Liked this place! Food is good and staff friendly! Recommend the Spicy Fera omlette, The California Benedict, Their Fried Chicken Sandwich as well as the BLT! For sides their herb roasted potatoes are too good but if you are calorie conscious then take the mixed fruit Shout out to Jesus their busy busy chef and Juan and David as well ! Amayrani took good care of us ! Would love to visit again

I had a breakfast burrito but forgot to add any protein, which might be why I didn’t enjoy it as much. There were too many potatoes inside, and it was a little salty. On the other hand, my husband ordered the chicken sandwich, and it was surprisingly good—better than any chicken sandwich place we’ve tried before.

Leslie C is the reason we come back here for brunch! She was absolutely sweet and calm, gave good suggestions and checked in on us without interrupting (a gift for wait staff). The food was good too, the ambience is decent. Great service, and good food highly recommend.

The service was genuine and so nice, and the restaurant was very clean. Food was fantastic, from the homemade breads made on site to the waffles and chicken! The restaurant is close to the subway line so you can hear it go by. We figured it was real Chicago experience. Thanks Kanela’s, you guys were perfect Sunday morning breakfast spot.

This was my first time visiting. The restaurant is actually bigger than it looks on the outside. I liked the decor, the service and the food was delicious and exactly how I asked for them to prepare it. My server Alex or Alexa (sorry I can't remember her exact name) but she was very nice, polite, welcoming and just overall wonderful. I'll definitely be back soon (Ask for Alex she's extremely pleasant)

The food and atmosphere was great. Service was just a tad slow, but it wasn't anything I would particularly complain about. I ordered the red velvet french toast and it was so good. Nice & sweet! I didn't even need syrup, but they give you some anyway. I also had the beef filet hash, which was AMAZING! It was very savory, had such a nice flavor, and was seasoned very well. It was my favorite dish just because I feel that so many places fail with the seasoning of their meats, but this was perfect. I will definitely eat here again if I come back to Chicago!

We went around 11am and there were only 2 other tables dinning. The place is pretty spacious and the tables were not very close to each other, unlike some restaurants. We ordered cappuccino which tasted amazing, we also ordered the California Benedict and build-your-own Skillet, the flavor of the dishes were good. I like the Benedict. However, for the skillet, the price of each additional item in the skillet is way too much as they only give you 2 little pieces of each additional items….instead they put a lot of potatoes in the skillet….I wouldn’t be as disappointed if they actually put more additional items in the skillet. And as I am writing this review and looking at the recipe, I realized we didn’t get the avocado we paid for on the skillet….

Loved my server, it feels so cozy and nice in the restaurant and the food was great. Ive been to a kanela before and it didnt taste this way, i remember the food being better (like i always ordered food to go good). But would 100% recommend!

Got a breakfast burrito here. It was a good standard burrito. $3.50 additional to add chicken sausage and paid $23 total for the burrito alone. There was barely any meat in it. Potatoes here aren't the crispy kind and have minimal flavor despite being "herb crusted". Price point not worth the burrito especially with how little meat you get for the up charge. Again, very basic standard burrito but I've had better for way cheaper with more filling

Came here for breakfast the Sunday before Halloween. The staff were in costume, which were nice. The space is nice and not too noisy. We were seated in the back where you get the occasional rumble of the L going by. I had a bloody Mary along with a cappuccino. Both were very good, but I had ordered the bloody Mary "hot" so I was unable to finish it. My friend and I had the scrambles and the bacon is very good. Yep, I would come back here for breakfast another time.

Fun chill spot in wicker. Went for brunch and enjoyed the service and food! Lively staff, pop music and walking distance to other fun places in wicker/ logan square area. Overall a yummy spot!!

We catered this brunch so I can't really comment on the service and ambiance of dining in. However, the food was awesome for our brunch and everyone loved the French toast and unique breakfast options. The red velvet French toast was just incredible. I love catering brunch from this place now. It's our go-to breakfast or brunch catering option!

