Great vibe service is awesome our waiter had a great personality. There music play list is great. Dine in and out. Small menus in regards to food selection but food is really tasty. Good maps has their hours wrong. They are open on the weekends @ 11am -2:30pm then reopens for dinner @4pm

I love seafood and had to try the ceviche and octopus. I have a ton of food allergies (not exaggerating) and they were able to adapt and it was the best ceviche and octopus I have ever had. The ceviche had a great citrus flavor and the octopus was perfectly tendered and seasoned without being the slightest bit chewy. We also loved the flight options. The decor is very comfortable, and beautifully set up. We closed the place down and the chef and server were both so kind to let us wait until the rideshare picked us up. Ozzie (Archie) is so kind and welcoming. Next time I'm in Santa Rosa, I'm definitely going back.

Google
This restaurant was amazing! All of the flavors were perfectly balanced and the wine selection was fantastic. It was also just a really nice space to sit and visit. Gorgeous, highly recommend! Make sure you get the adult Mac and cheese 😍

Bryan Nguyen

Google
Trendy little restaurant with a nice selection of small plates with plenty of good flavors! Service was very friendly and they've got a nice selection of champagne! Definitely try a flight, with some oysters and crab cakes!

Google
The whole experience was amazing! Everything tasted great. And portions were great for sharing.

Google
We really enjoyed our time here! We just got ceviche and a tasting which was nice to share. We didn’t know it was a Peruvian restaurant but our server was very helpful and gave us a rundown on the whole menu and wines. Thursday is also 30% off a bottle which I think is a pretty good deal!

Google
Wonderful food and wine! The owner is so lovely. The decor and ambiance is fancy yet laid back- vusually pleasing fixtures and installments throughout with comfy seating. We 4 adults ordered 6 tapas and it was very filling- great share portion sizes. Chef even brought out some cheesecake for dessert which was light and flavourful. This place deserves to succeed 👏.

Google
I love this place. Great location, classy interior, unique food and drink menu. GREAT happy hour (which I am a huge fan of).

Yelp
I love this place besides the tough parking. Sometimes it's tough not always so difficult to attain!! The staff is so helpful and friendly! We had the Crab Cakes, and Golden Beet Salad, and Pork Belly Lettuce Cups then we had a couple glasses of sparkling wine to start then we had some white wine and then finished with 2 glasses of red wine. The room looks beautiful and fashionable! The white fabric on the chairs and booths give it a clean look that's quite becoming of it all. I wish I could recall which wines by the glass we ordered but all I can say is they have a fabulous wine by the glass list!!

Yelp
Upscale vibe when entering. The service was great and the bartender was very friendly. We arrived during happy hour so the menu was slightly different but the food was very good.Causa Vegetariana was interesting dish served cold. Basically mushroom over potatoes but served in a unique way. Pork Belly Sliders was spot on and should be a must there. Pulled Chicken Empanada was great with some spicy sauce. We also had the Oysters were excellent, small and sweet and lastly the Meatballs which were too spicy for me. Overall super recommended and my vote would be to come back and try more things on the menu.

Yelp
Jan 2023 Came in for a night out with my partner. The decor is nice, good contrasts. We caught a seat at the bar since it is usually easier than a table. Service was friendly and answered any questions that we had. He would also check in when he could but it was just him running service at the time with other patrons in the restaurant. It was a Tuesday so we ordered practically everything off the happy hour menu just to try different things. We also grabbed the pork belly bao buns, the mac n cheese, and the crab cakes. Overall, it was pretty good. I'd say that the causa vegetariana and the empanadas were the most successful for us. The sauce with the empanadas really complimented them and I liked the flavors for the causa. We also got some nice red flights to go along with the meal and spent a nice night out. They were out of the yuzu miso black cod but we'll stop by again sometime to check other things out again.

