A neighborhood Sri Lankan spot that transforms on Saturdays with an affordable all-you-can-eat spread—think hoppers, kottu roti, and pittu. Eater LA flagged it as an under-the-radar find; recent diners confirm the weekend buffet is going strong.

Google
Excellent Sri Lankan food and fantastic service. Friday and Saturday buffet rocks with hoppers, string hoppers, and kottu. Prices are fair and portion sizes are great. Freshly baked malu paan (fish buns), roast bread, kimbula bread is a must try.

Google
Great Sri Lankan Food! We had the String Hoppers with Chicken Curry, and both the beef/chicken kottu. Definitely recommend trying kottu! The owners are very kind and genuine people! 10/10!

Google
I'm a huge fan of falooda, so when I noticed that Kandy Kaffe had it on their menu, I had to give it a try. It turned out to be absolutely delicious. The owner was also very friendly and welcoming. I'll definitely be going back to try their food!

Yelp
Kandy Kaffe is totally worth the drive from Santa Barbara! I've tried a bunch of Sri Lankan restaurants--some are good, but a lot of them end up serving Indian dishes like butter chicken and mango lassi, probably just to draw in more customers who are already familiar with Indian food. I get why they do it, but it makes it tough to find places that really stick to those classic Sri Lankan flavors. Just so you know, I actually cook Sri Lankan food myself and know exactly what it's supposed to taste like--so trust me when I say Kandy Kaffe gets it right. We grabbed their Rolls, Cutlets, and Patties for the road (such a great idea, they're perfect for snacking later), and while we were there, we dug into the chicken Kottu and beef Kottu. Kottu Roti is truly unique to Sri Lanka--it's a street food where they chop up flatbread on a hot griddle and toss it together with veggies, eggs, your choice of meat, and Sri Lankan spices. The sound of it being chopped up is honestly part of the Sri Lankan experience, and you just can't get that flavor anywhere else. One cool thing is they can make it as spicy or as mild as you like--my wife can't handle too much spice, but even the mild version was super tasty and full of flavor. On top of all that, the people running the place are really friendly and deserve way more recognition. Don't forget to finish your meal with their wattalappam (a coconut flan-like dessert made with jaggery)--it's the perfect sweet ending. If you're looking for real Sri Lankan food, you've got to check this spot out!

Yelp
The food was amazing. Food was excellent. Service was stellar! I would go back! The waiter was so helpful and recommended the kottu roti which I absolutely adored. It was my first time having that.

Yelp
The first time I came in was for their Saturday lunch buffet. There was a variety of curries, rice, and fresh roti. We were also served freshly made egg roti which was delicious. The curries and rice were very tasty. I really enjoyed it. The second time I came for lunch was for the kottu rotti which blew my tastebuds away. It was spicy, flavorful, and freshly prepared. The owners are very kind and welcoming. I'll be definitely coming back for many more future lunches.

Yelp
I came here for lunch, the place looks clean and they have pizza, burgers and other American food but they also have other Sri Lancan dishes. I order the Beef kottu roti and falooda. The service was great and very nice service. They have small plate/snacks like empanadas but they are Sri Lancan snacks/small plates. They also sale Watalappam, it's like a dessert it's sooo good. Kind of like flan taste but different texture.

Yelp
What I admire most, and look for in a restaurant is, do they have the ability to absorb constructive criticism? After that, can they fix the issue pronto? In this department, Kandy Kaffe excels and has set an exemplary example. After entering the Sri Lankan dining scene (amidst competition), this restaurant offered the buffet experience, very soon after opening. The hallmarks of nostalgic Sri Lankan dining center around two main staples. The Hopper and the String Hopper. Keeping these two items moist and fresh is a skill, especially if it is in a buffet setting. Kandy Kaffe, in my opinion, makes the best hoppers in the LA area. Their freshly made egg hoppers takes you to another level. String hoppers can run dry soon. For one, they need to be covered. Second, they should not be heated while in the buffet setting. Both these initial problems were rectified. Now, their buffet string hoppers, both red and white are soft, with texture and overall superb. I like all their curries. Their Dahl deserves special mention. Just super. Service, since their inception, has been exceptional.

Yelp
Hospitality was off the charts, the restaurant is clean, and the pizza was fire. It's a quant Sri Lankan joint without being overwhelming for someone who's not from there.

Yelp
My second time to this Sri Lankan gem! I ordered the chicken Kottu Roti. Absolutely delicious! The portion is large enough to share or as I'm planning on, 2 meals. If you've never tried Sri Lankan food and like south Asian cuisine, give this place a try:)

Yelp
Very friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. We had tea, egg kottu, watalappan, vege roti and tea buns. All were great! The egg kottu was one of the best we had for a long time. Watalapan had authentic Sri Lankan taste and we loved it! We'll visit this place every time we come to LA.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant come bring the family and friends! Enjoy watching the game! And Sri Lanka food is the best on the west side! Customer service from Gunathilika is superb!

Yelp
I went to this small restaurant and it was delicious. The owner was helpful in explaining the menu and ensuring I chose something that i would enjoy. He was also mindful of accommodating the spicy level. Overall I recommend it and will be returning!

Yelp
The chicken kottu was definitely two meals. They've got a lot of food options, but the Sri Lankan is worth a try if you're a foodie.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I came here for breakfast which was the wrong decision. We ended up waiting for an hour for just 2 sandwiches and some pancakes. We were going to leave but she told us it was only going to be 15 more minutes which turned into about 35. However once we finally did get our food it was really good. Won't be coming back strictly because of the wait time.

Yelp