20% auto gratuity means the servers don't care. Management needs to take a look at the servers work ethic. Disappointing service, okay food, and I don't think we will be back...

Went here for brunch and would definitely go again. We didn't have to wait for long for two people but it was pretty busy when we got there. The menu had so many good options but I went with the benedict and it was pretty tasty. The drinks seemed rly good as well. My friend got a chai latte. All in all, the food came fast, the waiter was kind and the food was tasty. Would recommend!

A good friend recommended this place to come for our brunch date. The seating space is a little tight in here. But the service here was good. The food is even better which I was kind of surprised. We both ordered the chicken and Waffles and I was not disappointed. The food was giving and it punch alot of wonderful flavors in my mouth. It's a good places to invite a friend to join you on a Saturday for some good food. The prices were decent for the nice portion of food. I look forward to coming back to hopefully enjoy some more good homemade delicious foods. This might be added to one of my favorite brunch places in Wicker Park.

Kanela serves elevated breakfast dishes at a higher price, but the chilaquiles didn't impress. The salsa was watered down, and the flavors lacked depth. It's a nice spot for upscale breakfast, but there are better options for traditional flavors.

I was immediately greeted as I was the only customer first thing in the morning haha I love treating myself to breakfast after a long stretch at work. California Benedict: This dish was refreshing and very flavorful. The potatoes particularly looked and tasted so good. Overall very filling and perfect if you're vegetarian. I like how their menu has alot of vegetarian options. Lemon blueberry pancakes: I always gotta have something sweet at breakfast. You can choose a short stack of their pancakes which I believe is the same thing as a half order. These were great! Wish there was more lemon flavor but other than that it was very good!

When my friend and I walked in, we weren't greeted by anyone for a long couple minutes. Then finally the hostess appeared and said she'll check the back if there was any seating available. She came back and sat us in the back corner of the restaurant. Luckily, the train only came by once because it was super loud when it did. I ended up getting the Spicy Feta Omelette while my friend got the Egg White Omelette. She had asked if chicken sausage could be added to it but the worker said add-ons aren't allowed. We also ended up stealing utensils/napkins from the empty table next to us because there weren't any at our table. The food tasted delicious. There were some pieces of potato that were slightly undercooked; otherwise the flavor was great and reminded me of the greek potatoes I used to eat in high school. The omelette was also very tasty. I loved the flavor but it wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be. I didn't get a choice of the type of toast but my friend said they typically ask. The worker checked in with us maybe 1 or 2 times. She wasn't rude nor friendly. I think it was just a busy time. Overall, loved the food. Service could be better - seems hit or miss.

Pretty good food, but a couple problems, they really go light on ingredients in the byo omelete and have entirely missed some a couple times. Also had some really bad service, didnt get checked on nearly the whole time at breakfast, so I didnt get a coffee refill. All this would probably at least be 3 stars but on top of it they mandatory charge 20% for the tip. This is probably why the servers dont seem to care. Gave it a few chances but probably not going back.

I have visited Kanela thrice, and both times I have had wonderful experiences. Great service, food, and drinks. Mimosa is quite good. I always come back for the monkey bread, which is warm, soft, sweet, just so great. Kanela does not take reservations but I do think the experience is worth a wait. Interior, the design is subdued but welcoming and comfortable. Typically I would rate any Kanela location a 4 or 5/5. However, today, I witnessed a different waitress make a mistake on the order for the table next to mine (brought out only one entree) and then not apologize when she was kindly told more items were ordered initially. Their coffee was also never brought out. While the entire other store were all friendly, including the manager and hostess and my own waitress, there has to be some review of staff.