Yelp
This wonderful little eatery in the heart of downtown Santa Rosa, offers outdoor seating, indoor seating. A high-quality full-service bar. My friend and I went for happy hour, and we're not disappointing. She had the chicken empanadas, and I had the crabcakes which were fabulous! She also got a small salad that was quite small, but delicious. This time of year September, offers, lovely, outdoor seating of about four tables... very pleasant with fascinating people watching views. Note: this place is pricey, even during happy hour. The crab cakes were nearly $25! The restaurant itself is fairly small and narrow with a contemporary yet cozy feel. My friend was able to park behind the bookstore for free. Street parking is at a premium until 6 PM, then free. Sorry, forgot to take pics!

Yelp
While visiting family in Santa Rosa, I looked for a nice restaurant downtown that had a Happy Hour and good food and drinks. Yelp reviews led me to Kancha and it was one of the most surprising and fun experiences I have had because it's Peruvian-Japanese fusion! Happy Hour is daily, 4-6pm, and we ordered a few food items and to drink, the Happy Hour choices for Beer & Sake. The server was so kind and allowed my Sister to taste the sake first. We also ordered two generous Tapas which were almost entree size: mussels and Mac & Cheese with a generous portion of crab! To finish off the meal, I was delighted to get the complimentary glass of Champagne when checking in on Yelp. We will be back, I encourage the owners to update their newly expanded hours on the online platforms including Yelp.

Yelp
Ceviche mixto and yuka and sliders and drink were excellent Good service Thanks Delicious

Yelp
Let's start with the service! You feel at home! They are so friendly, take good care of you and you taste the love in the foods! Small bites restaurant and you cannot go wrong with anything you choose! Their ceviche is a favorite of mine! Bubbles flights is a must!

Yelp
We tried Kancha last night, for Restaurant Week. We got there just after 6:00. Our reservations were for 6:30, so we sat at the bar to have a cocktail to wait. We did not get offered a menu for the drinks, so we asked the only other couple at the long bar to see their menu. All we got was water, for the first half hour. When they finally took our drink order it took another fifteen minutes to serve us. We were seated by the time we got our drinks. They were so understaffed with waiters but had two guys with water pitchers pouring people constantly. The food was okay, but not great. We love Peruvian food, but this was mediocre, at best.

Yelp
Visiting town for the Adventure Van Expo and managed to make it to dinner here at kancha. We had one sangria each, red and white, both tasty. Pulled chicken empanada (aji de gallina) fresh, crispy and delicious. Seared Hokkaido scallops, over risotto with fresh onions, cherry tomatoes, and micro greens. Mixto ceviche, delicious with crisp home fried potato chips. Golden beet salad. Pulpo Causa( aka octopus over potato) All so good, and we interspersed a white wine flight and enjoyed all three . They're new and they're tasty, and still had seats on a Saturday night. They might not for long, you should get over here while you can still get a table.

Mark D.

Yelp
Imaginative food and exceptional cocktails. Service was generally good, but inconsistent. Sound level very good. Returned about a week later for more!

Jessica C.

Yelp
This review is solely due to the fact that we've attempted to try Kamchatka twice now and both times it was unexpectedly closed. We checked the hours both times and it should've been open. There was no signage stating it was closed for any reason. Disappointing since we wanted to try this place and both times we were unable to.

Britni B.

Yelp
We sat at the bar for happy hour. Ordered about 6 items. Everything was delicious! Our server was very passionate and knowledgeable about the menu. Don't leave without trying the brie, meatballs, empanadas or wonton shrimp tacos! Cannot wait to go back for dinner.

Claudine R.

Yelp
I really loved the food here and the service was great. I came with 2 girlfriends on a Sunday afternoon. There was no one else in the restaurant so we had the servers complete attention. He was very helpful with the menu and wine selections. We ordered the Tiradito Scallops which were good, nothing crazy special. The server was nice enough to give us an extra scallop since there was 3 of us. We also got the Vegeteriana, my sister liked it but I thought it was kind of meh. The cold potatoes were interesting but our server described it as such so we weren't surprised. We had the Pork Belly Sliders and added an extra slider, because usually it only comes with 2. I liked them but we thought it needed some acidity. We tried the Aji de Gallinda which was the ceviche with passionfruit I believe and we really like that. Wish we had more of it. The chicken empanadas were my favorite. I was surprised when the server said the chicken was better than the lomo saltado empanadas, but he wasn't wrong. It was sooo good. I loved it. Worth ordering!

