This place had delicious food. My favorite dish was their signature hot pot beef with an egg. I also loved their small bites such as the eggroll, eggplant, and corn tempura

This place is the BEST!! We wanted the traditional small venue experience in Japan and Kanegura did not disappoint!! The food was so amazing, we went two nights in a row!!! We had the Wagyu beef shabu shabu, the curry rice, the spring roll with pork belly and this amazing eggplant soup dish. We sat at the counter and watched these two young chefs prepare everything in a kitchen the size of an American hallway. The staff was friendly and provided amazing service. Don’t miss this one! It’s our number one dining experience in Japan!!

They do not provide receipt. Hmmm... Interior: Great. Service: non english speaking, tried their best, helpful & friendly. Food: Nothing to write home about. Not expensive not cheap. Not amazing and not bad. Salad with local vegetables is superb.

They are the hidden gem for beef lovers, offering a rich, satisfying experience with both classic and creative dishes centered around beautifully marbled wagyu. Their signature Sukiyaki-Style Hotpot was the gorgeous, thinly sliced beef slowly simmered in sweet soy-based sauce. The marbling was exquisite, and as it cooked, it released a rich aroma that built anticipation. Paired with crisp bean sprouts, it offered the perfect texture contrast. Dipping it in egg enhanced the umami. For side dishes, I tried their fired chicken, spring rolls, potato salad, grilled shiitake mushrooms, and Wagyu with ponzu which were all amazing. My favorite was their Wagyu sashimi. The raw wagyu slices melt in my mouth with a mild soy-based dressing and a touch of wasabi. As pudding love myself, of course I tried their pudding. It was smooth, rich, and not overly sweet. The dark caramel on top added a deep, almost smoky finish. A perfect ending😍

The portions of each dish were too small, and the prices were too high. I came here based on online reviews, and I was extremely disappointed. They said one person could eat their fill. You're selling such a small amount of sukiyaki for 1800 yen, and the hot pot is just soy sauce broth with cabbage and some meat? I'm absolutely dumbfounded. I will never go there again. The food is outrageously bad; I suggest you think carefully before you go. I was fooled by Instagram

One meat gem in Kyoto. Great value for the quality, modern decor and friendly service. The hitori nabe is served sukiyaki style and the instructions are rather easy but they do service it along the way. The little bits I had were tasty and well seasoned. Definitely hit the spot on a cold night in Kyoto.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and I can only say positive things! The food was absolutely delicious, and I highly recommend it. We spontaneously dropped by and were lucky to get a table, but I would definitely suggest making a reservation to be safe. The atmosphere at the counter was fantastic! The staff was incredibly attentive and maintained everything very clean and tidy. It was truly wonderful to watch the dishes being prepared while we ate. You could see the passion and dedication in every detail. The service was quick and efficient, and I really have no complaints. The prices range from 2000 ¥ to 8000 ¥, depending on what you order and how much you want to eat. I had one portion, which was more than enough for me (meat, rice, and salad), while my boyfriend opted for two portions. Overall, we paid about 10,000 ¥ for two potato salads, three portions of rice, four drinks, three servings of Regular Brand Wagyu, and one dessert. A great value for the quality of the food! I’m already looking forward to our next visit!

Tasty, creative chefs cooking Kobe beef and wagyu to perfection accompanied by a number of veg, salad and meat-based appetizers and side dishes. The curry and rice was delicious and very good value. The location and the space in the restaurant was comfortable, cozy. Thanks to the personal service of the chef who cooked and served our cuts/steaks so professionally and with a smile.