We came here Sunday brunch. The place was packed, and hate to wait longer between 7-10 minutes for a host to come to the front and take our name down. Don't know where he disappeared to, but by the time he came to the front, there was a line of about 5 parties trying to dine in. The guy then wrote everyone's names on a piece of papers with a crayon lol. We got offered a small both that another party declined. It was definitely a tight squeeze but we were getting a little hungry and had to get going on our Sunday plans so we accepted the table. Fortunately for us, that was the worst part of this visit. I got my coffee right away and the food shorty after. My wife ordered their Chicken & Waffles and I ordered their Chilaquiles. Both dishes were very delicious. My wife's chicken was perfectly fried and seasoned. The chicken was juicy and tender on the inside and served with some very delicious potatoes on the side. My chilaquiles came with a very tasty green sauce, avocado and two sunny side up eggs. I'm a big fan of chilaquiles and I honestly didn't have high hopes for the chilaquiles tasting this good here. I will definitely be returning.

Cute brunch spot! We came on a weekend and it was pretty lively. Kanela offers a variety of brunch classics so it was hard to pick! To start, we got the monkey bread to share. It came out on a hot skillet, and the monkey bread was light and fluffy. It was tasty, but I wish I had a little more honey butter and caramel to give it an extra bit of sweetness. For my main, I got the fried egg sandwich with a side of fruit. I was in the mood for a breakfast bagel sandwich, so this really hit the spot! I liked how it had a good amount of veggies to give it brightness and balance. If you're in the mood for a classic brunch, Kanela would be a great choice!

Food was mediocre. The goat cheese omelete was something I could've made at home. The omelete itself was just egg, arugula, and the goat cheese spread, which was the highlight. It would have been better if the goat cheese was mixed in with the egg during cooking. The potatoes were ok. The location in Wicker Park is nice though.

I mean we are sinking low in what we accept in our dining experiences. The French toast with all its many thumbs up is a lie. Some might say it was a bad day, okay, maybe, but what I tasted is a restaurant that is now comfortable off past ratings and are now slipping into the trash bin of poor quality food. So sad...

Food- The food at the table across from me was impressive: chicken and waffles, and French toast sticks assembled like a log cabin (campfire style). Me- I ordered a breakfast skillet. It has potato's, spicy whipped feta (a house specialty), broccoli, caramelized onions, and chicken apple sausage. I ordered spinach in the skillet, too, but didn't see any. No worries with the skillet, topped w/ scrambled eggs, and side of toast- plenty of food. Service- Just right. Ambiance- music was good, if a bit loud. I am a crabby old lady. Very convenient to the Damen transit station.

I'll have to agree with the reviews on this one. I wanted to love it because it's so close to us but unfortunately there were concerns and places where Kanela fell short. I'll start with the positives - I ordered the Lorraine scramble sub egg whites, which was tasty. Pretty much what I expected. Came with potatoes which were seasoned well but a bit oily and sourdough which was good. Good portions. I added a side of the blueberry lemon pancakes. I like that you can do a short stack here. They were alright... basic and no lemon to be found. They did sit on the counter ready for 5-10 minutes before they were brought to the table, so that may have had an impact. We kept staring at our food waiting while the waiter went back and forth without even acknowledging the plates. My husband got the spicy feta omelette which he enjoyed and the potato chips. They seemed homemade and were nice and crispy BUT we did observe an employee eating them directly out of the bin they were in while dishing up the plates... so take that as you may. He got the English muffin which tasted homemade, very good with the spicy pepper jam, which we were told was made in house. He added a side of the potato pancakes which seemed like they were either frozen pre-packaged or leftover and reheated. Would not recommend. Overall, if I really didn't want to cook and just wanted a scramble and some toast maybe I would come back but for me, too many issues when there are better options in wicker park for the same price point.