Yelp
After reading the wonderful reviews I was excited to bring my out of town guest here. We came for the happy hour. We waited 15 minutes for water, another 15 minutes for our Sangria (which tasted like fruit juice & water) and at 50 minutes out food had not arrived. We needed to be somewhere so cancelled our order. Maybe it was an off night? Short staffed? I'm not sure but it was certainly not the experience we were hoping for. In fairness I must say our service was kind and apologized & the sangrias were comped. I'd like to return and give Kancha another chance in hopes of a better time.

Yelp
Sooooooo happy we found this restaurant during our weekend getaway!!! The chic and modern ambiance when you step in already makes you feel fancy! But the food is even better! I absolutely love Peruvian food and have high standards -- they blew me away! The service is incredible, very kind and genuine staff who took their time to provide recommendations and explain the menu. We tried the scallop tiradito and the pulpo appetizer-- so much flavor and the sauces were a great compliment. The scallops are so fresh and tender. My husband had the arroz con pato and the duck was perfectly cooked, crunchy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. We live in Oakland and I will absolutely make the drive to come back again!

Scott W.

Yelp
Super nice and informative server, she was great! The place is clean, classic, and hip, wonderful ambiance for date nite! Some excellent food, flavorful, and delicious. We were surprised yesterday with happy hour on a Saturday! Happy hour menu Included pork belly bao buns, causa vegetariana, couple of empanadas, but don't miss the black cod! Melts in your mouth!

Yelp
This place is a little gem in downtown Santa Rosa. We came here for dinner. Overall the food was very tasty. The yucca fries, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, most importantly very well seasoned. I also really like the lomo saltado empanadas, the filling was so flavorful while the outside is light and crispy. The tuna causas (whipped potato over protein) was flavorful and delicious as well Drinks were very good, and very reasonably priced for a flight of champagne!!! Service was slow in the beginning, the server looked overwhelmed but it got better as time goes. The owner also stopped by to greet and help with the table. I highly recommend to try this place!

Yelp
I'm always on the hunt for places that have sparkling by the glass, which by the way are far and few between and suddenly this spot pops up and well I'll just say I couldn't get there fast enough lol super excited for a new bubbly stop for me yay! On occasion I will get off work and I happen to be a tiny thirsty and in need of a little rest and relaxation, I look forward to my bubbles and a tasty HH yummy and well then my day is made. The decor is modern mixed with dark colors and green tin tile ceilings and a huge bar is the center piece. I ordered some empanadas yes delicious and pork belly lettuce cups both delicious with my expensive bubbly delicious once again service was good, should be better considering the price tag of 2 glasses of French Champagne and 2 appetizers the glasses $25 per glass 2 appetizers came out to just a little under a $100 before the tip, it's still pricey but delicious. They have beer on tap, mixed drinks as well and of course sparkling and French Champagne. They are still waiting on more people coming in they'll be off and running soon. no way I won't be back a great spot for a quick bite or date night or girls night excellent idea check it out and get your sipping on. Cheers ALL SYOY

Yelp
Had high hopes for this spot. We tried the Restaurant Week menu and wow, that was not a good idea. We had reservations and when we arrived there were no tables. We were told we could sit at the bar and wait for a table - ok, that's fine. We sat there for 45 minutes and during that time no one came to speak to us, offer us a drink, nothing. Right before we were about to walk out we were seated. We then sat at the table for a very long time before someone came to take our order. At this point it's been 90 minutes and we haven't had a drink or bite of food. When the food finally arrived and I wish I could give one positive note but there was nothing that hit the mark, nothing. I was a little surprised that food was unfortunate as it was. We ordered a caesar salad and the leaves of lettuce were brown, broken and wilted! That's how we started. The Ceviche was drowning in sauce and served with taro chip that were clearly made yesterday, soggy and chewy. We ordered the shrimp dish with rice and I kid you not there were TWO tiny sad shrimps on top of a large portion of rice. ??? I thought it was a joke but alas, I do not think it was. Perhaps they ran out of ingredients and didn't know how to handle that situation? They could have simply told us that they were out of that dish and we would have ordered something else. We also ordered the beef croquette which had very little meat involved. The ambience is interesting, it feels more like an elevated sports bar than a restaurant. A huge long bar is the center stage which was awkward because when we walked in the bar was totally empty and everyone was sitting at tables. Little tables all against the wall. Not the fault of the owner, to be sure, but it adds the vibe that the operation is not quite working. The hope was that trying this place would lead to a new great spot in SR - wee need more great spots! Well, this experience had the opposite effect. And in the end we spent $150+ on this meal and left very underwhelmed. TOO BAD.

