beautifully packaged souvenirs to take home." - La Carmina

An Absolutely necessary experience if you are spending any time in osaka and you care to experience beautiful dessert with history. Delicious and standard setting delicacy, royal taste 700 years ago and today.

Kurumimochi is their speciality. It's very tasty rice cake with Zunda(green beans). If you buy a large size, it comes with brown pottery which looks masterpiece.:))

The best traditional sweet shop in Japan! Kurumi-mochi is Sakai's specialty in all times since the 14th century. It's delicious, not too sweet but good sweet. And the shop itself has a very nice traditional design. You should definitely order the one with shaved ice, and eat the ice together with mochi under it. Please be careful not to finish the ice too quick. It's better to balance it with mochi. The shop is usually very crowded in summer even on weekdays, but all customers leave soon after they finish eating, so the lines move very fast. Sometimes the sweet gets sold out around 3pm, so you'd better go before then.

Delicious dessert. The shaved ice has a very special texture to it. The mochi is incredibly smooth. Highly recommended.

I tried their matcha (green tea) kakigori and something similar to a matcha mochi pudding. Both were delicious. It really tasted like matcha, so if you're not a fan you better skip it. You can also buy a box of their delicious mochi there. It's a good souvenir. Local place with really good tea desserts. Nice place to chill.

Yelp
Shaved KURUMI MOCHI is a cool snack in very traditional style. Firstly you go to cashier to order own menu before sitting. Waiting for some minutes with your wooden number stick, a staff brings your order with calling your number. I think it is a little bit small plate for guys. Don't mind it. They have a single dip and double dip of MOCHI. Water and tea is self serving. Enjoy it!