Located in Wicker Park area off Milwaukee makes this place super convenient. Not too far of a walk off Division CTA stop. We headed here after a 5k walk downtown. Thought it best to avoid DT upcharge and avoid tourist midday traffic. We were able to find quick parking nearby metered of course. For drinks we opted for Mimosas, Coffee and Crunch Toast Drink. Coffee was hot and unlimited for $4.0. I thought kinda pricey so didn't grab as I didn't think I would do more than 1 cup. We also ordered the Monkey Bread for table appetizers. So glad we did. Very sweet, flavourful and warm. This was a good choice for us, since everyone went savory. Food: I got Crab Cake Egg Benedict with hardover eggs. They were slightly sunnyside up but still good. I had to send back my egg muffin as it was barely toasted. That was a no go for me. Next time I would ask them to deconstruct this item and make my muffin extra toasted. Overall I did enjoy my brunch. Other gals at table got Goat Cheese Omelet, Pork Belly Sandwich & Cali Benedict. Everyone left satiated and happy. Money well spent after a lakefront walk.

Overpriced and inferior to other chains in the area (Yolk), Kanela serves a bleak and boring breakfast in dirty dishware. The first time it took 30 minutes before we were served, the second time I was given an attitude for asking to replace an egg I saw someone rub with their bare arms, the third time I was served some cold, plain French toast with a quarter sized dollop of sauces (their Kanela Toast). When I asked for a little more, I was silently charged $2 ontop, making it $19. I am sorry for giving them 3 chances when other restaurants that aren't run to extract the most and provide the least deserve the business more.

I wanted to like this place especially because of the photos and previous reviews. Unfortunately that was not my experience. The food was just not good as well as the cleanliness. Over priced crap!

This place is surprisingly good. The vibe was chill but also preppy-industrial. Restaurant set up is great. I got to see a glimpse of the courtyard and it was beautiful. The music though- not so much. It was 90s, 2000s R&B baby making music- on a Saturday during brunch. Not what I was expecting and also- why!? Initially I was set back. When I ordered my drink, I realized that they have "house" liquors so I couldn't order Crown or Jameson. This was my first time here and I couldn't commit to house liquor because I don't know you like that lol . If I'm drinking house liquor- it's because I'm a regular. Anyway, my server is what kept me around. He was super nice, understanding, and told us the truth about the food. Him talking to us in a playful manner made this experience worth while.

I tried to eat here for brunch on November 30th. Unfortunately, I couldn't tell you how the food is because I was sat for 20 minutes without so much as a greeting. Waitresses passed my table multiple times to check on other customers and wouldn't even look me in the eye. When you're hungry, 20 minutes feels like 30 and I think what added insult to injury was that - as I was leaving - I said to the QA/Manager, "we're leaving because no one came to take our order for 20 minutes" and he said "ok". No 'sorry', 'please don't go' or 'there must be some mistake'. I will not speculate as to why I was ignored but I will mention up front that I dress well and that I am overly polite. We walked out and down to Ina Mae's where I had the most wonderful birthday brunch.

The restaurant was crowded but we were seated right away. The orange juice mimosa tasted like any other, nothing special. The glazed kanela roll is a must order. It's basically a cinnamon roll in a skillet. It was piping hot. The chicken and waffles were okay. The waffle was so crispy it felt like wafer. The chicken was tasty at least. The potatoes were the tastiest roasted potatoes I've had. Ambiance was cute with alternative music.

I'm a frequenter of Kanela in Andersonville as it's one of my favorite spots to get breakfast. Today we went to the wicker park location and it's way bigger inside and we were able to get a seat right away. I got the goat cheese omelet, a side of bacon and the biscuits and gravy. Everything was delicious and the servers were amazing. Also their spicy Bloody Mary is always a hit in my book and one of my favorites!

The service was great!! She was so sweet and had great recommendations. And the food was delicious! I had eggs with scallions, caramelized onions, peppered bacon, and Swiss cheese. I think it's called Lorraine's. She said the Swiss makes it creamier than cheddar. And it really did. It was a good amount of food too. The setting is nice as well. And let me just say, I'm a coffee snob. Always have been. Always will be. Their coffee was excellent! It was dark, rich, and perfect! She said she thinks it's from Vienna. I'll definitely go back when I'm in town next week.