Yelp
The guys here were awesome! We came over here after a less than great dinner and the bartenders were so fun and personable and made our night so much better! They sold us a chambong set and it was so fun! We drank some champagne and hungout with the bartenders for a bit and had a wonderful evening thanks to them! Definitely go here if you want to have a fun time :)

Steven B.

Yelp
Dungeness Crab Cakes! We swing in while shopping at mall area shops snd thank goodness we did! We will def return. Great wine list, Spanish and maybe some fusion??? We say outdoors as it was a gorgeous day. The indoors has more charm if on a date or something. My wife had some delicious sparkling wine from the Loire, and I had a hazy IPA as I was thirsty....

Kadi M.

Yelp
Back again. And of course not disappointed. Making our way happily through the menu Also very nice to see the place filling up, we really want to see this place succeed. Today's treats was the usual oysters and daily ceviche with the addition of crab cakes and the seared scallops....WOW!!! On both! The mango sauce with the scallops and the delicate flavor of the crab cake. So good, so good

Janette W.

Yelp
This is a great stop for a pre-dinner drink. The staff was nice and they have good TVs should you also be trying to catch a game!

Valentine D.

Yelp
First time guest and the food was amazing! Definitely recommend yucca chips and lomo Saltado empanadas! The Bubly around the world flight was delicious! Received 4 star instead of 5 since the service was slow in the beginning but otherwise highly recommend.

Trini L.

Yelp
This new spot was definitely a place I will recommend to others! We ordered a variety of options off the happy hour menu and one item off their regular menu. The Lomo Saltado empanadas were DELICIOUS and a must try!! The oysters were fresh and their sauce/dip that was paired with them was fantastic! I personally enjoyed the yuca fries and ceviche too. Overall the food was amazing!! They were a bit busy so we waited a tad longer to speak to our server at times.

Rachael S.

Yelp
I thankfully found this place by searching wine and champagne bars and was shocked I hadn't heard of this spot before. I easily made reservations for dinner and had such a lovely time here. First walking in, this place is a VIBE! The two gentleman working were so friendly and on top of the service that it felt like they were friends. I got an amazing wine cocktail called the Amaro sour (twist on pisco sour) I planned on only having one but it was so good that I had two more, my friend had the Dark Knight red wine flight. This is a tapas place so you share the dishes. We got the quinoa caprese salad, the adult Mac and cheese (mouth watering), tiradito criollo (ahi tuna and sweet potatoes in this fantastic sauce) and pork belly sliders. The food was so good I only got a picture of our first item before we started diving in. I will def be coming back for happy hour!

Molly R.

Yelp
This place just opened for lunch this weekend and was super tasty! The staff was really friendly and the restaurant is really beautifully decorated. The food was delicious and there is a good variety of options. Our only complaint was that the fish in the ceviche was a bit butchered, not cut up nicely like most ceviche which made it a bit hard to eat. The flavors on the ceviche though were on point. We will definitely be back to try some more things though. They also have Happy Hour every day! Go try this place out!

Leslievic O.

Yelp
Delicious fresh food and drinks. Lovely intimate space to dine and enjoy downtown Santa Rosa. Such a lovely local gem.

Jesica F.

Yelp
Fun intimate date night spot. We were there for restaurant week and enjoyed the different courses. Ceviche appetizer was great! My husband thought the portions were on the smaller side, but I thought it was perfect.

Mike C.

Yelp
Really enjoyed Kancha. The service was great and food was really good. Order the Champagne flight, you won't be disappointed. We made reservations but found there were seats available but reservations never hurt to make. The portions are perfect for sharing and everything came out hot and very flavorful.