Arrived on a Saturday at about noon, it was busy but we waited only about 10 min to get a seat. Service was a bit slow, food was ok, ambiance was ok. I ordered the build your own omelette with chorizo, goat cheese, & spinach - pretty tasty. The side of potatoes that came along with it were pretty delicious too. My friend ordered the harvest salad, which she said was pretty bland & boring - really just mixed greens, cranberries, & nuts for ~$18. I will say their coffee is quite good, just wish they were better with keeping my cup warm & filled. I've been to the Old Town location before & had a similar experience so I wasn't expecting too much here. There's definitely better breakfast/brunch spots around but if you're looking for something last minute with a little bit of everything Kanela is an option.

BUGS IN FOOD. Enough said. The waitress was very friendly and understanding when we left. I wouldn't put anything from this restaurant in my mouth until they've been fully inspected by the health department.

TL:DR, this breakfast stop was amazing. Went with my wife, 2 year old daughter, and mother-in-law of which we have a plethora of palate preferences which allowed us to Order broadly. My crab cake Benedict was a ride for the taste buds. The "sweets" of the Kanela French toast and lemon-blueberry pancakes were incredibly rich, but not too overpowering. On the savory side we also decided to build our own omelette which was so large it could feed a village, but did not prevent it from being exceptional. The most important thing, which seems to be one of the recurring critiques of previous evaluation of this restaurant, was the very prompt and enthusiastic service we had. Our waiter was incredibly enthusiastic, clearly happy to be here, very knowledgeable on all aspects of the menu, and it was always there when we needed him. Finally, we washed it all down with La Columbe cappuccinos and strawberry-orange mimosas. I can't wait to come back again to try their biscuits & gravy and red velvet French toast.

I came here with 2 other people on Halloween weekend. We did have to wait for a table even though we had a reservation, but honestly with indoor dining closed and them only having about 4 tables outside, this wasn't surprising at all and the wait wasn't very long (also shoutout to diners everywhere, if you're eating somewhere that does allow outdoor dining, it's really great if you can vacate as soon as you pay rather than sitting around and holding up the table). The staff was really friendly, cleaned the table quickly, and got us our food in a timely manner. For our food we ordered the potato pancakes, chilaquiles, and kanela French toast. It was all good! The potato pancakes were crunchy on the outside, chilaquiles was flavorful, and the kanela pancakes were soft with a really delicious creamy fraiche (?) inside. On top of that we got some Irish coffees that were delicious! Additionally the location for this Kanela is super clutch, it's right in the middle of Wicker park with a lot of different shops and restaurants around, perfect for a morning stroll!

Great service, quality food and tasty drinks! My husband got the chicken and waffles and the waffle was easily one of the best we've ever tasted! That says a lot coming from Waffle House country. I wish I would have taken a photo. Highly recommend that you try this place if you haven't already.

I walk past Kanela a lot and decided to pop in on a whim. It was a Saturday around 10am, and was able to get a table with no problem. I got the cheesy breakfast sandwich with the herb roasted potatoes. I'm not normally an egg fan, but these eggs were super fluffy and delicious. It got busier at the end of our time here, but luckily they have a scan to pay option! We will be back.

Service was not great. Had to wait for a table but it didn't seem that busy? Our server was snappy and we didn't appreciate the pushiness in placing our order. Didn't like the Bloody Mary and the food was underwhelming considering the price. I'm on the hunt for good brunch and have not found it here.

Ok to start off, I don't hate this place and would give it another chance. They were able to seat us immediately, a group of 5, and the waitress was amazing. It was a bit toasty inside but no big deal. I honestly just didn't like the food I received. My favorite breakfast food is eggs benedict, so naturally I ordered the veggie version they offer. The best part was the hollandaise; they serve their Cali benny with a sriracha hollandaise that was super good. The benedict as a whole however, was almost inedible. The avocado was hard as a rock, the veggies were slimy and bland, and the whole thing was soggy (from water, not from the hollandaise). The potatoes, though limp, were seasoned really well so that saved the day a bit. The benedict gets 1 star from me, but the potatoes and coffee options were good; coupled with the great service I'm raising to 3 stars. I think others at the table had a slightly better food experience, so I wouldn't write this place off by any means. If I could redo, I'd get a modified fried egg sandwich instead.

Dined on September 4th Service is absolutely terrible and this is coming from a waiter who have worked in multiple breakfast places such as Yolk and Wildberry and is still working in the F&B industry. I dine in at Kanela quite often as generally the food is good, but I never thought the service was ever that good. No one there seem like they care nor happy to be there. I understand as a server myself that the work can often times be taxing on the mind and body but it doesn't take a lot to give what the guests need in regards to a simple breakfast meal. But this time around was quite different. They had sprinkled a significant amount of cinnamon on our velvet french toast(which was new to us as when we do get it, it generally never comes with cinnamon), and when asked if we could have it remade without the cinnamon, as the dish did not specify that cinnamon was on it, we were told that we would have to pay for the second one as well when they were the one who clearly put too much cinnamon which seemed very unfair to me. A short lady, maybe the manager on duty, couldn't even give a time estimate for the second one stating that it was busy and that there were tickets ahead of us, obviously just trying to get us not to order another one which I didn't mind. But after she clearly just wanted us out, we decided not to reorder. This experience definitely left a sour taste in my mouth and I will not be back but not that it matters to them. But I do highly encourage everyone to go to Wildberry, Yolk or even Stax if you're looking for Mimosas etc. Very disappointed in Kanela and the Front of the House staff. One of the photos is the one we got and the other is a screen shot of someone else's Red velvet French toast (the one we are used to).

Stopped in today for brunch, and we were so happy with our meal. We waited about 20 minutes for a table, which is great given that people when we left were waiting an hour and a half. Service was great! We were able to order shortly after ordering, and everything came pretty quickly. We both started with a cup of their La Colombe coffee, which we were already fans of. I had the lox and bagel with a side of chips. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy. Their homemade chips were to die for. The lox and bagel was a huge portion and came with plenty of lox. My husband loved his biscuits and gravy, and he said they were some of the best he's ever had. We will definitely be back next time we're in town.

Plan to get here earlier than 10:30 to beat the rush and also use the Yelp waiting check in tool. We got the free Yelp appetizer for a money bread, it was good but not mind-blowing. Would probably get a different appetizer next time but the portion size was great for 4 people. For the entree I got the fried chicken sandwich and It. Was. Great. Probably one of the best I've had in the city. The mimosa pitchers were also a good value! Service was really good but the food kind of took a while to come out. Waiter was kind of enough to split our checks.

Great for vegans... but also good choices for us meat eaters as well. Staff is friendly. A must try.

Outside is not very appealing but inside is cute. I got the crab eggs Benny and that was an all star brunch decisions. The crab had good flavor, and the hollandaise wasn't soaked through the English muffin, it was still crisp. I got the potato pancakes, you can pass on those - as an east coaster the Jewish delis by me are much better, they weren't crisp and they were the wrong consistency. I also got the crunchy French toast. That was pretty nice, very crunchy, good mouth feel and flavor. I usually don't like French toast so that's saying something. Lastly, I got a chai latte, it was alright, pretty standard, as well as strawberry orange mimosas - they were good, I would recommend. Other things of note, the bathroom was clean and the wait time wasn't too long at all. They say 25 minutes but it was barely 5.

I have noooooo idea why this place has such low reviews. Kanela had the best breakfast I have had in a while. I got the Goat Cheese Omelette and it was perfect. With it I order an english muffin and on the side asked for spicy pepper jam. That add is a must. We sat outside. Their outdoor tables are in the shade during the afternoon, so be sure to bring a jacket. The service was amazing and they have a lot of options food and drink wise!