Jessica B.

Yelp
So delicious. This was our second time in and the food and drinks were great! Service is always friendly and prompt. I love the Dungeness crab causa and the beet salad. We had short rib and scallops and those were both great as well! I love the esthetic of the decor and vibe. We will be back! Hoping Santa Rosa keeps this place going!

Maria M.

Yelp
Original review: After reading reviews and articles about this place, I really wanted to give it a try. Today, I walked passed the restaurant to see the owner and chef, Angel, sitting at the window, barefoot, chugging wine with his dog running around. If this is how he choose to run his restaurant, I'm not interested. So many health code violations on top of pure disrespect and audacity. I'm so disgusted This review was taken down. However, we decided to give this place a chance and came in- it can't be so horrible based on the owners neglect, right? Anyway, we went in. The entire place smells like old fryer oil and when we asked about it, we were told they didn't have a hood so they didn't have a fryer. Ok, so let's pivot to other stuff. The cocktails were "meh", definitely no thought was put into them. We ended up going next door and getting pizza Edited: we did come in. Please stop using Yelp to take down every poor review you've had. This is ridiculous. Change your fryer oil

Candi C.

Yelp
Got a text two hours before my reservation saying they closed the business the day prior.

Jason S.

Yelp
The true test of any restaurant is, "Would I come back?" - and this restaurant fails at this, HARD. As much as this place hypes itself on its website, the dishes lacked flavor and basic seasoning. Decore was a bit plain. which is neither here nor there, but those expecting a cozy, romantic e;egance should look elsewhere. Our server was the only saving grace, he was charming and fun to chat with.

Jerry H.

Yelp
We loved the grilled octopus, grill scallops, beef empanadas, Yuzu Palmer, and everything we ordered. My family are tough critics and even though not everyone loved everything, oddly everyone had different dish!

Aly Y.

Yelp
We went in on a Tuesday because they advertise an all day happy hour, but the servers didn't even know that it was offered, so we had to remind them and ask for the happy hour menu. The food is pricey and ok at best. I ordered the tuna tartare, the tuna tasted either cheap or old. It was definitely fishy and not great. The meatballs were weird and sour, not really worth it. The ribs were okay, but for almost $20 you really don't get a lot. I liked their sangria, and it is really pretty inside. I would stay away from the food though. Especially anything raw because I don't think it's all that fresh. I really want to love this place because it's so cute and in the past I have enjoyed their food, but it seems like they are falling behind. If you want a similar experience but better food and good drinks, I would walk down the street to Warike.

Tina O.

Yelp
Our first time here - several gals for happy hour. Excellent service from Paige. Food came out quickly. Small but interesting menu for Happy Hour. Personally this wasn't my favorite for flavors but perhaps it's just my taste. I had the oysters with a pineapple migonette sauce - a bit too sweet for me but at $1.50 each, an excellent deal. A couple of the gals had the Yucca fries that they liked but found the sauce a bit too spicy for their liking - so they got plain katsup instead - no problem. I got the empanada of the day - flavorful mushroom with another spicy sauce. Happy hour red sangria was "different" - tasty but had cinnamon and cloves - a surprise - good but not sure I'd order it again. So, it's a lovely place and worth trying for people who like these flavors. Be aware, almost everything on the menu is some sort of seafood - so if that's not "your thing" - you might want to skip it. But otherwise, a nice find.

Ofelia R.

Yelp
I believe this place is closed but still taking reservations online. Website is still up and running. Very disappointed when showing up for my birthday dinner and finding out they are close.

Frankie R.

Yelp
Terrible service. Terrible food. Waiter forgot our drinks and we waited for ages. Had to prompt twice. We ordered the happy hour oysters (should have known better) and they absolutely stank. Ordered the yuca fries and the dip was sour and fizzy-- had definitely turned. Then we got our pulpo (octopus) and it was somehow hard in the middle but completely uncooked/no searing on the outside and stringy and fatty. I rarely take the time to leave a bad review but damn. That was disgusting. Heading home now and we both feel sick.

Andrew D.

Yelp
Came with a group of 5, the service was slow but the food was delicious. Make sure to check in and get a free drink!

Phil S.

Yelp
Great experience at Kancha Champagne Bar and Tapas last night for a wedding anniversary dinner. We have many places to eat in Sonoma County that we really like. However, for a special event, Kancha was our choice because Angel always offers something we've never had before, or he comes up with a unique, exquisite variation on a dish we thought could not be improved. We also like sharing small plates, and do our own wine & food pairings. Last night's Champagne flight was incredible, and with Angel's suggestions, we chose small plates that might best show dramatic variations of the wine flights with food. Desert was a great surprise.... We ordered Tres Leches with strawberries, and Angel paired it with a Rose Champagne that was an absolute perfect fit.

Paul S.

Yelp
Lovely and lively food at this Champagne bar in downtown Santa Rosa. Though the menu is short the food is the star here. Every dish was well executed and delicious, from spicy meatballs to chicken empeñadas to various iterations of ceviche. Unfortunately, the bar side of the equation leaves much to be desired. The space is clearly presented as a bar, starting with the name on the door. Add to that the short small plate menu, the pumping pop music and the tiny two-tops lining the back wall. Admittedly, as a lover of Champagne I came in to this Champagne bar with high expectations, but to my disappointment I found their selection of Champagnes to be rather pedestrian and their Champagne service to be frustratingly sub-par. However, given their warm hospitality and delicious food, I will return at some point. Hopefully by then they will have found their Champagne Shangri-La.

David L.

Yelp
This was unexpected, this is a really neat place with different type of fare, smaller bites. We didn't even have the champagne so I'm sure that's a great experience as well. If you want to try something different and fun, this is a great place for it.

Joan P.

Yelp
Just came from early dinner and happy hour and the place was deservedly hopping. Where to start? Happy hour oysters with a great dipping sauce- so fresh and tasty we placed a second order. Yucca fries with a spicy dipping sauce was perfection - and I don't usually do fried foods. 2 kinds of empanadas- happy hour chicken special and off the main menu we got the mushroom. Definitely a 10. And don't forget the ceviche- catch of the day was exceptional with petrale and tiny diced sweet potatoes. Refreshing, full of flavor and not the usual suspects. Because we sat at the bar, we got to interact with the delightfully professional Paige who made us feel warm and welcome even though we were a bit older than the rest of the clientele. The white sangria with a touch of plum wine is enough to turn me into a regular. Downtown Santa Rosa had needed a place like this for a long time. Chic without being pretentious, reasonably priced for the quality and warm and welcoming in every way. Can't wait to come back and try more.

Christy R.

Yelp
Elegant, cute for small groups, and has a tasty menu. We cherished our experience by the owners hospitality and his great recommendations. The music was pleasant and paired well with the experience. I loved the final sweet gesture during our time, which was a complementary glass of sparkling wine, celebrating our special occasion. I also loved hearing about the history and notes of the wine as well as the items it pairs well with.

Wes A.

Yelp
We love Kancha! The food, the atmosphere, and the cocktails are all top notch! Local owners, and the type of young family you really want to succeed. Support this local spot in downtown Santa Rosa!

Julie G.

Yelp
Amazing food! Amazing atmosphere! We had Nikkei tuna ceviche , so good! Crab cakes, tenderloin empanadas, golden beet salad, adult Mac n cheese, all fabulous!! Waitstaff was attentive and friendly. We'll be back!

Luna D.

Yelp
Not even sure how I found Kancha but I am definitely coming back! Service was over the top great! And food was fabulous! We went for happy hour and tried everything. Played beautifully and absolutely delicious! The empanadas were divine from filling to the crunchy flavorful dough.

Jessica W.

Yelp
Definitely help support this new business! Good music and vibes. The food is great! I loved their ceviche; it had a nice mild heat to it (not spicy at all). Of course the empanadas are so flakey and definitely worth a try. We also liked the whipped potato dish with octopus. We've had the Yuka fries twice and they were very different preparations. I didn't really enjoy either tbh. Happy Hour is okay; some stuff is only a dollar off, and no champagne!? Anyways I definitely will be back and hope they continue to do well. Just remember they are closed on Mondays.