Very under staffed. Took a while to even order and then even longer to get our food. The food was just alright and the smoothies are very runny. More like juice. But the establishment is a great space

Walked in Wed morning around 10:15am and it was not busy. 1 guy is walking around with earphones in and semi dancing and mouthing words. Not focused on customers at all. I found my own seat and waited 10 mins until I asked him if there was a server. An elderly couple just walked in and he yelled at them from the back of the restaurant "take any open table". Just walked out.

Favorite brunch spot in Wicker!!! The service was quick and the food was so good. I ended up getting the avocado toast with an egg. The portion size was large so expect some left overs. The coffee was great and they refilled it quickly. The menu is huge (with tons of drink options). We just opted for coffee today, but I can't wait to be back and try the alcoholic drink menu. Not sure how long they are doing this for, but if you are looking for a fall drink they have a pumpkin spiced hot chocolate which sounded sooo good.

I got the lox and bagel - comes with extra to make it great. Also tried the chicken and waffles - also was amazing ! Def would go here again!

I'm a huge fan of the Wicker Park neighborhood, so naturally I levitate towards their many bars and restaurants, especially now once the weather began to get nicer. Kanela has always been a place I've been meaning to go to, but because I'm always here in the evening hours I never got to experience their wonderful breakfast, until one faithful Sunday afternoon. I had a great brunch date here. The choices on the menu were great, especially the meal I ordered. I had the California Benedict with some hash potatoes on the side. Absolutely delicious! The biscuit the eggs were on itself was so moist with flavor from the rest of the meal, yet light and fluffy at the same time. The potatoes were also cooked just right. Service was also pretty good. While it seemed busy, we were always being tended to which is something that I do expect from all restaurants.I was surprised that there was no wait time when we first arrived as well, so that was great. Plus, Yelpers get a free appetizer when they check in! How cool is that? Wicker Park's got a couple great breakfast spots, but if you haven't checked out this one already, definitely head to Kanela, but be warned, they close kind of early (3pm).

Their service was a little too slow for my liking. My friend and I waited 40 minutes for our food, and it wasn't during peak Saturday/Sunday brunch hours. We sat outdoors (dog-friendly patio which is the silver lining) and ordered Chicken & Waffles and a Chicken Avocado BLT. I walked inside a few times to get someone's attention to either check on the status of our food, or request boxes for our food. They might have been short-staffed (at least it felt like it) with 1-2 servers for the entire restaurant. They topped off our coffees once during meal, but when you wonder "where is our food?" more than once over a period of 15 minutes, that's when everything started to feel drawn out. If we had sat indoors perhaps our service might have been quicker, but I'm not 100% sure that's the case. I wanted to like this spot and have tried their other location in Lakeview, which felt more warm and inviting, humming with excitement. A bit disappointed with the speed of service, but I'm glad I tried this location and now I'll know (and hopefully you'll know) what to expect. And so we keep on brunchin'.

Service was a 2, food was a 5, so I'll split the difference and give some benefit of the doubt and go 4. Came with a group of 4 for brunch on a Saturday. We put our names in ahead of time on their app, and it said a 26 minute wait. So we slowly made our way over there, walked around for a bit, then showed up about 20 minutes after we put our names in. Had to wait about another 10-15 minutes for a table (that's likely more the fault of the app, but still annoying when you're hungry). The place was busy, and the service showed. Our server was barely around, pretty much just came to take our order, we had to flag him down to get more coffee, to get condiments, and to get our bill (we eventually had to flag someone else down for the condiments as he never brought them). With that said, the food was good. I got the crab cake benedict, and it was cooked very well. The crab cake shone without overpowering the dish. The avocado was an interesting addition, I'm not a huge avocado fan so I could take it or leave it. Everyone else enjoyed their dishes as well. Price is about average for brunch in Chicago. They have pitchers of mimosas, which is nice. We ordered the strawberry but I swear we got the original (still good, but we wanted to try the strawberry). Downsides: there's no place to wait inside, and once we did get seated it was chilly.

Delicious waffles! Bruh is a must have in summer. They always pick the best fruit. Lattes are delicious btw
